Institutions of higher education undertake a significant number of animal experiment projects with diverse types. To standardize animal experiments and ensure animal welfare, ethical review has become a core task for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in these higher education institutions. A key issue worth exploring is how to improve the efficiency of animal ethical reviews while maintaining systematic quality of supervision. Based on the current status of ethical reviews at the Laboratory Animal Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, this paper designs and implements a full-process ethical review software system. This system seeks to offer solutions for the ethical review and supervision of animal welfare in institutions of higher education through information technology. The system employs a full-process supervision philosophy of "pre-approval, in-process supervision, post-review," focusing on strengthening the review and approval of animal research protocols, as well as post-approval monitoring. At the pre-approval stage, the system optimizes the process for designated members involved in the project review, ensuring that all projects comply with ethical standards and legal regulations. At the in-process stage, veterinary verification and consultation are carried out by executive veterinarians, using a method of "offline inspections and online records" for supervision. At the post-review stage, researchers are required to provide retrospective data to evaluate the experimental process. Additionally, this paper provides an in-depth exploration of the software, detailing its functional and non-functional requirements, as well as its security considerations. It also delves into the comprehensive software architecture, process design, and operational details. Furthermore, it illustrates the system's operational efficacy and impact since its launch. This paper discusses the software's applicability and practicality, analyzing existing limitations and challenges, such as the difficulty of balancing experiment urgency with the stringent nature of review processes, and the traceability blind spots in post-approval supervision. Future research will continue to enhance the accuracy and strength of animal welfare ethical reviews and supervision through new technologies and methods.

Background:
SM-like (LSM) genes a family of RNA-binding proteins, are involved in mRNA regulation and can function as oncogenes by altering mRNA stability. However, their roles in B-cell progression and tumorigenesis remain poorly understood.
Methods:
We analyzed gene expression profiles and overall survival data of 123 patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). The LSM index was developed to assess its potential as a prognostic marker of MCL survival.
Results:
Five of the eight LSM genes were identified as potential prognostic markers for survival in MCL, with particular emphasis on the LSM.index. The expression levels of these LSM genes demonstrated their potential utility as classifiers of MCL. The LSM.index-high group exhibited both poorer survival rates and lower RNA levels than did the overall transcript profile. Notably, LSM1 and LSM8 were overexpressed in the LSM.index-high group, with LSM1 showing 2.5-fold increase (p < 0.001) and LSM8 depicting 1.8-fold increase (p < 0.01) than those in the LSM.index-low group.Furthermore, elevated LSM gene expression was associated with increased cell division and RNA splicing pathway activity.
Conclusions
The LSM.index demonstrates potential as a prognostic marker for survival in patients with MCL. Elevated expression of LSM genes, particularly LSM1 and LSM8, may be linked to poor survival outcomes through their involvement in cell division and RNA splicing pathways. These findings suggest that LSM genes may contribute to the aggressive behavior of MCL and represent potential targets for therapeutic interventions.

Objective :
To investigate the protective effect and mechanism of Hudi Enteric capsules in ionizing radiation injury to small intestinal crypt cells (IEC⁃6 cells) in rats.
Methods :
IEC⁃6 cells were irradiated with 6 mega electron volt X ⁃rays (2 , 4 , 6 , 8 and 10 Gy) , cell clone formation assay was used to detect cell proliferation , and the 6 Gy ionizing radiation was selected to establish a cellular radiation damage model according to the cell survival rate. The effect of each concentration ( 12. 5 , 25 , 50 , 100 and 200 μg/ml) of Hudi enteric extract on the viability of IEC⁃6 cells was examined by cell counting kit⁃8(CCK⁃8) method , and the effect on the viability of IEC⁃6 cells after irradiation at ( 10 , 20 , 40 and 80 μg/ml) concentrations was examined according to the results. After obtaining the optimal irradiation dose and extract concentration , the cells were divided into control group , model group and Hudi extract group (80 μg/ml) , the control group was pseudo⁃irradiated and the other two groups received 6 Gy of ionizing radiation , and the Hudi enteric extract group was pre⁃treated with drugs 2 h before irradiation. Apoptosis was detected by Annexin V ⁃PI double staining; cell senescence was detected by β ⁃galactosidase (β⁃Gal) staining; reactive oxygen species was detected by DCFH⁃DA fluorescent probe ; the corresponding protein expression of p16 , p21 , Catalase (CAT) and Superoxide dismutase ( SOD2) was detected by Western blot.
Results :
The proliferation of IEC⁃6 cells was inhibited by radiation doses ranging from 4 Gy to 10 Gy(P < 0. 001) ;
(P < 0. 001) , and the apoptosis rate , β ⁃Gal positivity rate and DCFH⁃DA fluorescence intensity in the Hudi enteric extract group were lower than those in the model group (P < 0. 05) . The protein expressions of CAT and SOD2 in the Hudi extract group were higher than those in the model group ( P < 0. 05) , and the protein expressions of p16 and p21 were lower than those in the model group (P < 0. 05) .
Conclusion
The mechanism of action of Hudi enteric capsules that attenuate radiation damage in IEC⁃6 cells may be related to the inhibition of reactive oxygen species production , reduction of oxidative stress , and attenuation of cellular senescence and apoptosis.

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2023;39(1):97-103
Objective To explore the diagnostic value of Young's modulus obtained by real-time shear wave elastography (SWE) for liver fibrosis in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) patients. Methods A total of 75 AIH patients in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2013 to April 2022 were retrospectively enrolled. Scheuer scoring system was used to evaluate degrees of liver fibrosis (S0-S4). By using pathological examination of liver tissues as the golden standard, the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was plotted and the area under the curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of SWE for the significant fibrosis (≥S2), advanced liver fibrosis (≥S3), and liver cirrhosis (S4), respectively. Independent sample t test was used for comparison of continuous data with normal distribution between the two groups. The Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between multiple groups and Bonferroni method was used for further comparison between two groups. The Spearman correlation coefficient was used for correlation analysis. The logistic regression analysis was used to predict the impact factors in diagnosis accuracy. Results The Young's modulus measured by SWE was statistically significant different among various fibrosis groups ( H =35.186, P < 0.001) although there was no statistical significance in patients' age and platelet, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, and glutamyl transpeptidase levels (all P > 0.05). The Young's modulus measurement was positively correlated with liver fibrosis ( r =0.675, P < 0.05). The AUCs of SWE in the diagnosis of≥S2, ≥S3, and S4 were 0.839, 0.820 and 0.898, respectively and the corresponding optimum cut-off values were 9.2, 10.9, and 14.4 kPa, respectively. The overall concordance rate of the liver Young' s modulus measurements vs . fibrosis stages was 57.33%. Moreover, the alkaline phosphatase level was an independent predictor for diagnostic accuracy of SWE for stage 0-1 fibrosis ( OR =1.009, 95% CI : 1.001-1.018, P =0.029). Conclusion The SWE possessed a diagnosis value for the significant fibrosis (≥S2), advanced liver fibrosis (≥S3) and liver cirrhosis (S4), although there was a low overall concordance rate in the liver Young's modulus measurements obtained using SWE vs. fibrosis stages.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(3):436-440
Objective:
To analyze the trends and influencing factors of endurance performance of 19-22 years old college students in Hunan Province from 1985 to 2019, so as to provide objective and scientific basis for sports and health work in colleges and universities.
Methods:
A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 14 490 college students aged 19-22 in Hunan Province from 8 consecutive National Student Physical Fitness and Health Surveys conducted from 1985 to 2019. The analysis indexes were 1 000 m running for boys and 800 m running for girls.
Results:
From 1985 to 2019, the endurance running time of 19-22 years old Han college students in Hunan Province showed an obvious trend of decline. The 1 000 m running time of urban and rural male students increased by 41.9 and 45.4 s on average, and the 800 m running time of urban and rural female students increased by 29.5 and 30.6 s on average, respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age ( β =0.17), urban students (rural students as reference; β =0.44), GDP ( β =0.94) and urbanization level ( β = 0.44 ) were positively correlated with the average endurance running time of males. Urban students ( β =0.92), GDP ( β = 1.38 ) and Engel coefficient ( β =0.93) were positively correlated with the average endurance running time of females. BMI ( β =-0.47) was negatively correlated with the females mean time of endurance running ( P <0.05).
Conclusion
The endurance performance of Han college students in Hunan Province showed a declining trend from 1985 to 2019,which is associated with age, urban and rural distribution, regional GDP, Engel s coefficient, urbanization level and BMI. Effective measures should be taken to improve the physical quality of college students.
