In recent years, China has been facing the dual challenges of declining fertility rates and births, with male reproductive health issues, especially the decline in semen quality, identified as a pivotal contributor to this phenomenon. Meanwhile, accumulating evidence indicates that air pollutants, an increasingly severe environmental problem, can damage semen quality not only directly through their biological toxicity but also indirectly by disrupting the composition of microbial communities in the gut and semen, thereby dysregulating immune function, endocrine homeostasis, and oxidative stress responses. The gut microbiota and semen microbiota, as important components of the human microecosystem, play crucial roles in maintaining reproductive health. This article comprehensively reviewed the research progress on the potential effects of air pollutants (particulate matter and gaseous pollutants), gut microbiota, and semen microbiota on semen quality. Specifically, it elucidated the mechanisms of interaction between these factors and explored how they affect male fertility.

IKBKG is the essential modulator for nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) signaling pathway, and mutations within this gene can lead to anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia and immunodeficiency (EDA-ID). Here we report a male patient, who presented with mild frontal bossing, sparse hair, skin pigmentation, conical teeth, and recurrent infections involving bacteria, fungi, and viruses after one month of age, together with hypogammaglobulinemia. These symptoms were consistent with the phenotype of EDA-ID. Genetic analysis revealed a hemizygous mutation c.1249T > G (p.Cys417Gly) in exon 10 of the

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;35(5):406-409
Objective:
To investigate the thyroid functions and influencing factors among radiation workers in Wuhan City, so as to provide insights into occupational health monitoring among radiation workers.
Methods :
Radiation workers receiving physical examinations in Wuhan Prevention and Treatment Center for Occupational Diseases from January to October 2022 were enrolled, and participants' gender, age, smoking, alcohol consumption, medical history, medication use, types of occupational radiation and work duration were collected. Triiodothyronine (TT3), thyroxine (TT4), free thyroxine (FT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) were measured using a magnetic microparticle-based chemiluminescence immunoassay. Personnel dose equivalent was monitored using thermoluminescent dosimetry, and annual cumulative radiation dose was estimated. Factors affecting thyroid function were identified using a multivariable linear regression model.
Results:
Totally 978 radiation workers were recruited, with a median age of 32.00 (interquartile range, 10.00) years, and including 782 men (79.96%) and 196 women (20.04%). There were 246 smokers (25.15%), 257 workers with alcohol consumption (26.28%) and 489 with a history of radiation work (50.00%). The median annual cumulative radiation dose was 0.20 (interquartile range, 0.24) mSv. The percentage of abnormal thyroid function was 14.72%. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that women (OR=1.925, 95%CI: 1.061-3.490), history of radiation work (OR=2.810, 95%CI: 1.119-7.057) and involving in medical application (OR=1.915, 95%CI: 1.101-3.332) were associated with abnormal thyroid function.
Conclusions
The percentage of abnormal thyroid function was 14.72% among radiation workers in Wuhan City. History of exposure to ionizing radiation, types of occupational radiation and gender were main factors affecting thyroid function.

The revised revision of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Medical Regulations passed in 2022 is an important institutional innovation in China, while many problems still need to be solved in the specific practice and application. This paper compared the practical development characteristics of the living will system between China and Japan, and analyzed the relationship between doctor-patients relationship under the intervention of the living will system and the symbolic representation mechanism of living will by using the semiotics theory. According to the links of "addresser-symbolic text" and "symbolic text-addressee", the six types of problems faced by current living will system in China were discussed, and the relevant experience and enlightenment were summarized to provided reference for the development of the living will system in China.

According to the data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2020, there are more than 60000 pilots and more than 100000 flight attendants in China working with certificates in various airlines. The health of these aircrew is the basis for maintaining and continuing the smooth development of civil aviation. Aircrew are exposed to cosmic radiation at high altitudes. However, because the types of cosmic radiation are complex, changeable, and difficult to measure accurately, there is no definite conclusion as to whether it has any effect on the health of aircrew. This paper introduced the impacts of cosmic radiation on aircrew, reviewed the estimation of cosmic radiation dose at home and abroad, and summarized the cosmic radiation dose measurement methods and their limitations. It also pointed out the shortcomings of existing occupational health management of aircrew and put forward new suggestions on strengthening the health management of radiation hazards for aircrew.

BACKGROUND:
It is a great challenge for surgeons to resect pulmonary nodules with small volume, deep position and no solid components under video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility and necessity of the localization of pulmonary nodules by injecting indocyanine green (ICG) under the guidance of magnetic navigation bronchoscope and the resection of small pulmonary nodules under the fluoroscope.
METHODS:
Between December 2018 and August 2019, sixteen consecutive patients with 30 peripheral lung lesions in our hospital received fluorescent thoracoscopic pulmonary nodule resection. Electromagnetic navigation bronchoscope (ENB) was performed before surgery to guide ICG to the target lesion.
RESULTS:
All patients underwent magnetic navigation-guided pulmonary nodule localization, and surgical resection was performed immediately after localization was completed. The average size of the nodules was (11.12±3.65) mm. The average navigation time was (12.06±2.74) minutes, and the average interval between dye labeling and lung resection was (25.00±5.29) minutes. All lesions were completely resected, the localization success rate was 100.00%, no bleeding and other complications occurred after the localization, the postoperative pathological results confirmed the accuracy of the staining.
CONCLUSIONS
Indocyanine green injection under the guidance of magnetic navigation bronchoscope is an effective way to locate pulmonary nodules, which can locate small and untouchable lesions in the lung. This method can help surgeons identify lesions more quickly and accurately. It is practical and worthy of promotion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of electromagnetic pulses (EMP) on the apoptosis and transforming growth factor beta 3 (TGF-β3) expression of mouse testis tissue.
METHODSThirty-two male BALB/c mice were randomly and equally divided into one control group and three EMP treated groups, which were whole-body exposed to EMP at 200 kV/m with 100, 200, and 400 pulses, respectively. The control group received no treatment. The pathological changes and cell apoptosis in testis tissue were analyzed by TUNEL assay. The mRNA expression of TGF-β3 in testis tissue was determined by RT-PCR, and the protein expression of TGF-β3 was determined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.
RESULTSNo obvious pathological changes were found in testis tissue after EMP exposure at 200 kV/m with 100 and 200 pulses. However, after EMP exposure with 400 pulses, degeneration and shedding of testis tissue, accompanied by significant increase in apoptosis rate (P < 0.05), was observed. The RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot showed that the expression of TGF-β3 mRNA and protein increased significantly after EMP exposure with 400 pulses as compared with that of the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONEMP exposure at 200 kV/m with 400 pulses increases the incidence of apoptosis and expression of TGF-β3 in mouse testis tissue, which is potentially one of the mechanisms by which EMP increases blood-testis barrier permeability in mice.
