Objective: To explore the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution and depressive symptom among school aged children and adolescents, so as to provide evidences for informing constitution based regulation and prevention of depressive symptom. Methods: From June to December 2024, a total of 4 729 students aged 6-14 were recruited by cluster random sampling from 10 primary schools in Baoding (Hebei Province), Heze and Liaocheng (Shandong Province). General information, TCM constitution and depressive symptom were collected. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to analyze related factors and threshold effects of depressive symptom. Binary Logistic regression was applied to examine the association between depressive symptom and TCM constitution, with subgroup analyses conducted. Results: The detection rate of depressive symptom among the included children and adolescents was 25.82%. RCS analyses indicated non linear associations between depressive symptom and age (inflection point at 10 years old), bedtime (inflection point at 22:00), and wake up time (inflection point at 6:30 ) (all P non linearity <0.01). Linear associations were observed with body mass index (BMI) and sleep duration (all P non linearity > 0.05 ). After adjusting for covariates such as age, BMI and sleep status, binary Logistic regression analyses showed that Yin deficient constitution ( OR =1.26, 95% CI =1.09-1.45) and Phlegm-dampness constitution ( OR =1.42, 95% CI =1.11-1.82) were significantly associated with depressive symptom among children and adolescents (all P <0.05). Conclusions Depressive symptom among school aged children and adolescents is primarily associated with Yin deficiency and Phlegm dampness constitutions in TCM constitution. Active attention should be paid to susceptible TCM constitution among children and adolescents. Targeted health guidance and interventions should be implemented to improve TCM constitution health status for preventing the occurrence of depressive symptom.

Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) is one of the most commonly occurring pathogens associated with genital tract infections in infertile males, but the impact of seminal UU infection in semen on intrauterine insemination (IUI) outcomes is poorly understood. We collected data from 245 infertile couples who underwent IUI at The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC (Hefei, China) between January 2021 and January 2023. The subjects were classified into two groups according to their UU infection status: the UU-positive group and the UU-negative group. We compared semen parameters, pregnancy outcomes, and neonatal birth outcomes to investigate the impact of UU infection on IUI outcomes. There were no significantly statistical differences in various semen parameters, including semen volume, sperm concentration, total and progressive motility, sperm morphology, leukocyte count, the presence of anti-sperm antibody, and sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI), between the UU-positive and UU-negative groups of male infertile patients (all P > 0.05). However, the high DNA stainability (HDS) status of sperm differed between the UU-positive and UU-negative groups, suggesting that seminal UU infection may affect sperm nuclear maturation ( P = 0.04). Additionally, there were no significant differences in pregnancy or neonatal birth outcomes between the two groups (all P > 0.05). These results suggest that IUI remains a viable and cost-effective option for infertile couples with UU infection who are facing infertility issues.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between serum levels of fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23), heparanase (HPSE) and early renal impairment (RI) in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 125 MM patients who were initially diagnosed in the Department of Hematology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology from June 2020 to June 2023. The patients were divided into RI group (>176.80 μmol/L) and non-RI group (≤176.80 μmol/L) based on their serum creatinine levels when diagnosed. The baseline data and laboratory indexes of the two groups were compared. The relationship between serum FGF-23, HPSE and early RI in MM patients was analyzed. RESULTS: Among 125 newly diagnosed MM patients, 33 cases developed early RI, accounting for 26.40%. The proportion of light chain type, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), blood uric acid, lactate dehydrogenase, FGF-23, and HPSE levels in RI group were higher than those in non-RI group (all P <0.05). There was no statistical significant difference in other data between the two groups (P >0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that BUN, FGF-23 and HPSE were associated with early RI in MM patients (all P <0.05). The serum FGF-23 level was divided into Q1-Q4 groups by quartile, and the serum HPSE level was divided into q1-q4 groups. The correlation analysis showed that with the increase of serum FGF-23 and HPSE levels, the incidence of early RI increased (r =0.668, 0.592). Furthermore, logistic regression analysis showed that after controlling for confounding factors, elevated levels of serum FGF-23 and HPSE were still influencing factors for early RI in MM patients (OR>1, P <0.05). According to Pearson's linear correlation test, there was a positive correlation between serum FGF-23 level and HPSE level (r =0.373). CONCLUSION There is a certain correlation between serum levels of FGF-23, HPSE and early RI in MM patients, and the incidence of early RI is higher in patients with abnormally high levels of both.

Pulmonary disease is one of the major threats to human health. However, the current clinical treatment drugs for lung diseases generally have problems such as low lung delivery efficiency, fast clearance rate and obvious toxic side effects. Recently, membrane biomimetic nanocarriers have attracted more and more attention. Due to their advantages of high targeting, long cycle time, good biocompatibility and strong immune escape ability, membrane biomimetic nanocarriers have become a major research hotspot in targeted therapy of lung diseases. In this review, we discuss the main preparation methods of membrane biomimetic nanoparticles, the characteristics of membrane biomimetic nanocarriers from different cell sources and their application in the targeted therapy of lung diseases. At the same time, according to the characteristics of different membranes, the shortcomings, current technical limitations and future prospects are discussed. This review is expected to provide references for the design of membrane biomimetic nanocarriers and their potential applications in the treatment of lung diseases.

The author analyzed the characteristics of phase Ⅰ clinical trials of macromolecular drugs,the characteristics of evaluation indicators of phase Ⅰ clinical trials of macromolecular drugs,such as safety evaluation,pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic evaluation,and efficacy evaluation.And the control points of subjects management,management of experimental macromolecule drugs,and identified and potential risk factors of macromolecule drugs in the implementation of risk management for phase Ⅰ clinical trials of macromolecule drugs were discussed in depth based on previous clinical trial research experience.Through discussion and analysis,the author suggests that each research center can formulate risk control strategies according to the actual situation,improve the efficiency of risk control,and facilitate the smooth implementation of clinical trials and improve the quality of clinical trials.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) diseases are common clinical conditions. The number of patients with TMJ diseases is large, and the etiology, epidemiology, disease spectrum, and treatment of the disease remain controversial and unknown. To understand and master the current situation of the occurrence, development and prevention of TMJ diseases, as well as to identify the patterns in etiology, incidence, drug sensitivity, and prognosis is crucial for alleviating patients′suffering.This will facilitate in-depth medical research, effective disease prevention measures, and the formulation of corresponding health policies. Cohort construction and research has an irreplaceable role in precise disease prevention and significant improvement in diagnosis and treatment levels. Large-scale cohort studies are needed to explore the relationship between potential risk factors and outcomes of TMJ diseases, and to observe disease prognoses through long-term follw-ups. The consensus aims to establish a standard conceptual frame work for a cohort study on patients with TMJ disease while providing ideas for cohort data standards to this condition. TMJ disease cohort data consists of both common data standards applicable to all specific disease cohorts as well as disease-specific data standards. Common data were available for each specific disease cohort. By integrating different cohort research resources, standard problems or study variables can be unified. Long-term follow-up can be performed using consistent definitions and criteria across different projects for better core data collection. It is hoped that this consensus will be facilitate the development cohort studies of TMJ diseases.

Objective To evaluate the potential risk of transmission of angiostrongyliasis by common freshwater snails in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, so as to provide insights into local surveillance of angiostrongyliasis. Methods Common freshwater snails were collected from Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province from March to April, 2020, and identified and bred in laboratory. SD rats were infected with third-stage larvae of Angiostrongylus cantonensis that were isolated from commercially available Pomacea canaliculata snails in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, and freshwater snails were infected with the first-stage larvae of A. cantonensis that were isolated from the feces of SD rats 39 days post-infection at room temperature. The developmental process and morphological characteristics of worms in hosts were observed, and the percentages of A. cantonensis infections in different species of freshwater snails were calculated. Then, SD rats were infected with the third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis that were isolated from A. cantonensis-infected freshwater snails, and the larval development and reproduction was observed. Results More than 3 000 freshwater snail samples were collected from farmlands, ditches and wetlands around Erhai Lake in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, and Cipangopaludina chinensis, P. canaliculata, Parafossarulus striatulus, Oncomelania hupensis robertsoni, Galba pervia, Physa acuta, Radix swinhoei, Assiminea spp., Tricula spp. and Bellamya spp. were morphologically identified. A total of 105 commercially available P. canaliculata snails were tested for A. cantonensis infections, and 2 P. canaliculata snails were found to be infected with A. cantonensis, in which the third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis were isolated. Ten species of freshwater snails were artificially infected with the third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis, and all 10 species of freshwater snails were found to be infected with A. cantonensis, with the highest positive rate of A. cantonensis infections in Bellamya spp. (62.3%, 137/204), and the lowest in C. chinensis (35.5%, 11/31). After SD rats were infected with the third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis isolated from different species of freshwater snails, mature adult worms of A. cantonensis were yielded. Conclusions Multiple species of freshwater snails may serve as intermediate hosts of A. cantonensis under laboratory conditions in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. Further investigations on natural infection of A. cantonensis in wild snails in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture seem justified.

ObjectiveAcute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a highly prevalent and deadly disease globally, with its incidence continuing to rise in recent years. Timely reperfusion therapy is crucial for improving the prognosis of AMI patients. However, myocardial reperfusion can lead to irreversible myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury, which is associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes following AMI. Studies have shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) are abnormally expressed during MI/R injury and play an important role in the fate of cardiomyocytes. Effective preventive and therapeutic strategies against MI/R injury remain lacking in clinical practice, necessitating elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying MI/R onset and progression. This study investigated the role of microRNA-878 (miR-878) in the regulation of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis in MI/R injury. MethodsThe H9c2 cells were flushed with a gas mixture containing 1% O₂, 5% CO₂ and 94% N₂ for 3 h. Then the cells were incubated in complete culture medium under 5% CO₂ and 95% air for 6 h to mimic in vivo hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury. Cell viability were detected by CCK-8 assay. The concentrations of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were then measured.The level of apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry. The morphology of mitochondria was analyzed by immunofluorescence and laser confocal microscopy. The levels of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS) were detected by immunofluorescence. Dual luciferase reporter gene assay was used to study the binding site of miR-878 and Pim1. RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay was used to verify the binding relationship between miR-878 and Pim1. The gene expression levels were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot. ResultsThe study found that compared with the control group, the expression of miR-878 in H/R-treated H9c2 cells was significantly increased ((1.00±0.25) vs (9.70±2.63), P<0.01). In H/R-induced cells, transfection of miR-878 inhibitor significantly increased cell viability ((46.67±3.00) vs (74.62±4.08), P<0.000 1), and decreased LDH release ((358.58±41.71) vs (179.09±15.59), P<0.000 1) and cell apoptosis rate ((43.41±0.72) vs (27.42±4.48), P<0.01). At the same time, downregulation of miR-878 expression significantly inhibited DRP1-mediated mitochondrial overdivision and mtROS production ((6.60±0.57) vs (4.32±0.91), P<0.000 1). The mechanism study showed that miR-878 could target and bind Pim1 and inhibit the expression level of Pim1 ((1.00±0.13) vs (0.38±0.03), P<0.01). Rescue experiments confirmed that down-regulation of Pim1 expression significantly reversed the anti-injury effect of miR-878 inhibitor in H9c2 cells (P<0.01), promoted mitochondrial overdivision and mtROS production ((1.00±0.12) vs (2.41±0.12), P<0.01), and decreased the expression level of p-DRP1 ((1.00±0.15) vs (0.59±0.06), P<0.05). ConclusionThe present study demonstrates that miR-878 expression is upregulated in H9c2 cardiomyocytes subjected to H/R injury. Inhibition of miR-878 expression alleviates H/R-induced cardiomyocyte damage. Notably, downregulation of miR-878 significantly inhibits DRP1-mediated mitochondrial fission and mitigates mtROS production. Mechanistically, miR-878 targets and binds to the 3'-UTR of the Pim1 gene, thereby suppressing Pim1 protein expression. Collectively, these findings suggest that under H/R conditions, miR-878 promotes excessive mitochondrial fragmentation through DRP1 activation by targeting Pim1, ultimately contributing to cardiomyocyte injury. Modulation of the miR-878/Pim1 axis may represent a potential therapeutic strategy for mitigating MI/R-induced cardiac damage.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of the therapy of soothing liver and strengthening spleen(shortened as Shugan Jianpi therapy)in the treatment of active thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)complicated with dry eye,and to provide a reference basis for clinical treatment.Methods A total of 108 patients with active TAO complicated with dry eye of liver depression and qi stagnation type were randomly divided into observation group and control group,54 patients in each group.Both groups were given conventional treatment for intervention of Graves'disease,and additionally the control group was given hormone shock therapy by intravenous injection of Methylprednisolone Sodium Succinate,and the observation group was treated with Chinese medicine prescription for soothing liver and strengthening spleen orally and intravenous injection of Methylprednisolone Sodium Succinate.The treatment period lasted for 12 weeks,and then the patients were followed up till to the 6th month.The changes of clinical activity score(CAS),proptosis,ocular surface disease index(OSDI),corneal fluorescein staining(FL),Schirmer I test(SIT)and tear film break-up time(BUT)in the two groups were observed before and after the treatment.After treatment,the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated.Results(1)After 6 months of treatment,the total effective rate in the observation group was 94.44%(51/54)and that in the control group was 74.07%(40/54),and the intergroup comparison(tested by chi-square test)showed that the efficacy of the observation group was significantly superior to that of the control group(P＜0.05).(2)After treatment,the CAS,OSDI score and proptosis of the patients in the two groups were all lower than those before treatment(P＜0.01),and the reduction in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P＜0.01).(3)After treatment,the indicators of tear secretion function such as SIT,FL score and BUT of patients in the two groups were improved compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01),and the improvement in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group,the differences being all statistically significant(P＜0.01).Conclusion Shugan Jianpi therapy exerts certain clinical efficacy in treating patients with active TAO complicated with dry eye of liver depression and qi stagnation type,which can effectively relieve the proptosis,prolong the tear film break-up time,promote the secretion of tears and the repair of corneal epithelium,improve the visual function,and enhance the quality of life of the patients.

Objective To explore the effects of optimized nutrition intervention scheme on nutritional status and clinical outcome during transplantation in the patients with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).Methods Seventy inpatients with allo-HSCT in this hospital from January to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects and divided into the control group and intervention group by the random number table method,35 cases in each group.The control group conducted the conventional nutritional intervention and the intervention group conducted the optimized nutritional intervention.The nutri-tional indicators[body weight,patient-generated subjective global assessment (PG-SGA),energy and protein intake],levels of total protein (TP),albumin (ALB) and prealbumin (PA),hospitalization duration,hospitali-zation costs and adverse reactions occurrence were compared between the two groups.The differences in the nutritional status and clinical outcomes in the tow groups were comprehensively evaluated.Results Compared with the control group,the body weight decrease ranges in entering the laminar flow ward and on 60 d of transplantation in the intervention group were much less[3.10(1.10,4.80)kg vs. 4.30(3.10,6.70)kg;3.20 (1.00,5.50)kg vs. 4.15(3.33,7.88)kg],the PG-SGA score was lower[(10.43±3.25)points vs. (13.00±3.05) points],the PA level was higher[(189.63±51.29)mg/L vs. (163.83±48.03)mg/L],the energy and protein oral intakes were much more[(753.99±350.66)kcal vs. (539.96±247.65)kcal;(33.87±15.87)g vs. (20.43±12.57)g],the diarrhea occurrence rate was lower (14.3％ vs. 37.1％),and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Optimizing the nutritional intervention during allo-HSCT pe-riod is beneficial to improve the nutritional status of the patients,and reduce the incidence rate of adverse reac-tions.
