Objective: To compare the short-term and long-term outcomes between robotic-assisted and laparoscopic-assisted radical right hemicolectomy in patients with adenocarcinoma of the right colon. Methods: Retrospective review of a prospectively collected database identified 288 right colon cancer patients who underwent either robotic-assisted (n=57) or laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy (n=231) between October 2014 and October 2020 at Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. There were 161 males and 127 females, aging (60.3±12.8) years (range: 17 to 86 years). After propensity score matching as 1∶4 between robotic-assisted and laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy, there were 56 cases in robotic group and 176 cases in laparoscipic group. Perioperative outcomes and overall survival were compared between the two groups using t test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, χ2 test, Fisher exact test, Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test, respectively. Results: The total operative time was similar between the robotic and laparoscopic group ((206.9±60.7) minutes vs. (219.9±56.3) minutes, t=-1.477, P=0.141). Intraoperative bleeding was less in the robotic group (50 (20) ml vs. 50 (50) ml, Z=-4.591, P<0.01), while the number of lymph nodes retrieved was significantly higher (36.0±10.0 vs. 29.0±10.1, t=4.491, P<0.01). Patients in robotic group experienced significantly shorter hospital stay, shorter time to first flatus, and defecation (t: -2.888, -2.946, -2.328, all P<0.05). Moreover, the overall peri-operative complication rate was similar between robotic and laparoscopic group (17.9% vs. 22.7%, χ²=0.596,P=0.465). The 3-year overall survival were 92.9% and 87.9% respectively and the 3-year disease-free survival rates were 83.1% and 82.6% with no statistical significance between the robotic and laparoscopic group (P>0.05). Conclusions: Compared to laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy, robot-assisted right hemicolectomy could improve some short-term clinical outcomes. The two procedures are both achieving comparable survival.

The study was designed to investigate the effect of IMPDH1 gene polymorphism on the pharmacodynamics of mycophenolic acid in the renal transplant patients. 315 patients with renal transplantation were treated with triple immunotherapy (mycophenolic acid + tacrolimus + prednisone). The Agena MassARRAY assay was used to detect the IMPDH1 genotypes in patients above. The plasma drug concentration of mycophenolic acid (MPA) and its main metabolite mycophenolic acid glucuronide (MPAG) was detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The correlation between IMPDH1 gene polymorphism (rs10954183, rs12536006, rs13242340, rs2278293, rs2288549) and rejection and postoperative infection in renal transplant recipients were analyzed by SPSS 21 software. The result showed that IMPDH1 rs2288549 GG is a risk factor for acute rejection after renal transplantation (P<0.05), and IMPDH1 rs2278293 CT is a risk factor for infection after renal transplantation (P<0.05). Above all, IMPDH1 rs2288549 is an important factor of acute rejection after renal transplantation, IMPDH1 rs2278293 is an important factor affecting the emergence of infection after renal transplantation. The SNPs may help to optimize clinical medication to reduce the incidence of adverse reaction.

OBJECTIVETo observe amplitude changes of low frequency fluctuation in brain spontaneous nervous activities induced by needling at Hand Taiyin Lung Channel, and to preliminarily explore the possible brain function network of Hand Taiyin Lung Channel.
METHODSBy using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), 16 healthy volunteers underwent resting-state scanning (R1) and scanning with retained acupuncture at Hand Taiyin Lung Channel (acupuncture, AP). Data of fMRI collected were statistically calculated using amplitude of low frequency fluctuations (ALFF).
RESULTSUnder R1 significantly enhanced ALFF occurred in right precuneus, left inferior parietal lobule, bilateral superior temporal gyrus, bilateral middle frontal gyrus, left superior frontal gyrus, left inferior frontal gyrus, left medial frontal gyrus. Under AP significantly enhanced ALFF occurred in right precuneus, bilateral superior frontal gyrus, cerebellum, bilateral middle frontal gyrus, right medial frontal gyrus, and so on. Compared with R1, needing at Hand Taiyin Lung Channel could significantly enhance ALFF in right gyrus subcallosum and right inferior frontal gyrus. Significant decreased ALFF appeared in right postcentral gyrus, left precuneus, left superior temporal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, and so on.
CONCLUSIONNeeding at Hand Taiyin Lung Channel could significantly change fixed activities of cerebral cortex, especially in right subcallosal gyrus, right inferior frontal gyrus, and so on.

Vaccination is the primary strategy for the prevention and control of pandemic influenza. Because influenza virus is highly variable across strains, universal influenza vaccines need to be developed to address this problem. This review describes the research progress in conserved epitopes of influenza virus, the advances in the research and development of universal influenza vaccines based on the relatively conserved sequences of NP, M2e, HA2, and headless HA, the mechanisms of cross-protection, and the methods to improve cross-protection.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture(EA) for apoplectic urinary incontinence.
METHODSTwo hundred and four cases of apoplectic urinary incontinence were randomized into an EA group (136 cases) and an indwelling catheter group (68 cases). The EA was applied at Qugu (CV 2), Zhongji (CV 3), Shuidao (ST 28), Qihai (CV 6) and Guanyuan (CV 4), etc. in the EA group,5 times a week. Indwelling catheter was applied in the indwelling catheter group at intervals of 2-4 hours, and periodic bladder irrigation along with bladder rehabilitation training were also given. The efficacies were evaluated after 4 weeks of treatment. Before and after treatment, the urination diary (including the interval of urination, nocturia frequency, urination difficulty, urinary incontinence severity), bladder capacity, patients' satisfaction of the two groups were observed and the efficacy was evaluated.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 96.2% (125/130) in the EA group, which was apparently superior to 87.5% (56/64) in the indwelling catheter group (P < 0.05); except for nocturia frequency in the indwelling catheter group, the total score and the subitem score in the urination diary were all improved significantly after treatment in both groups (all P < 0.001), which were more obvious in the EA group (P < 0.001, P < 0.05); the patients' satisfaction and bladder capacity were all improved significantly after treatment in both groups (all P < 0.001), which were more obvious in the EA group (both P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONThe EA has an obvious effect for apoplectic urinary incontinence in urinary incontinence alleviation and bladder capacity increase, which has better efficacy than indwelling catheter therapy.

Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2013;16(3):247-250
OBJECTIVETo study the clinicopathologic features and prognostic factors of gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST).
METHODSClinicopathologic data of 247 patients with GIST from January 2003 to November 2012 in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College, and the prognostic factors were evaluated retrospectively by univariate and multivariate analysis with Log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard model.
RESULTSPatients were followed up with a median time of 26 months (1 to 113 months). Twenty-six patients developed recurrence or metastasis, and 18 died of GIST. The 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates were 94%, 91% and 83% respectively. Univariate analysis showed that age, tumor location, tumor size, mitotic count and tumor rupture were predictive factors of survival after resection of primary GIST (all P<0.01). For patients at intermediate and high risk to relapse, imatinib group had a higher 5-year overall survival rate than non-imatinib group (85.7% vs. 81.0%, P<0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that tumor size (RR=2.248, 95%CI:1.081-4.677, P=0.030), mitotic count (RR=2.220, 95%CI:1.032-4.776, P=0.041) and tumor rupture (RR=5.183, 95%CI:1.677-16.017, P=0.004) were independent prognostic factors.
CONCLUSIONSTumor size, mitotic count and tumor rupture affect the prognosis after resection of primary GIST independently. Imatinib adjuvant therapy can improve overall survival of patients at intermediate and high risk to relapse after surgery.

Background Optic neuropathy is one of the diabetic eye complications.Rosiglitazone,a peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ(PPARγ) agonist, plays a very important role in arresting the pathogenesis and development of diabetes. However, the role of PPARγ in diabetic optic neuropathy is unclear. Objective This study was to investigate the protective effect of rosiglitazone against diabetic optic neuropathy and its mechanism. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the control group, diabetic group and rosiglitazone group, with 10 rats for each group.Diabetic models were induced by injecting 50 mg/kg of streptozotocin via the caudal vein, and rosiglitazone(5 ng/[kg· d])was used in the rats of the rosiglitazone group by intragastric administration every day for four weeks. At the end of the experiment, the fasting blood sugar(FBS) was tested in all the animals. The level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in the blood plasma was detected by ELISA.Optical neural tissues were obtained from the rats of each group, and Lauck fast Blue myelin stain was used to examine the morphology of the optical myelin. The expression of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) mRNA and protein in the optic nerve was detected by real time PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results The levels of FBS,blood plasma VEGF,NCAM mRNA and protein in the optic nerve were significantly different among the control group, diabetic model group and the rosiglitazone group after the administration of 5 nmg/(kg · d) rosiglitazone for 4 weeks (F =6.12,P<0.01 ; F =5.14,P<0.05 ; F =4.75,P<0.05 ; F =4.87,P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the level of FBS significantly increased in the diabetic model group(t =2.26,P<O.05),and that in the rosiglitazone group significantly declined in comparison with the diabetic model group(t=2.08,P<0.05).The optic nerve exhibited a normal morphology in the control group as revealed by the Lauck fast Blue myelin staining;however, severe demyelination of the optic nerve and proliferation of glial cells were found in the diabetic model group, and mild demyelination of the optic nerve and proliferation of glial cells were seen in the rosiglitazone group.Blood plasma VEGF was(28.76±4.21)ng/L in the control group and(134.28±11.36)ng/L in the diabetic model group, showing a significant difference between them (t=2.36,P < 0.05).Compared with the model group, the blood plasma VEGF was significantly lower in the rosiglitazone group ([42.67 ± 5.83] ng/L) than that in the diabetic model group (t =2.17,P< 0.05).Expression of NCAM mRNA and protein in the optic nerve significantly decreased in the diabetic model group compared with the control group(t =2.21,t =2.58,both at P<0.05);while those in the rosiglitazone group were significantly elevated in comparison with the diabetic model group(t =2.19,t =2.67,both at P<O.05).Conclusions Rosiglitazone can protect optic nerve from damage in diabetic rats mainly by downregulating blood plasma VEGF level and upregulating NCAM expression.
