Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine.2015;(7):125-127. doi:10.3969/j.issn.1005-5304.2015.07.039

Caries is one of the most common chronic progressive oral diseases. TCM medicinal herbs have many advantages compared with traditional dental drugs for caries (such as fluoride). In recent years, cariogenic TCM medicinal herbs have attracted the attention of many domestic and foreign scholars. Caries is not caused by a single factor. The development of caries is closely related to bacterial biofilms that are formed by streptococcus mutans, streptococcus sanguis, actinomyces inside, actinomyces and lactobacillus. Therefore, this article took a brief overview of TCM medicinal herbs and their active ingredients that inhibit the bacterial biofilms.

Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine.2015;(7):51-54. doi:10.3969/j.issn.1005-5304.2015.07.015

Objectives To explore a better inhibitory effect of concentration and time of Celastrol on migration of HepG2 cells. Methods HepG2 cells were planted and cultured in 6-well plates. When the adherent cell density reached 70%-80%, cell migration was manufactured by scratch experiment model. Then, cell morphology and cell migration were observed under microscope with different concentrations of Celastrol 5, 1, 0.5, 0.1, 0.01μmol/L and DMSO at 0, 6, 12, 24 h. They were pictured and rates of cell migration and inhibition ratios of all groups were calculated. Results Celastrol inhibited HepG2 cell migration, and its inhibitory effect on the migration velocity was concentration-dependent in a certain range. The higher the concentration of Celastrol, the stronger effect is. Celastrol of the same concentration at different times had different inhibitory effect on cell migrationof HepG2 cells (P<0.05). Celastrol of different concentrations at the same time had different inhibitory effects on cell migration of HepG2 cells (P<0.05);Celastrol of high concentration cause dsevere changes in the cell morphology. Conclusion Celastrol of high concentration causes changes in the cell morphology and cell apoptosis of HepG2 cells. Celastrol inhibits HepG2 cell migration, which is dependent on the concentration and action time. The inhibitory effect of Celastrol on HepG2 cell migration is most obvious under final concentration of 5μmol/L at 6 h.

Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine.2015;(7):47-50. doi:10.3969/j.issn.1005-5304.2015.07.014

Objective To observe the effects of Jianpi Yangxue Qufeng Formula (JPYXQF) on the AQP3 in mice with chronic eczema, and explore mechanism of action. Methods Fifty healthy male mice were randomly divided into 5 groups, namely normal group, model group, positive medicine group and JPYXQF high and low dose groups. Low-dose DNCB and Sennae Fominm were used to establish mice models of chronic eczema with spleen deficiency. JPYXQF groups were treated by JPYXQF for gavage, while the positive medicine group was treated by levocetirizine hydrochloride for gavage. The expression of AQP3 in mice skin tissue was detected by immunohistochemical method. At the same time, the pathological changes of skin were observed. Results The pathology of mice skin lesion showed that JPYXQF has certain recovery effects on the inflammation injury of skin lesion. Compared with the normal group, expression of AQP3 over expressed in model group. Compared with the model group, the expression of AQP3 in all treatment groups significantly decreased, and the staining intensity decreased. In the model group, the average optical density of AQP3 was significantly higher than that in the normal group (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the treatment groups can reduce the expression of AQP3 in mice skin tissues (P<0.05). Conclusion JPYXQF can reduce the over expression of AQP3 in skin lesion, which is probably its mechanism for the treatment of chronic eczema.
