Reliability,validity and sensitivity of Chinese scale for clinical neurological deficit of stroke patients

0.8.There was concurrent validity between CSS and NIHSS(r=0.86).The prognosis prediction accuracy of CSS was 92.4%,slightly lower than that of NIHSS(94.1%).Logistic regression showed that CSS's "gaze function" and "facial paralysis" were not included in the prediction equation.The facial paralysis had a SES of 0.38,all others had a SES higher than 0.5.Most fields showed a good sensitivity.Conclusion: CSS shows an acceptable reliability,validity and sensitivity in patients with stroke,but the predicative validity of CSS is inferior to that of NIHSS,which needs be further revised.

STUDIES ON THE STABILITY OF FTORAFUR LIPOSOME

The stability of the authors' self-formulated Ftorafur liposome was studied by the classical isothermal method at 60, 70 & 80℃. The particle size distribution of the particulates and the rate of their coalescence were determined by using the Coulter counter. It was shown that the change of particle size of Ftorafur liposome was a first-order reaction. The rate equation and the activation energy of coalescence and the kinetic constant of coalescence at room temperature were derived. The particle size distribution, appearance and homogeneity changed just slightly after storage at room temperature and in refrigerator (5℃) for 30 months, respectively. Drug enclosed within liposome leaked out about 3.8 % after storage for 3 months at 37℃ (?0.1℃). The above results indicate that the Ftorafur liposome is rather stable.

Relationship between Pancreatic and Pulmonary Injury in Rat Acute Pancreatitis

Rat acute pancreatitis was induced by the injection of dog bile into a closed duodenal loop. It was found that lung index and extravascular lung water were significantly increased 6 h after the induction of pancreatitis. Histological examination revealed pulmonary congestion, edema, and atelecta-sis. There was a strong correlation between pancreatic and pulmonary injury. Increased serum and lung lipid peroxide (LPO) was parallel to the degree of pancreatic and lung injury. The results indicate that increase in LPO may be a result of pancreatitis-induced lung injury.

The Imaging Study of Anti-osteosarcoma Monoclonal Antibodies Localized on Human Bone Tumors

For the purpose of improving the accordance rate with early diagnosis of osteosarcoma, we used the osteosarcoma cell line (HOS-8603) to establish 6 cell lines of anti-human osteosarcoma monoclonal antibodies (OSMAb) and sifted out 2 lines (OSMAb-H7, OSMAb-B4) through ELISA and immunofluorescent methods, which could secrete antibodies with high specificity. By antibodies prepared, purified and labeled with 125I we performed a series of experiments in NC nude mouse osteosarcoma models of soft tissue and bone tissue, and found the guiding localization showed stronger specificity. Then we chose OSMAb-B4 treated by bacterial filtration and labeled with 131I to do ?-scintigraphical localization examinations in 8 cases of bone tumor and obtained satisfactory results.

Vascularized and Nonvascularized Free Bone-Grafts for Mandibular Defects in Dogs

An experimental study of vascularized and nonvascularized free bone-grafts for mandibular defects in dogs was conducted.The different bone healing process was observed by histological study.The results show that with 3 cm-length bone graft either vascularized or nonvascularized its healing process is similar.Both bones of donor and receptor have osteogenic activity.This process is similar to that of fracture healing.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHANGES OF FIBRONECTIN IN WOUND FLUID AND WOUND HEALING

The present study has been carried out in 10 dogs, in which fibronectin in wound fluid and plasma was measured with single radial immunodiffusion. Fibronectin in wound fluid rose from 24 hours to 7 days after fracture.The mean increase of fibronectin level was 0.79 (p0.05)at 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours, respectively.To our knowledge, there has been no report on the regularity of the changes of fibronectin in wound fluid before, and a close correlation(r= 0.9986,p

THE PERFORMANCE OF TYPE J.T. WATER-PURIFIER AND OBSERVATION ON THE EFFECT OF IT

Type J.T. water-purifier with a lately developed material-polyethyelene actived carbon compound media as purification media is a new type purifier for drinking water. It can not only be used to remove insoluble small particles suspending in water, but also separate soluble matter which is detrimental to human body (such as chlorine, phenol and mercury etc) from water. It is shown to be of better effect of filtration by the results of experiment carried out both in laboratory and in running water. After being filtered, clear and transparent water with a nice taste can be obtained. The removal efficient of metal ions is more than 50 per cent and that of harmful matters extremely high, A long-term drinking of thus purified water would not bring about the lack of metal ions necessary for human body. Bacteria are not to be retained and multiplied in the water-purifier. The purification media can be regenerated and employed repeatedly. This kind of water-purifier is applicable for family, army, school and restaurant.

OBSERVATIONS ON NON-GRANULOMATIC LEUKAEMIA BY ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

This report described the cell ultrastructure in six cases of non-granulocytic leukaemia (two cases each for acute lymphocytic, and acute monocytic leukaemia, and two for multiple myeloma) .According to their ultrastructural characteristics, the differential diagnosis of the three leukaemic cell types and the nature of their dense granules and cytoplasmic fibrils under the electron microscopy have been discussed.

EXTRACTION AMD CLINICAL DETERMINATION OF PANCREATIC TISSUE CARCINOMA ANTIGEN

In this study, pancreatic tissue carcinoma antigen (PCA) was extracted from human pancreatic adenocarcinoma tissue, partially purified by chromatography, and confirmed by immunological methods. It was demonstrated by immunofluore-scence technique thatPCA resided in the cytoplasm and plasma membrane of pancreatic carcinoma cells. The specific antisera against PCA was acquired from immunized rabbits. The antiPCA antibody had specificity to sera with pancreatic carcinoma cells. We established ELISA for determination of PCA, and detected 233 cases of pancreatic carcinoma, alimentary cancer and alimentary benign disease with ELISA. It is indicated that PCA is clearly different from other tumor markers such as PCA, CEA and POA, and is a new tumor marker specific to pancreatic carcinoma.

MYOTONIC SYNDROME (A Report of Myotonica Congenita and Myotonica Dystrophia each in 5 Families)

This paper presents 14 cases of rnyotonia congenita in 5 families and 21 cases of myotonica dystrophia in another 5 famlies.The former consists of 10 males,4 females, age at 8-32; the latter consists of 17 males, 4 females, age at 10-28. The symptoms are classical. With myotonia congenita, there are difficulty in relaxation following strenous muscle contraction, percussion myotonia and elec-tromyographic myotonic response; while in myotonica dystrophia, there are multisystemic involvement including myotonia and muscular atrophy simultaneously, accompanied by frontal baldness, myopia, cataracts, testicular atrophy, bundle-branch heart block, hypofunction of thyroid gland and adrenal gland, etc. Electromyography also shown myotonic response.The muscle biopsy of two cases of myotonica dystrophia shown non-specific muscle degenration and atrophy.But the nerve endings and motor plates are intact on special staining. The inherited pattern,important diagnostic points and the values of muscle biopsy are discussed.
