The Spt-Ada-Gcn5-acetyltransferase (SAGA) is an ancillary transcription initiation complex which is highly conserved. The ADA1 (alteration/deficiency in activation 1, also called histone H2A functional interactor 1, HFI1) is a subunit in the core module of the SAGA protein complex. ADA1 plays an important role in plant growth and development as well as stress resistance. In this paper, we performed genome-wide identification of banana ADA1 gene family members based on banana genomic data, and analyzed the basic physicochemical properties, evolutionary relationships, selection pressure, promoter cis-acting elements, and its expression profiles under biotic and abiotic stresses. The results showed that there were 10, 6, and 7 family members in Musa acuminata, Musa balbisiana and Musa itinerans. The members were all unstable and hydrophilic proteins, and only contained the conservative SAGA-Tad1 domain. Both MaADA1 and MbADA1 have interactive relationship with Sgf11 (SAGA-associated factor 11) of core module in SAGA. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that banana ADA1 gene family members could be divided into 3 classes. The evolution of ADA1 gene family members was mostly influenced by purifying selection. There were large differences among the gene structure of banana ADA1 gene family members. ADA1 gene family members contained plenty of hormonal elements. MaADA1-1 may play a prominent role in the resistance of banana to cold stress, while MaADA1 may respond to the Panama disease of banana. In conclusion, this study suggested ADA1 gene family members are highly conserved in banana, and may respond to biotic and abiotic stress.

Graphene family nanomaterials(GFNs)are highly popular in the field of bone tissue engineering because of their excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and ability to promote the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells.GFNs play a multifaceted role in promoting the bone regeneration microenvironment.First,GFNs activate the ad-hesion kinase/extracellularly regulated protein kinase(FAK/ERK)signaling pathway through their own micromorphology and promote the expression of osteogenesis-related genes.Second,GFNs adapt to the mechanical strength of bone tis-sue,which helps to maintain osseointegration;by adjusting the stiffness of the extracellular matrix, they transmit the me-chanical signals of the matrix to the intracellular space with the help of focal adhesions(FAs),thus creating a favorable physiochemical microenvironment. Moreover, they regulate the immune microenvironment at the site of bone defects, thus directing the polarization of macrophages to the M2 type and influencing the secretion of relevant cytokines.GFNs also act as slow-release carriers of bioactive molecules with both angiogenic and antibacterial abilities, thus accelerating the repair process of bone defects.Multiple types of GFNs regulate the bone regeneration microenvironment, including scaffold materials, hydrogels, biofilms, and implantable coatings.Although GFNs have attracted much attention in the field of bone tissue engineering, their application in bone tissue regeneration is still in the basic experimental stage. To promote the clinical application of GFNs,there is a need to provide more sufficient evidence of their biocompatibility, elucidate the mechanism by which they induce the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells, and develop more effective form of applications.

Colonoscopy is an important technical means for screening early colorectal cancer lesions.Accurate segmentation of intestinal polyps helps improve the accuracy of screening.Early screening for lesions is of great significance for the prevention of colorectal cancer, and the segmentation of intestinal polyps is an important research direction.Although intestinal polyp segmentation based on deep learning has achieved acceptable performance, the color variation among intestinal endoscopic images significantly affects it.Based on the ResNet architecture, this study proposes an advanced PE-ResNet in which histogram equalization is used to reduce color influence.Experimental results on five datasets, including ClinicDB,demonstrate that the PE-ResNet model achieves improved performance in intestinal polyp segmentation.

Objective:To assess the association of cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 ( CTLA-4) gene polymorphisms with the prognosis of patients with Bladder urothelial carcinoma (BUC). Methods:From February 2019 to October 2020, 256 BUS patients treated at the Xinxiang Central Hospital were selected as the study group, whilst 250 healthy individuals were selected as the control group. Genotypes of rs5742909 (-318C/T), rs231775 (+ 49A/G) and rs4553808 (-1661A/G) were determined by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay. The frequencies of genotypes and alleles of the CTLA-4 gene were compared between the two groups. All patients had undergone surgical treatment and were followed up for 3 years and divided into good prognosis group ( n=166) and poor prognosis group ( n=86) based on the status of disease. The distribution of alleles and genotypes were compared, and Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to assess the association of genetic polymorphisms with the prognosis. Results:No significant difference was found in the gender, age, BMI, smoking history and alcohol use between the two groups ( P>0.05). The frequencies of GG genotype and G allele for the rs231775 (+ 49A/G) and rs4553808 (-1661A/G) loci were significantly higher in the study group compared with the control group ( P<0.05), whilst no statistical difference was found in the genotypic and allelic frequency for the rs5742909 locus between the two groups ( P>0.05). Among the 252 subjects who had completed follow-up, 86 had poor prognosis and 166 had good prognosis. The frequencies of GG genotype and G allele at the rs231775 (+ 49A/G) and rs4553808 (-1661A/G) loci were significantly lower in the good prognosis group compared with the poor prognosis group ( P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis showed that the survival time of patients with GG genotype for the rs231775 (+ 49A/G) and rs4553808 (-1661A/G) loci was significantly shorter than patients with AA or AG genotypes (Log Rank 2 = 13.654, 9.974, P<0.001). Conclusion:The polymorphisms of the rs231775 and rs4553808 loci of the CTLA-4 gene are associated with genetic susceptibility and poor prognosis for BUC, and a higher GG genotypic frequency may increase the risk for infection and poor prognosis of the patients.

Glutamate receptor-like (GLR) is an important class of Ca2+ channel proteins, playing important roles in plant growth and development as well as in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. In this paper, we performed genome-wide identification of banana GLR gene family based on banana genomic data. Moreover, we analyzed the basic physicochemical properties, gene structure, conserved motifs, promoter cis-acting elements, evolutionary relationships, and used real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) to verify the expression patterns of some GLR family members under low temperature of 4 ℃ and different hormone treatments. The results showed that there were 19 MaGLR family members in Musa acuminata, 16 MbGLR family members in Musa balbisiana and 14 MiGLR family members in Musa itinerans. Most of the members were stable proteins and had signal peptides, all of them had 3-6 transmembrane structures. Prediction of subcellular localization indicated that all of them were localized on the plasma membrane and irregularly distributed on the chromosome. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that banana GLRs could be divided into 3 subclades. The results of promoter cis-acting elements and transcription factor binding site prediction showed that there were multiple hormone- and stress-related response elements and 18 TFBS in banana GLR. RT-qPCR analysis showed that MaGLR1.1 and MaGLR3.5 responded positively to low temperature stress and were significantly expressed in abscisic acid/methyl jasmonate treatments. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that GLR, a highly conserved family of ion channels, may play an important role in the growth and development process and stress resistance of banana.

The acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults have a higher rate of neurological injury and early death compared with atlas or axial fractures alone. Currently, the diagnosis and treatment choices of acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults are controversial because of the lack of standards for implementation. Non-operative treatments have a high incidence of bone nonunion and complications, while surgeries may easily lead to the injury of the vertebral artery, spinal cord and nerve root. At present, there are no evidence-based Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults. To provide orthopedic surgeons with the most up-to-date and effective information in treating acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults, the Spinal Trauma Group of Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association organized experts in the field of spinal trauma to develop the Evidence-based guideline for clinical diagnosis and treatment of acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults ( version 2023) by referring to the "Management of acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults" published by American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)/Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) in 2013 and the relevant Chinese and English literatures. Ten recommendations were made concerning the radiological diagnosis, stability judgment, treatment rules, treatment options and complications based on medical evidence, aiming to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of acute combination fractures of the atlas and axis in adults.

Annals of Dermatology 2021;33(6):531-540
Background:
The gut microbial dysbiosis and gender differences in the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris have long been postulated respectively. However, there was no data about a genderrelated discrepancy in gut microbiota and microbial metabolism in acne.
Objective:
This study aimed at identifying the underlying gender-related difference in gut microbiota and metabolism in acne vulgaris.
Methods:
Fecal samples were collected from 43 acne patients and 43 age and gender-matched controls. Gut microbiota was analyzed by sequencing the V3-V4 region of 16SrDNA gene and microbial metabolites were quantitatively detected using gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
Results:
Compared with healthy controls, the men had a lower abundance of 18 microbes such as Butyricicoccus, Clostridium sensu stricto, Faecalibaculum, Bacillus, Lactococcus, Blautia, Clostridiales, Lachnospiracea incertae sedis, Ruminococcus at genus level. However, the female patients only showed increased Clostridium sensu stricto and declined Oscillibacter and Odoribacterin. Additionally, the disordered metabolism of fatty acids was identified in male patients, while the dysbiosis of amino acids metabolism in female ones.
Conclusion
The disorder of gut microbiota and metabolism in acne vulgaris was genderspecific, which supported the potential role of gender difference in the pathogenesis of this disease.

To investigate the value of injecting a small amount of absolute ethanol into the benign solid nodules of the thyroid before radiofrequency ablation(RFA)to improve the efficiency of radiofrequency ablation. A total of 98 eligible patients(98 nodules)with pathologically confirmed benign solid nodules who were treated in our center from December 2016 to February 2018 were included and randomized into ethanol ablation(EA)combined with radiofrequency ablation(RFA)group(EA+RFA group)and RFA group, with 49 patients in each group.Routine ultrasound,contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS),and thyroid function test were performed before treatment and 1,3,6,and 12 months after treatment. The general information, treatment time, ablation energy, ablation power, postoperative nodule volume reduction ratio(VRR),symptom score(SS)and cosmetic score(CS),thyroid function level, and incidence of complications were compared between these two groups. The mean treatment time [(441.30±243.31)s (790.70±349.82)s;= 4.403, =0.000],mean ablation energy [(3.92±2.01)kJ (5.15±2.12)kJ;=2.709, =0.009],and mean ablation power [(6.07±1.44)W (7.30±1.29)W;=3.612, =0.006] were significantly lower in the EA+RFA group than in the RFA group. At 3,6 and 12 months after surgery, the VRR in the EA+RFA group was(57.73±11.07)%(=-3.16, <0.001),(64.40±10.56)%(=-5.45, <0.001),and(77.29±8.48)%(=-10.46, <0.001),respectively;the VRR in the RFA group was(55.44±13.01)%(=-1.76, <0.001),(65.28±11.33)%(=-5.09, <0.001),and(75.17±9.84)%(=-8.93, <0.001),which were significantly smaller than those before surgery. There was no significant difference in VRR between the EA+RFA group and the RFA group at 1(=3.41, =0.33),3(=2.05, =0.21),6(=2.77, =0.49),and 12 months(=5.05, =0.10)after treatment.During the follow-up,no recurrence of nodules was observed on CEUS.In the EA+RFA group, the SS [(1.77±0.86).(5.54±2.15);=9.63, <0.001] and the CS[(1.39±0.77).(3.32±0.61);=10.09, =0.004]at 12 months after surgery were significantly lower than those before surgery. In the RFA group,SS [(1.63±1.04).(5.90±1.79);=12.72, <0.001] and CS [(1.64±0.83).(3.15±0.72);=8.13, =0.012] at 12 months after surgery were also significantly lower than those before surgery. The CSS in the EA+RFA group was significantly lower than that in the RFA group [(0.93±0.55).(2.44±0.53);=-11.70, =0.007].Both groups had no significant change in thyroid function during the follow-up period, and no serious complications were observed. Anhydrous alcohol injection can effectively improve the efficiency of radiofrequency ablation in treating benign solid thyroid nodules and is effective in reducing nodule volume, alleviating compressive symptoms, and decreasing cosmetic discomfort.
