1.Setting up a telenursing training program for heart failure self-care education.

Given the complex nature of heart failure (HF), nurses in clinical practice and nurse educators should employ a methodical approach in providing effective health education to the patient and their families even remotely. However, the limited training programs available and unprecedented nature of COVID-19 has rendered nurses less prepared to deliver heart failure self-care education. The purpose of this article is to describe the development, implementation, and evaluation of a training program which aim to equip nurses with specific skills in delivering heart failure self-care education using information and communication technologies (telenursing) in the context of the physical restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Four phases of program development and implementation were done: (1) Phase I: Planning Phase; (2) Phase II: Needs Assessment; (3) Phase III: Designing the Health Program; and (4) Phase IV- Implementation and Evaluation. Twenty-three nurses from a tertiary private hospital participated via video conferencing in the pilot implementation of the program led by doctorate students. Using Kaufman’s approach in qualitative evaluation, participants reported the training content, materials, and the method of delivery which were valuable, meaningful, and acceptable to them. They perceived the program further enhanced their competencies, and improved patient and organizational outcomes. Taking on a proactive role, nurses should explore measures of enhancing nurses’ knowledge and skills in self-care education through information and communication technologies (ICT). This training program based on participative planning and collaboration between academia and practice proves to be feasible and requires further empirical studies to test its effectiveness in real-word settings.

2.Development and effect of the online HIV Prevention and Care Training (HPCT) program for student nurses

Student nurses must be competently prepared to address the rising human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic in the Philippines. This article presents the development and effect of the online HIV Prevention and Care Training (HPCT) program for student nurses. The Iowa Model-Revised guided the development of the program. Literature review, student and faculty engagements, advocate participation, resources and protocol assessment, and pre-HPCT survey analysis were systematically performed to determine the contents and delivery of the program. The participants were 2nd and 3rd year level student nurses who were asked to answer the pre- and post-HPCT online surveys containing sociodemographic, HIV knowledge, attitudes, and perceived practices, and program evaluation questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed using SPSS version 23. Student nurses in the post-HPCTsurvey obtained significantly higher HIV knowledge scale mean scores (mean=18.22, SD=4.138) than those in the pre-HPCT survey (mean=15.01, SD=4.069) (p=.000). Pre- to post-HPCT survey revealed significant decreases in the proportions of student nurses who agreed on the following: HIV-positive patients should not be put in rooms with other patients when admitted to hospital (44.3%, 31.6%; p=.004); the need to worry about putting family and friends at risk of contracting the disease when caring for a person with HIV/AIDS (39.7%, 26.4%; p=.002); and healthcare workers are worried of getting HIV/AIDS from caring for a person with HIV/AIDS in their work environment (47.2%, 37.5%; p=.011). Significantly, more student nurses in the post-HPCT survey agreed in all the items of the HIV practice scale than those in the pre-HPCT survey. The online HPCTprogram was acceptable with beneficial effects on student nurses' HIV knowledge, attitudes, and perceived practices. There is a need to highlight basic HIV concepts and integrate HIV developments in the education of student nurses.

3.UV protection for young athletes: using participatory program planning to develop a sports schools program.

BACKGROUND:
The incidence of melanoma increased rapidly throughout the last decades, with overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation being an established risk factor. Due to their intensive sun exposure, many student athletes (SAs) have an increased risk for skin cancer. The Clever in Sun and Shade Program (CSSP) aims at enforcing positive attitudes toward UV protection (UVP) and at supporting sports schools in establishing UVP strategies.
METHODS:
CSSP was developed in 2019 using participatory program planning (PPP) as well as following WHO recommendations for UVP at schools. After drafting first material, within a PPP groups were conducted at a partner school (convenience sample 1) with students (n = 20), teachers (n = 5), school administration (n = 2), and coaches (n = 5). Materials were then adapted. Program acceptance and feasibility were tested at two further schools (convenience sample 2) with PPP groups of students (n = 95) and school administration (n = 2). Content analyses and descriptive statistics were conducted.
RESULTS:
Less than 50% of SAs and coaches of sample 1 expressed positive attitudes toward UVP, less than 10% reported appropriate UVP behavior. By using PPP, program material was adapted to the target groups' needs, i.e., by including specific barriers and solutions. Only the most accepted video drafts were produced. The majority of SAs of sample 2 (80-86%) used predominantly positive adjectives such as "important" and "positive" to describe the completed videos and the behavior self-check poster.
CONCLUSIONS
PPP process has greatly influenced concept and materials of CSSP for sports schools. Integration of future program participants has proven to be an important component in creating a fitting and feasible program. CSSP for sports schools is a program free of charge that enables sports schools to integrate UVP into their daily routine. It will be disseminated in cooperation with German Olympic Sports Confederation and German Cancer Aid in 2021.

Construction of research-based surgery department includes standardizing surgical practices, collecting and analyzing clinical data, discovering problems in clinical practices, designing and conducting reliable and high-level clinical research, improving and innovating surgical technologies according to research conclusions, working out technical specifications and promoting them through clinical education, and creating new clinical research needs arised by innovative and cutting-edge technologies and theories. By integrating technology, research, standardization, promotion and evaluation, and making close connections between different parts of clinical practices, scientific research and clinical teaching, it helps achieve coordinated development of surgical practices and translational research, and will finally promote the cultivation of medical talents and the progress of medical technologies. Since 2010, the General Surgery Department of Nanfang Hospital has established the basic idea of subject construction of "research-oriented surgery with data as the core, minimally invasive surgery with laparoscopic as the characteristic, and specialized surgery with high-efficiency service as the guidance", and has taken a series of measures to build it into a well-known research-based gastrointestinal surgery in China. The achievements of this speciaty have emerged from nothing, research platforms from few to many, the talent echelon from following to leading, and the influence from regional to international. The discipline construction has achieved a leap from quantitative to qualitative changes.

5.Development of Web-Based Cognitive Training Program : Preliminary Study

program entitled Web-based Cognitive Training (Web-CoT) developed for the elderly in the community.METHODS: Of the elderly aged 65 or older who have visited in the Local Dementia Centers located in Chungcheongbuk-do, a total of 29 participants took part in a 10-week Web-CoT program. The Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD-K) Assessment Packet 2nd edition and short form of Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS) were evaluated before and after the program.RESULTS: Total SGDS scores have decreased and a significant increase in CERAD-K total scores was confirmed. Details including word list memory, word list recall, constructional praxis, trail making, and stroop tests, improved. Especially in the case of free recall test, the greater increase of scores in elderly with high risk of dementia was shown.CONCLUSION: Participation in this program has confirmed improvements in verbal memory registration and retrieval ability, attention and executive function. Since the improvement was especially prominent in memory retrieval ability in elderly with high risk of dementia, it can be said that early application of the program before the diagnosis of dementia is important.]]>

6.Impact of a pharmacy-led smoking cessation clinic in a dermatology centre.

INTRODUCTION:
Cigarette smoking is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, and has a deleterious effect on dermatological conditions, such as skin cancers, hidradenitis suppurativa and psoriasis. The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a pharmacist-led smoking cessation clinic in reducing cigarette smoking at a tertiary referral dermatology centre. We described the impact of this clinic to provide guidance on how such a model could be further improved and implemented more widely.
METHODS:
In this single-centre, retrospective study, 74 currently smoking patients who received counselling at a structured smoking cessation clinic between January 2010 and March 2013 were identified. Information on baseline demographic characteristics and detailed past medical history, including smoking history, was collected. Follow-up was conducted at two weeks and three months.
RESULTS:
At the first follow-up at two weeks, which was attended by 57 patients, 9 (15.8%) had stopped smoking and 26 (45.6%) showed reduction in the number of cigarette sticks smoked per day, with an average reduction of 4.1 cigarette sticks per day. However, a few patients also reported no change or increased number of cigarette sticks smoked per day following counselling.
CONCLUSION
A structured pharmacist-led smoking cessation clinic is effective and can be made a part of the holistic management of dermatological conditions.

7.Development and Evaluation of Empowering Education Program for Maternal Fetal Intensive Care Unit (MFICU) Nurses

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to develop an empowering education program for Maternal-Fetal Intensive Care Unit (MFICU) nurses who provide intensive care to high-risk mother and fetus at hospitals, to test effects of the education program on nursing care confidence and nursing knowledge, and to examine program satisfaction. METHODS: This study comprised of 2 phases: program development and evaluation. First, we have followed a process of program development to develop and refine an empowering education program for MFICU nurses through collaborative works among clinical obstetrics and gynecology doctors and nurses and academic nursing professors. Second, the empowering education program was provided to 49 nurses and evaluated from July 5 to 6, 2019. Levels of MFICU nursing care confidence and knowledge were measured. RESULTS: The empowering education program included 18 hours of lectures, discussion, and Q & A, which continued for 2 days. This program significantly improved high-risk maternal-fetal nursing care confidence and knowledge of nurses. The program was well met with nurses' education need and goals, and found to be highly satisfactory. CONCLUSION: The empowering education program was observed to be effective in terms of improve nursing care confidence and knowledge of nurses in MFICU. It is proposed that this program should be open regularly for nurses to obtain and improve their clinical knowledge, confidence, and competency. Further study is needed to develop and run 2-levels of education such as basic and advanced levels based on nurses' clinical background and competency.

8.Ankle Sprain Affects Lower Leg Muscle Activation on Vertical Landing, Half Point, and Gait in Female Ballet Students

PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate effect of ankle instability on peripheral muscle activation among female ballet dancers to provide information on the development of prevention programs for ankle injury rehabilitation. METHODS: 32 female ballet dancers were randomly divided into two groups: experience ankle sprain group (n=16, age, 20.7±0.8years, BMI 18.6±1.2kg/m2) and non-experience ankle sprain group (n=16, age=21.0±0.8 years, BMI 19.6±2.0kg/m2). Activation of the peroneus longus, tibialis anterior muscle, and gastrocnemius during vertical landing, half pointe, and gait between the two groups were measured. Body composition analyzer was used to examine skeletal muscle mass and body fat mass. RESULTS: A total of 32 patients were included. In the experience ankle sprain group (n=16: left sprain 14, right sprain 2), average ankle sprain injury occurred 7.5 months before the study. The average age of the dancers in the experience ankle sprain group and non-experience ankle sprain group was 20.7±0.8 and 21.0±0.8years, major period was 64.5±23.8 and 71.6±25.8months, BMI was 18.6±1.2 and 19.5±2.0kg/m2, respectively. No significant differences were found on body composition between the two groups (p>0.05). The experience ankle sprain group showed significantly lower tibialis anterior and peroneus longus muscle activation (p<0.5), while gastrocnemius muscle activation appeared to be significantly higher (p<0.05) during landing, half pointe, and normal gait. CONCLUSION: Ankle sprain can cause a decline in peripheral muscle activation and coordination, which increased the risk for repetitive ankle sprain in the future. Moreover, ankle peripheral muscle selective strength training, coordination program development, and application need to be considered to prevent ankle sprain.

9.Comparison of Lower Extremity Muscle Function and Proprioception According to Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Taekwondo Demonstration Players

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for injury prevention and rehabilitation program development of Taekwondo demonstration team by comparing lower extremity muscles function and proprioceptive senses of Taekwondo demonstration team with or without anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The subjects were ACL injured Taekwondo demonstration player group (ATD, n=13) who underwent ACL reconstruction and Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration player group (KTD, n=13) without injury history.METHODS: To evaluate the lower extremity muscles function, we measured the flexor-extensor muscle strength ratio and isokinetic muscle strength of the knee joint using a isokinetic muscle strength measuring device. In order to investigate the proprioceptive sensory function, position sense, and threshold to detection of passive motion was using a isokinetic muscle strength measuring device. The experiment was conducted on average 26 months after surgery.RESULTS: The results of this study are as follows. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the knee joint flexor-extensor ratio. But there was a significant difference in Knee joint flexion and extension strength between two groups at an angular velocity of 60°/sec, 180°/sec, and 300°/sec. and KTD group was higher than ATD groups (p=0.014, p=0.001, p=0.029, p=0.005, p=0.043, p=0.041, respectively). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the proprioceptive sensory test.CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that the normal flexor to extensor ratio (50%–70%), But it was close to the injury risk level. Therefore, the training program for the improvement of the muscle strength and the imbalance of the strength of the lower extremity muscle function should be performed in both groups.

10.The Effects of Team-based Simulation Education on Problem Solving Process, Communication Ability and Communication Confidence of Nursing Students

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of simulation education using team-based on problem solving process, communication ability and communication confidence of nursing students. The study used a one group, pre-post test design. The subjects of this study were 88 nursing college students. self-reported questionnaires were collected between March 3 and June 21, 2019. As a result, There was a statistically significant difference in the problem-solving process: 3.37 points beforehand, 3.53 points after death, 3.36 points after communication, 3.54 points after the fact, and communication confidence increased from 6.39 points before to 7.64 points. After team-based simulation training, problem solving process is a communication ability, communicator confidence. The results of this study show that team-based simulation training has been effective in improving problem resolution, communication skills and communication confidence, so it can be used as a basis for future standardized program development.
