Objective To provide references for reasonable equipping of airborne medical equipment oriented to different tasks by constructing a medical equipment requirement model for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team. Methods Relevant basic data were collected and organized on time for routine and emergency medical treatment and elementary medical equipment requirements for types of medical treatment.AnyLogic multi-agent modeling was used to established a medical equipment requirement model for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team, with the casualty, equipment and medical personnel as the agent modules and the logical relationship-based access rules between the agents. An example was taken with a Z-8 helicopter transformed into an ambulance platform to transport the rescue team and casualties,in which a variety of evacuation tasks with multi combinations of light and serious casualties were simulated and the model developed was used to record and analyze the data on waiting time for medical treatment, completion rate, personnel utilization rate and equipment requirement during 100 times of simulation flight. Results The model developed could provide generalized medical equipment allocation programs for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team to complete a variety of evacuation tasks in terms of electronic device, treatment equipment, auxiliary instrument and medical consumables. Conclusion The model developed facilitates rational allocation of medical equipment for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(5):28-33]

Objective To examine the current state of care services for geriatric osteoporotic fractures in Chinese hospitals and to provide a basis for the improvement of these services and the formulation of related policies. Methods In September to November 2023,a stratified convenience sampling method was used to investigate the implementation of care services for elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures in 621 hospitals across 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)in China.A self-designed questionnaire was utilized for this purpose. Results A total of 621 hospitals participated in the survey, with 432(69.57%)tertiary hospitals and 189(30.43%)secondary hospitals.Over 95%of hospitals provided health education on diet, medication, fall prevention, and early functional exercise for elderly fracture patients.Less than 80%of hospitals provide specialized training on osteoporosis treatment and secondary fracture prevention for medical staff.Only 263 hospitals(42.35%)routinely conduct bone density tests for patients over 50 years old with fractures, while 221 hospitals(35.59%)routinely conduct bone metabolic biochemical tests for such patients.Less than 50%of hospitals provide specialized services, such as geriatric osteoporotic fracture clinics, for elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures.Additionally,39.77%of hospital departments have not developed postoperative care plans for elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures. The lack of specialized care teams(91.63%),insufficient investment in care resources(88.08%),and the absence of policy support(77.45%)are identified as the primary factors impeding the provision of care services for elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures in hospitals.Although some care services in tertiary hospitals are superior to those in secondary hospitals(P<0.05),they are still far from adequate. Conclusion The development of care services for elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures in Chinese hospitals needs improvement. It is recommended to further standardize and enhance the content and methods of health education, intensify clinical assessments related to osteoporosis in elderly fracture patients, improve the professional care capabilities of medical staff, and at the same time, the state should introduce relevant policies to support and promote the construction and development of hospital care services for elderly osteoporotic fracture patients.

Purpose:
To identify the optimal photobiomodulation (PBM) parameters using molecular, histological, and erectile function analysis in cavernous nerve injury.
Materials and Methods:
A cavernous nerve injury was induced in 8-week-old C57BL/6J male mice that were subsequently divided randomly into age-matched control groups. Erectile function tests, penile histology, and Western blotting were performed 2 weeks after surgery and PBM treatment.
Results:
The PBM treatment was administered for five consecutive days with a light-emitted diode (LED) device that delivers 660 nm±3% RED light, and near infra-red 830 nm±2% promptly administered following nerve-crushing surgery and achieved a notable restoration of erectile function approximately 90% of the control values. Subsequent in-vitro and ex-vivo analyses revealed the regeneration of neurovascular connections in both the dorsal root ganglion and major pelvic ganglion, characterized by the sprouting of neurites. Furthermore, the expression levels of neurotrophic, survival, and angiogenic factors exhibited a substantial increase across all groups subjected to PBM treatment.
Conclusions
The utilization of PBM employing LED with 660 nm, 830 nm, and combination of both these wavelengths, exhibited significant efficacy to restore erectile function in a murine model of cavernous nerve injury. Thus, the PBM emerges as a potent therapeutic modality with notable advantages such as efficacy, noninvasiveness, and non-pharmacological interventions for erectile dysfunction caused by nerve injury.

Diabetes & Metabolism Journal 2024;48(6):1015-1028
Since the role of the liver in metabolic dysfunction, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, was demonstrated, studies on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) have shown associations between fatty liver disease and other metabolic diseases. Unlike the exclusionary diagnostic criteria of NAFLD, MAFLD diagnosis is based on the presence of metabolic dysregulation in fatty liver disease. Renaming NAFLD as MAFLD also introduced simpler diagnostic criteria. In 2023, a new nomenclature, steatotic liver disease (SLD), was proposed. Similar to MAFLD, SLD diagnosis is based on the presence of hepatic steatosis with at least one cardiometabolic dysfunction. SLD is categorized into metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), metabolic dysfunction and alcohol-related/-associated liver disease, alcoholrelated liver disease, specific etiology SLD, and cryptogenic SLD. The term MASLD has been adopted by a number of leading national and international societies due to its concise diagnostic criteria, exclusion of other concomitant liver diseases, and lack of stigmatizing terms. This article reviews the diagnostic criteria, clinical relevance, and differences among NAFLD, MAFLD, and MASLD from a diabetologist’s perspective and provides a rationale for adopting SLD/MASLD in the Fatty Liver Research Group of the Korean Diabetes Association.
