Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2025;36(2):95-99
Objective To explore the correlation between serum ferritin and the risk of metabolic syndrome, and to provide evidence for the prevention and control of metabolic syndrome. Methods Data was from the Jiang'an District survey data of the Chinese Resident Nutrition and Health Monitoring Project in 2022. A total of 399 adult residents were selected as the study subjects and the investigation was performed by questionnaire, physical examination and biochemical testing. Statistical analysis was conducted by SAS 9.4 software, and the association between serum ferritin and metabolic syndrome was analyzed by using multivariate logistic regression. Results The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the study population was 43.61%, and 39.04% after standrdization. With the increase of serum ferritin levels, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome gradually increased (P<0.05). Serum ferritin was positively correlated with WC, DBP, TG, FPG, hsCRP, and HbA1c, while negatively correlated with HDL-C (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for confounding factors, female serum ferritin was positively correlated with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (OR=3.59,95% CI:1.72-7.46); however, male serum ferritin level was not correlated with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (OR=2.02,95% CI:0.76-3.40). Conclusion The prevalence of metabolic syndrome among residents in Jiang'an District is relatively high. Serum ferritin is associated with various components of metabolic syndrome, and the high serum ferritin level in women is associated with a higher risk of metabolic syndrome.

Objective:
To analyze the trends in new diagnosis rates of HIV/AIDS cases in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province from 2009 to 2023, so as to provide the basis for improving HIV/AIDS prevention and control strategies.
Methods:
Data of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in Huzhou City from 2009 to 2023 were collected through the Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. The new diagnosis rate was calculated as the ratio of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases within one year to the permanent resident population during the same period. The gender, age, and regional distribution characteristics of new diagnosis rates of HIV/AIDS cases were described. The trends were analyzed using average annual percent change (AAPC) and annual percent change (APC).
Results:
A total of 2 088 new HIV/AIDS cases were reported in Huzhou City from 2009 to 2023, with an average annual new diagnosis rate of 4.53/105. The new diagnosis rates showed an overall increasing trend from 2009 to 2023 (AAPC=12.745%, P<0.05), with rapid growth during 2009 to 2015 (APC=32.734%, P<0.05) but no significant trend during 2015 to 2023 (P>0.05). The average annual new diagnosis rate was significantly higher in males than in females (7.54/100 000 vs. 1.40/100 000, P<0.05). Male new diagnosis rate trend closely mirrored the overall population pattern, while females showed a continuous upward trend without clear inflection point (AAPC=12.575%, P<0.05). Age-specific analysis revealed average annual new diagnosis rates of 2.75/100 000, 6.16/100 000 and 3.83/100 000 for AIDS/HIV cases aged <25, 25-<50 and ≥50 years, respectively. The cases aged <25 years showed no significant trend (P>0.05), while the cases aged 25-<50 and ≥50 years followed patterns similar to the overall population. The average annual new diagnosis rates of HIV/AIDS cases in Wuxing District, Nanxun District, Deqing County, Changxing County and Anji County were 6.54/100 000, 3.43/100 000, 3.45/100 000, 3.56/100 000 and 4.94/100 000, respectively, showing overall upward trends (AAPC=9.672%, 27.599%, 11.800%, 18.896% and 10.254%, all P<0.05).
Conclusions
The new diagnosis rate of HIV/AIDS cases showed an overall upward trend in Huzhou City from 2009 to 2023. Cases are mainly concentrated among males, people aged 25-<50 years and Wuxing District, making them key targets for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

Sichuan Mental Health 2024;37(1):16-20
BackgroundChronic insomnia is characterized by a prolonged and recurrent course. The efficacy of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as a physical therapy method to improve sleep quality remains inadequately supported by evidence, particularly regarding its relationship with personality traits. ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy and influencing factors of rTMS in the treatment of chronic insomnia, and to provide insights into its therapeutic potential. MethodA total of 46 patients who met the diagnostic criteria for chronic insomnia according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5), and were treated at the Third Hospital of Mianyang from September 2022 to September 2023 were selected. Prior to treatment, participants underwent assessments using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), Hamilton Depression Scale-17 item (HAMD-17) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess sleep quality before treatment, at the end of the second week of treatment and one week post-treatment. ResultsAt the end of the second week of treatment, patients exhibited significantly improved total PSQI score and subscale scores related to subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance and daytime dysfunction (t=4.755~13.361, P<0.01), with 24 cases (54.35%) showing effective treatment outcomes. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that introverted and extroverted personality traits contributed significantly to the regression equation (B=0.317, P<0.01), explaining 29.90% of the total variation (R2=0.299). ConclusionrTMS treatment may effectively improve the sleep quality of patients with chronic insomnia, with its therapeutic effect appearing to associated with introverted and extroverted personality traits. Objective To preliminarily investigate the anti-tumor effects of phytosphingosine(PHS)and the involvement of inducing apoptosis of leukemia cells. Methods Cellular model of leukemia was established in leukemia cell lines K562 and SUP-B15.CCK-8 assay and EdU assay were used to measure the viability and DNA synthesis of K562 and SUP-B15 cells.RNA-seq was carried out to verify the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)after PHS treatment.Gene Ontology(GO)enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)enrichment analyses were applied to analyze the involved functions and signaling pathways.Comparative Toxicogenomics Database(CTD)and Discovery Studio software were employed to predict the underlying targets of PHS and molecular docking.Cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry, mitochondrial membrane potential was evaluated by JC-1 probe, and protein expression of key molecules was validated by Western blotting. Results PHS inhibited the proliferation of K562 and SUP-B15 cells in a time-and dose-dependent manner. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)of K562 cells was 17.67 and 12.52 pmol/L for 24 and 48 h,respectively, and the IC50 value of SUP-B15 cells was 17.58 and 14.86 μmol/L for 24 and 48 h,respectively.PHS treatment at a dose of 20 μmol/L for 48 h resulted in significant inhibition of DNA synthesis.GO enrichment analysis of the K562 cells showed that PHS might be involved in positive regulation of apoptotic process, plasma membrane and its integral components, and protein kinase binding and activity.Reverse predictive analysis showed that BCL-2 protein was the most likely target of PHS.PHS significantly increased the apoptotic rate of leukemia cells(P<0.05)in a dose-dependent manner, reduced the mitochondrial membrane potential, and down-regulated BCL-2 level(P<0.05)and up-regulated the levels of Cleaved caspase-3 and Cleaved caspase-9(P<0.05).Conclusion PHS may inhibit the proliferation of leukemia cells by inducing mitochondria-dependent apoptosis, possibly through PHS and BCL-2 interaction.

Objective:To analyze epidemiological characteristics and spatiotemporal clustering of hepatitis A in China from 2005 to 2023.Methods:The incidence data of hepatitis A in China during 2005-2023 were collected from the China Disease Control and Prevention Information System .Results:From 2005 to 2023, a total of 605 509 cases of hepatitis A were reported in China. The average annual reported incidence rate was 2.32/100 000, the incidence was 2.85/100 000 in men and 1.81/100 000 in women, and the incidence was 3.25/100 000 in age group 0-14 years, 2.10/100 000 in age group 15-64 years and 2.49/100 000 in age group ≥65 years , respectively. The case count in farmers was highest (40.57%, 245 639/605 509). The proportion of the cases in jobless or the unemployed increased most obviously (347.32%), and the proportion of the cases in students decreased most significantly (90.27%). The average annual reported incidence rate in the western China was highest (4.45/100 000), followed by that in northeastern China (2.02/100 000), central China (1.89/100 000) and eastern China (1.16/100 000). From 2020 to 2023, the incidence of hepatitis A showed no spatial clustering. From 2005 to 2019, the obvious hot spots and high-high clustering areas mainly distributed in provinces, such as, Sichuan, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Xizang and Gansu. The low-low clustering areas were mainly distributed in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Jilin and Liaoning. An independent high-low clustering was found in Shanxi during 2014-2019. A total of 5 high incidence clustering areas were detected through spatiotemporal scanning analysis. Conclusions:The incidence rate of hepatitis A in China declined significantly from 2005 to 2023. The reported incidence rate in the elderly showed no obvious decrease, and the reported cases accounted for the highest proportion in the whole population. Before 2020, the reported incidence rate of hepatitis A showed high-high clustering in western China, the spatiotemporal clustering disappeared from 2020 to 2023, but the reported incidence rate of hepatitis A in western China was still high. It is suggested to pay attention to the prevention and control of hepatitis A in populations at high risk and areas with high incidence of hepatitis A.

Chinese Journal of Child Health Care 2024;32(1):59-63
Central precocious puberty (CPP) is an endocrine disease of children due to the early onset of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function. This leads to increased secretion of gonadotropin release impulse, causing the development of internal and external genitalia and the presentation of secondary sex characteristics. Studies have found that the onset of CPP in children may be related to vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D, affected by sunlight duration, acts on neurons and neurotransmitters in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, promotes obesity and affects the expression level of insulin-like growth factor-1, which are four factors involved in the occurrence and development of CPP. The overall effect of vitamin D combined with gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues on CPP is significant. This article reviews the correlation between vitamin D deficiency and CPP, as well as the possible mechanism of action, in order to provide some theoretical basis for researchers.
