Experimental study on anti-inflammatory effects ofHuamoyan granules

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects on acute and chronic inflammation ofHuamoyan Granules(HMYG).Methods KM mice and SD rats were randomly divided into model group, ibuprofen group and HMYG high, middle and low three dosages groups. The Ibuprofen group was administrated drug by gavage, mice 0.13 g/kg and rats 0.093 g/kg. The HMYG groups were administrated orally, mice 12, 6 and 3g/kg, rats 4, 4.2 and 2.1 g/kg. The model group was given the same volume distilled water, once a day, 3 or 10 continuous days. The increased permeability of mice abdominal capillary was induced by acetic acid, edema of rat hind paw was induced by albumen and carrageenin, which both were adopted to observe the acute anti-inflammatory effects; and cotton pellet granuloma was to observe the chronic anti- inflammation effects of HMYG.Results Compared with the model group, the ibuprofen group, the HMYG high and middle group showed anti-inflammatory actions of mice induced by acetic acid (0.185 ± 0.046, 0.177 ± 0.055, 0.190 ± 0.052vs. 0.246 ± 0.050,P<0.05 orP<0.01); after 0.5, 1, 2, 4 and 6 hrs inflammation, HMYG high dosage group had significant inhibition for the edema of rats hind paw induced byalbumen model, the inhibitory rate was 22.46%, 19.20% and 24.32%, 33.75%, 24.19%; 4 and 6 hrs after inflammation, HMYG high dosage group could reduce rats paw edema induced by carrageenin, the inhibitory rate was 32.05%, 30.56% and 19.23%, 20.83%.Conclusion HMYG has evident anti-inflammatory effects on acute inflammation.

Therapeutic effect ofHuoxue-Buqi-Qutan decoction for vertigo due to vertebrobasilar insufficiency

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect ofHuoxue-Buqi-Qutan decoction for vertigo due to vertebrobasilar insufficiency.Methods A total of 120 patients with vertigo due to vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI) were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, with 60 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated withHuoxue-Buqi-Qutandecoction and the control group was treated with nimodipine injection. The clinical efficacy, the change of strength before and after treatment were observed; the mean blood flow velocities of the vertebrobasilar arteries were detected with transcranial Doppler.Results After the treatment, the total effective rate was 91.7% (55/60) and 80% (48/60) in the treatment group and the control group, respectively, with significant difference (χ2=12.234,P=0.001). The mean blood flow velocities of the basilar artery, left and right basilar arteries were significantly increased in both groups (tvalues were 2.909, 4.558, 5.424, 9.831 in the treatment group, and 8.388, 11.191 in the control group, allP<0.01), the improvements of the mean blood flow velocities in the treatment group were significant better than those in the control group (tvalues were 7.385, 6.940, 3.890, allP<0.01). The vertigo grade was improved in both groups after the treatment than those before the treatment, while the proportion of grade 0 and grade 3 in the treatment group was significantly better than the control group (χ2 values were 8.298, 4.5472,P=0.004, 0.033).ConclusionHuoxue-Buqi-Qutan decoction can obviously improve the vertebrobasilar blood supply and the vertigo grade in patients with vertigo due to VBI, and then improve the clinical efficacy.

Exploration and practice of deepening teaching reform on pharmacology of traditional Chinese medicine

This paper discussed the different ways on the pharmacology of traditional Chinese medicine teaching to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability, promoting independent learning through PBL teaching, enhancing students' ability to think independently and practical operation using heuristic teaching.Survey results showed this student-centered, teacher-led, student-teacher interaction style pharmacology teaching model could improve the quality of teaching of Pharmacology.

The TCM apprentice education mode in the application of standardized training of resident physicians

Resident standardization training system is established in the framework of modern western medicine. With less consideration to the specificity of TCM on the curriculum, teaching mode and other aspects, it is not suitable for the actual requirement of TCM hospital. TCM apprentice education has a long history, is an important form of the traditional education of Chinese medicine. Leading the TCM apprentice education mode into the standardized training of resident physicians, exploring the construction of the teaching model suited to help the masses of TCM college graduates training will play an increasingly important role in training work.

Discussion on the elements of quality assurance of training the doctoral students of traditional Chinese medicine

The current enrollment system, curriculum, teacher quality, the quality of doctoral thesis research and scientific research and innovation ability are the main factors influencing the quality of doctoral cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine. By analyzing these influence factors, the article try to explore traditional Chinese culture quality assurance factors of doctoral students, that is, to control the quality of students, to clear training objectives, to strengthen the responsibility of instructors, to supervise the quality and training of scientific research and innovation ability of students and so on.

Analysis on the medication rules of state medical masterYan Zhenghua from the prescriptions with Angelicae Sinensis Radix based on data mining

Objective To explore the medication rules of State Medical MasterYan Zhenghua. Methods The prescriptions including Angelicae Sinensis Radix that built by Pro. Yan were collected to build a database based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) inheritance assist system(V2.0.1). After analyzed by the statistical reports module and the data analysis module which were from TCM inheritance assist system, and the methods of data-mining that including association rules and apriori algorithm, the frequency of single medicine, the frequency of drug combination, the association rules between drugs and core drug combinations which all were including Angelicae Sinensis Radix can be get from the database.Results The prescriptions including Angelicae Sinensis Radix were commonly used to treat stomach-ache, arthralgia syndrome, irregular menstruation and other syndromes. The highest frequency used drugs were Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Rhizoma Cyperi, and so on. The most frequency drug combinations were “Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Radix Paeoniae Rubra”, “Radix Paeoniae Alba, Angelicae Sinensis Radix”, and “Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Angelicae Sinensis Radix”. The drug association rules that the confidence was more than 0.9 were “Fructus Jujubae-Angelicae Sinensis Radix”, “Fructus Amomi Villosi-Angelicae Sinensis Radix”, “Radix Codonopsis-Angelicae Sinensis Radix”, and “Os Draconis-Concha Ostreae”, and so on.Conclusion The drugs in the prescriptions containing Angelicae Sinensis Radix that built by Pro. Yan mostly had the effects of cooling blood, replenishing blood, and promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis, which reflected the clear thought when making prescriptions.

The absorption and metabolism differences of intestine and liver for multicomponent licorice water extract

Objective This paper was to study the absorption and metabolism differences of intestine and liver for multicomponent licorice.Methods The components were identified with the UPLC-MS/MS. In situ closed-loop method was used to carry out the comparative experiments of absorption and metabolism differences between intestine and liver.Results 13 components were identified by UPLC-MS/MS. The absorption and metabolism results indicated some components in licorice water extract could be absorbed into blood and metabolism happened during this process. 14 metabolites were detected in the plasma sample. The hepatic metabolism results indicated many components could experience complex metabolism and more metabolites could be generated.Conclusions Liver was the major metabolism organ for licorice water extract and some components could be metabolized along with the absorption process in intestine. The absorption and metabolism differences between intestine and liver were significant.

Determination of rosmarinic acid in common selfheal fruit-spike effective components of colon target tablets

Objective To establish HPLC method to determine the content and the recovery of rosmarinic acid in common selfheal fruit-spike effective component of colon target tablets.Methods HPLC column was Diamonsil C18,200 mm×4.6 mm,5μm, wavelength was 330 nm, mobile phase methanol was 0.1% formic acid aqueous solution (45:55), flow rate was 1.0 ml/min, and the sample size was 20μl.Results The fine linear relation was shown at the rosmarinic acid methanol concentration of 2.99-119.6μg/ml, with 72 h in stable state. The method has fine precision, the spotting recovery was 95%-105%, andRSD was less than 2%. Conclusion The method has high specificity, meeting the demands for content determination.

The effects of isoflavones on lipid profile and oxidative stress in diabetic rats

Objective To investigate the effects of soybean isoflavone(SI) regulating plasma lipid and improving antioxidant ability in diabetic rats.Methods 120 SD rats were randomly devided into a normal group, a diabetes model group, a SI 40, 80, 160 and 320 mg/kg treated group, with 20 expermental animals in each group. Expect the normal group, the diabetic model was setup by intraperitoneal injecting STZ, and the drugs were given by intraperitoneal injection. At 0, 14, 28, 42, 56 days after experiment, the level of plasma glucose were determined. 8 weeks later, the content of TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, the activity of AST, CK, LDHand the T-AOC in serum were determined; the activity of SOD, GSH-Px and the content of MDA in myocardial tissue were determined; and the histopathological changes of myocardial tissue were observed by HE staining. ResultsCompared with the diabetes model control group, the activity of AST in serum of SI 80, 160 and 320 mg/kg treated groups were significantly decreased(104.25 ± 24.92 U/L, 93.71 ± 22.58 U/L, 88.26 ± 23.80 U/Lvs. 127.65 ± 38.17 U/L;P<0.05,P<0.01), the activity of CK were significantly decreased (887.1 ± 185.4 U/L, 831.9 ± 182.8 U/L, 796.2 ± 165.8 U/Lvs. 973.6 ± 211.4 U/L;P<0.05,P<0.01), the activity of LDH were significantly decreased (954.7 ± 153.5 U/L, 868.7 ± 136.2 U/L, 834.1 ± 146.3 U/Lvs. 1 097.6 ± 184.2 U/L;P<0.05,P<0.01); the activity of SOD in myocardial tissue were significantly increased(9.96 ± 2.05 U/mg, 10.47 ± 2.32 U/mg, 11.06 ± 2.29 U/mgvs. 8.72 ± 1.70 U/mg;P<0.05,P<0.01), the content of MDA in myocardial tissue were significantly decreased(5.98 ± 1.35 nmol/mg, 5.47 ± 1.42 nmol/mg, 5.16 ± 1.53 nmol/mgvs. 6.58 ± 1.54 nmol/mg;P<0.05, P<0.01). The plasma glucose level of SI (160 and 320 mg/kg) treated groups were significantly decreased(15.2 ± 0.9 mmol/L, 14.8 ± 0.8 mmol/Lvs. 18.6 ± 1.2 mmol/L;P<0.05,P<0.01), the content of TC in serum were significantly decreased (2.69 ± 0.85 mmol/L, 2.43 ± 0.76 mmol/Lvs. 3.42 ± 0.81 mmol/L;P<0.05,P<0.01), the content of TG were significantly decreased (1.36 ± 0.40 mmol/L, 1.18 ± 0.23 mmol/Lvs. 1.70 ± 0.53 mmol/L;P<0.05,P<0.01), the content of LDL-C were significantly decreased (1.02 ± 0.26 mmol/L, 0.95 ± 0.28 mmol/Lvs. 1.18 ± 0.27 mmol/L;P<0.05), and the content of HDL-C were significantly increased (0.73 ± 0.20 mmol/L, 0.78 ± 0.22 mmol/Lvs. 0.62 ± 0.14 mmol/L;P<0.05), the T-AOC was significantly increased (10.15 ± 2.76 U/L, 11.29 ± 3.47 U/Lvs. 7.95 ± 2.26 U/L;P<0.05), and the activity of GSH-Px was significantly increased(13.79 ± 2.62 U/mg, 14.21 ± 2.87 U/mgvs. 11.90 ± 2.03 U/mg,P<0.05,P<0.01). The histopathological changes of myocardial tissue in SI 160 and 320 mg/kg treated groups were significantly improved.Conclusions SI could effectively lower the plasma glucose level and the blood lipid, improve antioxidant ability, improve antioxidant ability, reduce the damage of free radical, and inhibit the histopathological changes, which suggesting that SI had protective effects on diabetic rats.

Effects of genistein on the mRNA expressions of collagen, matrix metalloproteinase and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase in human embryonic skin fibroblasts

Objective To investigate the effects of genistein on the mRNA expressions of collagen (Col), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP ) and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMP) in human embryonic skin fibroblasts (CCC-ESF-1).MethodsThe cultured CCC-ESF-1cells were divided into a black control group, an estradiol group and genistein groups of different doses. The mRNA expressions of ColⅠ, ColⅢ , MMP-1, TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 were detected by RT-PCR.Results Compared with the black group, estradiol and medium dose of genistein (0.451 ± 0.037, 0.446 ± 0.047vs.0.385 ± 0.061, allP<0.05) could promote the proliferation of the CCC-ESF-1 cells, estradiol and medium dose of genistein could up-regulate the mRNA expressions of ColⅠ (0.960 ± 0.012, 0.929 ± 0.015vs.0.812 ± 0.014, allP<0.01), ColⅢ (0.892 ± 0.009, 0.824 ± 0.022vs.0.768 ± 0.025, allP<0.01), TIMP-1 (0.841 ± 0.023, 0.838 ± 0.053vs.0.751 ± 0.027, allP<0.01) and TIMP-2 (0.456 ± 0.017, 0.448 ± 0.036vs.0.381 ± 0.029, allP<0.01), and down-regulate MMP-1 mRNAexpression (0.398 ± 0.043, 0.402 ± 0.044vs.0.525 ± 0.006, allP<0.01).Conclusions Genistein could promote the proliferation of the CCC-ESF-1 cells, and that may be related with up-regulating the mRNA expressions of ColⅠ, ColⅢ , MMP-1, TIMP-1and down-regulating MMP-1 mRNA expression.
