Objective:To investigate the teaching effect of flipped classroom combined with problem-based learning (PBL) in the teaching of the Diagnostic Audiology course. Methods:A total of 72 undergraduate students majoring in audiology and speech rehabilitation in the classes of 2019 and 2020 in Chongqing Medical University were enrolled as subjects, and three chapters of the Diagnostic Audiology course were selected for teaching reform. The 34 students in the class of 2019 were enrolled as control group and received lecture-based learning (LBL), and the 38 students in the class of 2020 were enrolled as experimental group and received flipped classroom combined with PBL. The teaching effect was evaluated by comparing the two groups in terms of classroom test scores, classroom participation scores, degree of satisfaction with teaching effect, and overall satisfaction with teaching. SPSS 23.0 software was used to perform the t-test, the chi-square test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results:The experimental group had a significantly higher classroom test score than the control group (25.95±1.21 vs. 23.21±1.55, P<0.001). In terms of classroom participation scores, the experimental group had significantly higher scores of participation in class discussion, cooperative and collaborative abilities, and questioning skills than the control group (all P<0.001). In terms of the degree of satisfaction with teaching, compared with the control group, the experimental group had significantly higher degrees of satisfaction in the dimensions such as interest in learning, mastery of theoretical knowledge, teamwork and collaboration abilities, self-learning ability, and self-presentation ( P=0.005, 0.009, 0.001, 0.016, and 0.005). In addition, the experimental group had a significantly higher degree of overall satisfaction with teaching than the control group ( P=0.006). Conclusion:Flipped classroom combined with PBL has a good teaching effect in the Diagnostic Audiology course and thus holds promise for further application.

ObjectiveTo explore the sensory processing characteristics of preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and to provide a theoretical basis for early screening and intervention training of ASD. MethodsA total of 215 preschool children with ASD and170 typically developed (TD) children were investigated with a basic situation questionnaire and sensory processing measure (SPM). The two groups were stratified according to age and gender, and the differences of scores in sensory domains were compared to analyze the sensory processing characteristics of preschool children with ASD. ResultsThe scores of social participation, vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell, body awareness, balance and motion, planning and ideas, and total sensory system in children with ASD were all higher than those in children with TD (all P<0.01). The highest degree of abnormality was found in hearing and the lowest degree in taste and smell in children with ASD. The results of Spearman correlation analysis showed that in the 4-year-old and 5-year-old children with ASD, the scores of vision (rs=-0.200, P= 0.033) and hearing (rs=-0.194, P=0.040) decreased with age. There was no correlation between the scores of other developmental quotients and age (all P>0.05). Boys and girls with ASD had higher scores in all developmental quotients than TD children (P<0.01). However, there was no significant gender difference in any developmental quotients of ASD children (all P>0.05). ConclusionSensory processing abnormalities are common in preschool children with ASD, which are different from those of TD children in multiple sensory domains. Sensory processing abnormalities may be used as an indicator for early screening of ASD, and it is necessary to conduct corresponding intervention training for sensory processing abnormalities in children with ASD.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2012;26(19):897-900

		                        			OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of Forkhead Box M1 transcription factor (FoxM1) mRNA and protein in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and its clinical significance.

		                        			METHOD:
Immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of FoxM1 in 89 LSCC tissues, 89 adjacent normal tissues and 20 laryngeal papilloma (LP) tissues. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to examine the expression of FoxM1 in 20 LSCC tissues, 20 LP tissues and 20 adjacent normal tissues. The relationship between FoxM1 expression and the clinicopathological parameters of LSCC were analyzed.

		                        			RESULT:
FoxM1 mRNA and protein expression were gradually decreased from LSCC to LP and normal tissues. The difference was significant (P<0.05). There was a significantly correlation between FoxM1 and histologic differentiation, T stage, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage. Tumors with poorer differentiation, in higher T stage, with lymph node metastasis or in higher clinical stage presented higher FoxM1 expression than tumors with better differentiation, in lower T stage, without lymph node metastasis or in lower clinical stage (P<0.05). The positive expression of FoxM1 was not related with the age, gender or primary site of LSCC patients (P>0.05).

		                        			CONCLUSION
The up-regulation of FoxM1 may play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of LSCC.

BACKGROUND: There have been no reports in CNKI database addressing the cellular apoptosis caused by stainless steel materials used in the dental magnetic attachment. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of 3 stainless steel materials used in the dental magnetic attachment, cobalt-chromium alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel on L-929 cell apoptosis. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A comparative observation was performed at the Central Laboratory of China Medical University between June and December 2007. MATERIALS: Mouse L-929 fibroblasts in logarithmic growth phase were provided by Institute of Tumor, First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, China. Cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy was purchased from Heraeus-Kulzer Corporation, China. Titanium alloy was obtained from Morita Company, Japan. Austenitio stainless steel was provided by Institute of Mental Research Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. METHODS: The leaching liquor of Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel was made by culturing 3 kinds of round-slice mental materials in 24-well plate with RPMI-1640 medium at 0.1 mL/cm2 (leaching liquor volume: specimen surface area). L-929 fibroblasts were divided into 5 groups: Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, austenitic stainless steel, negative control, and positive control. The Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel groups were cultured with corresponding leaching liquor (250, 500, and 1 000 g/L). Cells from the negative control and positive control groups were cultured with simple RPMI 1640 medium and 100 mg/L mitomycin-treated L-929 cells. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Following 24-hour culture, the effects of 3 kinds of leaching liquor (at different concentrations) on L-929 fibroblasts were examined through the use of flow cytometer. RESULTS: There was significant difference in cellular apoptosis between Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel groups at the same concentration or between different concentrations for the same dental material (P < 0.01), but no significant difference existed between titanium-alloy (250 g/L) and negative control groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel have apparent influence on cellular apoptosis. The apoptosis rate is the greatest in the Co-Cr alloy group, followed by austenitic stainless steel group, and lastly titanium alloy group.

Seventy patients, who received type Ⅱ restoration of mandibular first molars in Department of Stomatology, Third People's Hospital of Shenyang, were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, which were treated with silver amalgam filling and cobalt-chromium inlay, separately. The patients were followed up for 2 years to evaluate clinical outcomes such as marginal color, marginal adaptation, contour, secondary caries, and breakage of dental prosthetic restoration. The findings showed that cobalt-chromium inlay had better effect in marginal color, marginal adaptation and contour in class Ⅱcavity restoration than silver amalgam filling, and no material reaction or host reaction was found by two methods. This indicates that both kinds of materials have good biocompatibility, and cobalt-chromium inlay in the restoration of dental defect shows a more promising prospect.
