Pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 has seriously threatened human life and health worldwide and caused a large number of deaths. Viral infection and acute inflammation are important causes of death, so it is particularly important to combine antiviral therapy with anti-inflammatory therapy. Glycyrrhizic acid, the main component of the glycyrrhizic root extract, has a wide range of pharmacological effects as well as high efficiency and low toxicity, its preparation has been widely used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis and other diseases. Glycyrrhizic acid can regulate the expression and release of a variety of cytokines and play a significant anti-inflammatory effect. At the same time, glycyrrhizic acid also showed significant inhibition towards a variety types of viruses. Therefore, the potential application of glycyrrhizic acid as COVID-19 treatment should be explored.

To understand the family sex education for young children in rural areas of Sichuan province and analyze the influencing factors. A multi-stage random sampling method was used to select 2246 parents of kindergarten children from rural areas in Sichuan province for a questionnaire-based survey. The Chi-square test and Logistic regression model were used for data analysis. It was found 1132(52.33%)parents had implemented family sex education for young children and 1031(47.67%)had not.Young children having asked sex-related questions(=1.536,95%=1.257-1.878),parents thinking that early childhood sex education is necessary(=3.691,95%=2.029-6.717),and parents having the intention to know early childhood sex education(=1.700,95%=1.274-2.269),and kindergarten having implemented early childhood sex education(=3.316,95%=2.515-4.372)were promoting factors for parents to conduct early childhood sex education, whereas a total annual household income at the middle level(=0.664,95%=0.456-0.968)was a hindering factor for parents to conduct early childhood sex education. Parents of young children in rural areas of Sichuan province have poor awareness of sex education, and the proportion of parents who have never conducted sex education for children is high. The total annual income of the family, whether the children have asked about sex-related questions, parents' attitude towards early childhood sex education, and whether the kindergarten has conducted the early childhood sex education are important factors that influence the level of children's family sex education.

To investigate the mental health status of the floating population in Chengdu and explore its influencing factors. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted on non-Chengdu household workers over 16 years old in four directions(east, south, west, and north)of Chengdu from June 2017 to June 2018 to collect their social demographic characteristics and mental health status information through respondent driven sampling method. The 12-item general health questionnaire(GHQ-12) was used to assess the mental health status of the respondents, and a multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of mental health. The average score of GHQ-12 was(1.09±1.61)and the detection rate of mental problems was 7.11%.The main mental problems were anxiety and nervousness.Multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that over 55 years old(=0.425,95%=0.213-0.847),junior middle school education(=0.541,95%=0.356-0.824),length of residence ≥5 years(5-9 years:=0.603,95%=0.394-0.923;≥10 years:=0.534,95%=0.346-0.823),annual income ≥18 000 yuan(18 000-35 999 yuan:=0.524,95%=0.328-0.836;36 000-59 999 yuan:=0.327,95%=0.190-0.565;≥60 000 yuan: =0.356,95%=0.192-0.662),and a good relationship with employers(=0.519,95%=0.363-0.742)were the protective factors for the mental health.Divorce/widowhood(=2.351,95%=1.341-4.124),plan to return hometown after 5 years(=1.805,95%=1.084-3.006)and not yet consideration of leaving Chengdu(=1.844,95%=1.269-2.681)were the risk factors. The mental health of the floating population in Chengdu is generally good. However, floating individuals with poor marital status and/or poor sense of belonging to Chengdu are at higher risk of mental problems. The local government should formulate and improve the policies and measures related to social welfare and public services for the floating population and try to enhance their urban integration and sense of belonging, thus improving their mental health.

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2019;35(4):339-345
OBJECTIVE:
To understand and analyze the rules of endurance exercise on the cerebral cortex adaptive mechanism in aged rats.
METHODS:
In this study, 3-month-old (n=20), 13-month-old (n=24) and 23-month-old (n=24) specific-pathogen free (SPF) male Sprague-Dawley Rat (SD) rats were divided into young (Y-SED), middle-aged (M-SED) and old-aged (O-SED) sedentary control group, and the corresponding Y-EX, M-EX and O-EX in the endurance exercise runner group. The 10-weeks of regular moderate-intensity aerobic exercise intervention were carried out in the endurance exercise runner group. The exercise mode is treadmill exercise (slope 0), and the exercise intensity gradually increases from 60%~65% of the maximum oxygen consumption (V·O) to 70%~75%, and the exercise time is 10 weeks. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining was used to detect age-related morphological changes. The expressions of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and the expressions of synapsin 1 (SYN1) and Ca/calmodulin- dependent protein kinases IIα (CaMK IIα) / AMP-activated protein kinase α1(AMPKα1) / mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway -related genes were detected.
RESULTS:
The cerebral cortex structure of the rats in each group showed age-related aging changes, the expression of SOD in the cortex showed a gradual decline, the expression of BDNF showed an age-increasing trend, and the expression levels of SYN1 and CaMK IIα were increased with age. The changes in AMPKα1 and SirT2 and IP3R, AKT1 and mTOR mRNA levels were increased slightly in middle-aged rats and decreased in aged rats. Compared with the rats in each sedentary control group, the nucleus of the cerebral cortex was tightly arranged and the number of nuclei observed under the microscope was increased significantly in each exercise group. Exercise promoted the expressions of SOD, BDNF and synaptophysin SYN1 in the cortex of rats, and the expression levels of SOD and BDNF in aged rats were up-regulated significantly (P< 0.01). The expression level of SYN1 in rats was up-regulated significantly (P<0.05) in the young and aged rats. The expression of CaMK IIα in the cortex of middle-aged and aged rats was up-regulated (P<0.01), while the expression level of CaMK IIα in young rats was down-regulated (P<0.01). Exercise could up-regulate the expression level of AMPKα1 in the cortex of young rats (P< 0.05), but not in middle-aged and old-age rats. Exercise could up-regulate the expression of SirT2 in the cortex of rats in all age groups (P<0.05). Exercise up-regulated the expression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (IP3R)/ protein kinase B 1(AKT1) /mTOR in the cortex of rats, among which young IP3R was significantly up-regulated (P<0.01) in the young group, mTOR was significantly up-regulated in young and middle-aged group (P<0.01), and mTOR was also significantly up-regulated in the aged group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
Endurance exercise up-regulates BDNF expression, regulates CaMKIIα signaling, activates AMPK signaling pathway and IP3R / AKT1 / mTOR signaling pathway, and improves synaptic plasticity in the cortex.

OBJECTIVETo investigate genetic and antibiotic resistance characteristics of Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni) isolated from Shenzhen.
METHODSMultilocs sequence typing and agar dilution methods were used to define the genotype and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni, respectively.
RESULTSIn total, 126 C. jejuni strains were isolated. The prevalence of C. jejuni was 5.3% in diarrheal patients. The prevalence in poultry meat (36.5%) was higher than that in cattle meat (1.1%). However, the prevalence in poultry cloacal swabs (27.0%) was lower than that in cattle stool (57.3%). Sixty-two sequence types were obtained, among which 27 of the STs and 10 alleles were previously unreported. The most frequently observed clonal complexes were ST 21 (11.9%), ST-22 (10.3%), and ST-403 (7.1%). ST-21, ST-45, ST-354, ST-403, and ST-443 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and cattle, whereas ST-45 and ST-574 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and poultry. All C. jejuni were resistant to at least one antibiotic. The highest resistance rate was toward ciprofloxacin (89.7%), followed by tetracycline (74.6%), and nalidixic acid (69.0%).
CONCLUSIONThis is the first report of the genotypes and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni in Shenzhen. Overlapping clonal complexes were found between isolates from patients and cattle, and between patients and poultry.

BACKGROUNDIt has been recently reported that inflammatory mechanisms play an important role in in-stent restenosis (ISR) processes. Inflammatory factors after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for dynamic monitoring can probably predict ISR. Functional polymorphisms in the promoter region of genes coding for inflammatory factors might be important for determining the magnitude of the inflammatory response. Thus, in the present study, we aimed to investigate the serial changes in serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels before and after PCI and the relationship between the -572C/G polymorphism in the promoter region of the IL-6 gene and ISR. We also discussed genetic polymorphisms in the inflammatory response to PCI.
METHODSA total of 437 patients who successfully underwent bare metal stent (BMS) implantation with a follow-up angiography were divided into an ISR group (n = 166) and a non-ISR (NISR) group (n = 271). The IL-6 gene promoter polymorphism at position -572 was determined by restricted fragment length polymorphism using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RFLP) method. The serum IL-6 levels before and one day, five days and 180 days after PCI were determined by the radioimmunoassay method.
RESULTSISR patients showed higher IL-6 serum levels than NISR patients before PCI ((324.42 ± 28.14) ng/L vs. (283.22 ± 47.30) ng/L, P < 0.001), and one day post-PCI IL-6 serum levels in the ISR group also showed a significantly higher level than in the NISR group (P < 0.001). Increased IL-6 after PCI persisted at a statistically significant level throughout the study in ISR patients, whereas IL-6 levels had normalized five days after the procedure in NISR patients. One day post-PCI serum IL-6 level was the most accurate marker for diagnosis of ISR, the area under the ROC curve being 0.927 (95%CI 0.878 - 0.977). The cut-off value for IL-6 to predict ISR was over 355.50 ng/L, with a sensitivity of 0.968 and a specificity of 0.865. There were no significant differences in frequencies of -572 genotype and allele between the two groups (P > 0.05). One day post-PCI IL-6 serum levels in patients with the G allele was significantly higher than in patients without the G allele ((366.99 ± 49.37) ng/L vs. (347.20 ± 55.30) ng/L, P < 0.05). In the ISR group, one day post-PCI serum levels of IL-6 in patients with the G allele was also significantly higher than that in patients without the G allele ((405.67 ± 26.56) ng/L vs. (375.69 ± 38.81) ng/L, P < 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed positive correlations between male gender, one day post-PCI serum levels of IL-6, the pre-PCI degree of stenosis, the length of the target lesion stenosis, and restenosis; and there were negative correlations between the stent diameter, the diameter of the reference vessel before stent implantation and restenosis.
CONCLUSIONSIL-6 is an early post-PCI inflammatory cytokine, and one day post-PCI serum IL-6 level is an independent risk factor for restenosis. The frequencies of IL-6 gene -572 genotype and allele are not different between patients with and without ISR in a Chinese Tianjin Han population, but carrying the IL-6 -572G allele is likely to increase an individual's susceptibility to ISR by promoting serum IL-6 levels.
