After continuous development and improvement, lung transplantation has become the preferred means to treat a variety of benign end-stage lung diseases. However, the field of lung transplantation still faces many challenges, including shortage of donor resources, preservation and maintenance of donor lungs, and postoperative complications. Lung tissue samples removed after lung transplantation are excellent clinical resources for the study of benign end-stage lung disease and perioperative complications of lung transplantation. However, at present, the collection, storage and utilization of tissue samples after lung transplantation are limited to a single study, and unified technical specifications have not been formed. Based on the construction plan of the biobank for lung transplantation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, this study reviewed the practical experience in the collection, storage and utilization of lung transplant tissue samples in the aspects of ethical review, staffing, collection process, storage method, quality control and efficient utilization, in order to provide references for lung transplant related research.

3.Research Progress of Predictive Markers for Efficacy of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment 2022;49(12):1302-1306
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the main prevalent histological type of esophageal cancer worldwide, with a high mortality and poor prognosis due to advanced stage at diagnosis. Surgical resection after neoadjuvant therapy is the main treatment for ESCC. With the rise of immunotherapy, immunotherapy on ESCC has been shown to improve outcomes, especially the immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). As the efficacy of immunotherapy for ESCC is limited, it is helpful to screen patients who may benefit from immunotherapy by looking for predictive biomarkers of efficacy of immunotherapy. In this paper, based on the current literature on immunotherapy and related biomarkers, we review the research progress on predictive markers of ICIs for ESCC, in hopes of providing assistances for the precise treatment and prognosis determination.

Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment 2021;48(2):191-195
Intramural metastasis (IM) is defined as metastatic tumor from the primary tumor to the digestive tracts through the intramural lymphatic system. It can occur in esophageal, gastric and colorectal carcinomas, especially in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The combination of histological morphological evaluation and molecular pathology can assist in the identification of IM and multiple primary carcinomas (MPCs). IM is usually associated with a poor prognosis and also affects the treatment. This article reviews the anatomical and histological basis, clinicopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis of IM in ESCC, the identification of IM and MPCs and how to improve the detection rate of IM, to guide accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Objective:To understand the cognition and related factors on the use of HIV non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) among men who have sex with men (MSM).Methods:The snowballing method was applied to recruit research subjects who were ≥18 years old, had sex with men in the past three months, and were aware of nPEP in MSM groups in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Kunming from March 15 to April 14, 2019. Data on social demographics, behavioral characteristics, basic knowledge of nPEP, consultation, and using nPEP were collected through "i guardian Platform". The logistic regression model was used to analyze the related factors affecting the use of nPEP.Results:Among 1 809 investigated, 39.8% (720 persons) were aware of the basic knowledge of nPEP, 33.4% (605 persons) had consulted nPEP, and 15.0% (271 persons) had used nPEP. In addition, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that factors as whether to have sex with men infected with HIV in the last three months ( OR=2.58, 95% CI: 1.64-4.07), the frequency of HIV testing in the past year ( OR=2.47, 95% CI: 1.28-5.11), nPEP knowledge awareness ( OR=0.70, 95% CI: 0.49-0.99), whether to consult nPEP ( OR=70.98, 95% CI: 40.51-136.83) were related to the use of nPEP. Conclusions:MSM still have poor cognition of nPEP. It is necessary to strengthen the publicity and education of nPEP in MSM and promote the use of nPEP after HIV exposure as soon as possible.

Objective:To discuss the efficacy and safety of endoscopic papillectomy of major duodenal papilla neoplasms. Methods:The clinical-pathological data of 21 patients who were admitted to the Department of Endoscopy, Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and underwent endoscopic papillectomy of major duodenal papilla neoplasms from January 2014 to January 2020 were retrospectively studied, their postoperative outcomes and complication were also analyzed.Results:Tweenty-one patients were successfully performed endoscopic papillectomy of major duodenal papilla neoplasms. The resected lesions varied between 0.5-2.8 cm. Completed lesion was resected in 19 cases and lesion blocks in 2 cases. The incidence of postoperative complication was 52.4% (11/21), including 8 cases of postoperative bleeding (38.1%). Five patients stopped bleeding after endoscopic hemostasis and 3 patients stopped after interventional embolization. Two patients experienced perforation (9.5%) and recovered after conservative treatment including anti-inflammatory treatment and abdominal drainage. Five patients had pancreatitis (23.8%) and recovered after treatment with pre-somatostatin and anti-inflammatory rectal suppository. Preoperative pathological results of 21 patients suggested that 11 were high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia and 8 were low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, and 2 were chronic inflammation. Postoperative pathological results suggested that 4 were adenocarcinoma, and the rest 17 were adenoma. The coincidence rate of preoperative biopsy results and postoperative pathology was 38.1%(8/21), and underestimate of the pathological stage occurred in 11 patients (52.4%) during the preoperative biopsy, overestimate occurred in two patients (9.5%). Four cases had a positive incisal margin. All patients had good prognoses and no death event occurred during the follow-up period.Conclusions:Early-stage major duodenal papilla neoplasms should be treated with aggressive resection. Endoscopic papillectomy of duodenal papilla neoplasms is safe, effective, and can be recommended as the preferred procedure for major duodenal papilla neoplasms.

Objective:To analyze the pathologic features of responses to neoadjuvant immunotherapy of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lung. Methods:The study included 31 patients with resected lung SCC post neoadjuvant immunotherapy. All patients were recruited from the neoadjuvant anti-PD-1 (Sintilimab) phase Ⅰb clinical trial (ChiCTR-OIC-17013726). The histopathological morphology and different degrees of pathologic response to immunotherapy were evaluated basing on irPRC standard. Results:According to the percentage of residual viable tumor (% RVT), pathologic responses of complete pathologic response (cPR), major pathologic response (MPR) and non-MPR were noted in 19% ( n=6), 29% ( n=9), and 52% ( n=16) of patients respectively. In addition, extensive immune activation phenomena (immune cell infiltration, including infiltration of lymphocytes, plasma cells, foamy macrophages, lymphocyte aggregation and tertiary lymphoid structures formation) and tissue repair features (giant cells, granuloma formation, proliferative fibrosis and neovascularization) were observed in tumor regression bed. Conclusions:Neoadjuvant immunotherapy has favorable effect on lung SCC. Pathologic assessment of resected lung cancer specimens after neoadjuvant immunotherapy shows unique histopathological features consistent with its mechanism.
