Objective To investigate the morphological variation of Oncomelania hupensis shells in Yunnan Province, so as to provide insights into the understanding of O. hupensis genetic evolution and control. Methods According to the O. hupensis density, geographical location, altitude, water system and environmental type, 12 administrative villages were sampled from 10 schistosomiasis-endemic counties (districts) in 3 prefectures (cities) of Yunnan Province as snail collection sites. From December 2021 to January 2022, about 200 snails were collected from each collection site, among which thirty adult snails (6 to 7 spirals) were randomly selected from each site, and the 11 morphological indexes of snail shells were measured and subjected to cluster analysis and principal component analysis. Results Of O. hupensis snails from 12 localities of Yunnan Province, the longest shell (7.33 mm) was detected in snails from Yongle Village, Eryuan County, with the shortest (4.68 mm) in Dongyuan Village, Gucheng District, and the largest angle of apex (59.47°) was measured in snails from Caizhuang Village, Midu County, with the smallest (41.40°) in Qiandian Village, Eryuan County. The mean coefficient of variation was 9.075% among O. hupensis snails from 12 localities of Yunnan Province, with the largest coefficient of variation seen in the thickness of the labra brim (29.809%). Among O. hupensis snails from 12 localities of Yunnan Province, the mean Euclidean distance was 2.26, with the shortest Euclidean distance seen between O. hupensis snails from Qiandian Village of Eryuan County and Wuxing Village of Dali City (0.26), and the largest found between O. hupensis snails from Caizhuang Village of Midu County and Cangling Village of Chuxiong County (8.17). Cluster analysis and principal component analysis classified O. hupensis snails from 12 localities of Yunnan Province into three categories, including the O. hupensis snail samples from Caizhuang Village of Midu County, O. hupensis snail samples from Cangling Village of Chuxiong County, and O. hupensis snail samples from Qiandian Village of Eryuan County, Wuxing Village of Dali City, Yangwu Village of Yongsheng County, Xiaoqiao Village of Xiangyun County, Yongle Village of Eryuan County, Xiaocen Village of Dali City, Anding Village of Nanjian County, Dongyuan Village of Gucheng District, Lianyi Village of Heqing County, and Dianzhong Village of Weishan County. The variations in these three categories of snail samples were mainly measured in the principal component 2 related to the angle of apex and the thickness of the labra brim. Conclusions The variations in the Euclidean distance and morphological features of shells of O. hupensis from 12 localities of Yunnan Province gradually rise with the decrease in the latitude of the collection sites. The angle of apex is an indicator for the growth of O. hupensis whorl.

Objective To investigate the radiological and clinicopathological factors affecting the postoperative recurrence of early lung adenocarcinoma with micropapillary/solid structure. Methods A total of 198 patients undergoing surgical resection for early stage lung adenocarcinoma in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2016 to August 2019 were enrolled, including 100 males and 98 females, aged 28-82 (53.5±9.5) years. All patients were allocated to a recurrence group (n=21) and a non-recurrence group (n=177) according to postoperative recurrence status. Correlations of imaging and clinical features and clinical outcomes were analyzed to determine prognostic significance. Results The mean follow-up time was 27.0±11.2 months. There was no statistical difference in the imaging features of tumor maximum diameter in mediastinal window (P=0.014), C/T ratio (P=0.001), bronchial positive sign (P=0.015), pathological features of vascular invasion (P=0.024) and postoperative chemotherapy (P<0.001) between the two groups. In multivariate analysis, vascular invasion was the only independent prognostic factor (OR=0.146, P=0.047). Conclusion Vascular invasion is an independent risk factor for postoperative recurrence of early-stage lung adenocarcinoma with micropapillary/solid structure.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the value of four-chamber view (4CV) and three-vessel trachea view (3VTV) combined with HD-flow in screening for fetal cardiovascular mailformations (CVMs) in unselected population during early pregnancy (11~13+6 weeks). MethodsFrom May 2018 to December 2019, 1145 fetuses were ultrasonic scanned routinely at 11~13+6 weeks at our hospital. The 4CV and 3VTV of fetal hearts were assessed by Power Doppler with flow direction (high definition flow, HD-flow),and the sonographic findings and follow-up outcomes were documented. Suspected CVMs were confirmed by the postpartum echocardiography or autopsy results. The sensitivities, specificities, PPVs and NPVs of diagnostic tests were compared among the two views and combined views. ResultsThere were 948 fetuses included in this study, with 19 cases of CVMs. The sonographic findings of 12 cases (12/19) with 22 CVMs were consistent entirely with the follow-up outcomes, including 7 cases of complex CVMs. In 1 case (1/19) with complex CVM, the diagnosis was not entirely consistent to the autopsy result. The 6 cases (6/19) of abnormal atrioventricular septum were not detected in early pregnancy. In the 19 cases of CVMs, abnormalities were found by displaying 4CV in 8 cases, by displaying 3VTV in 11 cases, and by displaying 4CV combined with 3VTV in 13 cases. The sensitivity of 4CV, 3VTV, 4CV+3VTV was 31.5%, 57.9%, 68.4%, with significant difference between 4CV and 4CV+3VTV(P=0.016) .The specificity and PPVs were all 100% (P>0.05). The NPVs of them were 98.6%, 99.1% and 99.4%, with no statistical difference (P>0.05). ConclusionsDisplaying the 4CV combined with 3VTV of fetal heart in the first-trimester ultrasound examination resulted in higher detect ratio of fetal cardiovascular malformations rather than scanning only with the 4CV, especially for those serious CVMs with poor prognosis, which is important for clinical management appropriately.

T cell immune receptor with Ig and ITIM domains (TIGIT), a promising new target in cancer immunotherapy, plays a critical role in limiting adaptive and innate immunity against tumors. The extracellular domain of human TIGIT was used to immune BALB/c mice, and a new anti-human TIGIT chimeric antibody (c7D3) was developed. The mice in this study were used in accordance with the international guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals, and the animal study was approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee of AbMax Biotechnology. The biological activity of c7D3 was studied. The results showed that c7D3 exhibited high affinity for TIGIT and effectively inhibited the interaction between TIGIT and its ligands. Cell-based assays indicated that c7D3 induced strong luciferase signaling in TIGIT/CD155 signaling reporter assay and enhanced cytokine secretion in a T cell stimulation assay. The data showed that c7D3 has high binding affinity and excellent blocking bioactivity, supporting the further advancement for therapeutic application.

Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of children with Burkitt lymphoma (BL) and to summarize the mid-term efficacy of China Net Childhood Lymphoma-mature B-cell lymphoma 2017 (CNCL-B-NHL-2017) regimen. Methods: Clinical features of 436 BL patients who were ≤18 years old and treated with the CNCL-B-NHL-2017 regimen from May 2017 to April 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. Clinical characteristics of patients at disease onset were analyzed and the therapeutic effects of patients with different clinical stages and risk groups were compared. Survival analysis was performed by Kaplan-Meier method, and Cox regression was used to identify the prognostic factors. Results: Among 436 patients, there were 368 (84.4%) males and 68 (15.6%) females, the age of disease onset was 6.0 (4.0, 9.0) years old. According to the St. Jude staging system, there were 4 patients (0.9%) with stage Ⅰ, 30 patients (6.9%) with stage Ⅱ, 217 patients (49.8%) with stage Ⅲ, and 185 patients (42.4%) with stage Ⅳ. All patients were stratified into following risk groups: group A (n=1, 0.2%), group B1 (n=46, 10.6%), group B2 (n=19, 4.4%), group C1 (n=285, 65.4%), group C2 (n=85, 19.5%). Sixty-three patients (14.4%) were treated with chemotherapy only and 373 patients (85.6%) were treated with chemotherapy combined with rituximab. Twenty-one patients (4.8%) suffered from progressive disease, 3 patients (0.7%) relapsed, and 13 patients (3.0%) died of treatment-related complications. The follow-up time of all patients was 24.0 (13.0, 35.0) months, the 2-year event free survival (EFS) rate of all patients was (90.9±1.4) %. The 2-year EFS rates of group A, B1, B2, C1 and C2 were 100.0%, 100.0%, (94.7±5.1) %, (90.7±1.7) % and (85.9±4.0) %, respectively. The 2-year EFS rates was higher in group A, B1, and B2 than those in group C1 (χ2=4.16, P=0.041) and group C2 (χ2=7.21, P=0.007). The 2-year EFS rates of the patients treated with chemotherapy alone and those treated with chemotherapy combined with rituximab were (79.3±5.1)% and (92.9±1.4)% (χ2=14.23, P<0.001) respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that stage Ⅳ (including leukemia stage), serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)>4-fold normal value, and with residual tumor in the mid-term evaluation were risk factors for poor prognosis (HR=1.38,1.23,8.52,95%CI 1.05-1.82,1.05-1.43,3.96-18.30). Conclusions: The CNCL-B-NHL-2017 regimen show significant effect in the treatment of pediatric BL. The combination of rituximab improve the efficacy further.

Objective:
Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.
Methods:
A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients' medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio (
Results:
Overall, 158 (13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32 (2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension (2.87, 1.30-6.32), type 2 diabetes (T2DM) (3.57, 2.32-5.49), cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3.78, 1.81-7.89), fatty liver disease (7.53, 1.96-28.96), hyperlipidemia (2.15, 1.26-3.67), other lung diseases (6.00, 3.01-11.96), and electrolyte imbalance (10.40, 3.00-26.10) were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2DM (6.07, 2.89-12.75), CVD (8.47, 6.03-11.89), and electrolyte imbalance (19.44, 11.47-32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission (5.46, 3.25-9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes (6.58, 1.46-29.64) within two weeks.
Conclusion
Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.

Chinese Journal of Pathology 2019;48(6):444-447
Objective:
To study the clinicopathological characteristics, immunophenotype, pathologic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of diffuse pulmonary meningotheliomatosis (DPM).
Methods:
The clinical data, histological features and immunohistochemical results of three cases of DPM collected from January 2016 to May 2018 at Guangdong Provincial People′s Hospital were analyzed, and the relevant literature reviewed.
Results:
The three DPM patients age was 53, 69 and 74 years. The lesions consisted of multiple minute pulmonary meningothelial-like nodules profusely involving the lungs. Microscopically, they showed typical morphology, characterized by medium-sized elongated tumor cells resembling meningothelial cells with whorled/nested clusters. The cells were uniform and had abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm with oval nuclei with delicate chromatin. Immunohistochemical staining showed tumor cells were diffusely and strongly positive for EMA, vimentin and PR, but were negative for CAM5.2, CgA, Syn, CK7 and TTF1.
Conclusions
DPM is extremely rare, and may be confused with primary interstitial pulmonary processes and metastatic malignant tumors of lung. Recognition of this entity is essential for pathologists to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Traditional Medical Formulae 2019;25(11):80-85
Objective:To observe the effect of Changji'an prescription on intestinal permeability in diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) rats and explore its mechanism for treatment of IBS-D. Method:Male SD neonatal rats were randomly divided into five groups:normal group, model group, pinaverium bromide group(0.018 g·kg-1), high-dose(33.48 g·kg-1) and low-dose (16.74 g·kg-1)Changji'an prescription groups. Except for the normal group, the IBS-D model was established by the combination of maternal and infant separation+acetic acid stimulation+restraint stress. After drug treatment, the ultrastructure of rat intestinal mucosa was observed by using transmission electron microscopy and the plasma D-lactate level was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expression levels of tight junction proteins Occludin and Claudin-1 were detected by Western blot. The mRNA expression levels of Occludin,Claudin-1 and zonula occluden(ZO)-1 were detected by real time polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). Result:As compared with the normal group, the intestinal mucosal epithelial cells were damaged in IBS-D model group, and the microvilli arrangement was sparse and tight junction was widened, and some were not obvious, and the plasma D-lactate level in IBS-D rats was increased significantly (P<0.05),and the mRNA and protein expression levels of Occludin and Claudin-1 in the colon were decreased and the mRNA expression of ZO-1 was also decreased (P<0.05). After drug treatment, as compared with the model group, all drug-administered groups can repair intestinal mucosal cell damage. Plasma D-lactate level in pinaverium bromide group and high-dose Changji'an prescription group was significantly decreased (P<0.05) while D-lactate level in the low-dose group Changji'an prescription group had a tendency to decrease with no statistical difference. The mRNA and protein expression levels of Occludin and Claudin-1 and the mRNA expression of ZO-1 in the colon of rats in each administration group were higher than those in the model group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of Changji'an prescription on IBS-D may be achieved by improving the intestinal permeability.
