1.Effect of Transition Shock on Intention to Stay in Newly Graduated Nurses : The Mediating Effect of Positive Psychological Capital

		                        			 Purpose:
		                        			: This study was conducted to identify the relationship between transition shock and intention to stay among newly graduated nurses and the mediating effect of positive psychological capital.  
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			This was a cross-sectional study that included a total of 155 newly graduated nurses at one hospital, recruited from June to September 2023. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro model 4.  
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			There were significant relationships between transition shock and intention to stay (r=-.47, p <.001), transition shock and positive psychological capital (r=-.64, p <.001), and positive psychological capital and intention to stay (r=.51, p <.001). Positive psychological capital showed a mediating effect in the relationship between transition shock and intention to stay among newly graduated nurses. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			These results indicated that transition shock directly affected newly graduated nurses’ intention to stay, indirectly affecting it through positive psychological capital. Therefore, programs and strategies to reduce transition shock and increase positive psychological capital are needed in order to improve newly graduated nurses’ intention to stay.

		                        			 Objective:
		                        			This study evaluated the accuracy of the pre-hospital shock index multiplied by the AVPU scale (PSIAVPU) as a predictor of massive transfusion (MT) and traumatic coagulopathy. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			This research was a retrospective single-center study that included patients consecutively presenting to a trauma center between 2017 and 2020. The predictive value of the PSIAVPU for MT, in-hospital mortality, and traumatic coagulopathy was measured using the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve. The AUC of the PSIAVPU was compared with the Reverse Shock Index multiplied by the Glasgow Coma Scale (rSIG) measured at the trauma center presentation. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			One thousand seven hundred and ninety-two patients were included, of which 163 patients (9.09%) received MT and 195 patients (10.88%) died during their hospital stay. Traumatic coagulopathy was observed in 245 patients. The AUC values for the PSIAVPU in terms of predicting MT, hospital mortality, and traumatic coagulopathy were 0.755, 0.752, and 0.736, respectively. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			In patients with trauma, the predictive power of the PSIAVPU was higher than that of the prehospital shock index and was comparable to that of the rSIG. The PSIAVPU is a useful indicator that can be used easily and quickly for trauma patients at the prehospital stage. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
3.Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Presenting as Progressive Gait Impairment

		                        			 Orthostatic headache is a hallmark symptom of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). However, SIH can manifest without headache, which can lead to a significant delay in treatment initiation. We hereby report a 70-year-old male with progressive gait disturbance and superficial siderosis. Magnetic resonance myelography showed an extensive extradural cerebrospinal fluid collection in the cervicothoracic spine. After a series of targeted epidural blood patch, the patient’s symptoms significantly improved. SIH should be considered as a potential cause of otherwise unexplained superficial siderosis to prompt an early diagnosis and treatment. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
4.COVID-19 outbreak response at a nursing hospital in South Korea in the post-vaccination era, including an estimation of the effectiveness of the first shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (ChAdOx1-S)

		                        			 Objectives:
		                        			We descriptively reviewed a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak at a nursing hospital in Gyeonggi Province (South Korea) and assessed the effectiveness of the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in a real-world population. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			The general process of the epidemiological investigation included a public health intervention. The relative risk (RR) of vaccinated and unvaccinated groups was calculated and compared to confirm the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARSCoV-2) infection, and vaccine effectiveness was evaluated based on the calculated RR. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The population at risk was confined to ward E among 8 wards of Hospital X, where the outbreak occurred. This population comprised 55 people, including 39 patients, 12 nurses, and 4 caregivers, and 19 cases were identified. The RR between the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups was 0.04, resulting in a vaccine effectiveness of 95.3%. The vaccination rate of the nonpatients in ward E was the lowest in the entire hospital, whereas the overall vaccination rate of the combined patient and non-patient groups in ward E was the third lowest. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			The first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine (ChAdOx1-S) was effective in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection. 5.Hepatitis A Outbreak in a Facility for the Disabled, Gyeonggi Province, Korea: An Epidemiological Investigation

		                        			The number of cases of hepatitis A virus (HAV) infections has sharply increased in Korea, especially among young adults. In this study, an HAV outbreak in a facility for disabled people was investigated, and we found epidemiological differences both between 2 different generations and between generally abled and disabled groups. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			We analyzed the incubation period and attack rate of an HAV outbreak and investigated the prevalence of HAV antibodies among the staff and residents of a facility for the disabled. We performed a retrospective cohort study during the HAV outbreak, which lasted from February 8 to 25, 2019, including examinations of HAV antibody tests and post-exposure HAV vaccination for the staff or residents of the facility. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			There were 9 confirmed cases in 2 staff members and 7 residents. Among 53 people (30 staff and 23 residents), except for the 9 confirmed cases and 1 staff member with a known history of HAV infection, HAV seroprevalence was seen in 16.7% of the staff under 40 years of age and 95.2% of those over 40 years of age, while the corresponding rates in the residents were 0.0% and 58.8%, respectively. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusions
		                        			This result implies that it is necessary to prioritize HAV vaccination for vulnerable groups and workers of residential care facilities.

		                        			 In November 2021, 14 international travel-related severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) B.1.1.529 (omicron) variant of concern (VOC) patients were detected in South Korea. Epidemiologic investigation revealed community transmission of the omicron VOC. A total of 80 SARS-CoV-2 omicron VOC-positive patients were identified until December 10, 2021 and 66 of them reported no relation to the international travel.There may be more transmissions with this VOC in Korea than reported.

8.Bond Strength of Band on Zirconia Crown with Compomer and Resin Cement

		                        			The aim of this study was to evaluate the compomer cement and resin cement as an orthodontic band cement on zirconia crown.A total of 30 specimens were prepared. Preformed stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns of upper right second primary molar were used. Orthodontic bands were cemented on stainless steel crowns (Group I, n = 10) and zirconia crowns (Group II, n = 10) with compomer cement. The other bands were cemented on zirconia crowns with resin cement (Group III, n = 10). The tensile loads were applied to band to measure the bond strength.The mean of bond strengths of group I, II and III were 0.79 MPa, 1.09 MPa and 1.56 MPa respectively. Bond strength of group II is significantly higher than group I. There was no significant difference between group II and III.Compomer cement and resin cement containing functional monomers showed favorable bond strength of orthodontic bands.

9.In-vivo Visualization of Iron Oxide Enhancement in Focal Pulmonary Inflammatory Lesions Using a Three-Dimensional Radial Gradient-Echo-Based Ultrashort Echo Time Sequence: A Preliminary Study

		                        			OBJECTIVE: To preliminarily evaluate technical feasibility of a dual-echo ultrashort echo time (UTE) subtraction MR imaging by using concurrent dephasing and excitation (CODE) sequence for visualization of iron-oxide enhancement in focal inflammatory pulmonary lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A UTE pulmonary MR imaging before and after the injection of clinically usable superparamagnetic iron-oxide nanoparticles, ferumoxytol, was conducted using CODE sequence with dual echo times of 0.14 ms for the first echo and 4.15 ms for the second echo on 3T scanner in two rabbits concurrently having granulomatous lung disease and lung cancer in separate lobes. A mean ratio of standardized signal intensity (SI) was calculated for comparison of granulomatous lesion and cancer at first echo, second echo, and subtracted images. Lesions were pathologically evaluated with Prussian blue and immunohistochemistry staining. RESULTS: Post-contrast subtracted CODE images visualized exclusive enhancement of iron oxide in granulomatous disease, but not in the cancer (mean ratio of SI, 2.15 ± 0.68 for granulomatous lesion versus 1.00 ± 0.07 for cancer; p value = 0.002). Prussian blue and corresponding anti-rabbit macrophage IgG-staining suggested an intracellular uptake of iron-oxide nanoparticles in macrophages of granulomatous lesions. CONCLUSION: Dual-echo UTE subtraction MR imaging using CODE sequence depicts an exclusive positive enhancement of iron-oxide nanoparticle in rabbits in focal granulomatous inflammatory lesions.

10.Differential regulation of the histone chaperone HIRA during muscle cell differentiation by a phosphorylation switch.

		                        			Replication-independent incorporation of variant histone H3.3 has a profound impact on chromatin function and numerous cellular processes, including the differentiation of muscle cells. The histone chaperone HIRA and H3.3 have essential roles in MyoD regulation during myoblast differentiation. However, the precise mechanism that determines the onset of H3.3 deposition in response to differentiation signals is unclear. Here we show that HIRA is phosphorylated by Akt kinase, an important signaling modulator in muscle cells. By generating a phosphospecific antibody, we found that a significant amount of HIRA was phosphorylated in myoblasts. The phosphorylation level of HIRA and the occupancy of phosphorylated protein on muscle genes gradually decreased during cellular differentiation. Remarkably, the forced expression of the phosphomimic form of HIRA resulted in reduced H3.3 deposition and suppressed the activation of muscle genes in myotubes. Our data show that HIRA phosphorylation limits the expression of myogenic genes, while the dephosphorylation of HIRA is required for proficient H3.3 deposition and gene activation, demonstrating that the phosphorylation switch is exploited to modulate HIRA/H3.3-mediated muscle gene regulation during myogenesis.
