ObjectiveTo explore the effects of angle and original moisture content on the moisture distribution, migration and contents of effective components in the drying process of sliced Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma(SMRR). MethodsSet the slicing angles of SMRR at 30°, 45°, and 90°. Cut the fresh samples, 1/3 dehydrated samples, and 2/3 dehydrated samples, dry them in an oven at 40 ℃ and take samples at the set time points. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(LF-NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) were used to analyze the changes in transverse relaxation time(T2) of SMRR samples in 9 treatment groups at specific times, as well as the distribution and migration of water in the samples. The contents of tanshinone ⅡA, tanshinone Ⅰ, cryptotanshinone, and salvianolic acid B in samples from 9 different treatment groups were determined by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC), and the best processing technology of SMRR was screened by combining with One-way ANOVA, Duncan multiple comparison and principal component analysis(PCA). ResultsThe moisture content of dry basis of SMRR in each treatment group decreased with the extension of drying time. The drying rate of fresh cut group decreased slowly at first, while the drying rate of water loss group showed a trend of increasing at first and then decreasing. The internal water of SMRR could be divided into three states, including bound water, non flowing water and free water. During the drying process, the water migration law showed that the free water of fresh cut group disappeared after drying for 12 h, the content of bound water gradually decreased, and the overall fluidity deteriorated. In the water loss group, part of the free water was transformed into more cohesive and non flowing water after drying for 3 h, and the three kinds of water basically disappeared after drying for 12 h. The MRI results showed that the entire dehydration process slowly moved from the outer side to the center, and the internal water eventually dissipated. In terms of the contents of active ingredients, the order of the effect of slicing angle on the total content of active ingredients in SMRR was 30°>45°>90°. The content of tanshinones was ranked as 1/3 dehydrated group>2/3 dehydrated group>fresh cut group, and the content of salvianolic acid B was ranked as 1/3 dehydrated group>fresh cut group>2/3 dehydrated group. Combined with the results of PCA and comprehensive scoring results, the overall level of effective component content in SMRR was the highest when cut at 30° after 1/3 of water loss. ConclusionAfter comprehensive evaluation, SMRR can be sliced at 30° after 1/3 of water loss. It is not only easy to cut, but also the surface and cross-sectional colors remain basically unchanged after drying, which is similar to the color under traditional processing, and the effective ingredients are preserved the highest. This study can provide a basis for the optimization of processing technology of SMRR.

Objective To evaluate the role of distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing in evaluating early hearing loss among noise-exposed workers. Methods A total of 174 noise-exposed workers in a metal shipbuilding enterprise were selected as the research subjects by the convenience sampling method. Pure tone audiometry (PTA), DPOAE and the level of noise exposure were conducted on the workers. The rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between DPOAE amplitude and PTA threshold. The multilevel model was used to analyze the effects of gender, age, noise exposure intensity, cumulative noise exposure (CNE), hearing loss classification and PTA threshold on DPOAE results. Results At the frequencies of 0.50, 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, 6.00 and 8.00 kHz, the DPOAE amplitude was negatively correlated with the PTA threshold (rank correlation coefficients were -0.12, -0.48, -0.47, -0.18, -0.23, -0.44, -0.19, respectively, all P<0.01). At the most frequencies, DPOAE amplitude was negatively correlated with age and CNE (all P<0.05). The results of multilevel model analysis showed that there were significant differences in DPOAE amplitudes at certain frequencies across gender, age, noise intensity, CNE, and hearing loss classification (all P<0.05). Significant differences in DPOAE responses were found among different CNE and hearing loss groups (all P<0.01). Conclusion DPOAE testing can objectively reflect the hearing status of noise-exposed workers and could be considered for inclusion in routine hearing monitoring to facilitate early detection of noise-induced hearing loss.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of rhizosphere organic acids secreted by the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza on continuous cropping obstacles. MethodsThe mixed solution of organic acids in the rhizosphere of S. miltiorrhiza in continuous cropping and rotation cropping was added to the hairy roots subcultured for 21 days, and samples were collected on days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. The changes of biomass, effective components, primary metabolites, secondary metabolites, antioxidant enzymes, and hormones in hairy roots of S. miltiorrhiza were observed and determined. ResultsCompared with the rotation cropping group and the blank control group, the simulation of organic acid secretion from the roots of S. miltiorrhiza had a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of hairy roots and decreased the content of effective components as well as total sugar and total protein in primary metabolites. Compared with the blank control group, the rotation cropping group and the continuous cropping group showed total sugar and total protein content decreases of 33.9% and 5.1%, respectively. On the other hand, the secretion of organic acids from S. miltiorrhiza roots significantly promoted the accumulation of total phenolic acids and total tanshinone, which showed increases of 14.6% and 1.6%, respectively, in continuous cropping group and rotation cropping group compared with the blank control group. ConclusionThe organic acid environment under continuous cropping significantly inhibited the growth of hairy roots and the accumulation of primary metabolites, while promoting the synthesis and accumulation of secondary metabolites of S. miltiorrhiza.

BackgroundNon-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior among adolescents has become a global public health concern. Anxiety and depression are considered key factors influencing NSSI behavior, while social support may play a protective role in alleviating emotional and behavioral issues. However, existing research has primarily focused on the direct impact of individual factors on NSSI behavior, with insufficient exploration of the combined effects of anxiety, depression and social support. ObjectiveTo investigate the direct effect of anxiety on NSSI, the mediating role of depression and the moderating role of social support in relationship between anxiety and NSSI behavior, thus to provide references for the prevention and intervention of NSSI behavior among adolescents. MethodsIn February 2022, a total of 40 820 students in grades 7 to 12 across 10 middle schools in a district of Chengdu were selected as participants, and they were assessed using Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7 item (GAD-7), Patient's Health Questionnaire Depression Scale-9 item (PHQ-9), Social Support Scale for Urban Students (SSSUS) and Adolescent Self-Harm Scale (ASHS). Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the correlations between scale scores among adolescents with NSSI behaviors. Mediation and moderation analyses were performed using Process 3.5 in SPSS, and the significance was tested with bootstrapping. The interaction was visualized by using simple slope analysis. ResultsAmong 34 534 (84.60%) valid respondents, 542 adolescents (1.57%) reported engaging in NSSI behavior. Significant differences in gender, GAD-7 scores, PHQ-9 scores, and SSSUS scores were observed between NSSI behavior group and non-NSSI group (χ²/t=62.889, 71.120, 94.365, -41.464, P<0.01).Adolesents with NSSI showed positive correlations between GAD-7 scores and both ASHS and PHQ-9 scores (r=0.158, 0.166, P<0.01). PHQ-9 scores were positively correlated with ASHS scores (r=0.364, P<0.01), but negatively correlated with SSSUS scores (r=-0.290, P<0.01). SSSUS scores were negatively correlated with ASHS scores (r=-0.247, P<0.01). Depression partially mediated the relationship between anxiety and NSSI behavior, with an effect size of 0.544 (95% CI: 0.162~0.944), accounting for 35.79% of the total effect. Social support moderated the relationship between depression and NSSI bahavior, with an effect value of -0.082 (95% CI: -0.135~-0.029). ConclusionAnxiety not only directly influences NSSI bahavior among adolescents, also indirectly exacerbates it through depression, while social support mitigates the impact of depression on NSSI behavior. ObjectiveBased on the ultrastructure of enteric nervous system (ENS)-platelet-derived growth factor receptor α positive (PDGFRα+) cell - smooth muscle cell (SMC) network, the effect and mechanism of Shuwei Decoction (舒胃汤) for rats with functional dyspepsia (FD) of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome were explored. MethodsFifty SD rats were divided into blank group, model group, low-, medium- and high-dose Shuwei Decoction groups randomly, with 10 rats in each group. The blank group was not set up, and the other 4 groups were set up with the modified composite cause (chronic restraint stress + tail irritation + excessive fatigue + diet disorder) for 21 days, resulting in FD model rats with liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome. After successful modelling, rats in the low-, medium- and high-dose groups were given 3.78, 7.56 and 15.12 g/(kg·d) of Shuwei Decoction by gavage, respectively, while rats in the blank group and the model group were given 10 ml/(kg·d) of saline by gavage; all of them were given gavage once a day for 14 days. Body mass increase were collected before and after gavage, and compared after the experiment; the elevated cross maze experiment was conducted to observe the percentage of staying time and the percentage of times entering the open arm of rats; the gastric emptying rate and small intestinal propulsion rate were measured by black semi-solid paste; HE staining was used to observe histopathology of the gastric antrum; the Western Blotting and RT-qPCR were used to detect the expression levels of PDGFRα, small conductance calcium activated potassium (SK3), and purinergic G protein-coupled receptor P2Y1 (P2Y1 R), and mRNA expression in gastric antrum; immunofluorescence double staining was used to detect the co-localization of PDGFRα with receptor tyrosine kinase (C-kit), protein gene product 9.5 (PGP9.5), Sk3, and smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in gastric sinusoidal tissues; and transmission electron microscopy was used to observe the ultrastructure of the ENS-PDGFRα+ cell-SMC network. ResultsHE staining results showed that the mucosal folds of gastric tissue were clear in all groups, no organic lesions such as bleeding, ulceration and swelling were observed, and the arrangement of gastric glands in the lamina propria of gastric sinusoidal tissues in model group and low-dose Shuwei Decoction group was disordered. The arrangement of gastric glands in lamina propria in medium- and high-dose Shuwei Decoction groups was more orderly, and the lesion degree was less than that in model group and low-dose Shuwei Decoction group. Compared with the blank group, the growth value of body mass, the percentage of open arm retention time, the percentage of times entering the open arm, the small intestine propulsion rate, and the gastric empty rate of rats in the model group significantly decreased after gavage; the expressions of PDGFRα, Sk3, P2Y1 protein and mRNA in gastric sinusoidal tissues decreased; the co-localization expression of PDGFRα with C-kit, Sk3, SMC and PGP9.5 significantly decreased (P<0.05 or P<0.01); the ultrastructure of ENS-PDGFRα+ cell-SMC network was damaged without gap junction. Compared with model group and low-dose Shuwei Decoction group, the growth value of body mass, the percentage of open arm retention time, the percentage of times entering the open arm, the small intestine propulsion rate, and the gastric empting rate of rats in medium- and high-dose Shuwei Decoction groups increased after gavage; the expressions of PDGFRα, Sk3, P2Y1 protein and mRNA in gastric sinusoidal tissues increased; the co-localization expression of PDGFRα with C-kit, Sk3, SMC and PGP9.5 significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01); the ultrastructure of ENS-PDGFRα+ cell-SMC network was intact. Compared with medium-dose Shuwei Decoction group, the protein expressions of PDGFRα, Sk3 and P2Y1, the mRNA expressions of PDGFRα and Sk3, and the co-localization expressions of PDGFRα and C-kit, Sk3, SMC, and PGP9.5 in high-dose Shuwei Decoction group increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01). ConclusionShuwei Decoction can improve the pathological lesion of the gastric antrum in the FD model rats with liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome and increase the gastric emptying rate as well as the small intestinal propusion rate. The mechanism of Shuwei Decoction on FD rats with liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome is related to the protection of the ultrastructural integrity of ENS-PDGFRα+ cell-SMC network.

Objective:To investigate the concern about pollen broadcasting in Chinese population from multiple dimensions and to understand the information about allergic rhinitis (AR) in China by analyzing related factors. Methods:From March 1 to September 30, 2022, a large-scale multi-center cross-sectional survey was conducted based on the Questionnaire Star platform in 21 Chinese hospitals. A total of 7 056 subjects from 7 regions in China: Northeast, North, East, Central, South, Southwest, and Northwest China were included. Basic characteristics (including social demographic characteristics and disease characteristics of AR patients), concern about pollen broadcasting, the willingness of pollen-induced AR (PiAR) patients to receive pollen broadcasting, and the treatment satisfaction rate of AR patients were collected. The chi-square test, multivariate linear regression model, and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the concern about pollen broadcasting in the Chinese population and related factors from multiple dimensions. Results:Among 7 056 subjects, 23.02% were concerned about pollen broadcasting. Among 3 176 self-reported AR and 1 019 PiAR patients, 25.60% and 39.16% were concerned about pollen broadcasting, respectively, which was higher than that of non-AR or non-PiAR subjects ( χ2 value was 21.74 and 175.11, respectively, both P<0.001). Among AR patients, the proportion of spring and autumn allergen-positive patients concerned about pollen broadcasting was higher than that in perennial allergen-positive patients ( χ2 value was 20.90 and 19.51, respectively, both P<0.001). The proportion of AR patients with asthma, sinusitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was higher than those without complications ( χ2 value was 50.83, 21.97, 56.78, 7.62, respectively, all P<0.05). The proportion of AR patients in North China who could find pollen broadcasting locally was 31.01%, significantly higher than those in other regions (all P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression model analysis showed that among PiAR patients, those with higher per capita household income and higher AR disease cognition levels had been concerned about pollen broadcasting in the past, and those complicated with allergic conjunctivitis had stronger intention to receive pollen broadcasting (B value was 0.24, 0.13, 0.66, 0.47, respectively, all P<0.05). The higher the disease cognition level of PiAR patients, the stronger their willingness to actively participate in treatment ( R2=0.72, P<0.001). Only 18.89% of AR patients felt satisfied with the treatment effect. Logistic regression analysis showed that in AR patients, the treatment satisfaction rate was significantly higher among those concerned about pollen broadcasting compared to those who were not ( OR=1.83, P<0.001). Conclusions:Currently, the dissemination of pollen broadcasting in China is hindered by various factors such as disease cognition level. The treatment satisfaction among AR patients remains unsatisfactory.

Objective:This study aimed to compare the audiological characteristics between children with unilateral auditory neuropathy (UAN) and single-sided deafness (SSD) to establish a valid basis for the differential diagnosis of children with UAN.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on audiological and imaging evaluations of children with UAN and SSD who were treated at Beijing Children′s Hospital of Capital Medical University between May 2015 and June 2023. There were 17 children with UAN, comprising 10 males and 7 females, with an average age of 4.7 years. Additionally, there were 43 children with SSD, consisting of 27 males and 16 females, with an average age of 6.5 years. Audiological assessments included Auditory brainstem response (ABR), Steady-state auditory evoked potential (ASSR), Behavioural audiometry, Cochlear microphonic potential (CM), Distortino-product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE), and acoustic immittance test. The results of the audiological assessment and imaging phenotypic between the two groups of children were compared and analyzed by applying SPSS 27.0 statistical software.Results:(1) The UAN group (77.8%) had a significantly higher rate of ABR wave III L than the SSD group (20.9%) ( P<0.01). The PA thresholds at 500 Hz and 1 000 Hz of children with SSD were higher than those of children with UAN, while the ASSR thresholds at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2 000 Hz, and 4 000 Hz of children with SSD were significantly higher than those of children with UAN ( P<0.05). (2) The degree of hearing loss in both UAN and SSD children was predominantly complete hearing loss. The percentage of complete hearing loss was significantly higher (χ2=4.353, P=0.037) in the SSD group (93.0%, 40/43) than in the UAN group (63.6%, 7/11). However, the percentage of profound hearing loss was significantly higher in the UAN group (27.3%, 3/11) than in the SSD group (2.3%, 1/43) ( Fisher′s exact test, P=0.023). In terms of hearing curve configuration, the percentage of flat type was significantly higher in the SSD group (76.7%, 33/43) than in the UAN group (36.4%, 4/11). The proportion of the UAN group (27.3%, 3/11) was significantly higher than that in the SSD group (2.3%, 1/43) in ascending type ( P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the hearing curves of the declining type and other types between the two groups ( P>0.05). (3) The proportion of imaging assessment without abnormality was significantly more common in the UAN group (81.8%) than in the SSD group (37.1%) (χ2=6.695, P=0.015). Conclusions:Compared to children with SSD, the occurrence of wave III L on the ABR test was significantly more common in children with UAN. The percentage of ascending hearing curves was significantly higher in children with UAN than in children with SSD. ASSR thresholds were significantly lower in children with UAN. The normal imaging phenotype was significantly more common in children with UAN than in children with SSD.
