1.Effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on post-traumatic stress symptoms among post-earthquake adolescents

BackgroundPost-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) is highly prevalent in adolescents who have experienced earthquake, which seriously threatens their physical and mental health, yet there is currently a lack of research on the effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ObjectiveTo assess the PTSS among adolescents experiencing MS6.0 Luxian, Sichuan, earthquake on 16 September 2021, and to investigate the effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on PTSS, so as to provide references for the intervention of PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. MethodsOn November 12, 2021, simple random sampling technique was used to select 2 522 post-earthquake adolescents in Luxian county of Luzhou city in Sichuan province. All subjects were assessed using Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Short-form UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS-3) and Social Media Use Scale (SM-10). Binary Logistic regression was used to determine the factors influencing PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ResultsPTSS was detected in 91 (3.61%) adolescents. Binary Logistic regression revealed that perceived social support from family members (OR=0.926, 95% CI: 0.879~0.976) was a protective factor for PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. Lack of companionship (OR=1.764, 95% CI: 1.141~2.727), feeling isolated (OR=2.037, 95% CI: 1.282~3.236), and viewing negative emotional response of disaster victims through social media (OR=1.615, 95% CI: 1.291~2.020) were risk factors for PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ConclusionLack of companionship, feeling isolated, and viewing negative emotional response of disaster victims through social media pose a negative impact on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents, while perceived social support from family members exert a positive impact on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. 2.Tojapride Reverses Esophageal Epithelial Inflammatory Responses on Reflux Esophagitis Model Rats.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the mechanism of Tojapride, a Chinese herbal formula extract, on strengthening the barrier function of esophageal epithelium in rats with reflux esophagitis (RE).
METHODS:
Ten out of 85 SD rats were randomly selected as the sham group (n10), and 75 rats were developed a reflux esophagitis model (RE) by the esophageal and duodenal side-to-side anastomosis. Fifty successful modeling rats were divided into different medicated groups through a random number table including the model, low-, medium-, and high-dose of Tojapride as well as omeprazole groups (n10). Three doses of Tojapride [5.73, 11.46, 22.92 g/(kg•d)] and omeprazole [4.17 mg/(kg•d)] were administrated intragastrically twice daily for 3 weeks. And the rats in the sham and model groups were administered 10 mL/kg distilled water. Gastric fluid was collected and the supernatant was kept to measure for volume, pH value and acidity. Esophageal tissues were isolated to monitor the morphological changes through hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, and esophageal epithelial ultrastructure was observed by transmission electron microscopy. The expressions of nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells p65 (NF-KBp65), κB kinase beta (IKKß), occludin, and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) in the esophageal tissues were measured by immunohistochemistry and Western blot, respectively.
RESULTS:
The gastric pH value in the model group was significantly lower than the sham group (P<0.05). Compared with the model group, gastric pH value in the omeprazole and medium-dose of Tojapride groups were significantly higher (P<0.05). A large area of ulceration was found on the esophageal mucosa from the model rats, while varying degrees of congestion and partially visible erosion was observed in the remaining groups. Remarkable increase in cell gap width and decrease in desmosome count was seen in RE rats and the effect was reversed by Tojapride treatment. Compared with the sham group, the IKKß levels were significantly higher in the model group (P<0.05). However, the IKKß levels were down-regulated after treatment by all doses of Tojapride (P<0.01 or P<0.05). The occluding and ZO-1 levels decreased in the model group compared with the sham group (Ps0.01 or Ps0.05), while both indices were significantly up-regulated in the Tojapride-treated groups (P<0.01 or P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Tojapride could improve the pathological conditions of esophageal epithelium in RE rats. The underlying mechanisms may involve in down-regulating the IKKß expression and elevating ZO-1 and occludin expression, thereby alleviating the inflammation of the esophagus and strengthening the barrier function of the esophageal epithelium.
4.Role of Regional Network Management System in Disability Prevention for Newborn High-risk Infants

Objective:To explore the feasibility of establishing a regional network management system to prevent and control the disability in high-risk infants. Methods:From July, 2015 to June, 2016, 1252 type B high-risk infants who born alive and registered in Lianyungang were divided into control group and experimental group by receiving network management system or not. The network high-risk infants management system was used to monitor the growth, diagnosis and early intervention of high-risk infants in the experimental group, while the control group was managed in the conventional way. A comprehensive physical examination and systematic assessment of 940 high-risk infants finally were conducted after two years. Their parents' compliance, developmental state, degree of dysplasia and function of dysplastic child were compared. 5.Prediction of fatal adverse prognosis in patients with fever-related diseases based on machine learning: a retrospective study

Background::Fever is the most common chief complaint of emergency patients. Early identification of patients at an increasing risk of death may avert adverse outcomes. The aim of this study was to establish an early prediction model of fatal adverse prognosis of fever patients by extracting key indicators using big data technology.Methods::A retrospective study of patients’ data was conducted using the Emergency Rescue Database of Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital. Patients were divided into the fatal adverse prognosis group and the good prognosis group. The commonly used clinical indicators were compared. Recursive feature elimination method was used to determine the optimal number of the included variables. In the training model, logistic regression, random forest, adaboost, and bagging were selected. We also collected the emergency room data from December 2018 to December 2019 with the same inclusion and exclusion criterion. The performance of the model was evaluated by accuracy, F1-score, precision, sensitivity, and the areas under receiver operator characteristic curves (ROC-AUC).Results::The accuracy of logistic regression, decision tree, adaboost and bagging was 0.951, 0.928, 0.924, and 0.924, F1-scores were 0.938, 0.933, 0.930, and 0.930, the precision was 0.943, 0.938, 0.937, and 0.937, ROC-AUC were 0.808, 0.738, 0.736, and 0.885, respectively. ROC-AUC of ten-fold cross-validation in logistic and bagging models were 0.80 and 0.87, respectively. The top six coefficients and odds ratio (OR) values of the variables in the logistic regression were cardiac troponin T (CTnT) (coefficient = 0.346, OR = 1.413), temperature (T) (coefficient = 0.235, OR = 1.265), respiratory rate (RR) (coefficient= –0.206, OR = 0.814), serum kalium (K) (coefficient = 0.137, OR = 1.146), pulse oxygen saturation (SPO 2) (coefficient = –0.101, OR = 0.904), and albumin (ALB) (coefficient = –0.043, OR = 0.958). The weights of the top six variables in the bagging model were: CTnT, RR, lactate dehydrogenase, serum amylase, heart rate, and systolic blood pressure. Conclusions::The main clinical indicators of concern included CTnT, RR, SPO 2, T, ALB, and K. The bagging model and logistic regression model had better diagnostic performance comprehesively. Those may be conducive to the early identification of critical patients with fever by physicians.
6.Comparing the antibody titers of sequential program of Sabin strain-based inactivated poliovirus vaccine followed by bivalent types 1 and 3 oral poliovirus vaccine in different dosage forms

Objective To evaluate the antibody titer distributions after primary vaccination by different sequential schedules of Sabin strain-based inactivated poliovirus vaccine(sIPV) and bivalent oral attenuated live poliomyelitis vaccine against types 1 and 3 (bOPV) in Drug Candy(DC) form or liquid dosage form. Methods Eligible infants of 2 months old selected in Liuzhou were assigned randomly in a ratio of 1:1:1:1 to 4 groups as following: sIPV+2bOPV(DC), sIPV+2bOPV(liquid), 2sIPV+bOPV(DC), 2sIPV+bOPV(liquid), and were vaccinated at 0, 28, 56 days. Polio neutralizing antibody titers against poliovirus types 1, 2 and 3 were tested prior to Dose 1 and at 28 days after Dose 3. Results The antibody titer distribution for type 1 was statistically different between sIPV+2bOPV(DC) and sIPV+2bOPV(liquid) (Z=-2.589, P=0.010) while no significant differences were detected between the two groups for type 2(Z=-0.331, P=0.741) and type 3(Z=-1.556, P=0.120). There were no significant differences between 2sIPV +bOPV(DC) and 2sIPV+bOPV(liquid) for the distributions(All P>0.05) (type 1: Z=-1.249, P=0.212; type 2: Z=-1.658, P=0.097; type 3: Z=-1.436, P=0.151). In the same dosage forms with different sequential schedules, the antibody titer distributions were significantly different between 2 doses sIPV and 1 dose sIPV groups(All P<0.05)(sIPV+2bOPV(liquid) vs 2sIPV+bOPV(liquid): type 1: Z=-2.766, P=0.006; type 2: Z=-9.137, P<0.001; type 3: Z=-5.529, P<0.001. sIPV+2bOPV(DC) vs 2sIPV+bOPV(DC): type 1: Z=-3.748, P<0.001; type 2: Z=-7.660, P<0.001; type 3: Z=-6.030, P<0.001). Conclusions Different dosage forms have similar immune effects, so appropriate dosage forms should be selected for vaccination according to the effectiveness, characteristics of subjects and the population density. In the case of sufficient supply of sIPV, 2 doses sIPV sequential program should be the first choice to complete the primary immunization.
7.Combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker improved the quality of life in patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor: a clinical observation.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effect of combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker on the quality of life (QOL) including appetite, defecation, and sleep in patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor.
METHODSTotally 147 patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor were assigned to 4 groups according to different treatment methods, i.e., the supportive treatment group (A, 20 cases), the acupressure treatment group (B, 41 cases), the magnetic sticker treatment group (C, 40 cases), and a combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker treatment group (D, 46 cases). They were respectively treated with different methods, supportive treatment for group A, acupressure for group B, magnetic sticker for group C, and a combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker for group D. The scores of food intake, defecation frequency, sleep time, Karnofsky, and QOL were compared before treatment and at day 14 after treatment.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the scores of food intake, defecation frequency, and sleep time were obviously improved in B, C and D groups (P < 0.01). There was statistical difference between group D and group A (P < 0.01). In addition, in comparison with A group, both Karnofsky score and QOL score increased in B, C and D groups (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe assisted therapy of the combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker could ameliorate QOL such as the digestive functions and sleep in patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor.

BACKGROUNDMeningioma is one of the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system, but there are not many detailed studies on the sex, age, subtypes and locations of large series. This study was a retrospective analysis of the characteristics of meningioma cases consecutively operated on at a single institution in China from 2001 to 2010.
METHODSThis study investigated the demographic background of 7084 meningioma cases, and the subtypes and locations of the tumors. Sex and age distributions were analyzed, and the pathological subtypes were classified according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification. The location of the meningiomas was also categorized.
RESULTSThe female:male ratio of the 7084 cases was 2.34:1. The mean age was 51.4 years (range, 11 months-86 years). The mean age of cases of WHO grade I meningioma was significantly older than that of grade II or III meningiomas (P < 0.001, Fisher's Least Significant Digit test). There was a significantly higher female:male ratio in WHO grade I meningiomas than in grade II or grade III meningiomas (2.57, 1.03 and 0.76, respectively; P < 0.001, χ(2) test). Meningothelial (n = 2061) and fibrous meningiomas (n = 3556) were the most common subtypes, comprising 79.3% of all meningiomas. All meningioma cases were classified into 23 locations in this study, with the cerebral convexity the most common site (38.33%, n = 2722). Cases with uncommon locations such as extra-cranial and sylvian fissure meningiomas were also present in this series.
CONCLUSIONSFemale predominance was found for benign meningiomas, while malignant subtypes showed male predominance. The mean age of patients with WHO grade I meningiomas was older than that of patients with higher-grade tumors. Meningothelial and fibrous meningiomas were the most common subtypes. The cerebral convexity was the most common meningioma location.

10.Prophylactic effect of rhubarb on severe brain injury induced stress ulcer in rats

Objective To explore the mechanism of stress ulcer induced by severe brain injury and prophylactic effect of rhubarb on this stress ulcer in rats. Methods Forty adult male SD rats were equally randomized into sham-operated group, model group, rhubarb treatment group and omeprazole treatment group (n=10). Rat models of craniocerebral injury in the later 3 groups were established according to modifiod Feeney's method; and then, rhubarb in a suspension manner was given by way of ig into the rhubarb treatment group and omeprazole was given orally to rats in the omeprazole treatment group. The neurological severity scale (NSS) was performed 2, 6 and 24 h after the brain injury. The gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF) was measured by probe test with laser Joppler flowmetry; thickness of the slime layer was measured; pathological changes of mucous mermbrane were observed by HE staining and the ulcer index was calculated 24 h after the brain injury. Results As compared with the sham-operated group, the other 3 groups enjoyed significantly lower scores of NSS (P<0.05). Thickness of the slime layer and GMBF in the rhubarb and omeprazole treatment groups were obviously increased,and ulcer index in them was obviously decreased as compared with those in the model group (P<0.05);the levels of thickness of the slime layer and GMBF in the rhubarb treatment group were significantly higher than those in the omeprazole treatment group (P<0.05). The scores of NSS, thickness of the slime layer and GMBF were negatively correlated to the ulcer index(r=-0.429, P=0.002; r=-0.542, P=0.013;r=-0.465, P=0.024). Positive correlation was noted between thickness of the slime layer and GMBF(r=0.680, P=0.001). Conclusion Prophylactic effect ofrhubarb on severe brain injury induced stress ulcer is noted in rats. But the rhubarb may neither reduce the mucus secretion nor improve the scores of behavioral evaluation in a short term.
