THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF GINGER OLEORESINS ON HYPERLIPIDEMIA AND PLATELET AGGREGATION

Yan CHEN ; Ze TIAN ; Yiqiang GE ; Tongyi CAI

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica.1956;0(04):-.

Objective: To study the effects of ginger oleoresins(GO) on blood lipids in hyperlipidemic mice and the platelet aggregation in rats. Methods: The rat platelet aggregation was induced by ADP and AA in vitro, and the inhibition by GO was tested by light transmission. The animal model of hyperlipidemia was establised by feeding Kunmimg mice with high lipid feed stuff. The effects of GO on serum lipid and hepatic MAD in hyperlipidemic mice was investigated. Results: GO could effectively inhibit rat platelet aggregation induced by ADP and AA in vitro, which were 58.9%,97.5% respectively, and in dose dependant manner. Besides, GO could also significantly decrease serum TC, LDL, AS index and hepatic MDA in hyperlipidemic mice, which were 16.45%, 60.45%,37.30% and 54.27% respectively, and showed no side-effect on liver. Conclusion: Long-term consumption of GO can effectively modulate blood lipids, prevent thrombosis and AS.

THE LIPOGENIC AND LIPOLYTIC METABOLISM AT DYNAMIC PHASE OF OBESITY IN VENTROMEDIAL HYPOTHALAMUS-LESIONED OBESE RATS

Changyong XUE ; Zixin ZHENG ; Rongxin ZHANG ; Xinchao LU ; Shuji INOUE

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica.1956;0(04):-.

Objective: To investigte the lipogenic and lipolytic metabolism at dynamic phase of obesity in ventromedial hypothalamus-lesioned obese rats. Methods: Female SD rats were divided into two groups, one group received bilateral electrolytic lesions of ventromedial hypothalamus(VMH),and the other one was used as sham control. Samples of blood, livers and subcutaneous, parametric and mesenteric adipose tissues were collected one week after VMH lesions and sham operations. Results: Activities of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein(MTP) in hepatocytes, and phosphatidate phosphohydrolase (PAP), malic enzyme(ME), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G6PDH)in liver, parametric and mesenteric adipose tissue in VMH-lesioned rats were increased as compared to their sham counterparts. Activity of hormone sensitive enzyme(HSL) in parametric and mesenteric adipose tissue in VMH-lesioned rats was not changed when compared to sham group. Activity of HSL in subcutaneons adipose tissue was increased, while activity of HSL in gastrocnemius was decreased. Activity of lipoprotein lipase(LPL) in parametric and mesenteric adipose tissue and gastrocnemius were enhanced significantly compared to sham group. Conclusion: In dynamic phase of obesity of VMH-lesioned rats, hepatic production and transportation of triglyceride in these rats were increased significantly ,and lipogenic metabolism and storage of triglyceride in adipose tissues such as parametric and mesenteric adipose tissues were also enhanced.Meanwhile, lipolytic metabolism in subcutaneous adipose tissue and gastrocnemius was also increased.

EFFECT OF IODINE DEFICIENCY AND HYPOTHYROIDISM ON NO CONTENTS IN DEFFERENT PARTS OF BRAIN IN RATS

Qin YANG ; Huijun ZHUANG ; Hao CHEN ; Bing GUO ; Qiling MA ; Zongjie ZHUANG

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica.1956;0(04):-.

Objective: This experiment was designed to study the change of nitric oxide (NO) content in different parts of brain in rats suffering from iodine deficiency(ID) and hypothyroidism since their fetal period. Methods: Iodine deficiency animal model was made and NO content in hippocampus(HPC), cerebellum (CE) and cortex(CO) were measured by using NO test kit. Results: Urinary iodine and serum T 3?T 4 concentrations significantly decreased and learning-memory capacity was impaired in ID rats. NO content was significantly lower in HPC and CE in ID rats than in control rats.(HPC:11.61?2.31/2.3?1 18 ?mol/g Prot;CE:10.77?5.16/4.70?1.95 ?mol/g Prot). No difference was found in cortex. Conclusion: Iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism since fetal period could affect NO level in rat brain. Different parts of brain have different sensitivity to ID and hypothyroidism. The changes of NO content in hippocampus may contribute to the learning-memory impairment in ID rats.
