Ultrasonographic assessement of common carotid artery intima-media thickness in elderly patients with hypertension and/or diabetes

With the results obtained from study realized on 90 "normal" elderly subjects and 686 elderly patients with hypertension and/or diabetes showed that: There is no difference on intima-media thickness (IMT) of carotid artery and its bifurcation between right site and left site. The average IMT at common carotid artery and its bifurcation between is sinificantly higher in elderly patients with hypertension and/or diabetes than in "normal" elderly subjects. The rate of thickness of carotid IMT and its birfucation in the elderly with hypertension and/or diabetes is significantly higher than "normal" elderly subjects. This rate has no difference between age-groups but significantly higher in men.

In vitro IGG and IGM producting cells in leprosis patients with ND-BSA, a semisynthetic antigene of mycobacteria leprae

Leprosy; Patients; Mycobacterium leprae; cells; Mycobacterium leprae; Antigens 18 leprosis patients treated in the Central Institute of Demato-venerlogy, 12 leprosis patients' children, 6 health workers in leprosis sanatoria enrolled medical students were enrolled in the study. ELISA technique was used to determine the process of production of specific antibody to ND-BSA in vitro. IgM antibody was detected in the culture of leprosis sample culture as well as of persons contacting with the patient and health persons. In each individual there can be IgM reaction, or only IgG and IgG together with IgM reaction to this antigene. All subjects who have IgG reaction to ND-BSA have transformed lympho response in vitro to ultracrushed M-leprae antigene and ND-BSA

Evaluation of the pulmonary artery pressure and the function of systolic left ventricular in children with isolated ventricular septal defect by Doppler echocardiography method

Study on some ratios of Doppler echocardiography of 93 patients under 15 years old with a isolated ventricular septal defect, by comparision with control group showed that: 55% patients had pulmonary systolic hypertension, of these 23% severe pulmonary systolic hypertension. There was close correlation of pulmonary artery systolic pressure and: Diameter of defect, and the ratio of pulmonary to systemic flow (Qp/Qs). There was no correlation of pulmonary artery systolic pressure and: Pulmonary artery diameter; Peak gradient between right ventricular and pulmonary artery; Mean gradient between right ventricular and pulmonary artery.

Diagnosis and results of surgery for 39 patients with chronic post-traumatic subdural haematoma treated at the 103 Hospital

Review 39 patients with chronic post-traumatic subdural haematoma, who were treated at the 103 Hospital between January 2000 and July 2003. CT scan is a good method of diagnosis and select surgery. The methods of surgery concluded: Burr-hole cranniostomy for haematoma evacuation and irrigation and closed-system drainge are safe and effective method for treatment. Results: 92.3% patients with good outcome, recurrence occurred in 2 cases, airway injection in 2 cases, there wasn't death.

Restoration of vagina with a flap of mucosa of penis - with a small plastic cavernous body

From June 1993 to October 2001, in Central Institute of Pediatrics and Viet Duc Hospital, 13 cases of plastic surgery were performed to restore the clitoris and vagina. Among them, 12 female patients with virilisant adrenogenital syndrome had had indication of clitoris restoration surgery, 1 patient with true hermaphrodism. The restored clitoris accessed proper size with normal development and sensation

The characteristics of the CT scanner image of acute pancreatitis

Pancreatitis, Acute Necrotizing; Patients; Image Processing, Computer-Assisted; From January 1996 to December 2000, at Viet Duc Hospital, 41 patients were undergone a CT scanning and at the end, an operation or an amylase quantitation with a threefold higher blood level. In most of cases CT scanner showed a size of threefold large than normal pancrea. However no larger size was found in the cases of necrotic of the periphery of the pancrea associated with peripheral infiltrated tissues, on CT image the peripheral infiltrated tisues, the dim borders, the rough parenclyma before and after injection of photocontrast agent are significant signs for diagnosing acute hemorrhagic necrotic pancreatitis

Some clinical observations on ventricle hemorrhage

37 patients (20 male, 17 female) treated in Bach Mai Hospital from May 2000 to March 2002 with definite diagnosis of ventricle hemorrhage. All they were undergone a CT scanning for detecting the blood in brain ventricle by various level and various images. In 19/37 patients by puncture encephalomyelo liquid was examined, in 1 patient there is an artery - venous communicans determined by arrterioangiography. Initial symptoms such as headache, nausea/vomit, conciousness disturbance, hemi-paralytis, seizure, fever, urine retention, uncontrolled urination, eyelid collapsure, dizziness and perspiration. An early diagnosis and proper treatment can decrease the mortality and the disability

Endoscopic and histopathological characteristics of bronchial asthma out of the outbreak crisis

From June 2001 to June 2002, in the Hospital 103, 31 patients aged 16-75 were studied. In 100% of them, brochial endoscopy found the contraction of bronchi under direct mechanical stimuli of the end edge of the endoscopy. This mild contraction flashed and self terminated. Out of the outbreak crisis, in 100% of bronchial biopsy samples, inflammation image appeared, and the bronchial structure changed. The main histopathological exhibitions were the infiltration of essinophile white blood, enlarging of bronchi and of the smooth muscle, the hypertrophy of bronchial epithelia and fibrosis under bronchial epithelia

Tgamadenta in cellular immunity response in vitro to ND-BSA, a semisynthetic antigene of Mycobacterium leprae

58 leprosis patients, aged 12-47 years old, treating in the South, were detected cellular immunity response to ultracrushed M. leprae and ND-BSA. Patients had positive response with ND-BSA. Cells having transformed responsed with ND-BSA are lymphocyte and in 5/12 patients there is a participation, mainly of subpopulation of T lymphocyte, there are Tgamadenta cells. When Tgamadenta was removed from cellular mixt, the absorption of H3-Thymidin uncreased dramatically in both ND-BSA nad BSA culture

Study concerned on general indices, age, gender, propesion, BMI, smoking habit, alcolism, onset point, chronic pathology of lung, clinical signs, the development of disease, functional symptoms - dyspnea, pain of chest; physical symptoms - Guilliard's trial; parachimical examinations, conventionalchest X ray. CT scanning has a high value in classication of pneumothorax lavel and in determination of the causes. Endoscopic of the lung membrane cavity has also therapeutic role. The method is safe and efficacious with few complication
