OBJECTIVE To analyze the components migrating to blood and metabolites of Polygonum cuspidatum in rats with acute gouty arthritis (AGA). METHODS SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group and P. cuspidatum group (10 g/kg, by raw material), with 6 rats in each group. Except for blank group, AGA model was induced in the remaining groups by injecting potassium oxonate and sodium urate; meanwhile, they were administered corresponding drug solutions or water intragastrically, once a day, for 10 consecutive days. The histopathological morphology of the knee joint tissues in rats was observed;rat serum samples were collected, and the components migrating to blood and metabolites of P. cuspidatum were analyzed by using UPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap-MS. RESULTS Following the intervention with P. cuspidatum, the histopathological morphology of the knee joint synovial tissue in AGA rats showed significant improvement, with reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and hyperplasia, and the preservation of the honeycomb-like structure integrity. In both positive and negative ion modes, a total of 67 chemical components were detected in the serum of rats from P. cuspidatum group, including 25 prototype components and 42 metabolites. The involved compound types encompassed stilbenes, anthraquinones, naphthols, and flavonoids, among others. The metabolic reactions identified included methylation, acetylation, sulfation, and glucuronidation. Notably, compounds such as polydatin, resveratrol and emodin were capable of entering the bloodstream in their prototype forms and undergoing in vivo metabolism. CONCLUSIONS Compounds such as polydatin, resveratrol and emodin are likely to be the active components responsible for the anti-AGA effects of P. cuspidatum.

Objective:To analyze the influencing factors related to the prognosis of delayed replantation of avulsed permanent teeth. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on the clinical data of 35 patients with 38 affected teeth underwent delayed replantation of permanent teeth.According to the prognosis after 12 to 108 months of follow-up,the replantation results of the cases were divided into-success,survival and failure groups.Survival curves were plotted using Kaplan-Meier method,Log-Rank test was used for univariate analysis, and Cox proportional risk regression models were used for multivariate analysis to assess the effects of gender, age, degree of tooth development, mode of tooth preservation and mode of endodontic treatment on the survival rate of replanted teeth. Results:Of the 38 replanted teeth,3 were successful,28 remained and 10 failed. The 9-year cumulative survival rate of the replanted teeth was 34.7%.The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the survival rate of the replanted teeth in the groups with different sex, age, degree of tooth development and the mode of preservation of avulsed teeth(P>0.05).There were statistically significant differences in the cumulative survival rate of the replanted teeth among the groups with different endodontic treatment(P<0.01),which showed that the cumulative survival rate in the root canal filling group>continuous root canal sealing group>pulp preserva-tion treatment group. Conclusion:For the delayed replantation of avulsed premanent teeth, survival prognosis of the teeth treated with pulp preservation is poor, early pulp extraction and root canal filling are recommended.

Objective:To investigate the association of exposure to PM 2.5 and its constituents during pregnancy and fetal growth and to further identify critical windows of exposure for fetal growth. Methods:We included 4 089 mother-child pairs from the Jiangsu Birth Cohort Study between January 2016 and October 2019. Data of general characteristics, clinical information, daily average PM 2.5 exposure, and its constituents during pregnancy were collected. Fetal growth parameters, including head circumference (HC), abdominal circumference (AC), and femur length (FL), were measured by ultrasound after 20 weeks of gestation, and then estimated fetal weight (EFW) was calculated. Generalized linear mixed models were adopted to examine the associations of prenatal exposure to PM 2.5 and its constituents with fetal growth. Distributed lag nonlinear models were used to identify critical exposure windows for each outcome. Results:A 10 μg/m 3 increase in PM 2.5 exposure during pregnancy was associated with a decrease of 0.025 ( β=-0.025, 95% CI: -0.048- -0.001) in HC Z-score, 0.026 ( β=-0.026, 95% CI: -0.049- -0.003) in AC Z-score, and 0.028 ( β=-0.028, 95% CI:-0.052--0.004) in EFW Z-score, along with an increased risk of 8.5% ( RR=1.085, 95% CI: 1.010-1.165) and 13.5% ( RR=1.135, 95% CI: 1.016-1.268) for undergrowth of HC and EFW, respectively. Regarding PM 2.5 constituents, prenatal exposure to black carbon, organic matter, nitrate, sulfate (SO 42-) and ammonium consistently correlated with decreased HC Z-score. SO 42- exposure was also associated with decreased FL Z-scores. In addition, we found that gestational weeks 2-5 were critical windows for HC, weeks 4-13 and 19-40 for AC, weeks 4-13 and 23-37 for FL, and weeks 4-12 and 20-40 for EFW. Conclusions:Our findings demonstrated that exposure to PM 2.5 and its constituents during pregnancy could adversely affect fetal growth and the critical windows for different fetal growth parameters are not completely consistent.
