Relationship between the expression of B7-1 in liver tissue and the effect of interferon-alpha treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis B

Objectives To evaluate the relationship between the expression of B7-1 in liver tissue and the effect of interferon- alpha(α- IFN) treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Methods The expression of B7 -1in liver biopsy specimens from 68 CHB patients was studied with immunohistochemistry before α-IFN treatment.Results B7-1 was expressed in 45(66.2%) liver tissues among 68 patients with CHB,but none in 5 normal controls.The total response ratio of α- IFN in patients with B7-1 positive was 66.7%(30/45),which was significantly higherthan 39.1%(9/23)in the patients with B7-1 negative(x2 =7.20,P <0.01).B7-1 expression was closely corelat-ed with the histological activity grade(HAI) and serum alanine transaminase(ALT) level.Conclusions The level of B7-1 expression in liver tissue may be regarded as an effective parameter for predicting α-IFN response in patients with CHB.

Relationship between apolipoprotein E polymorphism and coronary heart disease

Objective To study the effect of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) polymorphism on serum lipids and the relationship between apolipoprotein E polymorphism and coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods Polymerize chain reaction (PCR) and HhaI digestion were used for the detection of apolipoprotein E genotype on 71 patients with CHD and 69 control subjects.Results The frequencies of apolipoprotein E4 allele and E3/4 genotype were obviously increased in CHD group than in control group (P<0.01,P<0.05). Conclusion The apolipoprotein E polymorphism is related to the occurrence of coronary heart disease; apolipoprotein E4 allele is one of the most important hereditary factor for the occurrence of CHD.

Changes of serum thrombopoietin level in patients with aplastic anemia and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

The expression of TGF ? receptor Ⅰ and apoptosis in gastric carcinoma and precancerous lesions.

Detection of telomerase activity and cytology in the diagnosis of cardiac cancer.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic significance of cytology and telomerase activity in the exfoliated cells of cardia obtained from endoscopic brushing in the cardiac cancer.Methods The technique of the qualitative TRAP siver staining and quantitative TRAP PCR ELISA were employed to detect telomerase activity in the exfoliated cells of cardiac obtained from endoscopic brushing in 72 cases with cardial lesions,cytological diagnosis was made at the same time.Results Telomerase activity with cardiac cancer group(1\^521?0\^192)was significantly higher than that with cardialitis group(0\^065?0\^014).Positive rate of telomerase activity detected in cardiac cancer group(88\^89%)was significantly higher than that with cardialitis group(11\^11%).Positive rate of telomerase activity detected in cardiac cancer group(88\^89%)was significantly higer than cytological examination(77\^78%).The diagnostic rate of cardiac cancer was improved to 93\^33% if telomerase activity and cytology were examined at the same time.Conclusion Results show that the combination of cytology and telomerase activity in the exfoliated cardiac cells may be an effective and sensitive method in the diagnosis of cardiac cancer.This research can be a basis for the mass screening of cardiac cancer.

Effects and safety of low moleculer weight heparin on treatment of nephrotic syndrome

Objective\ To investigate the effect and safety of LMWH on treatment of nephrotic syndrome(NS).Methods\ We randomized 43 patients with primary NS into 2 groups.Steroid and cyclophosphamide were given in control group.LMWH with the dosage of 3200～5000IU twice per day was added in the treated group.Results\ After 4 to 6 weeks of treatment,a significant increase in AT-Ⅲ,anti-Xa activity and serum albumin and decrease in fibrinogen and proteinuria were observed in LMWH.Conclusion\ LMWH should be recommended as a useful treatment of NS.

The clinical application of creatinine clearance predicted from lean body weight

Objective\ To evaluate the possibility of predicting renal function from creatinine clearance calculated by lean body weight(LBWCcr).Methods\ 81 patients of renal disease were selected.The ratio between 24-hour urinary creatinine excretion(24hUcr)and lean body weight(LBW)was evaluated in 51 patients.The other 30 patients was determined DTPA-GFR,LBWCcr and 4hCcr.DTPA-GFR was used as criteria.LBWCcr and 4hCcr were compared with it in order to validate the feasibility of LBWCcr and 4hCcr.Results\ There was no statistical significance among the three methods,P=0 56 The correlation coefficient between LBWCcr and 4hCcr with DTPA-GFR was 0 89 and 0 86,respectively.The analysis of linearity regression showed that the trend of LBWCcr was better than 4hCcrmin in predicting renal function.In fatty group and renal failure group the results were similar.Conclusion\ LBWCcr can estimate the renal function accurately,simply and rapidly.

Clinical study on opioid polypeptides involved in epidemic encephalitis-B pathogenesis.

Objectives In order to study the endogenous opioid polypeptides involved in pathogenesis of epidemic encephalitis-B and the clinical therapeutic efficacy.Methods ①Leucine-enkephalin,?-endophin and Dynorphin levels in plasma and and CSF of patients with epidemic encephalitis-B during critical stage and convalescent stage were measured by radio-immunoassay.②Naloxone therapeutic efficacy in patients with epidemic encephalitis-B were investigated.Results Opioid polypeptides levels In plasma and CSF were significantly higher in critical stage and dropped to normal levels in convalescent stage.③We demonstrated that endogenous opioid polypeptides special antagnoist agent-Naloxone was a very important therapy agent for epidemic encephalitis-B patients.Therapy group efficacy was significantly better than control group.Conclusions These results demonstrate that endogenous opioid polypeptides involves in the physiopathologic changes of epidemic encephalitis-B.
