25 partial ear defects were divided into 5 regions. The cases with defect in 1 and 2nd regions were treated by postauricular flap combined with ipsilateral conchal cartilage graft in one stage; Cases in the 3rd regions were repaired with the posterior pedicled flap combined with conchal or rib cartilage graft in two stages; According to the defect in 4th region, post-auricular skin flap was transplanted anteriorly to repair; The temporal fascial flap and skin graft were used for the 3 cases with post-operative cartilage exposure.

		                        			Results:
All flaps survived with good shape except one case with partial epidermal necrosis and 3 cases deep color after the temporal fascial flap and skin graft. 9 cases that needed second operation.

		                        			Conclusions
The postauricular flap is a preferred alternative method in case periauricular skin is in fact, which yields closer tissue match, color, and texture. It is safe and effective for the correction of segmental ear defect with satisfied shape. The temporal fascial flap can be regarded as the last alternatives.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression level of S100A6 mRNA in MM and to its clinical significance, and to evaluate its significance.
METHODSThe expression level of S100A6 mRNA in MM patients was determined by real time quantitative PCR(RQ-PCR), and its relationship with the clinical features and outcomes of patients was analyzed by statistic method.
RESULTSS100A6 mRNA was detected in 20 MM patients. Compared with normal persons, the S100A6 mRNA expression in MM patients was higher. In different groups, the S100A6 mRNA expression in MM patients of 3 stages was higer than that in patients of 1 and 2 stages. MM patients with higher S100A6 mRNA expression had poor prognosis and higer extramedullary metastasis rate.
CONCLUSIONThe high expression of S100A6 mRNA is associated with poor prognosis and may be a prognostic molecular marker of MM.

BACKGROUNDOptimizing treatment outcomes for depression requires understanding of how evidence-based treatments are utilized in clinical practice. Antipsychotic medications concurrent with antidepressant treatment are frequently used in major depression, but few studies have investigated trends and patterns of their use over time. This study aimed to examine the prescription patterns of antipsychotic medications for major depression in China from 2002 to 2012 and their association with treatment satisfaction and quality of life (QOL).
METHODSA total of 3655 subjects with major depression treated in 45 Chinese psychiatric hospitals/centers nationwide were interviewed between 2002 and 2012. Patients' socio-demographic and clinical characteristics including psychopathology, medication side effects, satisfaction with treatment and QOL were recorded using a standardized protocol and data collection.
RESULTSThe frequency of antipsychotic use was 24.9% in the whole sample; the corresponding figures were 17.1%, 20.3%, and 32.8% in 2002, 2006, and 2012, respectively (χ2 = 90.3, df = 2, P < 0.001). Multiple logistic regression analyses revealed that patients on concurrent antipsychotics had significantly more delusions or hallucinations, longer illness duration, greater side effects, and more likely to be treated as inpatients and in major hospitals (i.e., Level-III hospital). Antipsychotic use was associated with lower treatment satisfaction while there was no significant difference with respect to physical and mental QOL between the antipsychotic and nonantipsychotic groups.
CONCLUSIONSConcurrent antipsychotic use was found in about one in four treated depressed patients in China, which has increased over a 10-year period. Considering the association of drug-induced side effects and the lack of patients' and relatives' satisfaction with antipsychotic treatment, further examination of the rationale and appropriateness of the use of antipsychotics in depression is needed.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level for cervical cancer and its relationship with the therapeutic efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).Methods Eighty patients with a pathologically confirmed diagnosis of advanced cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC),20 patients with chronic cervicitis, and 20 healthy persons (as controls) were enrolled in the study. The CSCC patients received CCRT.All the subjects had their baseline serum VEGF levels measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA);also, the CSCC patients had their serum VEGF levels measured by ELISA at 3 months after CCRT.The relationship between the serum VEGF levels and therapeutic efficacy of CCRT was analyzed. Results The CSCC patients had a significantly higher baseline serum VEGF level than the chronic cervicitis patients and controls (237.36 μg/L vs.142.36 μg/L,t =4.03,P =0.000).The serum VEGF level was closely related to tumor stage, tumor differentiation, and lymph node metastasis.A serum VEGF level above 197.52 μg/L was the optimal cut point for diagnosing cervical cancer, with a sensitivity of 0.88 and a specificity of 0.72.The serum VEGF levels before and after CCRT showed a close relationship with the therapeutic efficacy. The patients achieving a complete remission had a significantly greater change in serum VEGF level than those with progression; the patients with high baseline serum VEGF levels had a significantly higher tumor progression or death rate than those with low baseline serum VEGF levels. Conclusions Serum VEGF level has poor diagnostic value for cervical cancer, though it is closely related to the tumor stage, tumor differentiation, and lymph node metastasis of cervical cancer. However, serum VEGF level has some predictive value for the therapeutic efficacy of CCRT in patients with cervical cancer.

OBJECTIVETo assess the clinical efficacy on adhesive ileus treated by electroacupuncture (EA) at Zhigou (TE 6) and Zusanli (ST 36), and to explore the different effects of acupoint and non-acupoint.
METHODSForty cases were randomized into an acupoint group and a non-acupoint group, 20 cases in each one. At the same time of the basic treatment, in the acupoint group, EA was applied at bilateral Zhigou (TE 6) and Zusanli (ST 36). In the non-acupoint group, EA was applied at the sites (that were neither on any meridian nor belonged to any acupoint) that were 0.5 to 1 cm lateral to Zhigou (TE 6) and Zusanli (ST 36) on both sides. Acupuncture was given twice a day, lasting for 4 days totally. The situation of abdominal pain, the time for the improvement in abdominal distention, the time of first voluntary defecation, the time of solid food intake and the others were observed.
RESULTSIn the acupoint group, the abdominal pain and distention were relieved rapidly as compared with those in the non-acupoint group. The results of the assessment face scale (AFS), the first anal exhaust time [(51.35 +/- 32.40) h vs (101.85 +/- 53.87) h], the first defecation time [(82.70 +/- 57.27) h vs (154.70 +/- 145.28) h] and the first solid food intake time [(119.65 +/- 56. 16) h vs (231.95 +/- 180.89) h] were all remarkably improved as compared with those in the non-acupoint group, presenting the statistical significance (P<0.05, P<0.01). Concerning the case number for the conversion to surgery, the death number and the number for the re-admission in 1 year follow-up visit, there was no significant difference in statistics between two groups (all P>0.05). But, the data suggested that the results were improved in tendency in the acupoint group.
CONCLUSIONEA at Zhigou (TE 6) and Zusanli (ST 36) achieves the good clinical efficacy on adhesive ileus. This therapy can remarkably improve abdominal pain and distention and promote the intestinal peristalsis for the patients and is superior to EA at non-acupoint.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and analyze the prognostic factors of sorafenib treatment in patient with unresectable primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
METHODSDuring the period from December 2005 to March 2009, 50 patients with unresectable primary HCC of Child-Pugh status A were treated with sorafenib (400 mg, Bid). The tumor response was evaluated with CT or MRI imaging every 6 - 8 weeks according to the RECIST criteria. The overall survival (OS) and time to progression (TTP) were defined as the time from administration of sorafenib to the death or the last follow up and were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier method.
RESULTSThere was no PR or CR, but 28 patients (56.0%) achieved stable disease. The median follow up time was 15 months with a median OS of 14 months and median TTP of 4 months. The common adverse events were dermal reaction (68.0%, 34/50), diarrhea (52.0%, 26/50), hypertension (4.0%, 2/50), hair loss (14.0%, 7/50), myelosuppression (16.0%, 8/50), and liver dysfunction (20.0%, 10/50). However, most of the drug-related adverse events were grade I-II and reversible. The patients with lower tumor burden and without distant metastasis had better prognosis.
CONCLUSIONSoafenib is effective for unresectable primary HCC with tolerable toxicity. Tumor stage is a predominant prognostic factor.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the feasibility of construction of tissue-engineered skin in vitro.
METHODSFibroblasts were seeded on the dermal surface of acellular dermal matrix (ADM). 7 days later, epidermal cells (5 x 10(5)/cm2) were mixed with fibroblasts (0.2 x 10(5)/cm2) and then seeded on epidermal surface of ADM. The culture medium was the mixture liquor containing K-SFM in half and the culture supernatants of fibroblasts in half. In the control group, only epidermal cells (5 x 10(5)/cm2) were seeded and cultured with K-SFM. After composite skin was cultured for 1 week and 3 week, samples were harvested respectively for morphological study and to receive identification by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSAfter 3-week culture, there were 3-4 continuous layers of cells in the epidermis in the experiment group. The epidermis was attached tightly to the dermis with trochanterellus. But in the control group, there were just 1-2 layers of cells in the epidermis which was not connected to the dermis. Strong positive dye of Laminin indicated that basement membrane was thoroughly formed in the experiment group. The same result was demonstrated by transmission electron microscope.
CONCLUSIONSThe mix-seeding of epidermal cells and few fibroblasts would promote the adhesion and proliferation of epidermal cells on ADM, and the formation of basement membrane.

OBJECTIVETo explore the influence of nonylphenol (NP) on the neural behavioral development of filial generation rats exposed via placenta.
METHODSOn the first day of the pregnancy, the SD rats were divided into four groups, and orally administered with NP at doses of 0, 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg on gestational day 9 approximately 15 respectively. The offspring rats of each groups were examined to observe the impact of NP on the early physiological, neurobehavioral development. The changes of filial generation body weight (from generation day 1 to 28) were measured. Brain tissues were stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and Congo red to observe with optical microscope.
RESULTSIn contrast to the control group, the early physiological markers (pinna detachment, hair growth, tooth growth and eye opening) and the early neurobehavioral development indices (surface righting, air righting, acoustic startle and visual placing) were significantly delayed in the groups of NP 200mg/kg dose (P < 0.05). The developing time of physiological markers decreased from (4.5 +/- 0.8, 5.2 +/- 0.8, 12.7 +/- 1.4, 16.0 +/- 1.7) d to (3.6 +/- 0.5, 3.6 +/- 0.5, 11.1 +/- 1.1, 12.7 +/- 1.3) d while neurobehavioral developing time decreased from (6.5 +/- 0.8, 11.3 +/- 0.5, 11.2 +/- 1.0, 20.2 +/- 1.0) d to (5.1 +/- 0.4, 8.3 +/- 0.5, 9.3 +/- 0.5, 9.3 +/- 0.5) d (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The body weights of filial generation rats were decreased obviously from 1 st day to 28th day. Histopathological examination displayed that hippocampal neurons had congestion and oedema in the group of 100, 200 mg/kg dose.
CONCLUSIONExposures to NP during gestation might impair the neurobehavioral development of F1 rats significantly.
