Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive treatment modality used as an alternative to surgery in patients with benign thyroid nodules, recurrent thyroid cancers (RTCs), and primary thyroid microcarcinomas. The Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology (KSThR) initially developed recommendations for the optimal use of RFA for thyroid tumors in 2009 and revised them in 2012 and 2017. As new meaningful evidence has accumulated since 2017 and in response to a growing global interest in the use of RFA for treating malignant thyroid lesions, the task force committee members of the KSThR decided to update the guidelines on the use of RFA for the management of RTCs based on a comprehensive analysis of current literature and expert consensus.

7.Factors associated with cervical cancer screening behaviors among young married female (aged 20-29) immigrants in South Korea

Objective:
To identify factors that affect the participation of female immigrants in their 20s in the national cervical cancer screening programs.
Methods:
Data were obtained from the National Health Insurance Services from 2016 to 2017. A total of 17,730 women who agreed to undergo cervical cancer screening during 2016-2017 were included in the study.
Results:
Of the 17,730 women, 8,149 (46%) participated in cervical cancer screening, whereas, 9,581 (54%) did not. Logistic regression analysis of factors related to cervical cancer screening showed that the odds ratio (OR) of screening was higher in short duration of stay (OR, 1.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.03-1.35), Chinese nationality (OR, 1.43; 95% CI, 1.28-1.59), unemployment (OR, 1; 95% CI, reference), participation in general health screening (OR, 4.16; 95% CI, 3.24-5.33), and comorbidities (OR, 1.16; 95% CI, 1.09-1.24) when compared to the other populations. The highest OR was associated with participation in general health screening.
Conclusion
Appropriate programs should be developed to increase participation of socially vulnerable groups in cervical cancer screening. Such programs will improve awareness regarding cervical cancer screening and reduce disparities in healthcare.
8.First female Korean child with Coffin-Lowry syndrome: a novel variant in RPS6KA3 diagnosed by exome sequencing and a literature review

Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS, OMIM # 303600) is a rare X-linked disorder caused by mutations in RPS6KA3. CLS is characterized by facial dysmorphism, digit abnormalities, developmental delays, growth retardation, and progressive skeletal changes in male patients. Females with CLS are variably affected, complicating diagnosis. Here, we describe the clinical and molecular findings in a female Korean child with CLS and review the associated literature. A 5-year-old girl presented with short stature and developmental delays. She had a coarse facial appearance characterized by a prominent forehead, hypertelorism, thick lips, and hypodontia. She also had puffy tapering fingers and pectus excavatum. We performed exome sequencing and identified a novel, likely pathogenic, heterozygous variant, c.326_338delinsCTCGAGAC (p.Val109Alafs*10), in RPS6KA3 (NM_004586.2). This is the first Korean female genetically diagnosed with CLS. In contrast to the delayed bone age reported in previous studies, our patient showed advanced bone age and central precocious puberty. CLS should be considered as a differential diagnosis of short stature, tapering fingers, and developmental delay. We suggest that molecular techniques can be a useful tool for diagnosis of rare disorders such as CLS because such conditions are not simple, and the associated spectrum of phenotypes can vary.
9.Association Between Female Bony Pelvimetry Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Cesarean Delivery due to Cephalopelvic Disproportion

Purpose:
To analyze the difference in bony pelvimetry using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in women who delivered vaginally and those who underwent cesarean section (CS) due to cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD).
Methods:
This retrospective case-control study enrolled Korean women who gave birth to their first child between 37 and 42 weeks of pregnancy and underwent pelvic MRI between January 2014 and June 2020. These women were classified into 3 groups: vaginal delivery (VD), CS due to CPD (CPD-CS), and CS due to reasons other than CPD (Other-CS). In MRI images, true conjugate (TC), obstetric conjugate (OC), mid anterior-posterior (AP) distance (MAD), outlet AP distance (OAD), ischial spine distance (ISD), ischial tuberosity distance (ITD), and pubic angle (PA) were measured.
Results:
In total, 392 women were enrolled. There were no significant differences in maternal height and body mass index at birth among the 3 groups. The ISD was statistically different between the VD group (106.2±6.4 mm) and the Other-CS group (110.4±8.8 mm) (p=0.014). After multiple regression analysis, short ISD (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 0.92; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.87-0.97; p=0.002), short MAD (aOR, 0.95; 95% CI, 0.89-0.99; p=0.047), and short ITD (aOR, 0.95; 95% CI, 0.91-0.99; p=0.019) were significantly associated with CS due to CPD.
Conclusion
Short ISD, MAD, and ITD, measured using MRI, are important parameters that can predict CS due to CPD. The accumulation of related research could promote the development of an excellent imaging method in terms of cost-effectiveness. Thus, it may be possible to establish a method to reduce obstetric and perinatal complications due to dystonia.
10.Association Between Clinical Burden and Blood Eosinophil Counts in Asthma: Findings From a Korean Adult Asthma Cohort

Background:
Some reports have suggested that the clinical and economic burdens of asthma are associated with blood eosinophil levels. The association between clinical burden and blood eosinophil counts were evaluated in a Korean adult asthma cohort.
Methods:
Clinical information including blood eosinophil counts that were not affected by systemic corticosteroids were extracted from the Cohort for Reality and Evolution of Adult Asthma in Korea database. Clinical burden was defined as 1) asthma control status, 2) medication demand and 3) acute exacerbation (AE) events during 1 consecutive year after enrollment. All patients were divided into atopic and non-atopic asthmatics. The associations between asthma outcomes and the blood eosinophil count were evaluated.
Results:
In total, 302 patients (124 atopic and 178 non-atopic asthmatics) were enrolled. In all asthmatics, the risk of severe AE was higher in patients with blood eosinophil levels < 100 cells/µL than in patients with levels ≥ 100 cells/µL (odds ratio [OR], 5.406; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.266–23.078; adjusted P = 0.023). Among atopic asthmatics, the risk of moderate AE was higher in patients with blood eosinophil levels ≥ 300 cells/µL than in patients with levels < 300 cells/µL (OR, 3.558; 95% CI, 1.083–11.686; adjusted P = 0.036). Among non-atopic asthmatics, the risk of medication of Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) steps 4 or 5 was higher in patients with high blood eosinophil levels than in patients with low blood eosinophil levels at cutoffs of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 cells/µL.
Conclusion
The baseline blood eosinophil count may predict the future clinical burden of asthma.
