1.Meta analysis of maternal overweight/obesity during pregnancy and offspring metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease

Objective:
To evaluates the association between maternal overweight/obesity during pregnancy and offspring risk of metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), providing theoretical evidence for early life MASLD prevention.
Methods:
An online search was conducted across ten databases (CNKI, Wanfang, SinoMed, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PROSPERO, PQDT Global, ScienceDirect) for research literature on the association between maternal overweight/obesity during pregnancy and the development of MASLD in offspring, with the search period spanning from January 2014 to December 2024. Two researchers independently screened literature, extracted data, and assessed study quality. Statistical analysis was performed using R 4.3.3.
Results:
Ten studies involving 10 229 participants were included, comprising 4 cohort studies and 6 case control studies. Cohort studies showed that maternal overweight and obesity significantly increased offspring MASLD risk ( RR=1.59, 95%CI=1.06-2.39, P <0.05), with moderate heterogeneity ( I 2=56.9%, P =0.07). Case control studies indicated a positive association between maternal overweight/obesity during pregnancy and offspring risk of MASLD( OR=2.00, 95%CI=1.68-2.39, P < 0.05), with low heterogeneity ( I 2=48.8%, P =0.08).
Conclusions
Maternal overweight/obesity during pregnancy positively correlates with offspring MASLD risk. Gestational weight management may reduce the risk.
2.Associations between caregivers nutrition literacy and pediatric nonalcoholic fatty liver disease of children aged 8-10

Objective:
To explore the associations between caregivers nutrition literacy and pediatric nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), so as to provide scientific evidence for the key contents of family intervention measures.
Methods:
In September 2022, a study involving 1 609 thirdgrade students and their caregivers from six schools in Yinzhou, Haishu, and Zhenhai Districts of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, was conducted. Venous blood samples were collected to measure lipid profiles and investigate the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among the children. Family Food Environment Questionnaire was used to assess the nutrition literacy levels of the caregivers. Generalized linear regression analysis was employed to explore the correlation between caregivers nutrition literacy levels and the prevalence of NAFLD in children.
Results:
Among the surveyed students, 191 were in the NAFLD group, whereas 1 418 were in the nonNAFLD group. The median nutrition literacy score of caregivers in the NAFLD group and nonNAFLD group all were 11.00 (9.00,12.00), which was not significantly different (Z=-0.40, P=0.71). The generalized linear regression results revealed that the level of nutrition literacy of caregivers had no significant effect on childrens Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and Triglyceride-glucose-Waisttoheight ratio (TyG-WHtR) [β(95%CI) were 0.001(-0.005-0.006) and 0.000(-0.014-0.014), P>0.05].
Conclusions
The nutrition literacy level of caregivers has no significant correlation with the direct incidence of NAFLD in children. As for family intervention measures, it is necessary not only to improve the nutrition literacy level of caregivers but also to effectively apply nutritional knowledge in practice to optimize health management.
3.Research hotspots and prospects of integrating traditional Chinese medicine culture into ideological and political education from 2013 to 2022

By analyzing information such as the number of publications,authors,institutions and keywords in the literature on the integration of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)culture into ideological and political education in the past 10 years,it was found that the overall number of publications showed an increasing trend. As the main research fronts,TCM colleges and universities had not yet formed teams in cooperation with other universities. The research hotspots were relatively concentrated,but the research horizons were not broad enough. It is suggested that in the future,policy should be taken as the guide to build a cross-regional interdisciplinary cooperation system,horizontally and vertically extend research subjects,innovate and construct diversified teaching models,continue to deeply explore and organically integrate ideological and political education elements,continuously improve the evaluation system of educational functions,and further enhance the timeliness of integrating traditional Chinese medicine culture into ideological and political education. So as to make greater contributions to cultivating talents in the new era and promoting the inheritance and innovation of TCM culture.
4.Efficacy and Safety of Spleen-strengthening Therapy in Treatment of Postoperative Colorectal Adenoma: A Meta-analysis

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of spleen-strengthening therapy in the treatment of postoperative colorectal adenoma. MethodRandomized controlled trials (RCTs) of spleen-strengthening therapy for postoperative colorectal adenoma published in the databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, and Clinical Trials registry center from database inception to February, 2024 were retrieved and selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The included RCTs were subjected to Meta-analysis using RevMan 5.3 software. ResultA total of 29 articles were included, involving 2 935 patients, with 1 462 in the experimental group and 1,473 in the control group. The Meta-analysis results showed that compared with conventional Western medical treatment alone, the experimental group that combined the spleen-strengthening therapy with conventional Western treatment had a significantly lower recurrence rate at six months post-surgery [relative risk (RR)=0.45, 95% confidence interval (CI) [0.37, 0.53], P<0.000 01], and at one year post-surgery (RR=0.54, 95%CI [0.47, 0.63], P<0.000 01). Additionally, the experimental group showed significant improvement in clinical symptoms (RR=1.28,95%CI [1.17,1.40], P<0.000 01) and more pronounced effects in suppressing inflammatory factors, with no serious adverse reactions observed. The differences were all statistically significant. The analysis of the Chinese medicines used in the included articles revealed 28 prescriptions with 99 different drugs used 369 times in total. The most frequently used drug was Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, followed by Codonopsis Radix, Poria, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium. Furthermore, correlation analysis showed that spleen-strengthening drugs were often used in combination with heat-clearing and toxin-removing drugs, qi-regulating drugs, and blood-activating drugs such as Hedyotidis Diffusae Herba, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, and Curcumae Rhizoma. ConclusionThe spleen-strengthening therapy demonstrates good clinical efficacy and high safety for patients with postoperative colorectal adenoma. However, due to the limitations in the quantity and quality of the included RCTs, more high-quality clinical trials are needed to verify these conclusions.
5.Multi-parameter spectral CT for differentiating grade G2-3 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma

Objective To explore the value of multi-parameter spectral CT for differentiating grade G2-3 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(pNET)and pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma(pNEC).Methods Preoperative double-layer detector spectral CT(DLCT)data of 35 patients with pNET(pNET group,including 25 cases of G2 grade and 10 cases of G3 grade)and 17 patients with pNEC(pNEC group)were retrospectively analyzed.Conventional CT and spectral CT parameters were compared between groups,and those being significant different between groups according to univariate analysis were respectively incorporated into multivariate logistic regression to select the independent predictors for identifying grade G2-3 pNET and pNEC.Conventional CT model and spectral CT model were constructed,and the combined model was constructed based on the two.The efficacy of each model for distinguishing grade G2-3 pNET and pNEC was evaluated.Results CT values of lesions during venous phase(OR=0.939,P=0.025)and vascular invasion(OR=5.049,P=0.027)shown on conventional CT were both independent predictors,and conventional CT model was constructed,its area under the curve(AUC)for distinguishing grade G2-3 pNET and pNEC was 0.808.Normalized iodine concentration during venous phase(OR=0.603)and normalized effective atomic number during venous phase(OR=0.847)on spectral CT were both independent predictors(both P<0.05),and spectral CT model was constructed.The AUC of spectral CT model was 0.894,higher than that of conventional CT model(Z=2.127,P=0.033).The AUC of combined model was 0.924,higher than that of conventional CT model(Z=2.302,P=0.021)but not significantly different with that of spectral CT model(Z=0.827,P=0.408).Conclusion Multi-parameter spectral CT could effectively differentiate grade G2-G3 grade pNET and pNEC.
6.Monoamine oxidase A:new tumor immunity target of neural origin

Monoamine oxidase A(MAOA)is a membrane-bound mitochondrial enzyme that exists in almost all vertebrate tissues,where it catalyzes the degradation of biogenic and dietary-derived monoamines.MAOA has the function of regulating neurotransmitter metabolism and is associated with anti-tumor immune responses.Most previous studies have focused on the role of MAOA in tumor cells,while more recent findings suggest that MAOA plays an equally significant role in tumor-associated immune cells.In this review,we summarize the regulatory effect of MAOA on the inhibitory tumor microenvironment.The suppressing function of MAOA on various types of tumor-associated immune cells(e.g.,CD8+T cells and tumor-associated macrophages)by its direct effect on monoamines and their metabolic characteristics are discussed.We propose that developing novel MAOA-inhibitor drugs and exploring multidrug-combination strategies may enhance the efficacy of immune therapy for tumors.In conclusion,MAOA may act as a novel target in tumor immunity and influence the effect of tumor immunotherapy.
7.Clinical characteristics and prognostic analysis of patients infected with Parvovirus B19

Objective:Investigate the characteristics of hospitalized patients infected with parvovirus B19 (B19V) and the potential impact of B19V on disease progression and clinical outcomes in patients.Methods:The subjects of this observational retrospective study were 62 hospitalized patients who tested positive for B19V among 3 129 inpatients who visited Peking University People′s Hospital between April 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023, and underwent metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) for pathogens. Patient data regarding pathogen detection, clinical characteristics, and outcomes were collected, along with other laboratory test results, to assess hospitalization duration, incidence of mixed infections during hospitalization, and clinical outcomes within 30 days. The chi-square test was utilized to analyze differences in patient mortality rates and other relevant factors.Results:B19V infection waspobserved in patients with hematological disorders and solid organ transplant recipients (79.03%, 49/62). Additionally, B19V frequently coexists with other pathogens (40/62), with the highest rates of mixed infections involving human herpesvirus 6, cytomegalovirus, and Epstein-Barr virus, having 20, 9, and 8 cases respectively. The most common site of B19V detection is peripheral blood (χ 2=0.000 3, P<0.001), although it can also be detected in other bodily fluid samples. The 30 day mortality rate among B19V infected patients was 19.35% (12/62) 10 out of 12 deceased patients had concurrent mixed infections with other pathogens. Moreover, patients with mixed B19V infections exhibited a higher mortality rate compared to those with B19V infection alone (χ 2=4.546, P=0.033). Comparative analysis of 24 patients who underwent multiple mNGS tests revealed that patients with chronic B19V infection (12 cases) had a higher mortality rate compared to those with transient B19V infection (12 cases) (χ 2=12, P<0.001). Conclusions:Parvovirus B19 (B19V) infection is more commonly observed in patients with hematological disorders and solid organ transplant recipients, often coexisting with other pathogens. The mortality rate within 30 days of B19V infection is elevated, particularly when accompanied by concurrent mixed infections with other pathogens. Moreover, patients with chronic and persistent B19V infection face an increased risk of mortality.
8.Coincidence rate of adjustable and non adjustable desks and chairs in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai

Objective:
To understand the coincidence rate of adjustable and non adjustable desks and chairs in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai, so as to provide a reference for the effective management of desks and chairs in schools.
Methods:
Stratified random cluster sampling was applied to measure 1 091 sets of desks and chairs in 33 classrooms of 7 primary and secondary schools in 4 districts of Shanghai including Huangpu, Hongkou, Yangpu and Jiading districts. The height examination data of seated students in the same semester were also collected to evaluate the matching type of functional size of desks and chairs and students height according to Functional Sizes and Technical Requirements of Chairs and Tables for Educational Institutions.
Results:
The matching coincidence rate of desk and chair distribution in primary and secondary schools was 22.5%, and the matching coincidence rates of primary, middle and high schools were 11.7%, 27.1% and 40.9% respectively ( χ 2=83.23, P <0.01); the matching coincidence rate of adjustable desks and chairs (28.2%) was significantly higher than that of fixed (18.2%) ( χ 2=14.49, P <0.01). The type of distribution of desks and chairs that do not correspond to national standards, from elementary school to high school, showing a trend of high desks with high chairs, low desks with high chairs to high desks with low chairs.
Conclusion
The coincidence rate of desk and chair distribution in primary and secondary schools is low, and the adjustable desks and chairs has improved the problems to a certain extent, but has not significantly improved the coincidence rate. It is necessary to further explore the effective management mode in the use of adjustable desks and chairs and improve the current situation of the use of desks and chairs in schools.
9.Gallic Acid Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment Caused by Sleep Deprivation through Antioxidant Effect

Sleep deprivation (SD) has a profound impact on the central nervous system, resulting in an array of mood disorders, including depression and anxiety. Despite this, the dynamic alterations in neuronal activity during sleep deprivation have not been extensively investigated. While some researchers propose that sleep deprivation diminishes neuronal activity, thereby leading to depression. Others argue that short-term sleep deprivation enhances neuronal activity and dendritic spine density, potentially yielding antidepressant effects. In this study, a two-photon microscope was utilized to examine the calcium transients of anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) neurons in awake SD mice in vivo at 24-hour intervals. It was observed that SD reduced the frequency and amplitude of Ca2+ transients while increasing the proportions of inactive neurons. Following the cessation of sleep deprivation, neuronal calcium transients demonstrated a gradual recovery. Moreover, whole-cell patch-clamp recordings revealed a significant decrease in the frequency of spontaneous excitatory post-synaptic current (sEPSC) after SD. The investigation also assessed several oxidative stress parameters, finding that sleep deprivation substantially elevated the level of malondialdehyde (MDA), while simultaneously decreasing the expression of Nuclear Factor erythroid 2-Related Factor 2 (Nrf2) and activities of Superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the ACC. Importantly, the administration of gallic acid (GA) notably mitigated the decline of calcium transients in ACC neurons. GA was also shown to alleviate oxidative stress in the brain and improve cognitive impairment caused by sleep deprivation. These findings indicate that the calcium transients of ACC neurons experience a continuous decline during sleep deprivation, a process that is reversible. GA may serve as a potential candidate agent for the prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment induced by sleep deprivation.
10.PTPRN mediates endocytosis of NaV1.2 sodium chan-nels and suppresses epileptogenesis in mice

Epilepsy is a disorder of the brain charac-terized by abnormal neuron excitability.However,the underlying molecular mechanism of neuron excitability modulation remains elusive.With the help of bioinformatic methods,we have identified receptor-type tyrosine-pro-tein phosphatase-like N(PTPRN)as a critical gene dur-ing epileptogenesis.PTPRN recruits NEDD4L ubiquitin E3 ligase to NaV1.2 sodium channels,facilitating NEDD4L-mediated ubiquitination and endocytosis.Knockout of PTPRN endows hippocampal granule cells with augmented depolarization currents and higher intrinsic excitability,which is reflected by increased seizure susceptibility of transgenic mice.On the contrary,reduced neuron excit-ability and decreased seizure susceptibility are observed after PTPRN overexpression.Meanwhile,we find that a 133 aa fragment recaptures modulation effect of PTPRN full-length,and this fragment shows therapeutic potential towards epilepsy caused by NaV1.2 gain of function vari-ants.In brief,our results demonstrate PTPRN playsa criti-calroleinregulatingneuronexcitability,providing a poten-tial therapeutic approach for epilepsy.
