Magnetic cell sorting technology is a highly specific and rapid cell sorting technology using superparamagnetic nanocomposites for cell sorting, which is widely used in immunology, stem cytology, oncology, clinical medicine and other fields. Magnetic cell sorting technology is divided into positive isolation, negative isolation/untouched cell isolation, depletion, multi-step isolation and automated cell separation systems. In this review, we firstly give a brief introduction to the classification and application of magnetic cell sorting technology, then discuss several new techniques and challenges based on magnetic cell sorting in recent years, such as improving the sorting efficiency by improving the structure of magnetic materials and magnetic field structure. The necessity of biological evaluation of magnetic cell sorting products was emphatically analyzed. Through the biological evaluation, the advantages and disadvantages of magnetic cell sorting products can be understood, and the research and development ability could be improved. Therefore, 10 biological evaluation technical parameters related to magnetic cell sorting products were proposed: yield, purity, sterility, cytotoxicity, cell morphology, viability, light scattering characteristics of cells, fluorescent antibody labeling ability of cells, cell activation and cell proliferation. The 10 biological evaluation technical parameters play an important role in promoting the standardized application of magnetic cell sorting.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) diseases are common clinical conditions. The number of patients with TMJ diseases is large, and the etiology, epidemiology, disease spectrum, and treatment of the disease remain controversial and unknown. To understand and master the current situation of the occurrence, development and prevention of TMJ diseases, as well as to identify the patterns in etiology, incidence, drug sensitivity, and prognosis is crucial for alleviating patients′suffering. This will facilitate in-depth medical research, effective disease prevention measures, and the formulation of corresponding health policies. Cohort construction and research has an irreplaceable role in precise disease prevention and significant improvement in diagnosis and treatment levels. Large-scale cohort studies are needed to explore the relationship between potential risk factors and outcomes of TMJ diseases, and to observe disease prognoses through long-term follw-ups. The consensus aims to establish a standard conceptual frame work for a cohort study on patients with TMJ disease while providing ideas for cohort data standards to this condition. TMJ disease cohort data consists of both common data standards applicable to all specific disease cohorts as well as disease-specific data standards. Common data were available for each specific disease cohort. By integrating different cohort research resources, standard problems or study variables can be unified. Long-term follow-up can be performed using consistent definitions and criteria across different projects for better core data collection. It is hoped that this consensus will be facilitate the development cohort studies of TMJ diseases.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(6):831-834
Objective:
To examine the developmental trajectory of fine motor ability in schoolage children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for two years, so as to provide scientific evidence to promote motor development in ADHD children.
Methods:
From April to June 2019, 31 children aged 6-8 years old were selected from a public elementary school. They were diagnosed with ADHD by two psychiatric professionals according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) criteria. Additionally, 31 typical developmental children, matched for age, sex and IQ with the ADHD group, were recruited as the control group. Fine motor ability was assessed with tasks of hand manual dexterity in Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 (MACB-2), and a followup assessment was conducted from April to June 2021. The development changes of fine motor ability between two groups of children were compared by using t test and repeated measures analysis of variance.
Results:
Between baseline and followup periods after two years, the total score of hand fine motor in the ADHD group did not show significant improvement (7.4±3.0, 8.0±3.4; t=-1.05, P>0.05), while there was a small effect size improvement in typically developing control group (9.5±2.1, 10.5±2.4; t=-2.12, effect size=0.38, P<0.05). Followup after two years, coin/peg throwing scores with dominant hand improved between ADHD group and control group (7.0±3.3, 9.5±3.2; 8.4±2.8, 11.6±1.6) (t=-3.74, -6.33, P<0.01; effect size=0.67, 1.14), with a smaller improvement in the ADHD group. The score for threading beads/threads decreased in between ADHD group and control group (7.9±2.4, 5.8±3.1; 9.2±1.1, 8.2±1.9) (t=3.89, 2.78, P<0.01; effect size=0.70, 0.50), with a greater decrease in the ADHD group.
Conclusions
The development speed of fine motor ability in children with ADHD aged 6-8 is slow and continues to lag behind normal developmental children. Fine motor development in children with ADHD should be closely monitored, and targeted interventions should be implemented when necessary.

This study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of sappanone A (SA) in regulating renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in rats. The animal experiment has been approved by the Ethics Committee of Suzhou Wujiang District Children's Hospital (approval number: 2022010). First, hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining was used to evaluate the effects of SA on IRI, and renal damage was scored. Serum creatinine (SCr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and cystatin C (Cystatin C) were analyzed. The effect of sappanone A on the apoptosis of renal tubular epithelial cells induced by IRI was analyzed by TUNEL staining. Protein expression levels of p-JNK/JNK, p-ERK/ERK, Bcl2, Bax and cleaved-caspase 3 in renal tissues were detected by Western blot. Finally, H&E staining, serological analysis, TUNEL staining and Western blot were used to determine whether JNK activator anisomycin could reverse the effect of SA on IRI in rats. The results showed SA significantly reduced the renal tubule injury caused by ischemia-reperfusion, and decreased the level of SCr, BUN and Cys C in serum. TUNEL staining showed that SA significantly reduced the apoptosis of renal tubular epithelial cells induced by IRI. Western blot analysis of kidney tissue showed that SA significantly promoted the expression of apoptosis inhibiting protein Bcl2 and inhibited the expression of apoptosis-promoting proteins Bax and cleaved-caspase 3. Further analysis elucidated that SA did not affect the phosphorylation of ERK but decreased the phosphorylation of JNK. Finally, H&E staining, serological analysis, TUNEL staining and Western blot confirmed that JNK activator anisomycin could reverse the alleviating effect of SA on IRI in rats. The above findings suggest that SA could alleviate IRI in rats by inhibiting JNK phosphorylation.

Journal of International Oncology 2024;51(5):274-279
Objective:To analyze the relationship between inflammatory burden index (IBI) and the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer. Methods:A total of 180 patients with gastric cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021 were selected as the gastric cancer group, 180 cases of gastric precancerous diseases treated in this hospital during the same period were selected as the precancerous disease group, 180 healthy individuals who underwent physical examinations in this hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. The value of IBI in the diagnosis of gastric cancer was analyzed. The IBI values of the three groups were compared by one-way analysis of variance, and the optimal cut-off values of different indicators were determined by receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve to further evaluate the diagnostic value of IBI for gastric cancer. LASSO regression analysis was performed using the R software package glmnet to screen variables. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis were performed on the screened variables to further determine the independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. Results:The levels of IBI in gastric cancer, precancerous disease, and control group were 46.69±8.38, 35.53±6.11, and 21.47±4.36, respectively, with a statistically significant difference ( F=681.45, P<0.001). Further pairwise comparisons showed that the gastric cancer group was higher than the precancerous disease group and the control group, and the precancerous disease group was higher than the control group, with statistically significant differences ( t=14.43, P<0.001; t=34.15, P<0.001; t=25.13, P<0.001). ROC curve analysis showed that the optimal cut-off value for the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was 3.15 (AUC=0.65, 95% CI: 0.54-0.73), with a specificity of 92.31% and a sensitivity of 43.97%. The optimal cut-off value for the platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) was 137.36 (AUC=0.59, 95% CI: 0.51-0.68), with a specificity of 93.66% and a sensitivity of 34.98%. The optimal cut-off value for lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR) was 5.18 (AUC=0.69, 95% CI: 0.58-0.76), with a specificity of 61.29% and a sensitivity of 73.33%. The optimal cut-off value for panimmune inflammation value (PIV) was 276.57 (AUC=0.73, 95% CI: 0.65-0.78), with a specificity of 78.41% and a sensitivity of 59.77%. The optimal cut-off value for the systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) was 654.37 (AUC=0.73, 95% CI: 0.66-0.78), with a specificity of 86.32% and a sensitivity of 62.11%. The optimal cut-off value for the IBI was 49.12 (AUC=0.82, 95% CI: 0.79-0.92), with a specificity of 85.36% and a sensitivity of 65.82%. LASSO regression analysis showed that there were 8 prognostic variables related to survival, including IBI, T stage, N stage, age, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), SII, PIV, and tumor grade. The results of univariate analysis showed that IBI ( HR=4.57, 95% CI: 3.82-5.32, P<0.001), T stage ( HR=2.54, 95% CI: 1.75-3.31, P<0.001), N stage ( HR=1.69, 95% CI: 1.15-2.21, P=0.032), CEA ( HR=1.38, 95% CI: 1.06-1.75, P=0.032), and tumor grade ( HR=1.87, 95% CI: 1.34-2.59, P=0.026) were prognostic factors for gastric cancer patients. The results of multivariate analysis showed that IBI ( HR=3.96, 95% CI: 3.51-4.48, P<0.001), T stage ( HR=2.31, 95% CI: 1.63-3.02, P=0.023), tumor grade ( HR=1.49, 95% CI: 1.12-1.83, P=0.042) were independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. Compared with low-level IBI gastric cancer patients, the risk of death in high-level IBI patients was up to 3.96 times. Conclusion:IBI may be an important marker for diagnosis and prognosis prediction of gastric cancer, which has certain scientific and clinical value in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.
