Objective:To explore a preliminary method for comprehensive motor function assessment in older adults in order to promote functional maintenance and independent living.Methods:Cross-sectional study.A total of 1, 680 elderly people aged 60 years and above, aged(69.3±6.8)years, were recruited by volunteer recruitment at the Beijing Hospital Physical Examination Centre and Dongcheng District community, and exercise data were collected on 5 sit-ups, 6 m daily stride, 3 m rise and walk, grip strength, back grip test, chair sit forward bending, and three-posture standing, and the method of exercise function assessment was determined by applying statistical analysis combined with expert guidance. Results:Handgrip strength, Five-time-repeated sit-to-stand, usual gait speed, and 3-meter-timed up and go test were selected for motor function assessment(factor loadings: 0.428, 0.767, 0.725, 0.841, respectively). The motor score was calculated by weighted sum of each indicator with the same weight.Through calculating, the motor score significantly decreased with ageing(60-64 years: 13.9, 65-69 years: 13.4, 70-74 years: 12.7, 75-79 years: 11.3, 80+ years: 9.1; F=89.469, P<0.001).Older adults with moderate activities had higher scores than those without moderate activities(13.6 and 12.4, respectively; t=-8.003, P<0.001). Conclusions:A method for motor function assessment in older adults was established, which can be used in the early recognition of motor function impairment, such as sarcopenia, fall, and disability.

Objective To evaluate the contraction function of puborectalis (PR) with shear wave elastography (SWE).Methods Twenty-eight patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP-Q Ⅲ group and POP-Q Ⅳ group, each n=14) and 28 healthy volunteers (control group) were enrolled. The Young's modulus of PR in the front, middle and back of pubic rectal muscles of each group at resting and maximal rectal state were measured with shear wave elastography, and then were statistically analyzed. Results Youngs modulus of maximum rectal state of each group was higher than that of resting state (all P<0.05).At resting and maximal rectal state, the Young's modulus and their differences in POP-Q Ⅲ group and POP-Q Ⅳ group were significantly different compared with control group (all P<0.05),but those in POP-Q Ⅲ group and POP-Q Ⅳ group were not (all P>0.05).Conclusion Decrease of PR systolic function can be observed in patients with pelvic organ prolapse, and SWE can be used to detect abnormal function of PR systolic function.

Objective To investigate the relationship between frailty and serum biomarkers in the elderly. Methods A total of 371 elderly individuals aged 60 years and above with complete medical data were recruited during health examinations. Frailty phenotype assessment and comprehensive geriatric assessment were conducted.Serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6 ) ,high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) ,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) ,homocysteine(Hcy) ,insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1) ,25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D] ,folic acid and vitamin B12(VitB12) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays ( ELISA ) and chemiluminescence immunoassays. Associations between frailty and the above factors were analyzed. Results Serum levels of IL-6 ,TNF-α ,Hcy and IGF-1 were significantly elevated along with progressive increase in frailty severity(all P<0.05).There were a downward trend in serum 25(OH)D levels and an upward trend in serum hs-CRP ,folic acid and VitB12 levels as frailty severity increased ,but the changes did not amount to any statistical significance(all P>0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that ,after adjusting for age ,gender ,body mass index (BMI)and some clinical aspects (hearing loss ,urinary incontinence ,pain ,malnutrition ,cognitive dysfunction ,decreased activities of daily living ,depression , insomnia ,and anemia) ,serum levels of IL-6(OR=1.012 ,95% CI=1.005-2.041 ,P=0.033) ,IGF-1 (OR= 1.017 ,95% CI = 1.011-1.118 ,P= 0.021)and Hcy (OR= 1.007 ,95% CI :1.002-1.073 ,P=0.047)were significantly associated with frailty status. Conclusions Serum levels of IL-6 ,Hcy and IGF-1 are related to frailty status and may be used as potential biomarkers for the assessment of frailty in older adults.

Objective To explore the effect of exogenous hormones on the pelvic floor function in delivery of term pregnancy using transvaginal 3D ultrasound. Methods Ninety puerperae delivered transvaginally were classified into three groups according to exogenous hormones, natural labor group (n =30),oxytocin group (n =30) and prostaglandin E2 group (n=30).Hiatal diameter and area at resting,Valsalva, levator ani muscle maximum contraction states were obtained in hiatal images and were compared among 3 groups in 42 days postpartum. Results There were no significant differences of hiatal diameter and area at resting,Valsalva, levator ani muscle maximum contraction state between natural labor group and oxytocin group (all P>0.05).There were significant differences of hiatal diameter and area at resting,Valsalva, levator ani muscle maximum contraction state between prostaglandin E2 group and natural labor group, oxytocin group (all P <0.05).Conclusion Different exogenous hormones have different effects on the pelvic floor function in delivery of term pregnancy. The injury of the pelvic floor of using prostaglandin E2 is bigger than natural labor and using oxytocin. And the use of exogenous oxytocin is not significant correlated with pelvic floor function injury.
