Experimental Study on Anti-Lipid-Peroxidation of Japanese Raisin Tree (Hovenia dulcis)

Anti-Lipid-Peroxidation of Hovenia dulcis Thunb. in mice was studied. Results showed that H. dulcis Thunb. had the following functions: 1. decrease MAD contents of serum and tissucs of liver and brain. 2. increase SOD activity in tissues of liver, kidney and brain. 3.impart tolerance toward cold and heat, and prolong swimming time of mice. The results indicate tLat H. dulcis Thunb. has function of Anti-Lipid-Peroxidation and may be valuable for the retardation of senility.

Purification and Quantification of Saponin Constituents of Chinese Honeylocust (Gleditsia sinensis)

With purified Gleditsia saponins(PGS)and their aglycone echinocystic acid as standard,the content of saponin constituents from G. sinensis were determined by spectrophotometric method. The recovery of PGS was 101 .3%.

Studies on Chemical Constituents of Rhizome of Sheathstipe Greenbrier (Smilax stans)

From the rhizome of Smilax stans Maxim., nine compounds were isolated and their structures were determined to be friedelin, diosgenin, 3, 5, 4'-trihydroxy stilbene, 3, 5, 3',4' -tetrahydroxy stilbene, n-butanol- O-?- D-fructopyranoside, sitosterol-3-O-?- D-glucoside,dioscin, methyl protodioscin and pseudo protodioscin on the basis of chemical,spectral methods and comparison with authentic samples.

Antiinflammatory Effects of Alcohol Extract of Daoguaniou (Caesalpinia sepiaria var. pubescens)

An tiinflammatory effects of alcohol extract of Caesalpinia sepiarla Roxb. var. pubescent Tang et wang were shown by ip iujection. The extract significantly decreased xylene induced swelling of mice ear; carrageenin produced edema of hind paw in rats, and decreased volume of pleural exudate on carrageenin-induced acute pleurisy of rats. It also inhibited egg white induced arthritis iu rats.LD50 value is 303.7mg/kg by ip in mice, confidence limit of 95% is 296.5 ? 189.4mg/kg.

Study on the Identifi－Cation of Bile－Cyst of Bear by Disc Gel Electrophoresis

Disc polyacrylamide gel clectrophorsis was performed to detect water soluble proteins of the bile－cysts of bear, pig, cow and sheep. The bands of electrophorsis were analysed by means of gel clecrophoresis scan. The results showed that different bile－cysts have different bands.Thus, this method can be used to identify the bile－cyst of bear.
