Simulation in medical education at Loma Linda University

This article described how simulation is used at Loma Linda University Medical Simulation Center.Detail description and examples were provided to help medical educators undemmnd the method of using the virtual simulator for teaching fast and efficient decision making skills at a high level of interactive medical education.

With the gradual transformation of the American medical model from biomedical medel to bio-psycho-social model,the advancement both in the medical security and service system,preventire medicine as well as the protection of environment have been emphasized,while the revolution of the medical education has been carried out according to the divemified requirements of the bio-psyeho-social model,and the focus of health care has been moved forward.

Development of the department of medical education at the university of Illinois at Chicago and its inspiration

Since 1959,the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago(UIC DME)has experienced five stages,i.e.,formation,going to the world,turmoil,consolidation and prosperous prospects.UIC DME has been contributing a lot to its home institute,medical schools in the United States and also the world's health professions education.There are many aspect,;worth learning from it:such as variOtis institution-based services;multi-discipline faculty for the department;innovative multi-field researches;efficient and effective communication and stimulation for faculty and staff;fruitful collaboration with other organizations and winning active leadership supports.

Implementation of web-based PBL teaching mode in medical education and case studies

Due to the subjective and objective constraints of universities in China,PBL Teaching Mode failed to gain its popularity in China's medical education.In its teaching reform,Guangzhou Medical University put forward a new teaching model--Web-based PBL Teaching Mode(hereinafter referred to as WPBL).by integrating the classical concept of PBL education with the real situation of the university and carried it out among students in bilingual classes of Clinical Medicine.The resuIts showed that by effectively overcoming the difficulties during the implementation of classical PBL teaching,Web-based PBL Teaching Mode not only succeeded in achieving the teaching objectives,but also improved the learning efficiency and utilization of teaching resources greatly by means of network technology.

The necessity and feasibility of implementing evidence-based dentistry education in China

The concept and methods of evidence-based medicine(EBM)has been evolved to impact almost all fields of health care and policy since it first appeared in 1992.but in the field of dentistry or stomatology,many problems remain to be solved in carrying out EBM.The necessity and feasibility of implementing evidence-based dentistry education in China were discussed in this paper for chnical evidence-based decision making and clinical research.The contenk teaching approach and accreditation tools for EBM in dental education were also proposed.

The ethics of Traditional Chinese Medicine are an important component of Chinese excellent traditional culture,which reflect the interests and expectations of working people.Because it justice but depreciating benefit',it has become the code of conduct for doctors to regulate,restrain,and spur themselves for thousands of years.Under the impacts of market economy,the traditional ethics is hard for young medical students to avoid money worship and other unhealthy thoughts.Therefore,it is essential to instill the merits of traditional medical ethits into the education of Traditional Chinese Medicine in western institutions.in older to lay a good foundation for the country to cultivate medical talents with excellent medical skills and gracious medical ethics.It Can be convinced that if the ethics of traditional Chinese medicine of long standing integrated with modem think well,it will recreate the enormous times value to the traditional ethics.

Establishing student-oriented concept and reform educational mode and methods

To implement the‘student-oriented'concepL we need to implement it into the practical of educational reformation,believe the academic ability and great potential of students and actively create conditions for the development of students,reform training model and formulate training plan based on social needs and employment,adopt various methods to train the autonomic learning ability and innovative consciousness of students,and allow students to participate in the teaching management so as to fully develope the subjective role of students in the teaching and learning process.

Human resources development in medical and health is of vital importance to medical and health sector reform and development as well as to medical and health existence and service improvement.Medical and health sector in China has made remarkable progress;however,facing the new requirements from economic and social development and people's new needs for medical health service because of their upaating health concepts and the new promotion by the development of biomedical science and technology,we still have some critical problems in medical and health personnel education.Therefore,the task of conducting careful analysis and exploring the solutions to these problems should be given sufficient attention and completed as soon as possible in the field of medical education.

Curriculum design and education practices of oral implantology in medical universities

Education history and characteristics of oral implantology especially in China were reviewed and commented.Curriculum establishment in China medical universities was proved to be necessary and feasible by analysis of current domestic education condition of graduate and postgraduate.education in oral implantology.In recent three years.practices in implantology education was carried out in School of Stomatology,Fourth Military Medical University.Implantology curriculum was established,with teaching experiences and methods summarized for reference of lmplantology education in other universities.
