Objective To explore the gender differences in the association between iron metabolism and bone turnover markers in elderly patients with fragility fracture. Methods A total of 271 patients admitted in our hospital from Aug 2014 to Oct 2017 with osteoporotic fractures were divided into two groups:109 males and 162 females, aged from 60 to 92 years. Both groups were further divided into 3 age groups(60 to 70,71 to 80,and ≥81 year group).Biochemical indicators, serum ferritin and bone turnover markers were detected eight hours after admission. Results In the male group, there were no statistical differences in serum ferritin and serum procollagen type Ⅰ Nterminal propeptide(PINP) among age groups (all P > 0.05).Serum β-carboxy terminal telopeptide of collagen type Ⅰβ-CTX(β-CTX)was elevated with ageing. In the female group, serum ferritin,PINP,and β-CTX were elevated with ageing. There was a significant positive correlation between serum ferritin and β-CTX in two gender groups (all P < 0.05)without gender difference.Gender difference was observed in the correlation between serum ferritin and PINP between two gender groups:a significant positive correlation in the female group (r =0.255,P =0.001)whereas a significant negative correlation in the male group(r=-0.207,P=0.031).Conclusions There are gender differences in correlations of serum ferritin with bone turnover markers.Increased iron accumulation in postmenopausal women is closely correlated with high bone turnover rate.

Objective To study the role and mechanism of sphingosine-l-phosphate (S1P)/sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1) signal pathway during post conditioning of hypertrophic cardiomyocytes. Methods Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were isolated and cultured, then stimulated by norepinephrine (NE) to induce cardiomyocytes hypertrophy.Using tri-gas incubator to create hypoxia and reoxygenation enviroment to mimic ischemia-reperfusion and postconditioning.Hypertrophic cardiomyoctyes were divided into five groups according to the presence or absence of various drugs and postconditiong and relevant signal pathways changes were detected:(1) IPost group (hypoxia + postconditioning);(2) IPost + S1P group (cells were pretreated with S1P (1 μmol/L) for 2 h before IPost);(3) IPost + W-146 + S1P group (cells in IPost + W-146 + S1P group were pretreated with S1P1 inhibitor W-146 (0.4 μmol/L) for 20 min);(4) IPost + PD98059 + S1P group (cells in IPost + S1P group were pretreated with MAPK antagonist PD98059 (125 μmo[/L) for 20 min);(5) IPost + LY-294002 + S1P group (cells in IPost + S1P group were pretreated with PI3K antagonist LY294002 (0.1 μmol/L) for 20 min).Apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry and protein expression of relevant signal pathways were detected by Western blot. Results (1) Apoptosis rate was significantly increased in hypoxia/reoxygenation (27.90 ± 4.49) % group compared with normal control group (7.97 ± 2.18) %,which could be significantly reduced in IPost group (15.90 ± 1.77) % (all P < 0.05).(2) Apoptosis rate and caspase-3 expression were both significantly lower in IPost + S1P and IPost + S1P + LY-294002 groups than in IPost and IPost + S1P + W-146 and IPost + S1P + PD98059 group (all P < 0.05).(3)p-ERK1/2 expression was significantly higher in IPost + S1P and IPost + S1P + LY-294002 group than in IPost and IPost + SIP + W-146 group and IPost + S1P + PD98059 group (all P < 0.05) while p-Akt expression was similar among IPost,IPost + S1P + W-146 and IPost + S1P +PD98059 groups.p-ERK1/2 and p-Akt levels in IPost + S1P + W-146 group and IPost + S1P + PD98059 were similar as in IPost group. Conclusions S1P can play protective role on NE induced cardiomyocytes hypertrophy during post conditioning through downregulating caspase-3 expression and reducing apoptosis rate via targeting S1P1 and activating ERK1/2 signal pathway.

Objective To explore the effect of quality control circle ( QCC) activities on increasing early neonatal contact rate of mother and early breast sucking rate .Methods Set up a QCC,then follow the steps of QCC with professional tools to solve existing problems in early skin-to-skin contact for mothers and their healthy newborn infants and early breast sucking .Rate was compared before and after the improvements .Results The early neonatal contact rate of mother and early breast sucking rate increased from 80.94% to 93.57%,and the difference was significant (χ2 =35.07,P<0.001).Conclusions The application of the quality improvement tool of QCC could improve the early skin-to-skin contact for mothers and their healthy newborn infants and early breast sucking , and helps the mother to breastfeed successfully .

Objective To explore the clinical effect and lung CT change of long-term used of low-dose roxithromycin in treatment for bronchial expansion patients in stable phase. Methods 94 cases collected in the Department of Respiration, The Second Hospital Affiliated to Suzhou University from February 2011 to December 2012 were diagnosed as bronchiectasis, 34 cases in control group were given oral treatment for ambroxol 30 mg, three times one day, 60 cases in treatment group were added roxithromycin 75 mg on basis of control group, two times one day. Patients in two groups were both treated for 6 months. The therapeutic effect and the score of life quality and dyspnea scores in two groups were observed, and the changes of CT data were compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the life quality score and dyspnea score of two groups were all improved, but the treatment group was signiifcantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The effective rate in treatment group was 86.67%, which was signiifcantly higher than 70.59%in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, chest CT imaging score of patients in treatment group were improved, signiifcantly better than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Long-term low dose administration of roxithromycin can control and stable bronchiectasis symptoms, and improve signs and symptoms .

To obtain oleaginous yeast mutants with improved lipid production and growth rates, an atmospheric and room temperature plasma (ARTP) jet was used with a 96-well plate for high throughput screening. Mutants with changes in growth rates and lipid contents were obtained. At a lethality rate of 99%, the positive mutation rate of the yeast cells was 27.2% evaluated by the growth rates of the mutants and the comparison with the wild strain. The fermentation in a medium composed of yeast extract (10 g/L), peptone (10 g/L) and D-glucose (20 g/L) resulted in the lipid yield of the mutant (C4) with 4.07% (W/W) compared with that of the wild strain (1.87%).

Objective To study the feasibility of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in treatment of thoraco-lumbar fractures. Methods Twenty-two patients with thoraeo-lumbar fractures were treated with the posterior percutaneous or open pedicle screw fixation respectively.Operation time, the bleeding volume, the height of the anterior border, the cobb angles of seoliosis, the late loss of correction, and complications were compared. Results All patients were followed up for mean 19 months(13 to 22 months). In percutaneous group, the mean time of operation was 102 minutes, the anterior height of compressed vertebral bodies was restored from 52% to 95% of the normal height, and the Cobb angle was corrected from 16?to 6.3?,the mean late loss of correction was 13% in percutaneous group, and there were no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05).The mean bleeding volume in the percutaneous group and open group was 102 ml and 290 ml respectively, which showed significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Posterior percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in treatment of thoracolumar fractures, which didn't need vertebral canal decompression, was a perfect and effective method.Compared with open method,it had such strongpoints as quicker recovery and less invasive.
