Researches on core concept of 'preventing possible disease'

Xi CHEN

China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy.2005;0(06):-.

The theory of'preventing possible disease'in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is an important content of present theoretical and applied researches in TCM.After learning Daoxue and Chinese medicine, the author believes that ancient people give more attention to vitality than physique. Most of the diseases are caused by the injury of vitality,so the key to 'preventing possible disease'is not only conservation of the physique, but also conservation of the vitality. It is emphasized that the heart can communicate with natural pneuma, and the body can follow the qi transformation of nature when the human body is in the natural state. When one concentrates his spirit internally and keeps a sound mind, the genuine qi will come in the wake of it,and illness can be avoided.Researches on the theory of'preventing possible disease'must not ignore the apprehension and exploration of vitality.

Observation on Topographical Mapping of Evoked Potential in the Cortical SomatosensoryArea I During Imitating Sensation Conduction along Meridian

Xianglong HU ; Baohua WU ; Jinsen XU

China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy.2005;0(01):-.

Objective: The topographical mapping technique of brain evoked potential was used to observe the changes of the functional activities in the cortical somatosensory area I (SⅠ) during imitating the sensation conduction along the Meridian (SCM). The formation mechanism of sensation conduction was discussed here. Method: 26 healthy adult volunteers were chosen as observe object. Cerebral electric signal processing system was used to record topographical mapping of evoked potential in SⅠ outside the skull. Soft paintbrush was used to slightly brush the Gall Bladder Meridian (GBM) to imitate the sensation conduction. Result: Evoking responses appeared in both foot and face representation areas in SⅠ of 11 healthy volunteers without conduction sensation during imitation of sensation conduction along the GBM (SCGBM), which coincided with the distribution of responses evoked in SI during sensation conduction along Meridian . 15 healthy volunteers were offered imitation of SCGBM as well as brushing through the upper arm additionally, while, the results showed that the evoking responses appeared in the foot, the upper arm and the face representation area of SⅠ. So, it formed a high potential response belt that was similar to the course occurred during the imitation of SCM. Conclusion: The external stimulation along the meridian course can change the distribution of evoking responses in SⅠduring stimulating point. The results provide experimental evidence for the supposition that “activation in sequence in periphery” is the decisive factor for the formation of SCM.

Chinese Medicine, A “Phenomenon-State Medicine” Discipline

Xiuling REN

China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy.2005;0(01):-.

By studying Chinese medicine with judgement standard of scientific discipline of scientific epistemology, it is found that Chinese medicine takes physiological and pathological phenomenon as well as the life state reflected by them during the process of life activities of human body as research object. The method of speculating the interior change from the exterior manifestations is adopted. The discipline has a team of professional scientists that have clear research direction, academic institution, publications, and educational facilities. Chinese medicine is different from western medicine that takes structure and tissues of human body and their functions as study object, as well as adopts anatomical and experimental methods. Chinese medicine and western medicine are two branches of medical science. So, Chinese medicine should ascertain its nature as “Phenomenon-State Medicine”, and foot “Phenomenon-State Medicine” in medical science as a discipline, set up rational faith scientifically and further develop Chinese medicine according to the intrinsic law of “Phenomenon-State Medicine”.

China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy.2005;0(03):-.

Objective: To study the mechanism of effect of total flavone of rhizoma drynariae in groups with different dosage on osteoblasts cultured in vitro. Methods: To culture osteoblasts with UMA-106-01 osteoblast strain and to observe the activity of ALP and the endosmosis of 3H-TdR. Results: The total flavone of rhizoma drynariae increased the activity of ALP in cells cultured with UMR-106-01 strain. The ALP activities correspondingly changed in the 24h, 48h and 72h, which related to dosage effect and time effect. Among them, the activity in the 48h is the most ideal one. And the amount of endosmosis of the total flavone of rhizoma drynariae to 3H-TdR increased more remarkably in the 48h than that in the 24h and it also related to the time effect. Conclusion: The total flavone of rhizoma drynariae can promote the differentiation and multiplication of osteoblasts.
