OBJECTIVE: Acupuncture therapies are known for their effectiveness in treating a variety of gastric diseases, although the mechanisms underlying these effects are not fully understood. This study tested the effectiveness of electroacupuncture (EA) at acupoints Zhongwan (RN12) and Weishu (BL21) for managing gastric motility disorder (GMD) and investigated the underlying mechanisms involved. METHODS: A GMD model was used to evaluate the impact of EA on various aspects of gastric function including the amplitude of gastric motility, electrogastrogram, food intake, and the rate of gastric emptying. Immunofluorescence techniques were used to explore the activation of spinal neurons by EA, specifically examining the presence of cholera toxin B subunit (CTB)-positive neurons and fibers emanating from acupoints RN12 and BL21. The stimulation of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic neurons in the spinal dorsal horn, the inhibition of sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the spinal lateral horn, and their collective effects on the activity of sympathetic nerves were examined. RESULTS: EA at RN12 and BL21 significantly improved gastric motility compromised by GMD. Notably, EA activated spinal neurons, with CTB-positive neurons and fibers from RN12 and BL21 being detectable in both the dorsal root ganglia and the spinal dorsal horn. Further analysis revealed that EA at these acupoints not only stimulated GABAergic neurons in the spinal dorsal horn but also suppressed sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the spinal lateral horn, effectively reducing excessive activity of sympathetic nerves triggered by GMD. CONCLUSION EA treatment at RN12 and BL21 effectively enhances gastric motility in a GMD model. The therapeutic efficacy of this approach is attributed to the activation of spinal neurons and the modulation of the spinal GABAergic-sympathetic pathway, providing a neurobiological foundation for the role of acupuncture in treating gastric disorders. Jumonji domain-containing protein D3(JMJD3)is a 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase that specif-ically removes transcriptional repression marks di-and tri-methylated groups from lysine 27 on histone 3(H3K27me2/3).The erasure of these marks leads to the activation of some associated genes,thereby influencing various biological processes,such as development,differentiation,and immune response.However,comprehensive descriptions regarding the relationship between JMJD3 and inflammation are lacking.Here,we provide a comprehensive overview of JMJD3,including its structure,functions,and involvement in inflammatory pathways.In addition,we summarize the evidence supporting JMJD3's role in several inflammatory diseases,as well as the potential therapeutic applications of JMJD3 inhibitors.Additionally,we also discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with investigating the functions of JMJD3 and developing targeted inhibitors and propose feasible solutions to provide valuable insights into the functional exploration and discovery of potential drugs targeting JMJD3 for inflammatory diseases.

Aim To compare the pharmacokinetics of pemirolast potassium tablets in healthy subjects in Chi-na under single fasting and postprandial conditions,and to evaluate the bioequivalence of the test prepara-tion(T)and the reference preparation(R).Methods A randomized,open-ended,single-dose,two-cycle,double-cross bioequivalence trial design was adopted,and 26 and 30 subjects were enrolled in the fasting group and the postprandial group,respectively,and 10 mg of the test preparation and the reference preparation were taken in the fasting or postprandial state each cy-cle,and venous blood was collected at the designed time points before and after the administration cycle.The concentration of pemirolast potassium in plasma was determined by LC-MS/MS method,and the phar-macokinetic parameters were calculated with PhoenixTM WinNonlin ?(8.3)software,and the bioequivalence analysis of the two preparations was performed.Re-sults The t1/2 of the test preparation and the reference preparation was(4.44±0.91)h and(4.49±0.93)h,respectively;the median tmax was(1.96±1.29)h and(2.18±1.25)h,respectively;the Cmax was(867.12±205.56)μg·L-1 and(863.35±172.03)μg·L-1,respectively;the AUC0-t was(5 513.23±1463.67)h·μg·L-1 and(5 661.32±1 628.65)h·μg·L-1,respectively;AUC0_∞ was(5 699.81±1477.68)h·μg·L-1 and(5 849.44±1 644.75)h·μg·L-1,respectively.The statistical results of the 90％confidence intervals of the main pharmacokinetic parameters Cmax,AUC0-t,and AUC0-∞ was 92.49％～107.53％,94.71％～100.67％and 95.28％～100.27％,respectively,all of which were within the range of 80.00％～125.00％,and the safety of the tested preparation and the reference preparation was good when taken orally on an empty stomach.The t1/2 of single oral administration after prandial administra-tion of the tested preparation and the reference prepara-tion was(4.46±0.78)and(4.51±0.84)h,respec-tively;the median tmax was(3.08±1.36)h and(3.28±1.28)h,respectively;the Cmax was(683.83±111.87)μg·L-1 and(689.77±110.24)μg·L-1,respectively;the AUC0-t was(5 695.99±1566.05)h·μg·L-1 and(5 773.60±1 551.04)h·μg·L-1,respectively;the AUC0-∞ was(5 914.06±1 551.86)h·μg·L-1 and(5 967.30±1552.89)h·μg·L-1,respectively.The 90％confi-dence interval of Cmax,AUC0-t,and AUC0-∞ was 93.56％～104.69％,96.43％～100.83％,and 97.29％～101.14％,respectively,which was in the range of 80.00％～125.00％,and the safety of the tested preparation and the reference preparation was good after meals.Conclusion In the state of fasting and postprandial single oral administration,the two kinds of pemirolast potassium tablets have good bio-equivalence.

OBJECTIVE: Omicron, a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variant, is responsible for numerous infections in China. This study investigates the association between the use of Seven-Flavor Herb Tea (SFHT) and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection to develop precise and differentiated strategies for control of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). METHODS: This case-control study was conducted at shelter hospitals and quarantine hotels in China. A total of 5348 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients were enrolled between April 1 and May 31, 2022, while 2190 uninfected individuals served as healthy controls. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data on demographics, underlying diseases, vaccination status, and use of SFHT. Patients were propensity-score-matched using 1:1 nearest-neighbor matching of the logit of the propensity score. Subsequently, a conditional logistic regression model was used for data analysis. RESULTS: Overall, 7538 eligible subjects were recruited, with an average age of [45.54 ± 16.94] years. The age of COVID-19 patients was significantly higher than that of uninfected individuals ([48.25 ± 17.48] years vs [38.92 ± 13.41] years; t = 22.437, P < 0.001). A total of 2190 COVID-19 cases were matched with uninfected individuals at a 1:1 ratio. The use of SFHT (odds ratio = 0.753, 95% confidence interval: 0.692, 0.820) was associated with a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to untreated individuals. CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that taking SFHT reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This is a useful study in the larger picture of COVID-19 management, but data from large-sample multi-center, randomized clinical trial are warranted to confirm the finding. Objective: Risk factors related to residual cancer or lymph node metastasis after endoscopic non-curative resection of early colorectal cancer were analyzed to predict the risk of residual cancer or lymph node metastasis, optimize the indications of radical surgical surgery, and avoid excessive additional surgical operations. Methods: Clinical data of 81 patients who received endoscopic treatment for early colorectal cancer in the Department of Endoscopy, Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 2009 to 2019 and received additional radical surgical surgery after endoscopic resection with pathological indication of non-curative resection were collected to analyze the relationship between various factors and the risk of residual cancer or lymph node metastasis after endoscopic resection. Results: Of the 81 patients, 17 (21.0%) were positive for residual cancer or lymph node metastasis, while 64 (79.0%) were negative. Among 17 patients with residual cancer or positive lymph node metastasis, 3 patients had only residual cancer (2 patients with positive vertical cutting edge). 11 patients had only lymph node metastasis, and 3 patients had both residual cancer and lymph node metastasis. Lesion location, poorly differentiated cancer, depth of submucosal invasion ≥2 000 μm, venous invasion were associated with residual cancer or lymph node metastasis after endoscopic (P<0.05). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that poorly differentiated cancer (OR=5.513, 95% CI: 1.423, 21.352, P=0.013) was an independent risk factor for residual cancer or lymph node metastasis after endoscopic non-curative resection of early colorectal cancer. Conclusions: For early colorectal cancer after endoscopic non-curable resection, residual cancer or lymph node metastasis is associated with poorly differentiated cancer, depth of submucosal invasion ≥2 000 μm, venous invasion and the lesions are located in the descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon and cecum with the postoperative mucosal pathology result. For early colorectal cancer, poorly differentiated cancer is an independent risk factor for residual cancer or lymph node metastasis after endoscopic non-curative resection, which is suggested that radical surgery should be added after endoscopic treatment.

Objective: To investigate the risk factors for the development of deep infiltration in early colorectal tumors (ECT) and to construct a prediction model to predict the development of deep infiltration in patients with ECT. Methods: The clinicopathological data of ECT patients who underwent endoscopic treatment or surgical treatment at the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from August 2010 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The independent risk factors were analyzed by multifactorial regression analysis, and the prediction models were constructed and validated by nomogram. Results: Among the 717 ECT patients, 590 patients were divided in the within superficial infiltration 1 (SM1) group (infiltration depth within SM1) and 127 patients in the exceeding SM1 group (infiltration depth more than SM1). There were no statistically significant differences in gender, age, and lesion location between the two groups (P>0.05). The statistically significant differences were observed in tumor morphological staging, preoperative endoscopic assessment performance, vascular tumor emboli and nerve infiltration, and degree of tumor differentiation (P<0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that only erosion or rupture (OR=4.028, 95% CI: 1.468, 11.050, P=0.007), localized depression (OR=3.105, 95% CI: 1.584, 6.088, P=0.001), infiltrative JNET staging (OR=5.622, 95% CI: 3.029, 10.434, P<0.001), and infiltrative Pit pattern (OR=2.722, 95% CI: 1.347, 5.702, P=0.006) were independent risk factors for the development of deep submucosal infiltration in ECT. Nomogram was constructed with the included independent risk factors, and the nomogram was well distinguished and calibrated in predicting the occurrence of deep submucosal infiltration in ECT, with a C-index and area under the curve of 0.920 (95% CI: 0.811, 0.929). Conclusion: The nomogram prediction model constructed based on only erosion or rupture, local depression, infiltrative JNET typing, and infiltrative Pit pattern has a good predictive efficacy in the occurrence of deep submucosal infiltration in ECT.

China is rich in antimony, boron, and vanadium mineral resources, which have been detected in environmental water bodies and drinking water. During the revision process of the "Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB5749-2006)", research and evaluation are focused on three indicators: antimony, boron and vanadium. Vanadium is added and the limit value of boron is adjusted. This study reviews and discusses the technical contents related to the revision of the antimony, boron and vanadium, including the environmental presence levels, exposure status, health effects, and the revision of the standard limits of these three indicators. Suggestions are also made for the implementation of this standard.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of endoscopic hand-suturing (EHS) for rectal defects closure after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and the clinical practicability of EHS combined with titanium clips. Methods: This is a prospective study performed by two experienced endoscopists from the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences who had received EHS training in sixporcine gastric ESD defects in vivo before the study. From December 2022 to February 2022, 20 patients with rectal mucosal lesions or submucosal diseases underwent ESD. Then EHS combined with titanium clips was adopted to close the rectal ESD defects. Specifically, we first sutured the defects as much as possible through EHS, then use titanium clips to fix the tail of the suture, and finally use additional titanium clips to close the residual parts of the defects that cannot be sutured. The main observational indicators were complete closure of the wound and delayed bleeding within one month after surgery. Results: In the 20 rectal cases, the size of defects ranged from 2.2 to 3.6 cm, with a median of 2.7 cm. All cases achieved complete closure without delayed bleeding, of which 12 (60.0%) were completely sutured with EHS and 8 (40.0%) required additional titanium clips to achieve complete closure after suturing. Conclusion: EHS technique is feasible and safe for rectum. EHS combined with titanium clips can also effectively close the rectal ESD defects, prevent postoperative delayed bleeding, and may be easier to be implemented in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVE To observe the changes in brain function characteristics of Chaihu Tongbian Decoction in rats with slow transit constipation(STC)and depression using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-fMRI).METHODS 70 healthy SPF grade male SD rats were randomly divided into the blank group,model group,mosapride group,fluoxetine hydrochloride group,low(11.02 g·kg-1),medium(22.05 g·kg-1),and high(44.1 g·kg-1)dose Chaihu Tongbian Decoction groups.A rat model of STC with depression was constructed using compound diphenylephrine tablets combined with solitary confinement and chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS).Drugs were administered after successful modeling.The general condition of the rats was observed;24 h total number of fecal particles,fecal water content and intestinal carbon end advance rate were calculated;HE staining of the co-lon tissue was performed;the depressive-like behavior of the rats was detected.By comparing rs-fMRI amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation(ALFF)values,the differences in neuronal activity in the brains of rats in each group were explored.RESULTS Com-pared with the blank group,the 24 h total number of fecal particles,fecal water content and intestinal carbon end advance rate in the model group were significantly reduced(P<0.01).HE staining showed that the colon tissue lesions in the model group were severe.Open field experiment and sugar water consumption showed that the activity level of rats in the model group decreased(P<0.01),and behavioral changes like anxiety and depression appeared.The rs-fMRI results showed that compared with the blank group,the ALFF value of the right posterolateral hippocampus in the model group decreased and the ALFF value of the left amygdala increased(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,after 4 weeks of treatment,the 24 h total number of fecal particles,fecal water content,and intestinal carbon end advance rate in the mosapride group and each dose group of Chaihu Tongbian Decoction were im-proved(P<0.05);compared with the model group,after 4 weeks of treatment,the fluoxetine hydrochloride group and each dose group of Chaihu Tongbian Decoction could improve the anxiety and depression-like behavior of rats(P<0.05);compared with the model group,after 4 weeks of treatment,the fluoxetine hydrochloride group and the high-dose Chaihu Tongbian Decoction group could in-crease the ALFF value of the right posterolateral hippocampus and decrease the ALFF value of the left amygdala(P<0.05).CON-CLUSION Chaihu Tongbian Decoction can effectively relieve constipation and depressive symptoms in STC rats with depression,and its mechanism may be related to activating the right posterolateral hippocampus and inhibiting amygdala activity.
