Gap junction(GJ),also known as gap junction,is widely found between neurons and glial cells, and can connect neighboring cells and mediate the transmission of electrical sig-nals between neighboring cells. The GJ channel, which exists between neurons and mediates intercellular electrical signaling,is also known as an electrical synapse.Connexins(Cxs)are the molecular basis of GJ,and are expressed to different degrees in different neurons and glial cells. The presence of GJ mediates different functions among neurons and glial cells, which further influences the establishment of various mature neural circuits,re-flecting the importance of GJ in the maintenance of neural cir-cuits.This review summarizes the relationship between GJ and neural circuits in relation to the effects of GJ and different Cxs on neurons and glial cells, providing new research ideas for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders.

Objective:To explore the application of modified scrotoscopic surgery(MSS)in the treatment of testicular hydro-cele.Methods:We selected 45 cases of testicular hydrocele for this study,22 treated by traditional scrotoscopic surgery(TSS)and the other 23 by MSS,which was performed with a pin-shaped electrode bent inward at an angle of 60° instead of a circular electrode used in TSS.We recorded the general clinical data, operation time, incision length, intraoperative injury, incision infection, scrotal e-dema,postoperative hospital stay and postoperative Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores of the patients and compared them between the two groups. Results:There was no statistically significant difference in the general clinical data between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the patients of the TSS group, those of the MSS group showed significantly shorter operative time([32.86±3.80]vs[26.13±2.81]min,P<0.05),incision length([14.09±2.23]vs[8.73±1.48]mm,P<0.05)and postopera-tive hospital stay([4.36±1.05]vs[2.00±0.90]d,P<0.05),and achieved remarkably lower VAS scores on postoperative days 1(4.41±1.05 vs 3.09±0.79,P<0.05),2(3.36±1.05 vs 2.78±1.13,P<0.05),3(2.65±0.72 vs 1.74±0.86,P<0.05)and 7(1.91±0.81 vs 1.04±0.82,P<0.05).At 3 and 7 days after surgery, scrotal edema was markedly mil-der in the MSS than in the TSS group(P<0.05).No testicular or epididymal damage,or wound infection occurred in either of the two groups. Conclusion:MSS is safe and effective in the treatment of testicular hydrocele, superior to TSS for its advantages of shorter operation time, smaller surgical incision, less postoperative pain and milder scrotal edema.

Male infertility has evolved from a common reproductive system disease to a major social issue. Youjing granule (YG) is a Chinese medicinal material used as a therapy method for tonifying the kidneys and removing dampness due to its pathogenic characteristics. YG has been shown to regulate sperm quality in clinical trials, but the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. The present study was aimed to explore the protective effects and mechanism of action of YG on male reproductive system damage caused by methyl methane sulfonate (MMS). We first established an infertility model of rats through oral administration of MMS and then treated with YG. To determine the effect of YG, spermatogenesis, microvascular density, and secretory function of Leydig cells and Sertoli cells in rats were assessed. Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) were co-cultured with mouse embryo fibroblast (MEF) cells as an in vitro cell model before exposure to serum containing YG. Furthermore, the proliferation and apoptosis of SSCs were measured. Results indicated that YG increased the expression of self-renewal and proliferation-related molecules such as glial cell line derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2), and improved the quality of sperm and the proliferation of SSCs. In conclusion, YG may protect spermatogenetic function of rats through regulating the proliferation and self-renewal of SSCs.

Objective: To analyze the willingness of receiving influenza vaccine and its influencing factors among health care workers (HCWs) in Yangtze River Delta region from 2020 to 2021. Methods: Convenient sampling method was adopted. From July 2020 to March 2021, 76 hospitals in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai provinces were selected according to the hospital level and job position, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on the willingness of receiving influenza vaccination. Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of vaccination intention. Results: A total of 1 332 HCWs were investigated, with a ratio of male to female about 1∶3.2, and the length of working years was (15.07±9.75) years. A total of 614 HCWs had received influenza vaccine in 2019, with a vaccination rate of 46.09%. About 63.21% (842/1 332) of HCWs were willing to be vaccinated with influenza vaccine. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that the willingness of receiving influenza vaccine among HCWs in primary hospitals was higher than that in secondary hospitals (OR=0.573) and tertiary hospitals (OR=0.357). The willingness of HCWs who had received influenza vaccine in 2019 was higher than that of HCWs who had not received influenza vaccine (OR=0.226) and had unknown history of influenza vaccination (OR=0.228). The willingness of HCWs in departments of prevention, health care and infection was higher than that in departments of pre-examination, outpatient, emergency, pediatrics and respiratory (OR=1.670). Conclusion: The willingness of receiving influenza vaccination among HCWs in Yangtze River Delta region is high, but it is still lower than that in developed countries. It is necessary to strengthen publicity and education to improve the influenza immunization level of HCWs.
