Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing.2008;14(7):856-857. doi:10.3760/cma.j.issn.1674-2907.2008.07.011

Objective To observe the effects of the combination of aloe and vitamin E in the prevention of irradiation-induced acute skin injury. Methods 138 cases with malignant tumors who received first radiation under linear accelerator were randomized into prevention group (n=70) and control group (n= 68 ).Among the prevention group, patients were applied with fresh aloe fluids on radiation sites until they were dry before radiation. After each radiation, the radiation sties were cleaned with cool boiled water and applied with vitamin E.If skin lesion occurred, times of local use of aloe and vitamin E could be increased. In the control group, no skin protection measures were used.If skin lesion occurred, local use of norfloxacin or Genetime spray(recombinant human epidermal growth factor derivative).RTOG scores were used to assess skin integrity of radiation sites in both groups everyday till all radiations were completed. Results Skin reaction rate and grade in prevention group were significantly less than those in the control group and the time occurring skin lesion in prevention group was significantly delayed (P<0.05).Conclusions The combination of aloe and vitamin E is effective in preventing and controlling irradiation-induced skin injury.

Objective To investigate the morbility status of functional dyspepsia and functional enteropathy of the nurse in emergency department and to find the regularity. Methods The nurses in emergency department of the First Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University and Shengjing Hospital were investigated with digestive symptoms questionnaire and other relative mental scales (nurse's working stressor scale, working burn-out scale, Pittsburg sleep quality index, clinical mental health symptom checklist). Results The morbility and frequency of digestive symptoms of the nurse in emergency department were higher than that of the nurse in outpatient department (P<0.05 ).In the nurses in emergency department, 72 cases were troubled by functional dyspepsia and functional enteropathy (47.37%), while in the nurses in outpatient department the morbility was 34.65%(P<0.001 ).The subtypes of functional dyspepsia and enteropathy in two groups were different: FD, functional constipation and IBS were common in the nurses in emergency department; FD, FD with entero-symptom and functional abdominal distention were common in the nurses in outpatient department. The scores of nurse's working stressor scale, working burn-out scale, Pittsburg sleep quality index, clinical mental health symptom checklist in the nurses in emergency department were higher than that of the nurses in outpatient department (P<0.05).Conclusions There is tendency of functional dyspepsia and enteropathy in the nurses in emergency department, which is possibly related with the nurse's negative emotion, dormancy disorder, tired work, and tension.

Yun-Juan BAI ; Bing-Ji XU ; Uun-Qin XING

Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing.2008;14(7):866-868. doi:10.3760/cma.j.issn.1674-2907.2008.07.014

Objective To learn the depression levels of coronary restenosis patients after stent placement, so as to provide corresponding nursing strategies for them. Methods A total of 71 coronary restenosis cases after stent placement hospitalized in cardiovascular surgery department of our hospital were selected from 2004 to 2007.They were investigated by self-rating depression scale (SDS) .Among all cases,59 cases had different degrees of depression and were divided into test and control group randomly.29 cases in control group were given routine nursing care.Another 30 cases in test group were provided comprehensive nursing intervention.Rescoring with SDS of both group cases were compared with each other 10 days (preoperation) after nursing intervention. Results After 10 days (pre-operation) intervention, the scorings of test group were remarkably lower than those of either control group or before nursing intervention. There were statistical significant differences between them(P<0.05).Clinical symptoms relieved in test group cases, which was better than that of control group. Conclusions Coronary restenosis cases after stent placement have higher incidence of depression feeling. We should pay attention to them and take corresponding comprehensive nursing intervention to relieve their depression, which is good for the preparation of their operation.

Ling WU ; Xue-Lan GAO

Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing.2008;14(7):869-870. doi:10.3760/cma.j.issn.1674-2907.2008.07.015

Objective To explore the effect of percutaneous tracheotomy in the clinical application. Methods 40 patients were divided into the observation group and the control group with 20 cases in each group. The observation group underwent the pereutaneous tracheotomy, and the control group received the surgical tracheotomy. The operation time, the incision size, the amount of intra-operative bleeding and postoperative complications were observed between the two groups. Results The operative time in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P<0.01 ), and the incision size smaller than that in the control group (P<0.01 ).The amount of intra-operative bleeding and the amount of bleeding 24 hrs after the operation were small, and the postoperative complications reduced. Conclusions Compared to the surgical tracheotomy (ST), the pereutaneous dilational tracheotomy (PDT) has advantages of shorter surgery time, smaller incision size, less bleeding and fewer complications. So PDT is a tracheotomy method that is easy to be conducted near the bed, safe and practical, thereby being worthy of clinical application.
