Methods:
: This study investigated data from the Acute Stroke Assessment Registry. The registry collects data from over 220 hospitals nationwide, focusing on quality stroke service management. Data analysis included patient demographics, stroke severity assessment, and discharge prognosis measurement using standardized scales.
Results:
: Eighty-six thousand five hundred sixty-eight acute stroke patients were collected with demographic and clinical characteristics during 18 months from 2016, 2018, and between 2020 to 2021, focusing on acute subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and acute ischemic stroke. Of these 86568 patients, 8.3% was SAH, 16.3% ICH, and 74.9% ischemic stroke. Trends showed decreasing SAH and increasing ICH cases over the years. 68.3% stroke patients had the clear onset time. 49.6% stroke patients arrived within 4.5 hours of symptom onset, with more patients treated at general hospitals. Good functional outcomes at discharge was obtained with 58.3% of acute stroke patients, 55.9% of SAH patients, 34.6% of ICH patients, and 63.8% of ischemic stroke patients.
Conclusion
: The results showed that ischemic stroke was the most common subtype, followed by ICH and SAH. Prognosis differed among subtypes, with favorable outcomes more common in ischemic stroke and SAH compared to ICH.

5.The Correlation between MMP-9 Point-of-Care Assay and Clinical Symptoms and Signs of Dry Eye Disease

Purpose:
To evaluate the correlation between matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) point-of-assay and clinical symptoms and signs of dry eye disease.
Methods:
We performed a retrospective study for patients diagnosed with dry eye. MMP-9 (InflammaDry) was performed on 235 patients. Patients were assessed using Schirmer test, corneal staining score, tear film breakup time (TBUT) and the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI).
Results:
The score of Schirmer test was lower significantly in MMP-9 positive group than in MMP-9 negative group (for each 4.21 ± 5.80 mm, 5.96 ± 8.14 mm; p = 0.035). TBUT was shorter significantly in MMP-9 positive group than in MMP-9 negative group (for each 5.46 ± 4.06 s, 8.27 ± 4.75 s; p = 0.0008). The ratio of positive corneal stain (for each 83%, 31%) and OSDI even or greater than 13 (for each 80%, 75%) was significantly higher in MMP-9 positive group than in MMP-9 negative group (p = 0.00001, p = 0.0044). The value of MMP-9 point-of-care assay showed showed the negative correlation with Schirmer test (Rs = 0.383, p < 0.001), and TBUT (Rs = 0.310, p < 0.05), and showed the positive correlation with corneal staining score (Rs = 0.527, p < 0.001), OSDI (Rs = 0.510, p < 0.001).
Conclusions
MMP-9 point-of-assay accords with clinical symptoms and signs of Dry eye disease, and may be helpful in diagnosing Dry eye disease.
6.Surface characteristics of plasma electrolytic oxidized Ti-mesh for dental use

In this study, surface characteristics of plasma electrolytic oxidized Ti-mesh for dental use were studied using various experimental instruments. The titanium mesh was used as a substrate for PEO. Using a pulsed DC power supply, PEO treatment was carried out at 280 V for 3 min in the electrolytic solution containing Ca, Mg, and P ions. And the electrolyte used for PEO was prepared by mixing with Ca(CH 3COO)2·H 2O, C 3H 7CaO 6P, and (CH 3COO) 2Mg·4H 2O. The PEO-treated surface was observed by using X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and nanoindentation tester.PEO-treated Ti-mesh in solution containing Ca, Mg, and P ions (CaMgP) sample showed the active spark discharge reaction compared to in solution containing Ca and P ions (CaP) sample. In CaP and CaMgP samples, the PEO surface of Ti-mesh showed mainly circular, irregular, and oval shapes of pores. In the case of CaMgP, the defects and precipitates such as MgO were formed on the surface. On the sample surface, the distribution of the desired element was detected homogeneously.The PEO-treated CaP and CaMgP specimens were mainly composed of anatase, Mg, and hydroxyapatite. From the AFM result, the average roughness was 0.247 µm for CaP and 0.226 µm for CaMgP, respectively. The hardness of CaMgP containing Mg ions was increased compared to CaP containing without Mg ions, also, the elastic modulus of CaMgP sample was higher than that of CaP sample.
7.CT Findings of Granulomatous Pneumocystis jiroveci Pneumonia in a Patient with Multiple Myeloma

Although the typical CT findings of Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia (PJP) include diffuse or multifocal areas of ground-glass opacities in both lungs, it can also rarely manifest as multiple pulmonary nodules. We report a rare case of atypical PJP in an immunocompromised patient with multiple myeloma, presenting as widespread ground-glass opacities and multiple necrotic subpleural nodules in both lungs on CT, which proved to be granulomatous PJP on percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy.
8.Characteristics of Pediatric Spinal Cord Injury in South Korea: A Single-Centered Study

Objective:
To determine the characteristics of pediatric spinal cord injury (SCI) in South Korea from 1990 to 2019.
Methods:
This single-centered retrospective study included pediatric SCIs. Individuals were divided into the following five groups according to onset age: ≤5, 6–12, 13–14, 15–17, and 18–19 years. The severity of complete injury was graded according to the American Spinal Injury Association impairment scale A (AIS A). Incomplete injury was graded according to AIS B, C, and D. Pearson chi-square test was used for statistical analysis.
Results:
Of the 267 individuals included, 216 (80.9%) had traumatic SCIs (male-to-female ratio of 3.2:1), and 51 (19.1%) had non-traumatic SCIs (male-to-female ratio of 0.7:1). In the traumatic SCI group, 192 (88.9%) individuals were ≥15 years at the time of injury (males, 78.6%). The most common etiologies of traumatic SCIs, ranging from most to least common, were accidents related to motorcycles, falls, cars, and diving. In the non-traumatic SCI group, inflammatory (33.3%) and neoplastic (25.5%) etiologies were found to be the most common ones.
Conclusion
We found that traumatic SCIs incidence in the pediatric population was high, particularly in male individuals aged 15–19 years. The non-traumatic SCIs mostly cause paraplegia and incomplete injury. Therefore, it can be used as a basic data for the evaluation, treatment and prevention strategy of pediatric patients with SCI.
9.The Relationship between Mother’s Smartphone Addiction and Children’s Smartphone Usage

Objective:
As smartphone use is becoming more common, the age of initial exposure to devices is becoming younger. Young children’s screen use is influenced by various factors; it is more directly dependent on family environment than school-aged children. Our study aimed to examine the effect of mother’s smartphone addition on their child’s smartphone use.
Methods:
Participants were from the Kids Cohort for Understanding of internet addiction Risk factors in early childhood (K-CURE) study. Adult smartphone addiction self-diagnosis scale was used to evaluate smartphone addiction degree of mother. Child’s smartphone use was assessed by parental questionnaire. Using logistic regression analysis, we examine the association between mother’s smartphone addiction and child’s smartphone use.
Results:
After adjusting for other factors, mother’s smartphone addiction is related with early smartphone exposure of children. Highrisk group’s children was exposed to smartphone earlier than low risk group (adjusted OR, 0.418; p=0.021). Contrary to expectation, there is no correlation between mother’s smartphone addiction and child’s smartphone use time.
Conclusion
Our study explain that mother’s smartphone addiction can affect early smartphone exposure on children. Based on our findings, further study might explore the effect of early smartphone exposure on children.
10.Isotretinoin exposure in pregnant women in Korea.

OBJECTIVE: Isotretinoin is a notorious teratogen otherwise used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Some countries, including those in North America and the European Union, implemented the pregnancy prevention program (PPP); however, no PPP has yet been established in South Korea. So the aim of this study was to evaluate the rate of pregnant women exposed to isotretinoin among the callers of the Korean Mother Safe Counseling Center. METHODS: This is a prospective cohort study. We evaluated the demographic characteristics, obstetric history, and isotretinoin exposure of pregnant women based on the mother safe registry from April 2010 to July 2016. RESULTS: Among 22,374 callers, 650 (2.9%) pregnant women were exposed to isotretinoin. The mean age was 29.0±4.4 years in the isotretinoin-exposed group and 32.0±4.2 years in the unexposed group (P < 0.001). Moreover, the incidence of pregnancies within 30 days after isotretinoin discontinuation or during isotretinoin intake was 78.9% (513/650). The median duration of isotretinoin exposure was 18 (1–4,231) days. Furthermore, from 2011 to 2015, the incidence of isotretinoin exposure was 2.9±1.2 pregnancies per 10,000 births in South Korea. CONCLUSION: Approximately 80% of pregnant women are exposed to isotretinoin within the recommended 30 days of contraception or during pregnancy. Therefore, the PPP has to be established in South Korea.
