Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(8):1125-1129
Objective:
To explore the relationship between beverage dependence and sleep quality among college students, providing empirical evidence for improving their sleep quality.
Methods:
From December 2024 to January 2025, a convenience sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 3 974 college students from four universities in Anhui Province. The Beverage Addiction Scale for College Students (BASCS) was used to assess beverage dependence, and the Self rating Scale of Sleep(SRSS) was used to evaluate sleep quality. A multivariate Logistic regression model was employed to analyze the relationship between beverage dependence and sleep quality, and a restricted cubic spline model was used to examine the dose response relationship between the two.
Results:
The positive rate of beverage dependence symptoms among college students was 7.6%, with positive rates of 9.6%, 13.8%, and 7.4% for the withdrawal symptoms, health effects, and dependence symptoms dimensions, respectively. The detection rate of sleep disorders was 23.6%. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for covariates such as grade, gender, and body mass index, compared with the no beverage dependence group, students with positive beverage dependence symptoms had a higher risk of sleep disorders( OR =3.71, 95% CI =2.87-4.80, P <0.01). The OR (95% CI ) for sleep disorders among students with positive symptoms in the withdrawal symptoms, health effects, and dependence symptoms dimensions were 2.80(2.22-3.53), 2.38(1.95-2.91), and 2.45(1.89-3.18)(all P <0.01). Further analysis using a restricted cubic spline model revealed that the overall beverage dependence score and its three dimensional scores were approximately linearly related to the risk of sleep disorders among college students (all nonlinear P >0.05).
Conclusions
Beverage dependence is associated with sleep quality among college students. Schools should take multiple approaches, such as health education on beverage awareness, to improve students sleep quality.

Objective:To explore the pathway of influencing factors of self-management in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) based on health belief theory. Methods:It was a cross-sectional study. A total of 210 elderly patients with T2DM admitted to Shanghai 10th People′s Hospital from January 2021 to March 2022 were selected as research subjects. The surveys of general data questionnaire, social support rating scale, the diabetes self-management scale, the health literacy survey scale for patients with chronic diseases, and the self-efficacy scale for patients with diabetes were conducted in all the subjects. The t test and Spearman correlation analysis were used to test the correlation among variables. Results:Social support, health literacy and self-efficacy were positively correlated with self-management scores in these patients ( r=0.380, 0.392, 0.274, all P<0.001). Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in self-management among patients with different age, education level, physical exercise, medical payment method, family history and sleep quality (all P<0.05). Path analysis showed that the mediating effect of social support in the relationship between health literacy and self-efficacy was significant (95% CI: 0.014-0.117), social support, self-efficacy and health literacy directly affected self-management( β=0.25, 0.27, 0.35, all P<0.01). Self-efficacy and health literacy also positively affected self-management through multiple mediators of social support ( β=0.16, 0.27, both P<0.01). Conclusion:Social support, self-efficacy and health literacy mediate in the self-management of elderly patients with T2DM complicated with chronic complications and interact with each other.

Although deep learning plays an important role in cell nucleus segmentation, it still faces problems such as difficulty in extracting subtle features and blurring of nucleus edges in pathological diagnosis. Aiming at the above problems, a nuclear segmentation network combined with attention mechanism is proposed. The network uses UNet network as the basic structure and the depth separable residual (DSRC) module as the feature encoding to avoid losing the boundary information of the cell nucleus. The feature decoding uses the coordinate attention (CA) to enhance the long-range distance in the feature space and highlights the key information of the nuclear position. Finally, the semantics information fusion (SIF) module integrates the feature of deep and shallow layers to improve the segmentation effect. The experiments were performed on the 2018 data science bowl (DSB2018) dataset and the triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) dataset. For the two datasets, the accuracy of the proposed method was 92.01% and 89.80%, the sensitivity was 90.09% and 91.10%, and the mean intersection over union was 89.01% and 89.12%, respectively. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively segment the subtle regions of the nucleus, improve the segmentation accuracy, and provide a reliable basis for clinical diagnosis.

Objective The purpose of this study was to detect the degradation degree of long-term formalin fixed tissue and to compare the detection rate of STR with SNP. Methods DNA was extracted from 24 formalin-fixed tissues stored at -20 ℃ for five years, and the concentration and degradation index of DNA was quantified with Quantifiler? Trio DNA Kit. A 55-SNP multiplex SNaPshot assay and PowerPlex? 21 system were used to amplify SNP and STR loci, respectively. Results The results showed that the degradation indexes of 24 specimens were ranged from 1~8. The SNP genotypes of the 24 specimens were completely consistent with the non-degraded DNA from the same individuals and the successful genotyping rate was 100%. However, 33 allele dropouts were observed with STR genotyping in 8 samples, of which the degradation index was higher than 2.6, and the fragment size of the 75.8% allele was longer than 300bp. The likelihood ratio based on 16 typable STR loci in the sample was close to that onthe basis of 54 SNPs. However, likelihood ratio based on more than 17 STR loci was over that accord to 54 SNPs. There was a negative correlation between the fragment size of STR and the allele detection rate, and a negative correlation also observed between the degradation index of samples and the allele detection rate except for two samples with mild degradation. Conclusion This study validated that the long-term formalin-fixed tissues were susceptible to degradation, and the SNP was more suitable for detecting these tissues than STR typing system. However more SNP loci are needed to test in order to increase the discrimination power.

Objective To investigate the morbidity, diagnostic profile and perinatal outcome of pregestational diabetes mellitus (PGDM) in 15 hospitals in Guangdong province. Methods A total of 41338 women delivered in the 15 hospitals during the 6 months,195 women with PGDM(PGDM group) and 195 women with normal glucose test result(control group)were recruited from these tertiary hospitals in Guangdong province from January 2016 to June 2016. The morbidity and diagnostic profile of PGDM were analyzed. The complications during pregnancy and perinatal outcomes were compared between the two groups. In the PGDM group, pregnancy outcomes were analyzed in women who used insulin treatment (n=91) and women who did not (n=104). Results (1)The incidence of PGDM was 0.472%(195/41338). Diabetes mellitus were diagnosed in 59 women (30.3%, 59/195) before pregnancy, and 136 women (69.7%,136/195) were diagnosed as PGDM after conceptions. Forty-six women (33.8%) were diagnosed by fasting glucose and glycohemoglobin (HbA1c) screening. (2) The maternal age, pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), prenatal BMI, percentage of family history of diabetes, incidence of macrosomia, concentration of low density lipoprotein were significantly higher in PGDM group than those in control group (all P<0.05). Women in PGDM group had significantly higher HbA1c concentration((6.3±1.3)% vs (5.2±0.4)%), fasting glucose [(6.3±2.3) vs (4.8±1.1) mmol/L], oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)-1 h glucose((12.6±2.9) vs (7.1± 1.3) mmol/L)and OGTT-2 h glucose [(12.0±3.0) vs (6.4±1.0) mmol/L] than those in control group (P<0.01). (3)The morbidity of preterm births was significantly higher (11.3% vs 1.0%, P<0.01), and the gestational age at delivery in PGDM group was significantly smaller [(37.6±2.3) vs (39.2±1.2) weeks, P<0.01]. Cesarean delivery rate in the PGDM group (70.8% vs 29.7%) was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.01). There was significantly difference between PGDM group and control in the neonatal male/female ratio (98/97 vs 111/84, P=0.033). The neonatal birth weight in PGDM group was significantly higher((3159±700) vs (3451±423) g, P<0.01). And the incidence of neonatal hypoglycemia in the PGDM group was higher than the control group (7.7% vs 2.6%, P=0.036).(4)In the PGDM group, women who were treated with insulin had a smaller gestational age at delivery [(36.9±2.9) vs (37.9±2.5) weeks, P<0.01], and the neonates had a higher neonatal ICU(NICU)admission rate (24.2% vs 9.6% , P<0.01). Conclusions The morbidity of PGDM in the 15 hospitals in Guangdong province is 0.472%. The majority of PGDM was diagnosed during pregnancy; HbA1c and fasting glucose are reliable parameters for PGDM screening. Women with PGDM have obvious family history of diabetes and repeated pregnancy may accelerate the process of diabetes mellitus. Women with PGDM have higher risk for preterm delivery and neonatal hypoglycemia. Unsatisfied glucose control followed by insulin treatment may increase the need for NICU admission.
