Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and drug resistance of Elizabethkingia meningoseptica (EM) nosocomial infection, so as to provide evidence for prevention of EM nosocomial infection and guiding the rational use of antibiotics. Methods A retrospective study was conducted of 67 patients with EM infection in a tertiary hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. The infective characteristics and drug resistance were analyzed. Results The cohort of 67 EM-infected patients was predominantly males aged ≥60 years, with the most frequent source being the first district of the intensive care unit (ICU), followed by the respiratory medicine and emergency department (19.40%, 13/67). The specimens were mainly isolated from respiratory tract (86.57%, 58/67), of which sputum accounted for 49.25% (33/67), and alveolar lavage fluid accounted for 37.31% (25/67). The majority of EM infections occurred in patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions (49.25%, 33/67), who generally experienced prolonged hospital stays and underwent invasive procedures, such as mechanical ventilation 94.03% (63/67), urinary catheterization (95.52%, 64/67), and central venous catheterization (97.01%, 65/67). Post-treatment, the improved rate of the 67 patients was 40.30% (27/67). Susceptibility testing demonstrated a high resistance rate of EM to cefoperazone-sulbactam, 98.39% (61/62), contrasted by significant susceptibility to compound trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX)/cotrimoxazole, doxycycline, minocycline, and piperacillin-tazobactam, with susceptibility rates exceeding 90%. Conclusions The patients infected with EM were almost elderly men with certain underlying diseases, experienced prolonged hospital stays, and had a history of invasive operations. The specimens of EM were mainly from Intensive Care Unit and isolated from respiratory tract. The strain showed high resistance to cefoperazone-sulbactam, whereas it remained highly susceptible to cotrimoxazole, doxycycline, minocycline and piperacillin-tazobactam, which may be considered as first-line treatment options.

Objective :
To study the effect of anterior traction on the temporomandibular joint in adolescent patients with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion.
Methods:
Twenty-nine patients with early permanent dentition with skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusions were measured by cephalometry and a coordinate system before and after maxillary protraction. The correlation between dentofacial structures and the temporomandibular joint was analyzed.
Results :
After maxillary protraction, cephalometric measurements showed that the dentofacial structure changed significantly; ANB increased by 3.97° ± 2.32° (P<0.001); U1-SN increased by 4.97° ± 5.51° (P<0.001); L1-MP decreased by 1.26° ± 1.41° (P = 0.008); and MP-SN increased by 1.02° ± 3.90° (P = 0.003). The coordinate system measurement showed that the S-Fpx was decreased by 0.16 ± 1.52 mm (P = 0.041), the S-Ciy distance was significantly decreased by 0.09 ± 2.03 mm (P = 0.028), and there was no significant change in the temporomandibular joint spaces (A, P, and C) (P>0.05). Correlation analysis showed a moderate negative correlation between the posterior margin of the temporomandibular joint fossa and U1-SN (r = -0.427, P = 0.042). There was a moderate positive correlation between the leading edge of the condyle and ANB (r = 0.425, P = 0.043); there was no correlation between the joint space and dentofacial changes.
Conclusion
After treatment with maxillary protraction for adolescent skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion, maxillary protraction had some effect on changes in the temporomandibular joint fossa and condyle and had no effect on the joint space.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in the expression of phospholipase C-gamma1tyr783 (PLC-γ1tyr783) in the condylar cartilage of a young rat during functional mandibular protraction. This work also explores the function of PLC-γ1tyr783 in the rat mandibular condylar cartilage bone remodeling, which could provide experimental evidence for clinical bone ortho- pedic work.
METHODSA total of 60 four-week-old male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used in this study. The rats were divided equally and randomly into experimental group and control group. The functional appliances that were fitted to the upper incisors of the animals in the experimental group were worn 24 h a day after the rats were fed for 7 d with homemade pellet feed. The animals in the experimental group, along with their matched controls, were sacrificed after 1, 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 d. The bilateral condylar was fixed, decalcified, dehyded, and then conventional paraffin embedded. Immunohisto- chemistry of PLC-γ1tyr783 was applied to observe its express distribution and variation.
RESULTSThe expression of PLC-γ1tyr783 decreased gradually in the control group, which showed age-related changes (P > 0.05). On the 14th day, PLC-γ1tyr783 expres- sion in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group. PLC-γ1tyr783 expression began to appear statistically and significantly different between the two groups (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONPLC-γ1tyr783 is involved in the bone remodeling process of the rat condylar cartilage after functional mandibular-protraction.
