1.Effect of the relationship between scotopic pupil and optical zone diameters on visual quality after small incision lenticule extraction

		                        			 AIM: To investigate the effect of the relationship between scotopic pupil and optical zone diameters on short-term subjective and objective visual quality after small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE).METHODS:In this prospective cohort study, 98 patients(196 eyes)who underwent SMILE from September 2021 to June 2023 were included. Participants were divided into two groups based on the ratio of scotopic pupil diameter to optical zone diameter: group A(ratio >1, 70 eyes)and group B(ratio ≤1, 126 eyes). The preoperative and postoperative uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA), spherical equivalent(SE), total corneal high-order aberrations at 4, 6, and 8 mm of pupil diameters, objective scatter index(OSI), pre- and post-operative QoV subjective visual quality questionnaire were observed and recorded. The refractive status of different groups of patients at different time points before and after surgery, and differences in subjective and objective visual quality indices were analyzed. Furthermore, the changes in subjective and objective visual quality(postoperative-preoperative)at different postoperative time points were analyzed between the two groups.RESULTS:No significant differences in visual acuity or refractive state were observed between the two groups at 3 mo postoperatively. In both the group A and the group B, there was a difference in the changes of corneal total higher-order aberration centered on 8 mm cornea at 1 mo postoperatively(P<0.05), and there was a difference in the changes of total higher-order aberration and corneal spherical aberration centered on 8 mm cornea at 3 mo postoperatively(all P<0.05). At 3 mo after surgery, the most commonly reported symptoms in the group A were glare, starburst, hazy vision, and halo. In the group B, the most common symptoms were hazy vision, halo, starburst, and glare. Statistically significant differences were observed in the severity of glare and visual fluctuation between groups before surgery and at 3 mo postoperatively(all P<0.05). However, no significant differences were found in the severity of halo, starburst, blurred vision, double vision, or focusing difficulty at 3 mo postoperatively(all P>0.05).CONCLUSION:When the scotopic pupil diameter exceeds the optical zone, SMILE may increase postoperative corneal aberrations, as evidenced by an increase in high-order corneal aberrations within an 8-mm central corneal range, a higher incidence of postoperative glare, and more severe glare and visual fluctuation symptoms. 2.Incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis and its influencing factors in Hubei Province based on the geographically weighted regression model

Methods  The data of reported incidence of tuberculosis and related influencing factors in various counties and districts of Hubei Province in 2020 were collected. Global Moran's I index, hotspot analysis and geographically weighted regression (GWR) model analysis were used to calculate the spatial autocorrelation of the incidence of tuberculosis, and to analyze the influencing factors affecting the incidence rate of tuberculosis.  Results  There were obvious regional differences in the space distribution of the incidence rate of tuberculosis. Hot spot analysis showed positive spatial correlation and obvious clustering. The GWR model (AICc=784.251) in this study had higher AICc value compared to the ordinary least squares regression (OLS) model (AICc=804.2585). The GWR model showed that the increase in the proportion of the population aged 65 and above and the proportion of the ethnic minority population had a significant promoting effect on the increase of the incidence rate of tuberculosis, and there was significant spatial heterogeneity. The effect of PM2.5 concentration on the incidence rate of pulmonary tuberculosis varied in different regions, and the degree of effect was also different.  Conclusion  The proportion of people aged 65 and above and the proportion of ethnic minorities may significantly influence the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. 4.Progress in research on health literate schools

		                        			Health literate schools (HeLit-Schools) play a significant role in fostering students  health literacy. The paper elucidates the background and conceptual connotations of HeLit-Schools, and analyzes how HeLit-Schools effectively integrate and enhance the health literacy of schools in three aspects: philosophy and core drivers, strategy and method implementation, as well as evaluation mechanisms and standard setting. Furthermore, the paper explores the implications of foreign HeLit-Schools research and practice for China under the context of "Healthy China" construction, as well as the key strategies for Chinese schools in the implementation of HeLit-Schools, aiming to provide a new perspective and theoretical support for Chinese schools to practice the  "Healthy  China initiative" and strengthen school construction from the perspective of health literacy.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
5.Effects of Exercise Preconditioning on the Inflammatory Response of Rats after Ischemic Stroke through Exosome-mediated miR-146a

		                        			Objective To explore the effect of exercise preconditioning on inflammatory response in ischemic stroke brain tissue which mediated by miR-146a in extracellular vesicles in rats with middle cerebral artery oc-clusion(MCAO),and its mechanism.Methods Sixty 6-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divid-ed into a non-exercise group and an exercise group.The non-exercise group was further divided into a sham-operation control group(C,n=15)and an MCAO model group(M,n=15),while the exercise group was further di-vided into an exercise only group(E,n=15)and an exercise plus MCAO model group(EM,n=15).Rats in the E and EM groups underwent 8 weeks of treadmill exercise,6 days per week,30 minutes per day.Then rats in the M and EM groups received MCAO to induce ischemic stroke,while the C and E groups underwent a sham surgery.Twenty-four hours after the surgery,neurobehavioral tests were performed.Plasma was collected to ex-tract extracellular vesicles,and brain tissue was collected to measure the volume of cerebral infarction by using the triphenyl tetrazolium chloride(TTC)staining.Moreover,the Nissl staining was conducted to observe neuronal and Nissl body.Mean while,the content of miR-146a in plasma extracellular vesicles and brain tissue was mea-sured by using the quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),and the expression of TNF receptor associat-ed factor 6(TRAF6),nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in brain tissues were determined using Western blotting.The targeting relationship between miR-146a and TRAF6 was detected by using the dual luciferase reporter gene assay.Results(1)The neurological behavioral scores of the EM and M groups were higher than those of the C group(P<0.01 and P<0.01),with that of the EM group lower than the M group(P<0.01).(2)TTC staining showed that the infarct volume of the EM and M groups was larger than that of the other two groups(P<0.01 and P<0.01),with that of the EM group smaller than the M group(P<0.01).(3)Nissl staining results showed that the neuronal arrangement was loose,the number of neurons re-duced,and the Nissl bodies were lightly stained and decreased in the M group compared with the C and E groups.Moreover,compared with the M group,the number of neurons and Nissl bodies increased in the EM group.(4)The qPCR analysis showed that the expression of miR-146a in the plasma-derived exosomes and brain tissues of the EM and M groups decreased compared with the C group(P<0.05 and P<0.01),with that of the EM group higher than the M group(P<0.05).(5)According to Western blotting,compared with the C group,the expression levels of TRAF6,NF-κB,and TNF-α proteins increased significantly(P<0.05 and P<0.01),with that of group EM signfiicantly lower than group M(P<0.05 and P<0.05).(6)Dual-luciferase report-er gene assay showed that miR-146a had a specific binding site with TRAF6.Conclusion Eight weeks of exer-cise preconditioning reduces the infarct area and the extent of brain damage,which may be mediated by miR-146a via exosomes,increasing the expression of miR-146a in brain tissue,targeting TRAF6,negatively regulat-ing TRAF6/NF-κB,and reducing the expression of TNF-α,thus alleviating the inflammatory response in brain tissue and exerting a protective effect on ischemic brain injury.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
6.Ferroptosis is essential for diabetic cardiomyopathy and is prevented by sulforaphane via AMPK/NRF2 pathways.

		                        			Herein, we define the role of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) by examining the expression of key regulators of ferroptosis in mice with DCM and a new ex vivo DCM model. Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), an important pathogenic factor of DCM, were found to induce ferroptosis in engineered cardiac tissues (ECTs), as reflected through increased levels of Ptgs2 and lipid peroxides and decreased ferritin and SLC7A11 levels. Typical morphological changes of ferroptosis in cardiomyocytes were observed using transmission electron microscopy. Inhibition of ferroptosis with ferrostatin-1 and deferoxamine prevented AGE-induced ECT remodeling and dysfunction. Ferroptosis was also evidenced in the heart of type 2 diabetic mice with DCM. Inhibition of ferroptosis by liproxstatin-1 prevented the development of diastolic dysfunction at 3 months after the onset of diabetes. Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) activated by sulforaphane inhibited cardiac cell ferroptosis in both AGE-treated ECTs and hearts of DCM mice by upregulating ferritin and SLC7A11 levels. The protective effect of sulforaphane on ferroptosis was AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-dependent. These findings suggest that ferroptosis plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of DCM; sulforaphane prevents ferroptosis and associated pathogenesis via AMPK-mediated NRF2 activation. 7.Molecular biomarkers for gestational diabetes mellitus and postpartum diabetes.

		                        			Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a growing public health problem worldwide that threatens both maternal and fetal health. Identifying individuals at high risk for GDM and diabetes after GDM is particularly useful for early intervention and prevention of disease progression. In the last decades, a number of studies have used metabolomics, genomics, and proteomic approaches to investigate associations between biomolecules and GDM progression. These studies clearly demonstrate that various biomarkers reflect pathological changes in GDM. The established markers have potential use as screening and diagnostic tools in GDM and in postpartum diabetes research. In the present review, we summarize recent studies of metabolites, single-nucleotide polymorphisms, microRNAs, and proteins associated with GDM and its transition to postpartum diabetes, with a focus on their predictive value in screening and diagnosis.

8.SHANK2 is a frequently amplified oncogene with evolutionarily conserved roles in regulating Hippo signaling.

		                        			Dysfunction of the Hippo pathway enables cells to evade contact inhibition and provides advantages for cancerous overgrowth. However, for a significant portion of human cancer, how Hippo signaling is perturbed remains unknown. To answer this question, we performed a genome-wide screening for genes that affect the Hippo pathway in Drosophila and cross-referenced the hit genes with human cancer genome. In our screen, Prosap was identified as a novel regulator of the Hippo pathway that potently affects tissue growth. Interestingly, a mammalian homolog of Prosap, SHANK2, is the most frequently amplified gene on 11q13, a major tumor amplicon in human cancer. Gene amplification profile in this 11q13 amplicon clearly indicates selective pressure for SHANK2 amplification. More importantly, across the human cancer genome, SHANK2 is the most frequently amplified gene that is not located within the Myc amplicon. Further studies in multiple human cell lines confirmed that SHANK2 overexpression causes deregulation of Hippo signaling through competitive binding for a LATS1 activator, and as a potential oncogene, SHANK2 promotes cellular transformation and tumor formation in vivo. In cancer cell lines with deregulated Hippo pathway, depletion of SHANK2 restores Hippo signaling and ceases cellular proliferation. Taken together, these results suggest that SHANK2 is an evolutionarily conserved Hippo pathway regulator, commonly amplified in human cancer and potently promotes cancer. Our study for the first time illustrated oncogenic function of SHANK2, one of the most frequently amplified gene in human cancer. Furthermore, given that in normal adult tissues, SHANK2's expression is largely restricted to the nervous system, SHANK2 may represent an interesting target for anticancer therapy.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
9.A retrospective follow-up study of hepatitis C virus related cirrhosis treated with direct-acting antiviral agent

		                        			Objective:To investigate the prognosis and outcome of patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) related cirrhosis after achieved sustained virologic response (SVR) treated with direct-acting antiviral agent (DAA).Methods:Ninety-five patients diagnosed with CHC related cirrhosis who had complete data in Tianjin Second People′s Hospital from January 2014 to June 2017 were retrospectively followed up. Among them, 72 patients were treated with DAA and all of them achieved SVR, and the other 23 patients did not receive any antiviral therapy. The differences of mortality and incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) between DAA treatment group and non-antiviral treatment group were compared. Statistical analysis was performed by independent sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test and chi-square test. Results:At the end of follow-up for three to 71 months, patients in DAA treatment group had a significant improvements in alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, albumin and liver stiffness measurement compared with those before treatment (42(23, 61) U/L vs 18(13, 28) U/L, 54(37, 75) U/L vs 23(18, 28) U/L, 39(33, 42) g/L vs 45(41, 48) g/L, 26(18, 37) kPa vs 15(11, 26) kPa, respectively, Z=-6.005, -7.008, -6.057 and -3.162, respectively, all P<0.01). However, there were no significant differences in incidence of HCC (12%(9/72) vs 17%(4/23)) and mortality (3%(2/72) vs 13%(3/23)) between the DAA treatment group and non-antiviral treatment group (both P>0.05). There was no significant difference of cumulative incidence of HCC in DAA treatment group compared with non-antiviral treatment group ( P=0.609). The age of patients progressed to HCC was older than those without HCC ((60.3±3.6) years vs (54.4±9.9) years, t=-3.948, P<0.01). In subgroup analysis, among the six patients with HCC, four had diabetes, the prevalence of diabetes in the patients without HCC was 17%(7/42); the level of fasting blood glucose (FBG) ((7.3±1.9) mmol/L vs (5.9±1.1) mmol/L) were higher in patients progressed to HCC than those without HCC in DAA treatment group with compensated cirrhosis ( χ2=7.430 and t=-2.442, respectively, both P=0.019). Conclusions:DAA treatment could notably improve liver function and alleviate liver fibrosis, but could not reduce the mortality and incidence of HCC in patients with CHC related cirrhosis significantly. 10.Interaction between wheat translationally controlled tumor protein TCTP and SNF1-related protein kinase SnRK1.

		                        			Translationally controlled tumor proteins (TCTP) and SNF1- related protein kinase (SnRK1) are conserved and widely present in eukaryotic cells. TCTP regulates cell division, plant growth and development, and mediates plant resistance against pathogen infection. SnRK1 participates in a range of physiological processes including sugar metabolism and resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses. Previous work in our laboratory demonstrated that wheat TCTP can respond to Puccinia triticina infection and induce host defense responses. In order to further investigate the mechanism of TaTCTP in wheat resistance to Puccinia triticina infection, we used TAP (tandem affinity purification) and mass spectrometry to screen the potential interactants of TaTCTP. A SNF1- related protein kinase (SnRK1) was identified as a potential interacting protein of TaTCTP. The results of yeast two-hybrid assay showed that TCTP could interact with SnRK1 in yeast, and the yeast carrying TCTP and SnRK1 could grow on SD/-Leu/-Trp/-His/-Ade (SD/-LWHA) medium. The fluorescence signal of the interaction between TCTP and SnRK1 was found to be distributed in the cytoplasm in the Bi-fluorescense complementation experiment. Co-IP experiments further showed that TCTP and SnRK1 could interact in plant cells. This study lays an important foundation for further studying the mechanism of TaTCTP in the interaction between wheat and Puccinia triticina, and it play a great influence on further improving the molecular mechanism of wheat resistant to Puccinia triticina.
