Japan is one of the main trading partners for the import and export of experimental animals in China,and its quarantine and supervision policies for the import and export of experimental animals are very detailed and strict.This article takes experimental dogs,cats,and monkeys as examples to provide an in-depth analysis of the quarantine and supervision policies for the main experimental animals exported to Japan.At the same time,it reflects on the current laws and regulations,import and export management method,standards,biosafety,breeding and management status,as well as the import and export business status of experimental animals in China.Suggestions are provided in improving the laws and regulations,import and export management method,ensuring national biosafety,improving the management level of experimental animal breeding,and promoting the import and export trade of experimental animals,in order to provide reference for comprehensively improving the production,use,and breeding management level of experimental animals in China and strengthening the trade between China and Japan.

ABSTRACT: Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial neoplasm with diverse pathological types and complicated clinical manifestations. The fifth edition of the WHO Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System (WHO CNS5), published in 2021, introduces major changes that advance the role of molecular diagnostics in meningiomas. To follow the revision of WHO CNS5, this expert consensus statement was formed jointly by the Group of Neuro-Oncology, Society of Neurosurgery, Chinese Medical Association together with neuropathologists and evidence-based experts. The consensus provides reference points to integrate key biomarkers into stratification and clinical decision making for meningioma patients. Objective To explore the clinical feasibility and safety of early intervention for severe stenosis of non-infarct related artery(non-IRA)in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI) and multi-vessel disease(MVD)after successful primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)for infarct-asso-ciated artery(IRA). Methods From May 1st,2011 to December 30th,2016,165 patients with STEMI and MVD were enrolled in our study. After the completion of primary PCI in IRA ,75 patients still in the hospital agreed to undergo a second staged PCI in severe stenosis of non-infarct arteries. We analyzed the in-hospital adverse events ,the length of hospital stay and clinical outcomes during the follow-up in the study population. Results There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups during hos-pitalization. However,compared to patients treated with the IRA-only PCI,those treated with early intervention for severe stenosis of non-IRA was associated with greater benefits for clinical outcomes(including rehospitalization for heart failure,rehospitalization for ACS,recurrent angina pectoris,necessity for reintervention)during the follow-up except for the all-cause mortality. Conclusion Early intervention for severe stenosis of non-IRA is a feasible and safe procedure in patients with acute STEMI and MVD after successful primary PCI.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary leucine supplementation on mitochondrial biogenesis and energy metabolism in the liver of normal birth weight (NBW) and intrauterine growth-retarded (IUGR) weanling piglets. MATERIALS/METHODS: A total of sixteen pairs of NBW and IUGR piglets from sixteen sows were selected according to their birth weight. At postnatal day 14, all piglets were weaned and fed either a control diet or a leucine-supplemented diet for 21 d. Thereafter, a 2 × 2 factorial experimental design was used. Each treatment consisted of eight replications with one piglet per replication. RESULTS: Compared with NBW piglets, IUGR piglets had a decreased (P < 0.05) hepatic adenosine triphosphate (ATP) content. Also, IUGR piglets exhibited reductions (P < 0.05) in the activities of hepatic mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH), citrate synthase (CS), α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (α-KGDH), malate dehydrogenase (MDH), and complexes I and V, along with decreases (P < 0.05) in the concentration of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and the protein expression of hepatic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator 1α (PGC-1α). Dietary leucine supplementation increased (P < 0.05) the content of ATP, and the activities of CS, α-KGDH, MDH, and complex V in the liver of piglets. Furthermore, compared to those fed a control diet, piglets given a leucine-supplemented diet exhibited increases (P < 0.05) in the mtDNA content and in the mRNA expressions of sirtuin 1, PGC-1α, nuclear respiratory factor 1, mitochondrial transcription factor A, and ATP synthase, H+ transporting, mitochondrial F1 complex, β polypeptide in liver. CONCLUSIONS: Dietary leucine supplementation may exert beneficial effects on mitochondrial biogenesis and energy metabolism in NBW and IUGR weanling piglets.

Objective:To analyze the clinical and physical tactors associated with acute bone marrow suppression in concurrent chemo-radiotherapy for rectal cancer and to provide a reference standard for the best clinical treatment plan. Methods:Retrospective analy-sis was performed on 62 patients with rectal cancer who received concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy in our department. The pelvis was contoured for each patient in the radiotherapy treatment planning system and divided into three subsites: lumbosacral spine, ilium, and lower pelvis. Prognostic clinical and physical factors were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analyses. Evaluated prognostic clinical factors included sex, age, clinical stage, original hemoglobin levels, and chemotherapy, operation, and radiation modes;physical factors included V5, V10, V15, V20, V25, V30, V35, V40, V45, V50, Dmax, and Dmean of lumbosacral spine, ilium, low-er pelvis, and pelvis. Results:The percentage of patients who developed acute bone marrow suppression (≥2 grade) was 61.3%(38/62).Univariate analysis of related factors revealed statistically significant differences were sex, chemotherapy, lumbosacral spine V45, il-ium V20, and ilium V30. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that chemotherapy and ilium V30 are the risk factors for acute bone marrow suppression. The receiver operating curve showed that the threshold of ilium V30 was 44%. Conclusion:Acute bone marrow suppression is influenced by more than one factor;local control rate of the tumor and acute bone marrow suppression are tradeoffs in rectal cancer treatment. An appropriate chemotherapy method should be selected, and ilium V30 must be maintained below 44%to prevent bone marrow suppression in rectal cancer patients.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of allitridum on rapidly delayed rectifier potassium current (IKr) in HEK293 cell line.

METHODSHEK293 cells were transiently transfected with HERG channel cDNA plasmid pcDNA3.1 via Lipofectamine. Allitridum was added to the extracellular solution by partial perfusion after giga seal at the final concentration of 30 µmol/L. Whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to record the HERG currents and gating kinetics before and after allitridum exposure at room temperature.

RESULTSThe amplitude and density of IHERG were both suppressed by allitridum in a voltage-dependent manner. In the presence of allitridum, the peak current of IHERG was reduced from 73.5∓4.3 pA/pF to 42.1∓3.6 pA/pF at the test potential of +50 mV (P<0.01). Allitridum also concentration-dependently decreased the density of the IHERG. The IC50 of allitridum was 34.74 µmol/L with a Hill coefficient of 1.01. Allitridum at 30 µmol/L caused a significant positive shift of the steady-state activation curve of IHERG and a markedly negative shift of the steady-state inactivation of IHERG, and significantly shortened the slow time constants of IHERG deactivation.

CONCLUSIONAllitridum can potently block IHERG in HEK293 cells, which might be the electrophysiological basis for its anti-arrhythmic action.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the regulating effect of Ginkgo biloba extract 50 (GBE50) on pre-inflammatory factors interleukin-1 beta (IL-1beta), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and anti-inflammatory factors interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-10 (IL-10) of hippocampus in senile rats, in order to explore the protective mechanism of GBE50 on central nervous system of senile animals.

METHODSD rats were randomly divided into four groups: the normal group, the model group, the GBE50 group and the EGB761 group. Rats were intraperitoneally injected with 100 mg x kg(-1) D-galactose every day for 42 days to establish the senile rat model. At the 21st day, the GBE50 group and the EGB761 group were orally administered with 60 mg x kg(-1) for 21 days. IL-1beta mRNA and TNF-alpha mRNA expressions were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay, IL-1beta and TNF-alpha protein expressions were detected by immunohistochemistry, IL-4 and IL-10 protein contents were detected by ELISA.

RESULTD-galactose caused imbalance between pre-inflammatory factors and anti-inflammatory factors of hippocampus in senile rats, GBE50 and EGB761 reduced IL-1beta mRNA expression (P < 0.05) and TNF-alpha and IL-1beta protein level (P < 0.01) and up-regulated IL-10 protein content (P < 0.01, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe mechanism of GBE50 in protecting central nervous system is probably related to its effect in mitigating inflammatory of central nervous system.

OBJECTIVE To understand the relationship between the detection rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Children′s Hospital wards from Jan 2008 to Sep 2008 and disinfection and isolation in the department and investigate the change in antimierobial resistance of P.aeruginosa to provide basis for reasonable use of antibiotics in clinical practice.METHODS The clinically isolated P.aeruginosa strains were collected,cultured and identified by paper diffusing method.The results were evaluated according to the relevant documents of NCCLS of USA.RESULTS The resistant rates of P.aeruginosa to Ampicillin,Ampicillin/Sulbactam,ceftriaxone,cefazolin and SMI were higher than 98%.Their resistant rate to Levofloxacin and IMP was the lowest(about 2% or so).CONCLUSIONS Effective disinfection and isolation of P.aeruginosa should be performed.Selection of antimicrobial drugs should be according to the results of drug susceptibility,reduce the rate of bacterial resistance.

[Objective] To explore the effect of wind-expelling and blood-cooling therapy in treating chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) . [Methods] Thirteen cases of chronic ITP differentiated in TCM as heat-induced blood extravasation (group A) were treated with wind-expelling and blood-cooling therapy. The changes of peripheral T-lymphocyte subsets and natural killer (NK) cells before and after treatment were observed and compared with the normal volunteers (group B).
