		                        			OBJECTIVES:
Shelter hospital was an alternative way to provide large-scale medical isolation and treatment for people with mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Due to various reasons, patients admitted to the large shelter hospital was reported high level of psychological distress, so did the healthcare workers. This study aims to introduce a comprehensive and multifaceted psychosocial crisis intervention model.

		                        			METHODS:
The psychosocial crisis intervention model was provided to 200 patients and 240 healthcare workers in Wuhan Wuchang shelter hospital. Patient volunteers and organized peer support, client-centered culturally sensitive supportive care, timely delivery of scientific information about COVID-19 and its complications, mental health knowledge acquisition of non-psychiatric healthcare workers, group activities, counseling and education, virtualization of psychological intervention, consultation and liaison were exhibited respectively in the model. Pre-service survey was done in 38 patients and 49 healthcare workers using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire 2-item (PHQ-2) scale, and the Primary Care PTSD screen for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (PC-PTSD-5). Forty-eight healthcare workers gave feedback after the intervention.

		                        			RESULTS:
The psychosocial crisis intervention model was successfully implemented by 10 mental health professionals and was well-accepted by both patients and healthcare workers in the shelter hospital. In pre-service survey, 15.8% of 38 patients were with anxiety, 55.3% were with stress, and 15.8% were with depression; 16.3% of 49 healthcare workers were with anxiety, 26.5% were with stress, and 22.4% were with depression. In post-service survey, 62.5% of 48 healthcare workers thought it was very practical, 37.5% thought more practical; 37.5% of them thought it was very helpful to relief anxiety and insomnia, and 27.1% thought much helpful; 37.5% of them thought it was very helpful to recognize patients with anxiety and insomnia, and 29.2% thought much helpful; 35.4% of them thought it was very helpful to deal with patients' anxiety and insomnia, and 37.5% thought much helpful.

		                        			CONCLUSIONS
Psychological crisis intervention is feasible, acceptable, and associated with positive outcomes. Future tastings of this model in larger population and different settings are warranted.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a common complication and an independent risk factor for death in patients with liver cirrhosis. Brain lactate level is associated with the progression and severity of HE, and research on brain lactate level may help to further explain the pathogenesis of HE. This article summarizes the metabolic process of brain lactate, the association between brain lactate level and HE, and the potential therapeutic targets for HE and provides a reference for clinicians to further systematically evaluate the progression, treatment outcome, and prognosis of patients with HE, in order to reduce the medical burden of patients and improve the prognosis of patients with HE.

Objective: To investigate the expression of galectin-3 protein in human breast cancer tissues and the effect of silencing galectin-3 gene on the migration, invasion and apoptosis of human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. Methods: The relative expression of galectin-3 protein in 15 cases of breast cancer tissues and corresponding para-cancerous tissues were detected by Western blotting; The expression of galectin-3 protein in paraffin sections of 100 cases of breast cancer tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry, and the correlation between galectin-3 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer patients was also analyzed. Galectin-3 siRNA were transfected into human breast cancer MCF-7 cells by liposome, then Real-time PCR and Western blotting were used to detect the mRNA and protein expression of galectin-3. The effect of galectin-3 gene silencing on cell migration and invasion ability of MCF-7 cells were detected by Transwell method. The effect of galectin-3 gene silencing on apoptosis of MCF-7 cells were detected by flow cytometry. Results: Western blotting detection showed that the relative expression of galectin-3 protein in breast cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in para-cancerous tissues (P<0.05); Immunohistochemistry detection showed that the positive expression rate of galectin-3 protein in breast cancer tissues was 67.00%, the positive expression rates in the lymph node metastasis, hormone receptor (ER, PR) negative groups were significantly higher (P<0.05), and the positive expression rate of galectin-3 protein were increased with the increase of TNM stage and histological grade (P<0.05); Galectin-3 siRNA transfection could significantly reduce the mRNAand protein expression of galectin-3 in MCF-7 cells (P<0.05), and reduce the invasion and migration ability but significantly improve the rate of apoptosis of MCF-7 cells (P<0.05). Conclusion: Galectin-3 is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues, and its silence can inhibit the invasion and metastasis of MCF-7 cells and induce apoptosis of MCF-7 cells. Galectin-3 can be used as a new target for biological therapy of breast cancer.

Background:The prognostic values of staging parameters require continual re?assessment amid changes in diag?nostic and therapeutic methods. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors and failure patterns of non?meta?static nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in the intensity?modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) era. Methods:We reviewed the data from 749 patients with newly diagnosed, biopsy?proven, non?metastatic NPC in our cancer center (South China, an NPC endemic area) between January 2003 and December 2007. All patients under?went magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before receiving IMRT. The actuarial survival rates were estimated using the Kaplan–Meier method, and survival curves were compared using the log?rank test. Multivariate analyses with the Cox proportional hazards model were used to test for the independent prognostic factors by backward eliminating insigniifcant explanatory variables. Results:The 5?year occurrence rates of local failure, regional failure, locoregional failure, and distant failure were 5.4, 3.0, 7.4, and 17.4%, respectively. The 5?year survival rates were as follows: local relapse?free survival, 94.6%; nodal relapse?free survival, 97.0%; distant metastasis?free survival, 82.6%; disease?free survival, 75.1%; and overall survival, 82.0%. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that orbit involvement was the only signiifcant prognostic fac?tor for local failure (P=0.011). Parapharyngeal tumor extension, retropharyngeal lymph node involvement, and the laterality, longest diameter, and Ho’s location of the cervical lymph nodes were signiifcant prognostic factors for both distant failure and disease failure (allP<0.05). Intracranial extension had signiifcant prognostic value for distant failure (P=0.040). Conclusions:The key failure pattern for NPC was distant metastasis in the IMRT era. With changes in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies as well as treatment modalities, the signiifcant prognostic parameters for local control have also been altered substantially.

BACKGROUND:Posterior arch length deficiency is closely related to the formation and development of malocclusion.
OBJECTIVE:To measure the posterior arch length in individual normal occlusions of adults in Lanzhou.
METHODS:A total of 102 current col ege students with individual normal occlusions, with a mean age of (19.33±2.67) years (range 18-24 years), including 47 males and 55 females from Gansu Province, were chosen to take lateral cephalograms. Al research objects were divided into three groups according to mandibular plane angle:high angle group (Frankfort mandibular-plane angle>32°), low angle group (Frankfort mandibular-plane angle<22°) and control group (22°≤Frankfort mandibular-plane angle≤ 32°). Posterior arch length of both maxil ary and mandibular arches was measured, and the data were compared between genders and groups and in groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Posterior arch length of maxil ary arch was slightly longer in male group than that in female group, and the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The posterior arch length of mandibular arch was slightly longer in male group than that in female group, but the difference was no significant (P>0.05).
