Basophils, which are considered as redundant relatives of mast cells and the rarest granulocytes in peripheral circulation, have been neglected by researchers in the past decades. Previous studies have revealed their vital roles in allergic diseases and parasitic infections. Intriguingly, recent studies even reported that basophils might be associated with cancer development, as activated basophils synthesize and release a variety of cytokines and chemokines in response to cancers. However, it is still subject to debate whether basophils function as tumor-protecting or tumor-promoting components; the answer may depend on the tumor biology and the microenvironment. Herein, we reviewed the role of basophils in cancers, and highlighted some potential and promising therapeutic strategies.

Hydrofluoric acid is a common surface treatment agent for glass ceramic restorations before bonding. However, the use of hydrofluoric acid has a high safety risk, so the search for hydrofluoric acid substitutes has been a research hotspot. Tetrabutylammonium dihydrogen trifluoride is a kind of fluoride, whose chemical activity is lower than that of hydrofluoric acid, so it’s safer, and the surface morphology changes on glass ceramics caused by it are smaller and more superficial. At present, the vast majority of laboratory studies and clinical case reports indicate that the mechanical strength and bonding strength of glass ceramics treated with tetrabutylammonium dihydrogen trifluoride can meet the clinical requirements. In the future, according to the research results, the performance of porcelain surface treatment agents containing tetrabutylammonium dihydrogen trifluoride can be further improved, and more hydrofluoric acid substitutes may be developed. In this review, the research progress of tetrabutylammonium dihydrogen trifluoride as a substitute for hydrofluoric acid is reviewed in terms of the influence of the surface morphology, mechanical strength, and bonding strength of glass ceramics.

Objective:To study the feasibility and safety in treatment of trauma to right posterior liver using laparoscopic surgery with patients in the left semiprone position. Methods:The clinical data of consecutive patients who were diagnosed to have trauma to the right posterior liver and were treated with laparoscopic surgery with patients in the left semiprone position at the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities between February 2016 and August 2020 were retrospectively analysed. The patients’ gender, age, mechanisms of injury, operative methods, operative time, amounts of abdominal effusion, degrees of liver injury, extents of intraoperative bleeding, amounts of postoperative drainage, lengths of postoperative hospital stay, and major postoperative complications were recorded and analyzed. Results:Among the 18 patients, there were 16 males and 2 females, aged (41.6±14.4) years. The mechanisms of liver trauma were caused by fall injury ( n=10), traffic accidents ( n=4), blunt injury ( n=2) and penetrating injury ( n=2). The levels of injuries were level Ⅲ in 16 patients and level Ⅳ in 2 patients. Laparoscopic suture repair was performed in 8 patients, partial hepatectomy in 4 patients, electrocoagulation hemostasis in 4 patients and ligation of bleeding vessels in 2 patients. All were successful in hemostasis. Abdominal effusion was (1 528.8±373.2) ml, intraoperative blood loss (80.6±16.7) ml, operation time (88.5±9.1) min, postoperative hospital stay 7 days and postoperative total drainage (93.8±13.6) ml. Ten patients were complicated with right pleural effusion, and they recovered with conservative treatment. There were no bile leakage, infection and other complications. Conclusion:Trauma to right posterior liver treated with laparoscopic with surgery patients in the left semiprone position had the advantages of adequate exposure which facilitated surgical hemostasis, resulting in minimal collateral damages and short hospital stay. The treatment was feasibility and safe.

Circular RNA (circRNA) is a type of single-stranded RNA that binds in a closed loop structure by covalent bond. It is highly expressed and has diverse functions in the eukaryotic transcriptome, and it also has the potential to regulate the process of cell differentiation. Stem cells are important seed cells and common research tools in the field of tissue engineering, which have multi-directional differentiation potential and low immunogenicity. Its clinical application for the treatment of diseases has broad prospects, and the research on their differentiation mechanism has gradually penetrated to the molecular level. A number of studies have shown that circRNA participates in stem cell differentiation and plays a key role through a variety of pathways. This article focuses on the expression changes of circRNA during stem cell differentiation and its research advancement in regulating the differentiation mechanism of various stem cells. The review also prospects its possible role in tissue regeneration and repair, in order to further study the molecular mechanism of circRNA involved in stem cell differentiation and provide ideas for clinical practice of stem cells in biomedical engineering.

Objective To investigate the relationship between cerebral infarction (CI) and the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of rs11833579G/A and rs4980959C/A of NINJ2 gene in Han population of the Western Guangdong province in China. Methods Genotype and allele frequency of rs11833579G/A and rs4980959C/A were analyzed in 278 cerebral infarction patients and 120 healthy controls. Results There was insignificant difference in frequencies of genotypes and allele in two polymorphisms (rs11833579 G/A and rs4980959C/A) of NINJ2 gene between CI and control groups (P>0.05). AA genotype frequency of rs4980959C/A was more in patients with small-artery occlusion (SAA) than in the control group (18.3% vs 9.2%, P=0.041), while the A allele frequency was more in the patients with SAA than in the control group (35.4% vs 46.1%, P=0.019). Logistic regression analysis indicated that AA genotypes of rs4980959C/A was a risk factor for SAA over G allele carriers (OR=4.012, 95%CI: 1.209~14.939, P=0.027). Conclusion NINJ2 gene 5' upstream untranslated region SNPrs11833579G/ A polymorphism does not associate with the risk of ischemic stroke. NINJ2 gene 5' upstream untranslated region SNPrs4980959C/ AA allele is a risk factor for SAA, AA genotype is a susceptible genotype for SAA.
