Cervical spondylosis is due to degenerative cervical disc and its stimulation or oppression of the adjacent nerves, spinal cord, spinal artery and other tissue caused by clinical symptoms. The cervical spine is an anatomical structure with activity, while the pillow has a certain plastic fixation effect on the cervical spine anatomy. Therefore, the pillow not only plays a health role in the cervical spine, but also plays an important role in restoring the normal physiological curvature of the cervical spine. Based on this, a multi-functional cervical vertebra treatment pillow is designed, which not only has the functions of traction, maintaining different positions of the cervical spine, correcting the cervical curvature and equipment exercises, but also has the functions of voice broadcast and network data terminal.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the intervention effects of (E)-4-[2-(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoyloxy]-3-me-thoxyphenyl acrylic acid (AZ) on fat accumulation in human hepatoma HepG2 cells. METHODS:Oleic acid was used to induce fat accumulation in HepG2 cells in logarithmic phase for establishing models of fat accumulation, which were divided into a model group,a positive control group(100 μg/ml simvastatin),and the groups of 15.63,31.25,62.5,125,250,500 and 1 000 μg/ml AZ,and a normal control group was set up. MTT method was used to detect the survival rates of all groups of cells, kit was per-formed to determine the contents of triglyceride (TG) in all groups of cells and calculate the clearance rates, and oil red O stain was conducted to observe the lipid droplet morphology of all groups of cells. RESULTS:Compared to the normal control group, the model group and the groups of 15.63-125 μg/ml AZ demonstrated no obviously different survival rate of cells, and the groups of 250-1 000 μg/ml AZ had lower survival rate of cells. There was statistically significance (P<0.05). The contents of TG in the cells of the model group were higher than those in the cells of the normal control group. The positive control group and the groups of 62.5 and 125 μg/ml AZ had lower contents of TG in the cells compared to the model group, showing a TG clearance rate of (28.58 ± 0.15)%,(14.51 ± 0.09)% and (29.72 ± 0.16)% respectively. There was statistically significance (P<0.01 or P<0.05). There were much more lipid droplets in the cells of the model group than in those of the normal control group. The lipid droplets in AZ groups gradually became less in quantity and smaller with the increasing in drug concentration. CONCLUSIONS:AZ has inter-vention effect on fat accumulation in HepG2 cells.

BACKGROUNDDue to racial differences in the morphology of the knee joint and due to most prostheses available in the market being designed using measurements from Caucasians, the objective of this study was to provide the morphometric data of the patella for the southern Chinese population for total knee arthroplasty (TKA), patellar resurfacing, and prostheses design.
METHODSThe CT slices of the knee joint were obtained from both knees of 40 Chinese volunteers (20 females, 20 males, and age from 20-25 years) by performing a computer tomographic scan. A 3D model was reconstructed by Mimics software based on the computed tomography images. Six metrical characteristics were measured by digital ruler. Statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS statistical program.
RESULTSThe mean, standard deviation and P values of measurements and ratios were calculated using SPSS. All dimensions showed a significant gender difference with P < 0.05, but the six variables of the left and right knees had no statistical significance with P > 0.05. In addition, we studied the relationship between six couples (H-W, H-T, H-HAF, W-T, W-HAF, T-HAF) of the four variables (H: height, W: width, T: thickness and HAF: height of articulating facet) that were measured, which showed a significant correlation.
CONCLUSIONSExamination of the southern Chinese population revealed that males have larger patellae than women. In both genders, comparing data between left and right knees shows no statistically significant difference. Compared with Westerners in previous studies, the patella in our study was thin and small. There was a good linear regression correlation between measurements of the patella. The indirect measurement method on 3D models makes it easy to obtain anatomical data, and the results can provide a region and gender specific database for morphometric measurements of the patella, and can be helpful for designing implants suited for southern Chinese patients.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2014;32(5):373-375
OBJECTIVETo investigate the preventive effects of garlic oil (GO) on benzene-induced hematotoxicity in mice.
METHODSSpecific pathogen-free male Kunming mice were randomly divided into 5 groups, i.e., control group, model group, and low-, middle-, and high-dose GO groups (n = 20 in each group). Mice in GO groups were orally given GO at 20, 40, or 80 mg/kg BW, while mice in the other two groups received an equal volume of corn oil. Two hours later, mice in model group and GO groups were orally given benzene (20%, v/v, dissolved in corn oil, 10 ml/kg BW) for 21 days consecutively. On the 22nd day, blood was collected from the orbital sinus, to determine the counts of red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), and platelets (PLT) and hemoglobin level using an automatic blood cell counter. The mice were sacrificed thereafter. The spleen was excised and weighed for calculation of the spleen index (spleen weight/body weight×100%).
RESULTSThe counts of WBC, RBC, and PLT and Hb level in the model group were reduced by 40%, 18%, 28%, and 23.6%, respectively, as compared with those in the control group (P < 0.01). Compared with those in the model group, WBC and PLT counts in the high-dose GO group increased by 95% and 66%, respectively (P < 0.01), wherein lymphocytes and monocytes increased by 142% and 100%, respectively (P < 0.01); the RBC count and Hb level in the low-dose GO group increased by 15% and 16%, respectively (P < 0.05). GO significantly suppressed benzene-induced decreases in spleen weight and spleen index.
CONCLUSIONGO is capable of suppressing benzene-induced hematotoxicity in mice. One possible mechanism may be promotion of hematopoiesis in the spleen.
