Objective To evaluate the ability of the ratio of peripheral blood white blood cell(WBC)counts to platelet counts to predict the onset of radiation-induced thymic lymphoma(TL)in a mouse model. Methods Mice were subjected to fractionated total-body irradiation(TBI)to established a TL model before the changes of the WBC-to-platelet ratio during the development and progression of TL were investigated.Four-week-old male C57BL/6J mice were randomized into the normal(non-irradiation)group and radiation exposure group that was subjected to 1.8 Gy TBI once weekly for four consecutive weeks. The survival and TL-incidence of those two groups were compared within 370 days of TBI.Histomorphology and hematoxylin & eosin(H&E)staining of the thymus were used for definite diagnosis of TL while flow cytometry was adopted to detect the frequency changes of T cells in the thymus, bone marrow and spleen.Peripheral blood(PB)cell counts were measured to analyze the changes of peripheral hemogram during TL pathogenesis. Results No mice in the normal group were diagnosed with TL while 83%of the irradiated mic suffered from TL within 370 days of fractionated TBI(P<0.0001).Using histopathologic technology,medium-sized tumor cells were observed in the thymus of irradiated mice diagnosed with TL.Cytometric analysis showed decreased frequencies of CD4 mono-positive cells and increased frequencies of CD8 mono-positive cells in the thymus, bone marrow and spleen of mice diagnosed with TL.PB analysis displayed a significant increase in the WBC-to-platelet ratio one week prior to the TL-caused death in the irradiated mice(P<0.01).Conclusion Elevation of the peripheral blood WBC-to-platelet ratio can help predict the onset of IR-induced TL of mice.

Objective:To investigate the status quo of spiritual nursing needs and its influencing factors of patients with permanent enterostomy, and analyze its correlation with disability acceptance and stigma, so as to provide a reference for the construction of targeted spiritual nursing intervention programs. Methods:A total of 351 patients with permanent enterostomy in Xiangya Hospital Central South University and Hunan Cancer Hospital were selected by convenience sampling from January 2021 to March 2022. A cross-section by using the self-made general information questionnaire, Nurse Spiritual Therapeutics Scale (NSTS), Acceptance of Disability Scale (ADS), and Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness (SSCI). And multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of spiritual nursing needs of patients with permanent enterostomy. Results:The total score of spiritual nursing needs of patients with permanent enterostomy was 30.15 ± 6.46, and the average score of items was 2.51 ± 0.78. Among the five dimensions, the highest average score was creating a good atmosphere 3.10 ± 0.98, and and the lowest was helping religious practice 1.65 ± 0.70. The total score of disability acceptance was 81.94 ± 13.86; the total score of stigma was 64.03 ± 14.28. The total scores of spiritual nursing needs were positively correlated with the total scores of disability acceptance ( r=0.703, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with the total scores of stigma ( r=-0.516, P<0.01). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that religious beliefs, educational level, residence, course of disease, disability acceptance, and stigma were the main influencing factors for the spiritual nursing needs of patients with permanent enterostomy ( t values were -13.26-13.56, all P<0.01), accounting for 52.5% of the total variation. Conclusions:The spiritual nursing needs of patients with permanent enterostomy were moderate. It is suggested that nurses can develop targeted spiritual nursing measures according to the individualized characteristics of patients, improve their disability acceptance and reduce their stigma level, so as to meet their spiritual nursing needs and realize their spiritual safety.

Objective:To understand the status quo of neonatal palliative care attitude of nurses in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and analyze the influencing factors, in order to provide reference and direction for hospital management to improve the neonatal palliative care attitude of NICU nurses. Methods:A total of 237 NICU nurses in 9 hospitals in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province were selected by cluster sampling method from November to December 2021, and the questionnaire was conducted using General Data Survey, Neonatal Palliative Care Attitude Scale (NiPCAS), the Jefferson Scale of Empathy (JSE) and Coping with Death Scale (CDS). And analyze the results. Results:The total score of the NICU nurses′ neonatal palliative care attitude was 89.35 ± 18.86. The average score of each dimension from high to low was belief, work experience, resources, organization, and obstacle; and the total score of neonatal palliative care attitude was positively correlated with empathy ability ( r=0.653, P<0.01) and death coping ability ( r=0.597, P<0.01), in addition the factor of barrier was negatively correlated with empathy and death coping ability ( r=-0.602, -0.526, both P<0.01) Multiple linear regression analysis showed that educational background, whether nursing dying infants, frequency of attending hospice nursing education in hospitals, empathy ability and death coping ability were the influencing factors of neonatal palliative care attitude, which could explain 47.3% of the total variation. Conclusions:NICU nurses′ neonatal palliative care attitude was generally at a moderate level, and affected by five factors such as education. It is suggested that hospital management should provide to improve empathy ability and death response ability as the premise of personalized, diversified education training support, multiple ways, multi-level improve its empathy ability and death coping ability, improve neonatal palliative care attitude, and then improve the quality of nursing service.

Objective:To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of spiritual care needs among elderly stroke inpatients, in order to provide reference for formulating targeted interventions. Methods:A total of 417 elderly stroke inpatients were selected in five Third-A hospitals from August 2021 to January 2022 by convenient sampling. The questionnaire was conducted using the General Data questionnaire, the Nurse Spiritual Therapeutics Scale (NSTS), the Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness (SSCI) and the Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS). Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of spiritual care needs of elderly stroke inpatients. Results:The total score of NSTS among 417 elderly stroke inpatients was 31.98 ± 4.39. The dimension of highest and lowest average score were "create good atmosphere" (3.23 ± 0.58) and "help religion" (2.01 ± 0.62), respectively; the results of regression analysis showed that religious belief, education background, course, stigma, and social support were the main factors influencing spiritual care needs among elderly stroke inpatients ( t values were -6.54-7.11, P<0.05). Conclusions:The spiritual care needs among elderly stroke inpatients were moderate. It is suggested that nurses should strengthen their own spiritual care knowledge and ability, and take targeted spiritual care measures according to the individual characteristics and differences of patients, reduce their stigma, improve the social support, to meet their spiritual care needs to the greatest extent.
