Objective:
This study aimed to explore the correlation between balance function and core muscle activation in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), compared to healthy individuals.
Methods:
A total of 24 AIS patients and 25 healthy controls were recruited. The limits of stability (LOS) test were conducted to assess balance function, while surface electromyography was used to measure the activity of core muscles, including the internal oblique, external oblique, and multifidus. Diaphragm thickness was measured using ultrasound during different postural tasks. Center of pressure (COP) displacement and trunk inclination distance were also recorded during the LOS test.
Results:
AIS patients showed significantly greater activation of superficial core muscles, such as the internal and external oblique muscles, compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Diaphragm activation was lower in AIS patients during balance tasks (p < 0.01). Although no significant difference was observed in COP displacement between the groups, trunk inclination was significantly greater in the AIS group during certain tasks (p < 0.05).
Conclusion
These findings suggest distinct postural control patterns in AIS patients, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions to improve balance and core muscle function in this population.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) diseases are common clinical conditions. The number of patients with TMJ diseases is large, and the etiology, epidemiology, disease spectrum, and treatment of the disease remain controversial and unknown. To understand and master the current situation of the occurrence, development and prevention of TMJ diseases, as well as to identify the patterns in etiology, incidence, drug sensitivity, and prognosis is crucial for alleviating patients′suffering. This will facilitate in-depth medical research, effective disease prevention measures, and the formulation of corresponding health policies. Cohort construction and research has an irreplaceable role in precise disease prevention and significant improvement in diagnosis and treatment levels. Large-scale cohort studies are needed to explore the relationship between potential risk factors and outcomes of TMJ diseases, and to observe disease prognoses through long-term follw-ups. The consensus aims to establish a standard conceptual frame work for a cohort study on patients with TMJ disease while providing ideas for cohort data standards to this condition. TMJ disease cohort data consists of both common data standards applicable to all specific disease cohorts as well as disease-specific data standards. Common data were available for each specific disease cohort. By integrating different cohort research resources, standard problems or study variables can be unified. Long-term follow-up can be performed using consistent definitions and criteria across different projects for better core data collection. It is hoped that this consensus will be facilitate the development cohort studies of TMJ diseases.

Objective:To assess the association between body mass index (BMI) and major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) among patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).Methods:This was a multicenter prospective cohort study, which was based on the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China (CCC) project. The hospitalized patients with ACS aged between 18 and 80 years, registered in CCC project from November 1, 2014 to December 31, 2019 were included. The included patients were categorized into four groups based on their BMI at the time of admission: underweight (BMI<18.5 kg/m 2), normal weight (BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 kg/m 2), overweight (BMI between 25.0 and 29.9 kg/m 2), and obese (BMI≥30.0 kg/m 2). Multivariate logistic regression models was used to analyze the relationship between BMI and the risk of in-hospital MACCE. Results:A total of 71 681 ACS inpatients were included in the study. The age was (63.4±14.7) years, and 26.5% (18 979/71 681) were female. And the incidence of MACCE for the underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese groups were 14.9% (322/2 154), 9.5% (3 997/41 960), 7.9% (1 908/24 140) and 7.0% (240/3 427), respectively ( P<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a higher incidence of MACCE in the underweight group compared to the normal weight group ( OR=1.30, 95% CI 1.13-1.49, P<0.001), while the overweight and obese groups exhibited no statistically significant difference in the incidence of MACCE compared to the normal weight group (both P>0.05). Conclusion:ACS patients with BMI below normal have a higher risk of in-hospital MACCE, suggesting that BMI may be an indicator for evaluating short-term prognosis in ACS patients.

Objective:To investigate the application effect of 3D printed fetal heart model based on ultrasound data combined with case-based learning (CBL) in prenatal ultrasound teaching of complex heart malformations in standardized residency training of ultrasound medicine. Methods:A total of 60 students majoring in ultrasound imaging who received standardized residency training in Ultrasonography Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, from September 2020 to August 2022 were enrolled as subjects and divided into experimental group and control group, with 30 students in each group. The students in the experimental group received teaching with 3D printed fetal heart model and CBL teaching, and those in the control group received teaching with hand-painted heart diagram and CBL teaching. The two groups were compared in terms of the score of theoretical examination, the degree of satisfaction with teaching, and the self-rated score of the understanding of each disease before and after teaching, and the correlation of the increase in score with case complexity was also analyzed. MedCalc software was used to perform the t-test and the linear regression analysis. Results:The experimental group had a significantly higher score of theoretical examination than the control group [(85.70±8.70) vs. (71.40±9.50)]. The questionnaire survey showed that the experimental group had better feedbacks than the control group in the aspects such as the degree of satisfaction with teaching ( P<0.05). After the implementation of this teaching model, compared with the control group, the experimental group had significantly higher self-rated scores of the understanding of case 2, case 3, case 4, and case 5 ( P<0.05). The increase in score after teaching was positively correlated with the complexity score of abnormal cases ( R2=0.90, P=0.010; R2=0.94, P=0.010), and the experimental group tended to have a greater regression coefficient. Conclusions:The reasonable application of 3D printed fetal heart model combined with CBL teaching in fetal heart teaching in standardized residency training of ultrasound medicine can help the students to understand and enhance the knowledge of cardiac anatomy, improve the learning experience of fetal echocardiography, and deepen the understanding and awareness of complex congenital heart disease.
