		                        			Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) can lead to lower back pain and may be even accompanied by scoliosis, neurological dysfunction and other complications, which will affect the daily activities and life quality of patients. Vertebral augmentation is an effective treatment method for OVCF, but it cannot correct unbalance of bone metabolism or improve the osteoporotic status, causing complications like lower back pain, limited spinal activities and vertebral refracture. The post-operative systematic and standardized rehabilitation treatments can improve curative effect and therapeutic efficacy of anti-osteoporosis, reduce risk of vertebral refracture, increase patient compliance and improve quality of life. Since there still lack relevant clinical treatment guidelines for postoperative rehabilitation treatments following vertebral augmentation for OVCF, the current treatments are varied with uneven therapeutic effect. In order to standardize the postoperative rehabilitation treatment, the Spine Trauma Group of the Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association organized relevant experts to refer to relevant literature and develop the "Guideline for postoperative rehabilitation treatment following vertebral augmentation for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (2022 version)" based on the clinical guidelines published by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as on the principles of scientificity, practicality and advancement. 2.Thirty years' changes of the strategy of lateral lymph node dissection in low rectal cancer: treatment experience and prognostic analysis of 289 cases in one single center.

		                        			Objective: The surgical indications, resection extent and management principle of lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) in lower rectal cancer have been controversial between Eastern and Western countries. This study aims to provide a theoretical basis for the rational implementation of LLND by reviewing the changes of LLND strategy over the past 30 years in a single-center, and analyzing prognostic factors for the survival outcomes of patients with lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM). Methods: A retrospective observational study was performed. Clinical data of 289 patients with rectal cancer who received LLND at the Department of General Surgery of Peking University First Hospital from 1990 to 2019 were collected. Patients were divided into three groups based on decades. There were 89 cases in 1990-1999 group, 92 cases in the 2000-2009 group, and 108 cases in the 2010-2019 group. Data analyzed: (1) patient baseline data; (2) surgery and postoperative recovery; (3) lateral lymph node dissection; (4) postoperative survival and prognosis of patients with positive lateral lymph nodes. The surgical methods and pathological results of LLND were compared between groups, and the prognostic risk factors of patients with LLNM were analyzed. Results: A total of 289 patients underwent radical resection with LLND' accounting for 6.3% of the 4542 patients with rectal cancer during the same period in our hospital. Except decade-by-decade increase in tumors with distance from anal verge ≤ 7 cm, the proportion of ulcerated tumors, and the proportion of neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy, the differences in other baseline data were not statistically significant among 3 decade groups (all P>0.05). The proportion of LLND in the 3 groups decreased decade by decade [9.9% (89/898) vs. 8.0% (92/1154) vs. 4.3% (108/2490), χ(2)=40.159, P<0.001]. The proportion of laparoscopic surgery and unilateral LLND increased, while the mean operative time, intraoperative blood loss, surgical complications above grade III and postoperative hospital stay decreased decade by decade. These 289 patients completed a total of 483 lateral dissections, including 95 cases of the unilateral dissection and 194 cases of the bilateral dissection. The proportion of LLND in the 3 groups decreased decade by decade [9.9% (89/898) vs. 8.0% (92/1154) vs. 4.3% (108/2510), P<0.001]. The median number of dissected lymph nodes in the internal iliac artery and obturator regions increased (2 vs. 3 vs. 3, P<0.001), but those in the common iliac and external iliac regions decreased significantly (4 vs. 3 vs. 2, P=0.014). A total of 71 patients with LLNM were identified. The rate of LLNM in the 2010-2019 group was significantly higher than that in the previous two groups [37.0% (40/108) vs. 16.9% (15/89) vs. 17.4% (16/92), P=0.001]. The patients with LLNM showed a poorer overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) compared with negative lateral lymph nodes (P<0.001). There were statistically significant differences in 5-year OS rate (30.9% vs. 27.2% vs. 0, P=0.028) and 5-year DFS rate (28.3% vs. 16.0% vs. 0, P=0.038) among patients with only internal iliac lymph node metastasis, patients with only obturator lymph node metastasis, and patients with external iliac or common iliac lymph node metastasis. Multivariate analysis of prognostic factors showed that external iliac or common iliac lymph node metastasis was an independent risk factor for OS (HR=1.649, 95%CI: 1.087-2.501) and DFS (HR=1.714, 95%CI: 1.173-2.504) in patients with LLNM (all P<0.05) . The OS and DFS were not significant different in patients with LLNM among 3 decade groups. Conclusions: In the past decade, the proportion of LLND in rectal cancer has decreased significantly. However, LLNM rate has been significantly increased due to preoperative imaging assessments focusing on suspicious LLNM without compromising the survival. Internal iliac artery and obturator lymph nodes can be regarded as regional lymph nodes with a satisfactory prognosis after LLND. For suspected external iliac or common iliac lymph node metastasis, the significance of LLND remains to be further evaluated.

3.Clinical analysis of 554 patients with colorectal diverticulosis.

		                        			Objective: Most patients with asymptomatic colorectal diverticulosis are easily overlooked. However, some of diverticulosis become diverticulitis, bleeding and even perforation, which cause extensive harm to patients. The purpose of this study is to analyze the incidence, clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal diverticulosis in order to improve the clinical understanding of diverticulosis and its related complications. Methods: A descriptive cohort study was carried out. Clinical data of 554 patients with colorectal diverticulosis confirmed by CT, colonoscopy, digestive tract radiography or operation in Peking University First Hospital from January 2009 to June 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients with malignant tumors, autoimmune diseases, long term use of immunosuppressive drugs, chronic liver diseases and renal diseases, and mental disorders were excluded. The analysis parameters included gender, onset age, clinical symptoms, location of diverticulitis, treatment and prognosis. According to the criteria established by the World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES), acute diverticulitis was divided into 5 stages based on the extension of the infectious process. Stage 0 was simple diverticulitis and stage 1-4 was complicated diverticulitis. Results: Among the 554 patients with colorectal diverticulosis, 358 (64.6%) were males, the median onset age was 63 years; 191 patients (34.5%) had various digestive symptoms, of whom 113 (20.4%) had chronic constipation and abdominal distension, 78 (14.1%) had chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain; the other 363 patients had no obvious abdominal symptoms. Four hundred and six patients were found by colonoscopy and 465 patients were found by CT. Twenty-five patients were diagnosed by lower gastrointestinal tract radiography and 3 were confirmed during operation. There were 339 patients with multiple diverticula (61.2%) and 215 patients with single diverticulum (38.8%). 76.5% (424/554) of diverticula were located in colon, 37.0% (205/554) in ascending colon, 21.3% (118/554) in multiple sites, and 2.2% (12/554) in rectum. The median diameter of diverticulum was 7 mm, and 78 cases (14.1%) was ≥30 mm. Forty-nine patients (8.8%) developed acute diverticulitis, including 13 patients with simple diverticulitis and 36 patients with complicated diverticulitis. Among 36 patients with complicated diverticulitis, 29 (80.6%) were males, 27 (75.0%) had recurrent abdominal pain and fever before onset; diverticula of 25 cases were located in sigmoid colon; 11 cases in ascending colon. Nine cases developed sigmoid colon perforation and 8 cases developed vesicocolonic fistula, and these 17 patients underwent surgical treatment. The other 19 cases with complicated diverticulitis developed gastrointestinal bleeding, of whom 18 cases were male, 11 cases were located in ascending colon; 13 cases were healed after conservative treatment, 4 cases received endoscopic hemostatic intervention, and 2 cases underwent surgery. Conclusions: Colorectal diverticulosis is more common in male patients, and CT and colonoscopy are main diagnostic methods. The symptoms of complicated colonic diverticulitis are related to the location of diverticulum. 4.Establishment of a penile transplantation model in beagle dogs.

		                        			Objective:
		                        			To investigate the feasibility of establishing a model of allograft penile transplantation in adult beagle dogs and explore the conditions for constructing a stable animal model of penis transplant.
		                        		
		                        			METHODS:
		                        			Following the principles of similarity, repeatability, feasibility, applicability, and controllability in the construction of experimental animal models, we compared the major anatomic features of the penis of 20 adult beagle dogs with those of 10 adult men. Using microsurgical techniques, we performed cross-transplantation of the penis in the 20 (10 pairs) beagle dogs and observed the survival rate of the transplanted penises by FK506+MMF+MP immune induction. We compared the relevant indexes with those of the 10 cases of microsurgical replantation of the amputated penis.
		                        		
		                        			RESULTS:
		                        			High similarities but no statistically significant differences were observed in penile anatomic features between the 20 beagle dogs and 10 men. All the 10 cases of cross-transplantation of the penis were successfully completed in the 20 beagle dogs, of which the transplanted glans survived with normal micturition in 12 but developed necrosis in the other 8; the success rate of one-time venous anastomosis was 95.0% (38/40) and that of one-time arterial anastomosis was 87.5% (35/40), with an average vascular anastomosis time of (71.0±9.0) minutes, a mean operation time of (133.0±10.3) minutes, and a mean blood loss of (135.8±41.4) ml. In the 10 cases of penile replantation, the success rate of one-time venous anastomosis was 100% (20/20) and that of one-time arterial anastomosis was 90.0% (18/20), with an average vascular anastomosis time of (65.0±7.9) minutes, a mean operation time of (117.4±10.0) minutes, and a mean blood loss of (85.0±10.8) ml. In the 12 cases of replantation of the amputated penis, the success rate of one-time venous anastomosis was 100% (24/24) and that of one-time arterial anastomosis was 95.8% (23/24), with an average vascular anastomosis time of (79.0±17.6) minutes, a mean operation time of (125.0±20.6) minutes, and a mean blood loss of (140.0±44.3) ml. No statistically significant differences were found in the relevant indexes among the three groups.
		                        		
		                        			CONCLUSIONS
		                        			The anatomic structure of the corpus cavernosum penis of beagle dogs is highly similar to that of men, almost the same in cross-section anatomy. Microsurgical replantation and allograft transplantation of the penis were both successfully performed in beagle dogs, which showed similar operative indexes to those of human penile replantation. The construction of the allograft penile transplantation model in adult beagle dogs is feasible clinically, with the advantages of operability and repeatability.

5.BM-MSCs from Wuzhishan mini-pigs delay the progress of renal fibrosis induced by chronic kidney disease through autocrine hepatocyte growth factor in vitro.

		                        			To isolate bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) and establish the model of chronic kidney disease (CKD) of Wuzhishan (WZS) mini-pig, and to study the repairment effect of BM-MSCs on CKD-induced renal fibrosis in vitro.
 Methods: Density gradient method was used to isolate and culture BM-MSCs. The cells were verified by morphology, phenotype, differentiation and so on. The left partial ureteral obstruction (LPUUO) was used to establish the CKD model, which was evaluated by B-ultrasound, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), HE and Masson staining. The cells were divided into 3 groups, the tissue plus BM-MSCs group, the tissue group, and the BM-MSCs group, respectively. Seven days later, the supernatants were collected to observe the changes of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) cumulative release. HE and Masson staining was used to observe the changes of renal tissue.
 Results: The isolated BM-MSCs possessed the features as follow: fibroblast-like adherent growth; positive in CD29 and CD90 expression while negative in CD45 expression; osteogenic induction and alizarin red staining were positive; alcian blue staining were positive after chondrogenic induction. Twelve weeks after the operation of LPUUO, B-ultrasound showed the thin renal cortical with pelvis effusion; SPETCT showed the left kidney delayed filling and renal impairment. The accumulation of HGF in the tissue plus BM-MSCs group was significantly higher than that in the tissue alone group at the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th day, respectively (P<0.05). HE staining showed the different degree of renal lesions between the tissue plus BM-MSCs+CKD group and the tissue alone group, which was aggravated with the time going. Masson staining showed that the cumulative optical density of blue-stained collagen fibers in tissue plus BM-MSCs group was significantly lower than that in the tissue group at the 5th to 7th day (P<0.05).
 Conclusion: BM-MSCs from WZS mini-pig can inhibit or delay the progress of CKD-induced renal fibrosis through autocrine HGF in vitro.

6. Toxicity of 1,2-dichloroethane and its metabolites on human astrocytes

		                        			 OBJECTIVE: To explore the toxicity of 1,2-dichloroethane( 1,2-DCE) and its metabolites on human astrocytes( HAs). METHODS: Different doses of 1,2-DCE( 5. 00,10. 00,25. 00,50. 00 and 100. 00 mmol/L),2-chlorohydrins( 5. 00,25. 00,50. 00,100. 00 and 200. 00 mmol/L),2-chloroacetaldehyde( 1. 00,5. 00,10. 00,20. 00 and 50. 00 mmol / L) and chloroacetic acid( 0. 01,0. 05,0. 10,0. 50 and 1. 00 mmol / L) were used for treating HAs in vitro during their logarithmic phase. After 24 hours of culture,the morphology of HAs was observed by fluorescent inverted phase contrast microscope. The survival rate and the inhibition ratio of HAs were detected by CCK-8 colorimetry to estimate the50% inhibiting concentration in 24 hours( 24 h-IC50). The apoptosis of HAs was tested by double-labeling and flow cytometry using Annexin Ⅴ-fluorescein isothiocyanate and propidium iodide. RESULTS: The morphology of HAs changed in varying degrees after 24 hours exposure to 1,2-DCE,2-chlorohydrins,2-chloroacetaldehyde and chloroacetic acid. The changes included smaller size of cells,pseudopodia tapering,increased intracellular particles and suspension of circular cells and decreased transparency of cells. With the increasing does of 1,2-DCE,2-chlorohydrins,2-chloroacetaldehyde and chloroacetic acid exposure,the survival rates of HAs decreased( P < 0. 01),while its inhibition ratios increased( P <0. 01). They all showed dose-effect relationship. 24 h-IC50 of the above 4 chemicals were 56. 25,235. 00,26. 43 and1. 38 mmol / L,respectively. The 1,2-DCE,2-chlorohydrins and chloroacetic acid could induce the apoptosis of HAs and the apoptosis rate of HAs was positively correlated with the 3 kinds of chemicals( P < 0. 01). CONCLUSION: 1,2-DCE and its metabolites 2-chloroacetaldehyde,2-chlorohydrins and chloroacetic acid can lead to toxic damage and induce the apoptosis of HAs. 7.Progress in the treatment of penile defect.

		                        			As the important external genitalia of males, penis has the functions of both urination and copulation. Battle wound, other trauma, and some diseases such as penile cancer can result in total and partial penile defect, which has great impact on the sufferers' mind and life. Therefore, the treatment of penile defect is receiving more and more importance from both the patients and doctors. The ideal treatment is expected to achieve a satisfactory appearance, unobstructed standing urination and successful copulation. Nowadays, the main clinical techniques for the treatment of penile defect include penile replantation, penile lengthening, and penile reconstruction. The progress made in transplantation immunity, tissue matching, immunosuppressive agents, and long-term surviving of animal allograft limb transplantation has prepared a firm ground for human penile allograft. The construction of penile tissues by tissue engineering techniques is still at the experimental stage. 8.Influence of multiple sintering on wear behavior of Cercon veneering ceramic.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of multiple sintering on wear behavior of Cercon veneering ceramic.
METHODSSamples were fabricated according to the manufacture's requirement for different sintering times (1, 3, 5, 7 times). The wear test was operated with a modified MM-200 friction and wear machine in vitro. The wear scars were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
RESULTSWith the sintering times increasing, the wear scar width became larger. The correlation was significant at the 0.01 level. Significant difference was observed in wear scar width among different samples (P < 0.05). SEM and AFM results showed that veneering ceramic wear facets demonstrated grooves characteristic of abrasive wear.
CONCLUSIONMultiple sintering can decrease the wear ability of Cercon veneer, and the wear pattern has the tendency to severe wear.

OBJECTIVEAfter sinboneHT bone replacement (SBR) was implanted in animals, to evaluate the biocompatibility of SBR and compounded in autogenetic bone in the proportion of one to one in order to prepare for the clinical applications in the future.
METHODSBone defects of 10 mm x l0 mm x 2 mm was made at the mandibular of rabbits, then SBR with different granule diameter and autogenetic bone was compounded in the proportion of being applied in the left defects, while autogenetic bone was implanted in the right defects and nothing was used in the right reformed defects. Animals were sacrificed at 2, 4 and 8 weeks respectively. The biologic capacity was evaluated with anatomy, X-rays studies and histology.
RESULTSSBR has better biocompatibility, which can effectively accelerate the reconstruction of bone defects and help the new bone by being compounded with autogenetic bone. It provides the appropriate scaffold or template which would allow cellular infiltration, attachment and multiplication.
CONCLUSIONSBR is a kind of bone substitute material with good biocompatibility. SBR compounded with self-bone has a better regeneration function.

10.Effect of different dynamic mechanical strain on the proliferation and synthetic function of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo study the changes in the proliferation and synthetic function of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPDLF) in response to dynamic mechanical strains of different modes, magnitudes and durations.
METHODSUsing a 4-point bending system, the effect of dynamic mechanical strains of different modes, magnitudes and durations on the proliferation of HPDLF was investigated by analyzing the cell cycle changes with flow cytometry (FCM), and the total protein level and the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in HPDLF were assayed by quantitative analysis.
RESULTSThe percentage of G(0)/G(1) cell decreased, S phase cells increased, and the proliferation index (PI), total protein level and activity of ALP were augmented significantly in response to dynamic mechanical micro-strains. These changes showed close correlations to the magnitude and duration of the strain. The mode of strain caused significant changes in G(0)/G(1), S, and G(2)/M phase cell percentages as well as the PI, total protein level and ALP activity of the cells. In the gradient strain group, the cell proliferation activity, total protein level and ALP activity were obviously higher than those in 1000 and 4000 microstrain groups.
CONCLUSIONThe changes in the proliferation and synthetic function of HPDLF are closely correlated to the mode, magnitude and duration of the strains.
