ObjectiveTo investigate the effect and mechanism of Nongsuo Dangguiwan in improving ovarian oxidative stress in rats with ovarian dysfunction. MethodThirty-six adult female SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, positive drug group (Femoston, 0.3 mg·kg-1), and high-, medium-, and low-dose groups of concentrated Nongsuo Dangguiwan (2.08, 4.16, 8.32 g·kg-1), with six rats in each group. Rats, except for those in the normal group, were injected with 80 mg·kg-1 vinyl cyclohexene dioxide (VCD) per day for 14 consecutive days to induce ovarian dysfunction. From the 15th day, rats were treated with corresponding drugs by gavage, while those in the model group received 2 mL·kg-1 saline, once daily for 28 consecutive days. The ovarian index, levels of related hormones including estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) in serum, as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and glutathione (GSH) content in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The malondialdehyde (MDA) content in serum was detected by the thiobarbituric acid (TAB) method. Ovarian morphology was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The expression of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), SOD2, and SOD1 in ovarian tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western blot. ResultCompared with the normal group, the model group showed a significant reduction in growing follicles in the ovary, loose arrangement of granulosa cells in the follicle, decreased body weight, ovarian index, and serum AMH and E2 levels, increased LH and FSH levels (P<0.01), reduced levels of SOD and GSH in serum (P<0.01), and increased MDA level (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the groups with drug intervention showed increased ovarian index (P<0.05, P<0.01), increased serum E2 level (P<0.05, P<0.01), decreased FSH, AMH, and LH levels (P<0.05, P<0.01), increased number of growing follicles in the ovary, potentiated SOD activity in serum, increased GSH content, decreased MDA content (P<0.05, P<0.01), and up-regulated expression levels of Nrf2, HO-1, SOD2, and SOD1 proteins in ovarian tissues (P<0.05, P<0.01). ConclusionNongsuo Dangguiwan can regulate serum hormone levels, increase the expression of Nrf2, HO-1, SOD2, and SOD1 in ovarian tissues, and improve ovarian antioxidant capacity to resist oxidative stress injury, thereby improving ovarian reserve function.

OBJECTIVES:
This study aimed to investigate the accuracy of model superimposition and automatic analysis for upper and lower dentition widths in iTero Progress Assessment during the clear aligner process.
METHODS:
Nineteen cases were included in this retrospective case control study. Pretreatment dental cast (T0) and post treatment dental cast after staged treatment (T1) were available for three-dimensional (3D) model superimposition. The movements of maxillary teeth in the horizontal plane (cross section) after staged treatment and the widths of upper and lower dentitions were measured by 3D model superimposition in real world and iTero Progress Assessment. The data collected from the two methods were compared.
RESULTS:
The movements [Median (upper and lower quartiles)] of maxillary teeth in the horizontal plane after staged treatment were 2.31 (1.59, 3.22) and 1.79 (1.21, 3.03) mm in iTero Progress Assessment and 3D model analysis, respectively. Significant difference was observed between the two groups (P<0.05). In the measurement of upper and lower dentition width, four indicators were measured, including intercanine width upper, intermolar width upper, intercanine width lower, and intermolar width lower. Before treatment, the measurement of iTero Progress Assessment were (35.78±2.49), (56.21±2.51), (27.43±1.38), (52.26±2.91) mm, respectively, and actual measurement were (35.77±2.53), (56.17±2.47), (27.40±1.41), (52.30±2.86) mm, respectively, without significant difference (P>0.05). After stage treatment, the measurement of iTero Progress Assessment were (37.37±2.86), (57.76±2.56), (28.89±2.00), (54.16±2.19) mm, respectively, and actual measurement were (37.29±2.94), (57.71±2.63), (28.88±2.05), (54.01±2.15) mm, respectively, and there was no significant difference (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
The data from iTero Progress Assessment did not coincide with the model superimposition results with palate as reference. The accuracy of model superimposition in iTero Progress Assessment needs further investigation, whereas the arch width analysis is accurate. Therefore, iTero Progress Assessment results should be interpreted with caution by orthodontists in clinical applications.

Objective To explore the relationship and its mechanism of emphysema induced by different ways of rearing and tobacco smoke exposure with the atherosclerosis formation. Methods Forty-eight SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (n= 8 ,each):a normal diet + tobacco smoke exposure (TSE) group ,a fat-rich diet + TSE group ,a limit intake + TSE group ,a normal diet group ,a fat-rich diet group ,and a limit intake group for 24 weeks. Lee's index ,serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) ,interleukin-6 (IL-6 ) ,adiponectin (APN ) levels ,mean linear intercept (MLI) ,mean alveoli number (MAN) ,the aortic pathology change ,vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) of aorta ,and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) level were collected. Results Tobacco smoke exposure ,fat-rich diet ,and limit intake increased the severity of emphysema. The microscopic features of aorta showed an early atherosclerosis in the tobacco smoke exposure groups , but no atherosclerosis in the non-smoking groups. Interactions between tobacco smoke exposure and different ways of rearing on serum APN level (F= 10.68 ,P< 0.05) were found. In the tobacco smoke exposure groups ,Pearson correlation analysis showed positive correlations of aortic VEGF and BMP-2 levels with MLI ,serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels (r= 0.431 ,0.471 ,0 ,448 ,0.449 ,0.428 , 0.447 ,all P<0.05) ,and an negative correlation with MAN (r= -0.411 ,-0.442 ,P<0.05). Conclusions Both tobacco smoke exposure and different ways of rearing can influence the formation of emphysema. There is a positive correlation between the severities of emphysema and atherosclerosis , and systemic inflammation may be involved.
