CT Analysis of 20 Cases of Brain Abscess

Yenming BAO

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

CT signs of 20 cases of brain abscess confirmed surgically and pathologically were analyzed in this article. They are often of hypodense lesions with obscure borders. Their periphery presents an isodense image before contrast enhancement, and a clear circular and thin-wall enhancement after contrast enhancement. We conclude that it is necessary to differentiate brain abscess from some intracranial tumors and cerebral cysticercosis sometimes.

Toxicological and General Pharmacological Studies of Coleus forskohlii Oral Solution

Xinhua WANG

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

Coleus forskohlii oral solution is a composite preparation containing several effective constituents of the plant, such as isoforskolin, 1-acetylforskolin etc.Following ig administration of the oral solution equivalent to≤35 g (raw herb)/kg to mice, neither toxic reaction nor death was observed. After the oral solution 30, 15, 10 g/(kg?d)?60 ig to rats, their appearance, body weight, and hematological, biochemical and pathological investigations were basically normal. In anesthetized rabbits intraduodenally administered the oral solution≤10g/kg, the respiration, airway secretion, blood pressure, ECG and EEG did not change significantly. These results indicate that Coleus forskohlii oral solution is a quite safe preparation.

Department of a in Vitro Culture System of Osteoblasts Isolated from Juvenile Rabbit Periosteum

Hua ZHANG

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

We have developed a in vitro culture system of osteoblasts isolated from juvenile rabbit periosteum. The cultivation could be served as an osteoblast biological model. The newly developed method has the following advantages: (a) The periosteum is easy to obtain. (b) The periosteal cambium layer contains a great deal of osteoblasts. (c) The procedure of isolating osteoblasts from periosteum is less complex than that from bone tissue. The cultivation could be regarded as a useful technique for studying the metabolism and osteogenic capacity of osteoblasts in vitro.

An Approach to the Relationship between Trace Elements Zn, Cu and Cd in Maternal Serum, Umbilical Serum and Placenta

Lixiao ZHOU

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

In our research, we let 30 cases with parturient hypertension syndrome (PHS) as the experimental group and 30 other cases of normal pregnancy as the control group. The Cu, Zn and Cd of each sample collected from maternal serum, umbilical serum and placenta were surveyed by means of the atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results chowed as follows: 1.The maternal serum Zn level of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group (P0.05) in the Zn, Cu level and Cu/Zn ratio of the umbilical serum and placenta between the experimental and control group. 4. There was no coordination in the Zn, Cu lenel and Cu/Zn ratio (r0.05) between 2 groups, but the Zn level and Cu/Zn ratio of the placenta and umbilical serum showed coordination between the 2 groups (Zn: r=0.44, p

An Epidemiological Survey of Acute Diarrhea in Rural Yizu Minority Children under 5 Years of Age in Lunan County

Tongyin WANG

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

A prospective survey was made on acute diarrhea in rural Yizu minority children under 5 years of age in Lunan County, Yunnan Province between 1986-1987. Through the investigation of 2 years of 1016 children under 5 years of age, the incidence of acute diarrhea was 1.43?0.07 times per child—year. The highest incidence rate was in the childen aged 0.5—1 year. The epidemic season was from April to June, but the cases occurred all the year round. ETEC was the most frequently identified pathogen (39.1%) and rotavirus the second (26%). The main risk factor of the acute diarrhea was drinking pond and ditch water.

Establishment of a Human Lymphoblastoid Cell Line from Human Lymph Node

Zhilong CHEN

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

A human lymphoblastoid cell line named KGHLY, which has been established from a human lymph node, is reported in this paper. KGHLY grew in suspension and formed clamps easily. It grew rapidly and the population doubling time of the 30th generation cells was 26 hours. Under the light and electron microscope the culture cells were similar to lymphoblastoid cells in morphology and structure. The cells secreted IgM. Surface marker studies showed that there were no receptors for sheep erythrocytes. The results suggested that the cells derived from B lymphocytes. The karyotype was aneuploid with a modal chromosome number of 44—46. It has lasted for over one year through seventy passages. The cells stored in liquid nitrogen and their revival was fine. This cell line will be available material for the study of lymphoblastoid cells and human-human hybridoma.

Analysis of Hepatocyte Ploidy of Rats at Different Age of with Liver Regeneration

Zongji ZHANG

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

The suspension of rat intact liver cells at different age or with liver regeneration was prepared. The isolated hepatocytes were smeared. The number of nuclei per cell was determined and the DNA content of each single nucleus was measured by a microspectrophotometer at a wavelength of 560nm. The transformation of the diploid population of hepatocytes in newborn animals into a practically exclusive polyploid took place during their postnatal growth. Analysis of rat hepatocytes undergoing liver regeneration following two-thirds partial hepatectomy revealed that there was an increase in tetraploid cells and a decrease in diploid and binuclear ones. The polyploidization appeared to be temporarily accelerated under the stimulus of proliferation.

Signifioant Influence of Sample Processing on the Assay of Adenine Nucleotides, Lactate and Pyruvate in Rat Muscle

Jiming YE

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

An ideal assay of adenine nucleotides, lactate and pyruvate in the extract of rat freeze-clamped muscle was achieved. Electromicroscopy showed that the cell membrane was destroyed by powdering the muscle in liquid N_2 and then homogenizing for 1 min. An additien of ultrasonic treatment for 1 min could thoroughly break the subcellular structures and lead to a remarkable increase in ATP and total adenine nucleotides with a little change of lactate and pyruvate. The prolongation of the treatment for two more minutes, however, could result in the breakdown of ATP.

Synchronous Determination of Creatine Compounds, Adenine Nucleotides, Hypoxanthine and Inosine with HPLC

Yuechun ZHU

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

Synchronous determination of creatine Compounds, adenine nucleotides, hypoxanthine and inosine with reversed—phase HPLC was studied. The distinct separation was achieved within 10 minutes at 210nm using radial—PAK C_(18) Cartridge column under an isocratic elution of 220mmol/L K_2HPO_4/KH_2PO_4, mmol/L TBA and 13% methanol. This method proved to be reproducible, simple and accurate.

Clinical Evaluation of the Urinary ?—HCG ELISA for Diagnosis of Early Pregnancy — An Analysis of 375 Cases

Yi TIAN

Journal of Kunming Medical University.1989;0(01):-.

0.05).We conclude that the urine ?—HCG ELISA has the same value as RIA in the early pregnancy diagnosis. It may be used as a routine method, because it is without radiactivity, and simpler, cheaper, more rapid and practical than RIA, especially it is easy to be generalized in the country.
