1.Hepatoprotective activity of Zha xun from different sources of origin

In this study, the pharmacodynamic substance basis of the therapeutic activity of different origin sources of the Tibetan medicinal herb Zha xun was evaluated, and the protective effect of the Zha xun, from Habahe county of Altay region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; Gilgit region, Pakistan; Lhozhag county of Lhozhag city, Tibet Autonomous Region; Lhorong county of Chamdo city, Tibet Autonomous Region; and Jiulong county of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, on 0.2% carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced acute liver injury in ICR mice was evaluated. The results showed that different sources of Zha xun significantly reduced serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the CCl4-induced acute oxidative liver injury model, improved liver histopathological damage. 2.Research progress on the relationship between platelets and periodontitis

Platelets, small cell fragments in the blood that prevent bleeding, are closely associated with hemostasis and thrombosis and play an important role in the inflammatory response. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by periodontopathogenic bacteria, resulting in local and systemic inflammatory responses that are associated with many systemic diseases. In recent years, several animal and human studies have demonstrated the correlation between periodontitis and platelets from three aspects: gingiva, and gingival crevicular fluid, and found that activated platelets play a very important role in the development and progression of periodontitis. Porphyromonas gingivalis and inflammatory mediators S100A8/A9 activate platelets, which then combine with leukocytes to form platelet-leukocyte aggregates. These aggregates can migrate into periodontal tissue, producing proinflammatory cytokines, thereby promoting the development and progression of periodontitis. Available studies also suggest that initial periodontal therapy reduces platelet activation and platelet-leukocyte aggregate formation, which may reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in patients with periodontitis. Additionally, studies found that antiplatelet drugs can inhibit periodontal inflammation and promote periodontal tissue repair and that P. gingivalis-induced expression of CD40L on platelets may be an important mediator between periodontitis and CVD. These reports suggest that platelets can serve as novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of periodontitis. This review aims to discuss the current literature on the correlation and interaction mechanisms between periodontitis and platelets.
3.Design and implementation of low-code platform for data services

Objective To design a low-code platform for data services to reduce the data interface service development costs and improve the development efficiency.Methods The platform was developed with Browser/Server(B/S)architecture,which used JAVA Spring Boot as its main framework and MySQL as the backend database system and had the functions for data source management,service catalog management,service management,service testing,service release management and service subscription management.Results The platform decreased the costs for interface development,operation and maintenance,lowered the technical threshold of interface development,unified the interface standard and enhanced hospital data security.Conclusion The platform developed provides support for hospital data interface service,digitalization and data services.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(4):13-19]
4.Construction and application of big data sharing platform for clinical scientific research

Objective To construct a big data sharing platform for clinical scientific research to solve the problems of clinical research in decentralized application systems and data sharing safety.Methods A clinical research information data usage management system was developed through the formulation of management methods in line with the actual situation of the institution,normalized standard data usage processes and a data usage service team.Then a clinical scientific research big data sharing platform including the components for sharing environment construction,research application integration,data desensitization and encryption and file management was established based on the existing hospital systems,the requirements of clinical research data usage management and the habits of clinical researchers.Results The platform realized the balance between open sharing of clinical research data and data security control,which improved the efficiency of clinical researchers while reducing data security risks during data transmission and data analysis.Conclusion The clinical scientific research big data sharing platform meets the needs of clinical scientific research application and data security management,and provides references for the co-construction-sharing of medical big data resources.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(4):27-31]
5.Application of teaching method based on Kolb's learning style theory in intensive care specialist nurse training

Objective:To analyze the learning styles of intensive care specialist nurses and to explore the application effects of the teaching method based on Kolb's learning style theory in intensive care specialist nurse training.Methods:Nurses who participated in the intensive care specialist nurse training in Chongqing during 2022 and 2023 were selected as the research subjects. Among them, the 49 nurses from 2022 were assigned to the control group, while the 50 nurses from 2023 were assigned to the experimental group. Before the training, the Kolb's Learning Style Scale was used to investigate the two groups of nurses. A new training method based on different learning styles was used in the experimental group, while the conventional training method was used in the control group. The theory, clinical practice, and satisfaction scores were compared between the two groups after training. SPSS 21.0 was used for the t-test, chi-square test, or Fisher's exact test. Results:The learning styles of the two groups were similar, with the highest proportion observed in divergent type, followed by assimilation type, and the lowest proportions in convergent type and compliant type, albeit without significant differences. The experimental group showed higher scores of theory, clinical practice, and satisfaction compared to the control group [(77.20±8.34) vs. (80.38±5.50), t=-2.24, P=0.027; (93.73±1.83) vs. (95.31±1.07), t=-5.20, P<0.001; (20.57±2.09) vs. (22.62±1.61), t=-5.46, P<0.001] Conclusion:The teaching method based on Kolb's learning style theory can improve the theory and clinical practice scores and the overall satisfaction of nurses who participate in the intensive care specialist nurse training.
6.Research status of intentional replantation fora single tooth with severe periodontal destruction

With the development of regeneration technology,intentional replantation(IR)has gradually become the important treat-ment.Some affected teeth that are difficult to be cured by conventional methods,such as refractory periapical periodontitis,radicular groove and combined periodontal-endodontic lesions,can be preserved through IR.IR is effective in the treatment of teeth with severe periodontal destruction.This article reviews the historical development,clinical operation and influencing factors,and provides refer-ence for exploring the treatment plan of IR for a single tooth with severe periodontal destruction and the preservation of patients'natural dentition.
7.Potential of new self-crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel on the recovery of endometrium after artificial abortion: a multicenter, prospective randomized controlled trial

Objective:To evaluate the impact of self-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (SCH) gel on endometrium recovery after artificial abortion.Methods:A multicenter, prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted across 18 hospitals from December 2021 to February 2023, involving 382 women who underwent artificial abortion. Participants were randomly allocated to receive either treatment with SCH gel (SCH group) or no treatment (control group) in a 1∶1 ratio. The primary outcome was endometrium thickness in 14 to 18 days after the first postoperative menstruation. Secondary outcomes included changes in menstrual volume during the first postoperative menstruation, menstruation resumption within 6 postoperative weeks, time to menstruation resumption, duration of the first postoperative menstruation, and incidence of dysmenorrhea.Results:Baseline characteristics of participants were comparable between the two groups (all P>0.05), with 95.3% (182/191) in SCH group and 92.7% (177/191) in the control group completed the study. The postoperative endometrial thickness in SCH group was significantly greater than that in the control group [(9.78±3.15) vs (8.95±2.32) mm; P=0.005]. SCH group also had significantly fewer participants with reduced menstrual volume [23 cases (12.6%, 23/182) vs 31 cases (17.5%, 31/177); P=0.038]. Although SCH group experienced less dysmenorrhea during the first postoperative menstrual period, this difference was not statistically significant [28.5% (51/179) vs 37.1% (65/175); P=0.083]. Outcomes were similar between SCH group and the control group regarding the proportion of participants who resumed menstruation within 6 weeks postoperatively, time to menstruation resumption, and duration of the first postoperative menstruation ( P=0.792, 0.485, and 0.254, respectively). No serious adverse events were observed during the study period, and no adverse events were attributed to SCH gel treatment. Conclusion:The application of SCH gel after artificial abortion is safe and might aid in the recovery of the endometrium.
8.Effect and mechanism of Bovis Calculus on ulcerative colitis by inhibiting IL-17/IL-17RA/Act1 signaling pathway.

This study aimed to elucidate the effect and underlying mechanism of Bovis Calculus in the treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC) through network pharmacological prediction and animal experimental verification. Databases such as BATMAN-TCM were used to mine the potential targets of Bovis Calculus against UC, and the pathway enrichment analysis was conducted. Seventy healthy C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a blank group, a model group, a solvent model(2% polysorbate 80) group, a salazosulfapyridine(SASP, 0.40 g·kg~(-1)) group, and high-, medium-, and low-dose Bovis Calculus Sativus(BCS, 0.20, 0.10, and 0.05 g·kg~(-1)) groups according to the body weight. The UC model was established in mice by drinking 3% dextran sulfate sodium(DSS) solution for 7 days. The mice in the groups with drug intervention received corresponding drugs for 3 days before modeling by gavage, and continued to take drugs for 7 days while modeling(continuous administration for 10 days). During the experiment, the body weight of mice was observed, and the disease activity index(DAI) score was recorded. After 7 days of modeling, the colon length was mea-sured, and the pathological changes in colon tissues were observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), and interleukin-17(IL-17) in colon tissues of mice were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The mRNA expression of IL-17, IL-17RA, Act1, TRAF2, TRAF5, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, CXCL1, CXCL2, and CXCL10 was evaluated by real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The protein expression of IL-17, IL-17RA, Act1, p-p38 MAPK, and p-ERK1/2 was investigated by Western blot. The results of network pharmacological prediction showed that Bovis Calculus might play a therapeutic role through the IL-17 signaling pathway and the TNF signaling pathway. As revealed by the results of animal experiments, on the 10th day of drug administration, compared with the solvent model group, all the BCS groups showed significantly increased body weight, decreased DAI score, increased colon length, improved pathological damage of colon mucosa, and significantly inhibited expression of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-1β, and IL-17 in colon tissues. The high-dose BCS(0.20 g·kg~(-1)) could significantly reduce the mRNA expression levels of IL-17, Act1, TRAF2, TRAF5, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, CXCL1, and CXCL2 in colon tissues of UC model mice, tend to down-regulate mRNA expression levels of IL-17RA and CXCL10, significantly inhibit the protein expression of IL-17RA,Act1,and p-ERK1/2, and tend to decrease the protein expression of IL-17 and p-p38 MAPK. This study, for the first time from the whole-organ-tissue-molecular level, reveals that BCS may reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines by inhibiting the IL-17/IL-17RA/Act1 signaling pathway, thereby improving the inflammatory injury of colon tissues in DSS-induced UC mice and exerting the effect of clearing heat and removing toxins.

9.Different rapid maxillary expansion methods in the treatment of adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.

Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a common sleep respiratory disorder characterized by upper respiratory collapse during sleep, with a high prevalence and potentially fatal complications. Currently, maxillary transverse deficiency are considered to be an important pathogenic factor of OSAHS. For patients with poor compliance with positive airway pressure therapy, rapid maxillary expansion can increase the volume and ventilation of the upper respiratory tract, which is an alternative treatment. This paper reviewed the current research on surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion, miniscrew assisted rapid palatal expansion, and distraction osteogenesis maxillary expansion in the treatment of adult OSAHS. By comparing the indications, contraindications, complications, efficacy and long-term stability of the three treatment methods, it provided reference for treatment of patients with OSAHS.

10.Identification of pathogenic variants in three Chinese patients with McCune-Albright syndrome.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the genetic basis for three Chinese patients with McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS).
METHODS:
Three children who had respectively presented at Shandong Provincial Hospital in April 2019 and Peking Union Medical College Hospital in August 2020 and May 2021 were selected as the research subjects. Peripheral blood samples of the probands and their family members were taken for the extraction of genomic DNA. Potential variants were screened by whole exome sequencing (WES), and candidate variants were validated by Sanger sequencing of the patients and their family members.
RESULTS:
The proband from family 1 was found to harbor a heterozygous c.601C>T (p.R201C) missense variant in exon 8 of the GNAS gene, whilst the probands from families 2 and 3 were both found to harbor a heterozygous c.602G>A (p.R201H) missense variant in exon 8 of the GNAS gene. Both variants were known to be pathogenic, and all probands were found to be mosaics for the corresponding variants but with various degrees.
CONSLUSION
WES can effectively diagnose MAS and other somatic genetic disorders. In this study, the combined WES and Sanger sequencing have verified the degree of mosaicisms of pathogenic variants in the three MAS patients, albeit no apparent correlation was found between the degree of mosaicisms and the phenotype of patients. Above finding has provided a basis for genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis for the affected families.
