		                        			 Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Korea and the third leading cause of death from cancer. Treatment outcomes for colon cancer are steadily improving due to national health screening programs with advances in diagnostic methods, surgical techniques, and therapeutic agents.. The Korea Colon Cancer Multidisciplinary (KCCM) Committee intends to provide professionals who treat colon cancer with the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice guidelines to improve outcomes and help them make decisions that reflect their patients’ values and preferences. These guidelines have been established by consensus reached by the KCCM Guideline Committee based on a systematic literature review and evidence synthesis and by considering the national health insurance system in real clinical practice settings. 		                        			 Safe and effective sedation depends on various factors, such as the choice of sedatives, sedation techniques used, experience of the sedation provider, degree of sedation-related education and training, equipment and healthcare worker availability, the patient’s underlying diseases, and the procedure being performed. The purpose of these evidence-based multidisciplinary clinical practice guidelines is to ensure the safety and efficacy of sedation, thereby contributing to patient safety and ultimately improving public health. These clinical practice guidelines comprise 15 key questions covering various topics related to the following: the sedation providers; medications and equipment available; appropriate patient selection; anesthesiologist referrals for high-risk patients; pre-sedation fasting; comparison of representative drugs used in adult and pediatric patients; respiratory system, cardiovascular system, and sedation depth monitoring during sedation; management of respiratory complications during pediatric sedation; and discharge criteria. The recommendations in these clinical practice guidelines were systematically developed to assist providers and patients in sedation-related decision making for diagnostic and therapeutic examinations or procedures. Depending on the characteristics of primary, secondary, and tertiary care institutions as well as the clinical needs and limitations, sedation providers at each medical institution may choose to apply the recommendations as they are, modify them appropriately, or reject them completely. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
3.Appendiceal mucocele masquerading as an epithelial borderline ovarian tumor: a case report and literature review

		                        			 Appendiceal mucocele is a rare mucin-producing neoplasm of appendiceal origin. Due to its location and imaging findings, appendiceal mucocele is easily confused with tumors of the right adnexa. We present a rare case of a patient initially misdiagnosed with an ovarian tumor intraoperatively diagnosed as an appendiceal mucocele and successfully treated. A 66-year-old postmenopausal woman was admitted to the gynecology department for an asymptomatic pelvic mass. Preoperative pelvic imaging showed an 8-cm cystic mass. Exploratory laparoscopy for the suspected epithelial borderline tumor from the right ovary revealed a cystic mass in the right pelvic area and normal uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Intraoperative consultation with the general surgery department confirmed the appendiceal origin. Laparoscopic appendectomy was performed. Histopathological examination confirmed a low-grade mucinous neoplasm of appendiceal origin. The patient was discharged on a postoperative day 5 without complications. The outpatient follow-up performed 1 month later showed no evidence of disease progression. Despite the use of advanced diagnostic tools, appendiceal mucocele may be confused for ovarian malignancies. Because the clinical features of appendiceal mucocele are nonspecific, clinicians and radiologists know the specific imaging findings. A multidisciplinary approach including general surgery, gynecology, and radiology is required for preoperative diagnosis and treatment. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
4.The Effect of Self-Esteem, Stress, Family Support, and Resilience on Interpersonal Relationship Competence in Depressive Disorder Patients

		                        			 Purpose:
		                        			The purpose of this study is to identify the interpersonal relationship competence level of depressive disorder patients and to analyze the correlation among factors determining support, and resilience, and how such factors might affect interpersonal relationship competence of depressive disorder patients. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			This study included 137 patients with depressive disorder at the Gyeonggi-do hospital who consented to participate. Data were collected from September, 2019 to June, 2020. Descriptive analysis, t-test, Cronbach's coefficient, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were conducted using SPSS 24.0 program. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The interpersonal relationship competence of patients with depressive disorder showed positive correlations with self-esteem, family support, and resilience. The factor affecting interpersonal relationship competence of patients with depressive disorder was resilience (β=.52, p<.001), and the overall explanatory power of this factor was 28%. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			This study showed that resilience was an important variable which influenced interpersonal relationship competence of patients with depressive disorder. To enhance the interpersonal relationship competence of patients with depressive disorder, it is necessary to develop and implement training programs which would enhance resilience and educational programs in order to help patients with depressive disorder increase interpersonal relationship competence. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
5.Prognostic Model for Survival and Recurrence in Patients with Early-Stage Cervical Cancer: A Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group Study (KGOG 1028)

		                        			 Purpose:
		                        			We aimed to develop and validate individual prognostic models in a large cohort of cervical cancer patients that were primarily treated with radical hysterectomy. 
		                        		
		                        			Materials and Methods:
		                        			We analyzed 1,441 patients with early-stage cervical cancer treated between 2000 and 2008 from the Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group multi-institutional cohort: a train cohort (n=788) and a test cohort (n=653). Models predicting the risk for overall survival (OS), disease- free survival (DFS), lymphatic recurrence and hematogenous recurrence were developed using Cox analysis and stepwise backward selection and best-model options. The prognostic performance of each model was assessed in an independent patient cohort. Model-classified risk groups were compared to groups based on traditional risk factors. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			Independent risk factors for OS, DFS, lymphatic recurrence, and hematogenous recurrence were identified for prediction model development. Different combinations of risk factors were shown for each outcome with best predictive value. In train cohort, area under the curve (AUC) at 2 and 5 years were 0.842/0.836 for recurrence, and 0.939/0.882 for OS. When applied to a test cohort, the model also showed accurate prediction result (AUC at 2 and 5 years were 0.799/0.723 for recurrence, and 0.844/0.806 for OS, respectively). The Kaplan-Meier plot by proposed model-classified risk groups showed more distinctive survival differences between each risk group. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			We developed prognostic models for OS, DFS, lymphatic and hematogenous recurrence in patients with early-stage cervical cancer. Combining weighted clinicopathologic factors, the proposed model can give more individualized predictions in clinical practice. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
6.Validation of the Korean Version of the Depression in Old Age Scale and Comparison with Other Depression Screening Questionnaires Used in Elderly Patients in Medical Settings

		                        			OBJECTIVE: The Depression in Old Age Scale (DIA-S) is a new screening tool for assessing depression in the elderly. The primary aims of this study were to describe the validation of the Korean version of the DIA-S (K-DIA-S) and to compare its validity with that of other depression screening questionnaires used in elderly outpatients in medical settings. METHODS: A total of 385 elderly outpatients completed the K-DIA-S and underwent the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview to diagnose depressive disorders. Other measures included the 15-item short form of the Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS), the 9-item depression module of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and the Montgomery–Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Reliability and validity tests, an optimal cutoff point estimate, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis were performed to investigate the diagnostic validity of the K-DIA-S. Areas under the curves (AUCs) for the K-DIA-S, SGDS, and PHQ-9 were compared statistically. RESULTS: The K-DIA-S showed good internal consistency and strong correlations with the SGDS (r = 0.853), PHQ-9 (r = 0.739), and MADRS (r = 0.772). The cut-off point of the K-DIA-S that can be recommended for screening depressive symptoms was a score of 4. For “any depressive disorder”, the AUC (standard error) for the K-DIA-S was 0.896 (0.015), which was significantly larger than that for the PHQ-9 (p = 0.033). CONCLUSION: The present findings suggest that the K-DIA-S has good psychometric properties and is a valid and reliable tool for assessing depressive symptoms in elderly populations and medically ill patients.

7.Chest Pain in a Renal Transplant Recipient due to Concomitant Cytomegalovirus and Herpes Simplex Virus Esophagitis

		                        			Chest pain in kidney transplant patients is usually caused by cardiac or pulmonary problems. However, it may be rarely caused by opportunistic esophageal infections. A 66-year-old female kidney transplant recipient was admitted because of chest pain. She had been treated with high-dose steroid and immunosuppressants for acute T-cell-mediated rejection. Cardiologic and pulmonary evaluations had normal results. Endoscopic examination revealed three clear ulcerative lesions in the esophagus. Histological and immunohistochemical staining of the endoscopic biopsy specimens revealed coinfection of herpes simplex virus and cytomegalovirus. The patient was treated with intravenous ganciclovir for 2 weeks. Her symptoms completely resolved, and follow-up endoscopy revealed complete healing of the previous ulcers. Viral esophagitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis in kidney transplant recipients presenting with chest pain.

		                        			PURPOSE: To elucidate the clinical manifestations of cytomegalovirus (CMV) endotheliitis, and evaluate the outcomes of treatment in CMV endotheliitis. METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of 7 patients (8 eyes) who were diagnosed with CMV endotheliitis via a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of aqueous humor and were treated with ganciclovir. RESULTS: Eight eyes of 7 patients were followed for a mean of 17.8 months. One patient had bilateral corneal endotheliitis. All eyes had coin-shaped keratoprecipitates and mild anterior chamber inflammation (1+~2+). All eyes had an absence of anterior segment inflammation 3 weeks after ganciclovir treatment. Following treatment, the mean visual acuity improved significantly from 0.60 ± 0.40 (log MAR) at baseline to 0.18 ± 0.18 (log MAR) at last follow-up. The mean intraocular pressure (IOP) decreased significantly from 30 mm Hg at baseline to 12 mm Hg at last visit. Two eyes had a recurrence of corneal endotheliitis, where one underwent penetrating keratoplasty and the other was treated with intravitreal ganciclovir injection. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with increased IOP and coin-shaped keratoprecipitates are suspected to have CMV endotheliitis, and PCR of aqueous humor is needed to diagnose CMV endotheliitis. 10.The Effect of 0.02% Mitomycin C Injection into the Hair Follicle with Radiofrequency Ablation in Trichiasis Patients.

		                        			PURPOSE: To investigate the inhibitory effect of 0.02% mitomycin C on eyelash regrowth when injected to the eyelash hair follicle immediately after radiofrequency ablation. METHODS: We prospectively included 21 trichiasis patients from June 2011 to October 2012. Twenty eyes of 14 patients were treated with 0.02% mitomycin C to the hair follicle immediately after radiofrequency ablation in group 1, while radiofrequency ablation only was conducted in ten eyes of seven patients in group 2. Recurrences and complications were evaluated until six months after treatment. RESULTS: One hundred sixteen eyelashes of 20 eyes in group 1 underwent treatment, and 19 (16.4%) eyelashes recurred. Eighty-four eyelashes of ten eyes in group 2 underwent treatment, and 51 (60.7%) eyelashes recurred. No patients developed any complications related to mitomycin C. CONCLUSIONS: Application of 0.02% mitomycin C in conjunction with radiofrequency ablation may help to improve the success rate of radiofrequency ablation treatment in trichiasis patients.
