Proteomic characterization of plasma is critical for the development of novel pharmacodynamic bio-markers.However,the vast dynamic range renders the profiling of proteomes extremely challenging. Here,we synthesized zeolite NaY and developed a simple and rapid method to achieve comprehensive and deep profiling of the plasma proteome using the plasma protein corona formed on zeolite NaY.Specifically, zeolite NaY and plasma were co-incubated to form plasma protein corona on zeolite NaY(NaY-PPC),followed by conventional protein identification using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.NaY was able to significantly enhance the detection of low-abundance plasma proteins, minimizing the"masking"effect caused by high-abundance proteins. The relative abundance of middle-and low-abundance proteins increased substantially from 2.54%to 54.41%,and the top 20 high-abundance proteins decreased from 83.63%to 25.77%.Notably,our method can quantify approxi-mately 4000 plasma proteins with sensitivity up to pg/mL,compared to only about 600 proteins iden-tified from untreated plasma samples.A pilot study based on plasma samples from 30 lung adenocarcinoma patients and 15 healthy subjects demonstrated that our method could successfully distinguish between healthy and disease states. In summary, this work provides an advantageous tool for the exploration of plasma proteomics and its translational applications.

Secondary lymphedema is a chronic progressive disease caused by the obstruction of lymphatic reflux, which leads to a series of secondary affection. There is no cure at present. Exploring the pathogenesis and treatment of lymphedema is based on animal models that mimic the pathophysiology of chronic lymphedema in humans. Currently, there are many known animal models of lymphedema, such as the limb lymphedema model of mice, dogs and other animals, and the rabbit ear lymphedema model. But most of them cannot induce the persistent and stable lymphedema temporarily, which lead to a deadlock in the related research progress. Therefore, it is necessary to improve and even create new animal models of lymphedema. This paper summarises the progress of relevant literature and provides references for further improving the establishment of a lymphedema animal model. It also summarise existing methods for evaluating lymphedema or lymphatic vessel function to provide an evaluation tool for modified or new animal models.

Conventional wisdom holds that the central nervous system (CNS) does not have lymphatic vessels or lymphatic circulation, and it lacks lymphatic pathways to clear brain metabolites. However, with the development of study in intracranial clearance, it has been discovered that there are lymphatic systems in CNS, including glymphatic pathway and it meningeal lymphatic vessels. It further reveals the exchange system between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and interstitial fluid (ISF). It also closely relates to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, age-related changes of brain, traumatic brain injury, circulatory diseases and tumors. In the past 10 years, the research in CNS has been a hot spot in life sciences. This article aims to explain the research progress from the aspects of the discovery of glymphatic system, anatomical structure and function, and relationship with Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Objective:To explore one-stage total knee arthroplasty (TKA) combined with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for knee osteoarthritis complicated with tibial stress fracture. Methods:The 3 patients were retrospectively analyzed who had been treated for knee osteoarthritis complicated with tibial stress fracture at Department of Orthopedics, Ganzhou District People's Hospital from March 2018 to March 2020. They were all female, aged from 54 to 76 years (average, 66 years). There were 2 transverse fractures and one short oblique fracture; all of them had knee varus deformity. The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) scores averaged 37.6 (from 28 to 50) for the left knee and 28.3 (from 22 to 39) for the right knee. One-stage TKA was performed for the articular surface while ORIF for the right tibial stress fracture for all patients. Recorded were fracture union time, HSS knee score and range of articular motion. Results:The 3 patients were followed up for 25 to 44 months (average, 32 months). The fracture union time ranged from 4 to 7 months (average, 5 months). The last follow-ups revealed no such complications as prosthesis loosening, peri-prosthesis osteolysis or joint instability. Knee varus deformity was corrected in all patients. The HSS knee scores at the last follow-up averaged 89.6 (from 88 to 91) for the left knee and 88.3 (from 85 to 90) for the right knee. Conclusion:In the treatment of knee osteoarthritis complicated with tibial stress fracture, one-stage TKA combined with ORIF can restore the function of knee joint, leading to fine curative effects.

Objective:To investigate the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI enhancement amplitude for qualitative diagnosis of suspicious residual enhancing lesions after neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) in breast cancer. Methods:In total, 168 suspicious residual enhancing lesions of 168 patients who received NAT at Peking University Cancer Hospital from January 2015 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into non-residual cancer group ( n=59) and residual cancer group ( n=109) according to pathological findings. Then 168 suspicious residual enhancing lesions were stratified according to molecular subtype and baseline enhancing morphology. According to the breast imaging reporting and data system, the morphology of enhancing lesions, the margin of mass-like enhancing lesions, and the distribution of non-mass-like enhancing lesions on MRI before NAT were recorded. The second phase (1 min 45 s-2 min after contrast injection) was used as the early phase, and the fifth phase (5-6 min after contrast injection) was used as the late phase to measure the signal intensity and time-signal intensity curve (TIC) of suspicious residual enhancing lesions, and the signal enhancement ratio (SER) was calculated. Independent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and χ 2 test were used to compare the difference of SER and clinical features between the non-residual and residual cancer groups. The receiver operator characteristic curve was used to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of SER to determine residual cancer. Results:There are statistically significant differences in invasive ductal carcinoma grade, hormone receptor status, the morphology of enhancing lesion on baseline MRI and TIC type between non-residual and residual cancer groups ( P<0.05). The SER values of the non-residual cancer group in the early [31% (23%, 61%)] and late (72%±43%) enhanced phases were significantly lower than those of the residual cancer group [49% (28%, 71%), 88%±38%, Z=-2.26, t=-2.43, P=0.024, 0.016, respectively]. Among suspicious residual enhancing lesions with hormone receptor negative status and single mass-like morphology, the SER values of the non-residual cancer group in the early (33%±16%) and late [64% (42%, 74%)] enhanced phases were significantly lower than those of the residual cancer group [59%±30%, 84% (77%, 106%), t=-2.86, Z=-3.17, P=0.008, 0.001, respectively]. The area under the curve values of SER in differentiating suspicious residual enhancing lesions were statistically different between early and late enhanced phases (0.606 and 0.637, respectively, Z=2.16, P=0.031). Conclusion:For breast cancer after NAT, it is difficult to determine the suspicious residual enhancing lesions on MRI subjectively, especially the hormone receptor negative lesions with single mass, SER can be used as an auxiliary diagnostic method, and it is necessary for the analysis of late enhancement.

The red doctor’s spirit is an important spiritual guidance for the cultivation of medical talents during the development of medical and health services in China. The teaching reform, which is oriented towards position competence, requires that students majoring in public health management should not only master solid medical knowledge and professional skills, but also possess an ability to handle medical public relations, such as shaping an excellent image of the organization, improving the medical interpersonal communication, and managing public relations crisis. Under the guidance of inheriting the red gene and innovating the medical education, the driving force of learning should be "serving the people to improve their health" led by "political firmness" , the learning goal "striving for perfection" inspired by "excellent technology" , and the working criterion "respecting patients, involving full participation and shouldering public responsibility" embodied in "making selfless dedication and helping the wounded and dying" . The article based on the characteristic culture of red medicine in the Air Force Medical University, applied the teaching method of role-playing case simulations to explore the teaching practice road of "theory-experience-practice-reflection" .
